Problems with 2016 Jeep Cherokee POWER TRAIN

On average, the 2016 Jeep Cherokee starts to “feel” problems with the POWER TRAIN and its various aspects after 33 049 miles.

Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2016 Jeep Cherokee

I purchased my vehicle new. since having it the panel which displays the radio will randomly go black. i've also had several issues with acceleration. sometimes if i'm at a red light and then it turns green the car will rev and not move anywhere for about 30 seconds. yesterday while i was on the highway my speed dropped from 60 to 40 very fast and i was not able to accelerate at all and had to pull over on the side of the road and my transmission light came on. i've also been driving before and when i hit the brake it makes a noise like its shifting super loud and the brake clicks. my vehicle is in for service right now but i dont feel safe driving it at all. it only has 16,000 miles on it and shouldn't be having all of these issues with such low mileage. yesterday not being able to accelerate on the highway was scary and dangerous.

While driving on highway, automatic 9 speed transmission seemed to lose all acceleration at around 60mph. the "service transmission" notification appeared on the display, and the vehicle started decelerating until it was necessary to pull over and park. problem seemed fixed after an engine restart, but occurred again at higher speed (60mph). i don't know why 2016 vehicles were not included in the s55 recall, it is the same issue.

When driving at a speed of 70 mph the service transmission light comes on, disabling acceleration and putting the car into 8th gear. this causes a dangerous situation where the car speed decreases instantly and requires the car to pulled over to the side of road and turn the car off then on. chrysler is well aware of this issue but has not issued a recall for these vehicles. instead they choose to put customers in the dangerous situation of disabling a vehicle at high speeds.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 jeep cherokee. while driving 10 mph, the check engine and "put in park and place in desired gear" warning indicators appeared on the instrument panel. in addition, the brake pedal was difficult to depress. after several attempts, the contact was able to place the vehicle in park and shut off the vehicle. once restarted, the vehicle operated normally. the vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. winnie dodge chrysler jeep ram (located at 125 tx-124, winnie, tx 77665, (409) 296-3500) was contacted and an appointment was made to have the vehicle diagnosed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 32,696.

The driver information center says service shifter. when active, the manual shift doesn't work but forward reverse and park do not seem to be affected. if you stop shut off the vehicle and restart, it clears. it started doing this 6-9 months ago once in a while but now does it several times a day depending on amount of driving. we brought it into the dealer to have it checked and they said there was no codes or physical problems but could replace the shifter to see if this would fix the problem. we elected not to do this at the present time. we have heard of accidents from this so we just wanted to notify you that it is happening. we would like to address this before an accident occurs.

2016 jeep cherokee latitude 4x4 (25k miles) will stall or lose power while driving. happened several times in past few months. noticed first when had trouble starting in the morning a few times (after a recent oil change). while driving, jeep latitude 4x4 will jump into gear while slowing jolting the car forward, temporarily lose power (rpm drop, and mph drop), or completely lose power while driving (happened on both city and highway). complete loss of power happened several times while turning, coming around turn, indicator will ding then suddenly steering stiffens, no power from gas pedal, and car slows to stop. once stopped, message screen displays 'shift car to p then to desired gear' i then have to shift car to park and restart (sometimes taking 3 or 4 attempts). this has also happened while attempting to merge onto highway (coming around bend of on ramp) luckily there was a large shoulder and little traffic to pull over safely. this poses an immediate risk of safety of not only myself, but passengers and other vehicles. if this were to happen at a busy intersection, highway, or dangerous road conditions (low visibility, slick surface, etc) and accident will occur. i no longer feel safe driving this vehicle.

I bought new jeep cherokee 2016 3.2 l in sep. 2016. was very happy for first few months and then i noticed i got jerk while i was driving. i informed the dealership guy but, he said that's normal it happened because of automatic transmission. after couple a months i got service shifter light on. i went to the dealership and they updated software. it was back up again with in a week so i decided to change the dealership. i went another jeep dealership got error code and fix it. it was working fine for at least three months and i got back service shifter sign but, this time it was with service forward sign too. they fix it but because of that my break pads was worn down and it was not covered under warranty and i have to pay out of pocket.after a week i got service transmission light on. i have to tow my car and drop at the dealership. they fix the problem but the all problem back up again. i got the service shifter light on, my car is getting started jerking and create a sound when i was break hard. so guys i am very frustrated with my jeep cherokee.

