Recently reported UNKNOWN OR OTHER problems on 2007 Jeep Commander

Mid winter of 2018 i drove my jeep home and parked it on a flat landing and when i went out to start it 2 days after parking it nothing happened. i had to have it towed because the problem was with my starter. now it is october 2019 and i was waiting at a red light in the middle of a busy city intersection and the jeep just shuts off. after i couldn't get it started up again we found that it was once again the starter. this happened 2 weeks ago and since then i had the starter rebuilt and put back in. this morning it did the exact same thing at the exact same red light. on top of this it has been overheating at random times while driving, it does leak antifreeze but it has overheated even when the antifreeze was full. also, over the summer i parked at s pizza shop in my hometown and left it running while i picked up my order. when i returned to the jeep it was stuck in park and needed the shifter replaced. the components that attached the shifter to the actual gears were destroyed. i've had this jeep for 1.5 years and it has left me sit now on 4 separate occasions.

The car stalls without warning when you are driving.i have had it checked at the dealership and other shops several times and they cannot find out what is wrong with it. it does not matter if you are on the street or on the highway (which is scary) and it is totally random. according to the website i have had all the recalls done.

When trying to crank the car the ignition is very slow and the lights dim. it is trying to turnover but cannot. after a few attempts it starts smelling like something electrical is going on. we attempted to jump it off but it performs the same even when attached to jumper cables. so it is not the battery which was changed 2 years ago and the starter was replaced 2 years ago as well. this has been happening for a while periodically but it always eventually started and never smelled like something electrical was burning. the vehicle was parked in a parking spot in lexington for only a few minutes to run into the retrieve some documents and when returning it just would not start. once i got home i started looking up common issues with electrical and noticed that there had been several recalls that might apply to my issue. i plan to call our local chrysler dealer as soon as they open and see if they can confirm and pick it up for repairs that should be covered under the warranty.

The vehicle shut off without warning while driving 65 mph. lost control hit side truck try restart but won crank or anything head lights and everthing is normal just won crank again

The 2007 jeep commander i own is having a fuel pump relay issue.it will not start but continuously turns over also we have had the car stall out on the highway at high speeds making it a rather dangerous situation. many of the vehicles from 07 and up had a recall for this exact reason but unfortunately mine was not covered under this recall. i am certain that this is my issue but the manufacturer has refused to do anything to fix the problem without paying an arm and a leg.

Under heavy rain, the vehicle leaks on the inside to the point of a big puddle in the floor of the driver side while stationary. this has also caused a problem with my cruise control and on-screen nav it now goes on and off displaying the jeep logo as if the car was just starting up and i am in the middle of driving.

I was driving on public street an the gas pedal stuck the jeep died i turned it back on when i took my boot off the break the jeep excelled before i put my foot on the gas pedal then i put my foot on the pedal and it excelled really fast and got stuck then died. it has happened several times. when it excels by its self it goes really fast if you don't have a good grip on the string wheel it will get out of control.

My wife was driving the jeep on 11-26-17 and she had the heater on. she felt her right leg getting really hot down by the gas peddle. when she got home she pulled up her pants leg and she saw that her leg had a bad blister on it. she did not have this before she drove the car. the heat from the floor vent was on her side burned her leg through her clothing. see pictures. i measured the temperature coming out of that vent with the heater running and it is 156.9f see picutre

All light flash off and on randomly sometimes leaving the gauges and ac not working then return and leave the eas and traction control light and check engine light on. pulling the code reveal a u1403 and u1411 code. when bumps are hit or the ac is on the lights flash and sometime wiggling the ignition switch stops the flashing other times it is random and sometime more sporadic, when the vehicle is experiencing the problem the car ignition can be shut off and the restarted sometimes it stops the trouble..

First my gauge cluster just goes crazy parked or even while driving it. now i just drove it down the road and it is stuck in 4th gear will not go into any other gear!

Engine stalls at highway speeds

I have as keep commander 2007 recently my ignition was recalled and fixed now my jeep seems to be to trying to shift while i'm on the freeway at speeds as much as 60-65 and my 4 wheel drive service light is on take it to the shop they did a diagnostic and it thru a trouble code c1438 transfer case differential also recommended replacing transfer case front riverine so i did all repairs 3400.00 now the same problem is happening take it back still under warranty and the transfer housing is once again needing replacing the mechanic wants to charge me another 695.00 i feel like he's taking advantage and i'm really upset the work was done may 2016 something tells me that something is wrong and possible recall was done for this problem and i am not notified

Car won't start when turn key to start. all control panel light and audio works. when turn key back to off position transmission over temp message appears. car had been sitting in garage for a couple of days. this third or fourth time this has occurred.

The 2007 jeep commander i have recently purchased starts intermittently. when turning the ignition to start, there is a stall before all controls come on, and then the jeep does not start. this happened a little over a month ago for 1 day and then began starting right away, until now. it does not start with a battery jump, nor does it show any signs of transmission damage. it simply does not start.