9 speed transmission delay from a dead stop. jerking and lunging through different gears. had full transmission replacement in january 2018, and still having issues.

This evening i was driving my 2016 jeep cherokee when it suddenly lost power and i couldn't accelerate or adequately turn. i was beginning to accelerate after having been stopped at a traffic light and made a right hand turn. i was traveling between approximately 20 and 30 mph when my vehicle lost power. my music continued to play, my digital screen housing the speed remained illuminated and i noticed the battery light was on. i did not notice a message on this screen but there could have been one. i was more focused on getting my vehicle off of the road since it was no longer moving. luckily there was a parking lot approximately 20 feet ahead. i was able to coast my car into the parking lot. steering was difficult but manageable. once in the parking lot i placed the vehicle in park and turned the engine off. i waited a moment and attempted to turn it back on. the vehicle began to buck/shake and made a noise as if it was trying to start but not able to. the digital monitor flickered on and finally the engine turned over and the vehicle was running. i left it running for several minutes and then turned the engine off. the vehicle restarted with no problems and was able to make it back to my home approximately 20 miles from where this occurred. this was terrifying. what would i have done if i was on an interstate or highway and traffic was heavy? after this incident and prior to filing this complaint, i researched this problem and have found several videos on youtube showing exactly what i experienced. i have also read complaints on various forums (one titled jeep forum) describing the situation i experienced. i do not feel this vehicle is safe or can be trusted with my life or others. this needs to be investigated.

I was driving my 2016 jeep cherokee latitude 2.4l on a city highway when all of a sudden the service transmission light popped on and i could no longer accelerate past 45mph. luckily i was able to react quickly with the hazard lights and make my way over to the shoulder. the engine light is now on and it is triggering code p0887. i know now that there have been several issues with the 9 gear transmission in previous year models as well that have been recalled. this is very concerning and i am afraid of driving my vehicle anywhere that has a speed limit above 35!

Service transmission light would come on and the car loses power. this happened twice while the car was in motion on the freeway. had to pull off to the side of the road, turn the engine off and back on again

I was driving on i95 near dc in very heavy traffic. the car would come to a dead stop with the parking light and two battery lights on. it had the message to put car in park and then shift to desired gear. it did not work and in the middle of high speed heavy traffic i had to turn engine off and restart the car for it to go back into gear. i went to the local jeep dealership and there were no codes when the car was checked. the service department said it had to be an electronic issue. i was traveling with children on a busy interstate and my jeep did this three times. we could have easily been killed . my dealership will not even look at my car for almost two weeks.

I've had the jeep less than 2 years . only 14000 miles on it . the transmission started jerking and lundging when it down shifted or started off from a stop. my daughter and i where coming back from the human society. while driving at about 50 mph i had to slow down for on coming traffic.the jeep shifted to a lower gear and lunged so fiercely i thought the transmission had fallen off the vehicle. the vehcle immediately shut down. i was at a complete stop. lights started flashing service transmission. i had no power to move. im on an over pass with traffic and theres no where to go in the middle of traffic. by chance the jeep was able to start and accelerate to 5mph and get to a safe place to pull over. it was a very serious hazard for me and my daughter and other drivers we basically glided to a complete stop in the midst of traffic while doing 50mph. than starting it up and only doing 4 tmph. this was clearly a very dangerous situation. i dont feel safe or confendent. i paid a premium price for a vehicle that should be dependable and safe. now the jeep wont start. the rear button to close the hatch has quit working. the start button will not start the car at all. when it started to malfunction. it would hesatate as if the battery where dead. when it did start the settings 'climate control would be set to defrost. the a would show up on the face without being pressed. and eventually the screen would not react to touch at all. and the radio wouldnt play. but all elise seemed to work without a problem. the windows worked fine the lights where bright. there wasnt a problem with the battery. i am applauded that jeep would think this is acceptable for a new vehicle im the comsumer. i paid for a product that has to and is a to certain expectations.

My vehicle was on cruise control at 55 mph and during a downhill slope, the vehicle accelerated and rpms jumped to 6-8,000. i could not get the cruise control to shutoff and stop acceleration. i almost hit the car in front of me. has happened twice now. i have also had it lurch forward at stop signs when taking off. *tt *tr

Less than 60000 & service shifter light comes on. took it into the dealer and they said the shifter needs to be replaced & it's not covered under warranty. dealership says it has nothing to do with how the jeep is driven. i am a teacher & only drive it to and from work. they said it's a known issue with this model. if it's a known issue why isn't it covered?

Driving on i-95 at about 60mph and the service transmission message came on along with the check engine light. luckily was near an exit and pulled over at the exit. stopped on the median and tried to get to a gas station but the car would not move. turned off the engine, waited for about 10 minutes, made some phone calls, and turned on the engine again. the service transmission light was gone but the service engine light was still on. the car now moved. drove to the destination and the dealer serviced on monday with a software update. all seems ok so far.

Took into dealership yesterday because a service shifter message was coming up, the indicator lights went sold red, and the vehicle would violently shake both while stopped and during driving. got a call this morning (6/8/18) saying the module needs to be replaced, and since its electrical its not covered under powertrain warranty. i had mentioned this error message to a service technician during a previous visit, who told me to "not worry about it right now".

Bought car august 2016, first noticed severe jolt/kick august 2017. it appeared randomly. so severe that the first 10 or so times i really thought i was rear ended. when traveling around 40-45 mph car jolts/kicks/jumps/drops (pick your term) when the car shifts gears. doesn't happen every time, mostly when traffic is creeping along.and noticed that the car idled very roughly out of the driveway just before the check engine light came on all three times. dealership resets computer then says they can't replicate issue, i've taken it in 3 times now for these issues with no real resolution. they are replacing valve body this time, my car is under two years old and i do not feel safe driving it anywhere.

Two issues (may be related) first safety issue is when driving in higher gears and gas is not maintained the transmission cuts off and it can only idle with rpms able to go as high as 2000 rpms without being able to gain speed. the second issue is that when using cruise control the vehicle will increase speed without adjusting when going down a grade to speeds well over cruising speed. both issues happen while driving on highway.

Engine shuts off randomly when stopped. back passenger seats rattle when driving either smith or bumpy roads. squeaking noise comes from the car when the engine is shut off.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 jeep cherokee. while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle started to lose power and the service transmission indicator illuminated. the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer multiple times for similar failures. the vehicle was taken to bob moore chrysler dodge jeep ram of tulsa (4627 s memorial dr, tulsa, ok 74145) and the transmission control module was repaired. the vehicle was kept at the dealer for three months. while leaving the dealer, the contact stated that the transmission indicator illuminated again. the dealer reprogrammed the vehicle. after the repair, the contact stated that the vehicle failed to drive. the vehicle was towed back to the dealer and the transmission was repaired again. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 15,652.

My 2016 jeep cherokee has less than 30000 miles on it. it shifts extremely rough from neutral to drive. the engine has a loud ticking at idle.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 jeep cherokee. while driving 65 mph, the vehicle decelerated to 30 mph and the service transmission indicator illuminated. the vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road. the vehicle was taken to bob moore chrysler dodge jeep ram tulsa (918-664-9750, located at 4627 s memorial dr, tulsa, ok 74145) where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be repaired. the vehicle was left with the dealer for repairs. when the contact retrieved the vehicle, the transmission indicator illuminated while the vehicle was still at the dealer. the technician stated that someone forgot to program the computer. the technician programmed the computer. when the contact drove home and turned off the vehicle, it would not restart. the vehicle was towed back to the same dealer. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was repaired, but the contact was not convinced that the vehicle was safe. the failure mileage was 15,562.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 jeep cherokee. while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle lost power. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was towed to the contact's home. the dealer (heritage chrysler dodge jeep ram owings mills, 11212 reisterstown rd, owings mills, md 21117) was contacted and advised the contact to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic testing. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified and informed the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer. the failure mileage was 40,000.

My transmission is starting to slip, mostly when i'm driving at a slower speed; is that normal for a car i haven't even had for 2 years? i'm wondering if there is a recall on something that could be making it do this? i'm worried; i'll need to get it looked at for sure.

My jeep cherokee sport 2016 got stuck in a gear and would not shift. the service transmission light came on and the gas pedal would not do anything. it happened 5 times on my way home from a road trip and was very dangerous. the jeep apparently needs a software update and i believe i shouldn't have to pay for that. the vehicle only has 30k miles on it.

Three times recently i was pulling out from a stop sign and the car would not go. i thought the engine had died but it was still on/running. then on a separate incident i was traveling on the interstate at 55 mph when the service transmission light suddenly came on and the speed dropped down to 20 mph and i could not control the speed.