I have a 2007 jeep same engine and trans, it is doing same think as the 2006 recall is expressing. all i get from dealer is they can find nothing wrong. i can't get them to help me with anything. if you search the web you will see this is a big issue on the 2007 jeeps also. i was very close to getting into a crash today. this is the 4th time it has happened. recall number: 08v203000recall date: 05/06/2008 component: power train:automatic transmission:control module (tcm, pcm) problem summary: chrysler is recalling 24,461 my 2006 jeep commander vehicles equipped with 4.7l v8 engines. the powertrain control module (pcm) was programmed with software that may allow the engine to stall under certain operating conditions. consequence: this could cause a crash without warning. what owners should do: dealers will reprogram the pcm software in all 4.7l engine equipped my 2006 jeep commanders built prior to january 11, 2006. the recall began on may 19, 2008. owners may contact chrysler at 1-800-853-1403.

I have received recall notices about the ignition switch twice. i have been waiting almost a year for a fix. i called tom obrien chrysler jeep again this week. they still do not have the parts to repair this. this is a serious safety issue and should have been repaired along time ago!

The car can not start.

Our jeep was parked in the driveway when we noticed flames and smoke coming out from under the driver's side dash. the jeep was completely engulfed in flames in 5 minutes.

In the summer of 2014, i was reversing and my 2007 jeep commander turned off twice. it has been happening more frequently since then. my jeep turns off while driving up to 30 miles an hour, and while stopped at a light, and/or a stop sign. the check engine light sometimes turns on, but not always when jeep turns off. sometimes it makes a 'huffing puffing' noise like it's struggling to stay on (before it actually turns off). it always turns on right after, but i have noticed it makes a loud squeaky sound when it turns on after i crank it. that squeaky sound, sounds like the sound it makes when someone tries to crank on the vehicle after vehicle is already been on. the chrysler recall center mailed me a recall p41 notice last summer/fall in 2014. i took it to the chrysler jeep dealership in mcallen, texas for recall p41 service at that time. i've taken my jeep to several mechanics since then, but no one seems to find the problem. the servicemen at dealership said to keep checking in with them to see if they have the part. they said problem is not related to recall p41...and keep advising me of other possible problems. i've fixed all of the possible problems suggested, and yet the 'turning off' still continues! the service manager at dealership, and the chrysler recall center people keep telling me that chrysler has not made part available, and for me to remove any extra keys from the key ring, and to continue driving me jeep until the part is available. chrysler will then mail me notice of recall part availability. i've been dealing with this problem for over a year! it is very scary, especially when it happens unexpectedly in an unreliable vehicle!! i don't feel safe.

Transmission over temp. car starts no problem. some smoke from under vehicle

At random times, when trying to start the jeep it wont start and say transmission over temp. at first it would take a couple days before it would start again. i used it for a few more days and it did the same thing. a couple hours later it started back up. after a few more times of happening ive noticed you can put it in neutral and back in park and sometimes it restarts. the dealership has looked at it and said they had another one with the same problem but no fix for it.

Vehicle begins to stall, and has no acceleration, check engine light comes on, and all gears are highlighted on the dash. it has become more frequent, and now is happening at highway speeds, where before it happened from a stopped position attempting to accelerate. on 01/22/11 while traveling approximately 60mph on a freeway, the gears selections where all highlighted, and the car began to bog, and had no acceleration. this was a cause for concern being on a major congested highway in chicago, with my family in the vehicle. this stalling problem has happened approximately 20-30 times since it first started happening.

I have a 2007 jeep commander and it is less than four years old and i have had the starter replaced 4 times. jeep can't explain why they can't fully fix the problem and they refuse to acknowledge that this is an issue with the commanders at large and not my specific vehicle. in addition to having had the starter replaced 4 times, i have also had the electronic shifting module replaced as well and the crankshaft. my commander has less than 40,000 miles on it and has been well maintained since i purchased it brand new. jeep has failed to address my concerns and refuses to accept responsibility for selling me a vehicle. jeep suggested i purchase a new vehicle and i find this preposterous due to the fact that the car is less than four years old. the commander is clearly defective and jeep needs to take responsibility for it. instead, jeep refuses to accept responsibility and they decided to rectify the problem by halting production. *tt

I purchased a new 2006 jeep commander limited 4.7l 4wd. i was driving down the highway on one occasion and a rural road on another occasion at separate times in on the same day (two days after purchasing) and was moving at around 70 mph on the hwy and 45 on the rural road when i shifted in my seat. my right knee made minor contact with the ignition key and it turned the vehicle off completely, no dash lights no motor, no power steering or brakes. i managed to get the vehicle off the road and luckily no one was behind me or beside me either time. i had to put the vehicle in park then restart the motor and go from there. i can only imagine if a young driver had been at the wheel or if there were cars around me at the time. i am not a large or very tall person. i went to edmunds.com and went to the vehicle forum on problems and issues and read where others had experienced the same thing. i contacted the dealer the next morning and was told to contact the manufacture, when i did they sent me a prescripted note saying to contact the dealer. i told them that the dealer told me to contact them and they sent me another email stating to go through the dealer. and they thanked me for my input. this problem is not a broken part issue it is a design flaw in the vehicle. the ignition key is located at such an angle and close to the knee so that when it gets hit from the left it forces the key to turn out of run to acc or off. it does not take much force to do this and the detent in the run position is very week at best. this to me is a real safety issue that needs to be addressed with the manufacturer. *jb