The automatic lighting had been switching between day and night mode for a couple of days. then while driving, without warning, the car came to a stop and gave a message "you must be in park before shifting gears". the engine then stopped. this occurred in a rotary, luckily on a quiet street. after a couple of minutes, i was able to start the car and it appeared fine.

Transmission randomly goes into neutral & the car does not move when pressing the gas. the 1st time it happened i was pulling out on an extremely busy highway & making a right to merge into traffic. my car froze in the lane & 3 cars nearly hit me at high speeds swerving around me. i brought it to the jeep dealership as it is under warranty & after a few hours, they called & said it was ready & it was just a "software update". weeks later the same thing happened only this time while making a left to merge into traffic. i was in the median waiting for traffic to clear & when it did, i went - again it was like it was stuck in neutral & this time i was almost hit by a semi-truck who nearly jack-knifed trying not to hit me. back to the dealership i went expressing my terror & the fact there is no way i feel safe in this car until it's fixed. i'm suppose to put my 15 year-old son behind the wheel of it when he gets his permit in a few weeks?? today is thursday & my car has been at the dealership since 7:30am last friday. i have to pick it up tomorrow after work. they called to tell me they "cannot duplicate the problem" & recommended i "drive with their technician to see if it can be duplicated with him in the car..." seriously!? considering this is a random/intermittent issue, & does not come with warning, the duplication effort is not likely. i relayed the research i had done since online & recommended looking at the 9-speed transmission issues that have caused problems with the same car. explaining they describe the same problem i am experiencing. i was told they "cannot use information found on google" & "they've checked all software updates, recalls, & tsr's..." but "they're all based on the date it was built & nothing's come up". i am literally terrified to drive. i know there's a lemon law here, but i'm afraid the next time it happens i may not be as lucky. help!!??

Service transmission and check engine light came on driving on i270 in maryland and completely lost all power at 60mph and had to carefully coast to the side of the road because vehicle wouldn't accelarate anymore. vehicle is at the dealership now back in virginia after getting towed from i270. my jeep only has 27000 miles.

2/12/18 ,2016 jeep cherokee, 26,300 miles. driving on i-5 in washington to seattle tp pick up my pregnant wife from the airport about 45 miles from home speed was 72 mph. service transmission displayed on dash with the check engine light. the vehicle would rev but slowly accelerate. i was able to get off the highway. once stopped the car would rev but barley move forward. pulled into a shopping center, i turned the car off and inspected the engine and underneath the vehicle for any fluids. once i started the car it would creep forward slowly until it reached 45mph. the service transmission cleared from the display but the check engine light stayed on. the car operated normally but shifted rough. turned around to head home the service transmission displayed again and the car would not accelerate. pulled over again turned the car on and off and resumed normal driving. the check engine light is still on but limped 45 miles home. i will be taking the car to the dealership in the morning. multiple complaints about this issue for the vehicle.

Driving on the highway a dinging noise check engine light came on service transmission message came up lost all power was barely able to get out of the way of the traffic behind something needs to be done before people get killed this is very dangerous my car only has 61,000 miles on it

First time transmission would not engage at a red light, i thought it was somehow my fault. on/off allowed me to proceed. then, a few weeks later, transmission would not engage after full stop at redlight on a multi lane road with a center median. was able to stop and restart in 4wd to limp off road, before transmission shut down again. on/off restored function after a few minutes and allowed me to drive directly to dealer. car ?repaired? but hours after return from dealer similar problem attempting to enter a limited access hi-way: transmission disengaged while trying to accelerate. problem of drive train engaging has also occurred from a cold start, and it took several on/off cycles to engage transmission and get car back to dealer. dealer has focused on adaptive sensors and wiring harness (because of a low voltage reading), which make no sense to me. confusion created because with each transmission failure every warning light on the dashboard went off. reading these nhtsa bulletins, i have seen several similar postings about the power train not engaging, so i know my problem is not isolated. i mentioned to dealer a 2016 grand cherokee recall for brake transmission shift solenoid, which seems to have caused a similar transmission disengagement my suggestion was dismissed. car only 1 year old and i have barely had use in last 45 days. we are not crazy, and we have a good basis of comparison that something is fundamentally wrong and still undiagnosed. we own an identical second jeep, purchased within one month of this one. second cherokee is fine...so far.. however, on our recommendation my sister in law on other side of country purchased same car within a month of our second. same car and same mileage/year and she is experiencing an engine shutdown problem. suspect our problems are related. *bf.. *tr

The transmission slams into gear when re-accelerating. (usually at lower speeds) sometimes the rpm's will increase but the vehicle will not move forward. (this can be dangerous when you need to get up to speed safely.) there is also a minor clicking noise when the air conditioner is turned on. (mostly just annoying)

Service shifter light randomly comes on. nothing else seems to be affected, sometimes when engine is turned off then back on the light disappears. other times, it remains on. the drive ability of this vehicle is unaffected, how ever something is obviously wrong with this. this first occurred when backing from my driveway, i shifted from reverse to drive, the vehicle dinged, and the light appeared on my dash. now it will randomly do it, doesn't matter when or where, driving down the road, or simply turning on the vehicle.

The service shifter light keeps coming on in my car and the car is shifting gears without moving the shifter. i have taken it to the dealer three times and they keep telling me there is nothing wrong with the car. the light comes on while driving and the car slows down. the car is becoming dangerous to drive. i need help because i drive this vehicle for work and cannot afford to just park it and make payments on it.

Driving on hwy 11/25/17 and check engine light and service transmission msg came on. transmission did not function properly and caused car to be stuck in one gear. went into limp mode and made it to destination. when car was at a stop it was hard to accelerate because it was stuck in a higher gear. we turned it off and put it in park, when it was restarted it seemed to reset but the check engine light was still on. recurred again on the way home as well as on 11/26/17. brought car into chrysler dealer on 11/28/17. rode with technician and problem was duplicated. once car hits 8th gear all warnings return. diagnostic test gave code for tcm power control circuit high, vehicle was flash reprogrammed and i was advised that it should resolve the issue. this was most recent software update which came on 4/4/17. after a test drive issue currently seems resolved. reporting it because it is a major safety defect and want it known that newer models are still having issues with the 9 speed transmissions. when this occurs it makes it very unsafe to drive on highway.

I came to a complete stop at a red light. the brake and gas pedals were frozen in place and the elictrical equipment on the dash went haywire for a moment. the message center then showed the message "start stop system unavailable/ please return to park, then choose desired gear." i was able to turn on my flashers, but despite shifting to park and to drive several times the transmission would not engage. the engine did not seem to be running. i had to turn the car off and then on with the key several times before the engine turned over. the same thing happened at the next two stop lights. i drove about three miles past the third stoplight, and the same thing happened but while i was driving in motion on a highway at about 55 mph. there was no shoulder. it was terrifying. i turned on my flashers and came to a full stop coasting with no brakes and no ability to shift gears. i turned the car off and on with the key again and the car seemed "fine." i used the dash button to turn off the auto-off mechanism and drove the last ten miles home without incident. i'm not sure whether the ess system is related to the malfunction, however the error message and result of turning it off suggests it is. i still have a message that says "service auto on off system." calling dealership today.

Vehicle started to jerk (like rear-ended) once; what it seems, from the transmission got heat after driving for 5-10 mins. feels even more on uphills and accelaration. no dashboard lights. all started around 58000 miles

Jeep lost almost all power while in moderate 2 lane (55mph) highway traffic. without any sort of warning the "check engine" light came on, with a "service transmission" message. luckily, the traffic behind me was alert so i didn't cause an accident. i coasted to a stop on a very narrow shoulder, turned the ignition off and on then on. i was then able to drive the jeep back home in "limp mode". this is a potentially dangerous issue that appears to have several previous reports.

In november 2016 i was driving in a 35mph zone. the car began to skip and jump forward. without warning the service shifter light came on and all my lights for the shifter came on (p,r,n,d). the car which was in drive immediately shifted into park and i lost all control. thankfully i was able to come to a stop and call for a tow truck. the issue was fixed under warranty and they said it's a defect in the shifter. the service department was very vague when explaining this to me. two weeks later i i was told i could pick up my car. fast forward to today 10/04/2017, my car did the same thing. i was traveling at 55 mph this time and lost all control. i had to jump a curb and drive across the lawn and into the parking lot. i have read many issues about this problem from other jeep owners. why hasn't a recall been issued? especially if this is a known issue. i could have caused a large accident especially since it was during rush hour. safety of consumer and others on road need to be taken into account.

Excessive oil consumption. to protect itself, the engine will shut down without warning, no oil or engine lights. this has happened several times in one year. the most recent sept. 27, 2017 was when i was in traffic on a side street in worcester ma.. it took 5 men to physically push my car to the side of the road to prevent an accident from happening. unacceptable. after having a tune up in mid-july 2017, the car dip stick in late september was dry. after towing the vehicle to the nearest dealer i found out it took 4 quarts of oil. i believe this is an excessive amount. i am now going to have to check every 500 to 1,000 miles not to mention the higher cost to purchase synthetic oil. the

There is a known issue with the transmission. some, not all of the 2016 cherokees need a software update. without the update my car will go into "limb mode". you never know when it will happen, you could be merging onto a highway, making a turn across traffic, just whenever. when in "limp mode you lose acceleration or your car stays in 4th gear. this very dangerous. i think all cherokee owners should be made aware of this potenially dangerous situation

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 jeep cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle was shifted into reverse. when shifted into drive, the vehicle was not operable for approximately 40 minutes and the shifter malfunction warning indicator illuminated. safford of fredericksburg (5202 jefferson davis highway, fredericksburg, va) could not replicate the failure. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 14,100.

On 6 separate occasions i've had an annunciation on the driver instrument display of 'service shifter' with associated red illumination of all shift positions of p,r,n,d accompanied by a single chime. the driver instrument display remains frozen on 'service shifter' and any attempt to change pages to check for stored messages is not acknowleged until the car is shutdown, then restarted. no faults appear when stored messages are reviewed. once restarted the message 'service shifter' is cleared. there appears to be no commonality between each reoccuring episode. once it came on after start, the rest while i was driving between 30mph and 50mph after sometime in a straight line on urban streets and secondary highways. mileage it first came on was 16014 then 18875, 20949, 21225, 21422 and finally 24216(just as i was pulling into the jeep dealership for service). jeep service provided little information on the problem and released the car to me. my online research showed several jeeps, different models, on the jeep forum with the same malady as far back as 2014. as of this date my jeeps' software is up-to-date with no recalls.

My 2016 jeep cherokee started having issues. on my way home from work the service transmission message popped up on my display and engine light came on and had absolutely no acceleration capability. managed to stay with traffic and proceed to the off ramp to a gas station. i followed what it's said on owner manual: turn off the car and turn on the car while on natural for few minutes and the message went away but the engine light was there for a while and got turned off it self. but the next day same issue happened again. i took the car to jeep dealership, they did not have a transmission specialist to check the car. i had to make an appointment with another dealership, the appointment is for tomorrow. interesting is the manual says after resetting should not drive the car because it might cause engine problems, and should have dealer to check but the dealers don't check the car right-away they give you appointment for few days later or a week later. i had this car for year and half i drive 3 miles from home to work i don't understand why the car should have a transmission problem at this early stages. i don't feel safe driving this car. not happy at all!

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 jeep cherokee. while driving 65 mph, the vehicle entered into safe mode and decelerated independently. the vehicle was towed to victory chrysler dodge jeep ram (located at 45 naber dr, shallotte, nc 28470, (877) 463-1766) to be diagnosed. the contact was informed that the tcm module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14e004000 (power train). the manufacturer was contacted and notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 17,200.

1) car stalls at random without warning and no apparent cause. i've had the car stall at low speeds after turning (able to restart) but most significantly an incident occurring 7/9/2017 when i lost all acceleration on the interstate at 65mph while towing a 3500lb trailer. the tachometer and speedodometer dropped immediately to zero. total shutdown. concurrently all the electronics shutdown, including power brakes. thankfully i was on a flat stretch of road and was able to drift into the breakdown lane. the car would not restart; no electrical components with the exception of the hazard lights and emergency brake were functioning. car had to be towed. 3) cruise control fails to maintain car speed on moderate downgrades...rpm's will shoot to 5000, then car will "take off" increasing speed by as much as 15 mph more than control is set for. my complaints have been verified/replicated by a jeep chrysler service center but they have stated they can't fix the car because they do not know what is causing the issue.

Driving 65-75 mph on highway in high traffic, service transmission message came on engine light came on and we had absolutely no acceleration no use of speedometer, cruse, couldn't check gauges. were able to pull off the highway. let vehicle sit and restart. engine light still on called the jeep 800 number i had in the vehicle and was disconnected twice with no return call. this vehicle has under 15,000 miles on it. now less than a week later the same thing happened. this time i took it to an auto parts store to have them check the code. which came up as: p0887 tcm power relay control circuit high definition for code: indicates that the tcm power relay control electrical circuit signal had high voltage for predetermined period of time.

Air bags did not deploy in front end collition. shifter lever shows red indicator lights while driving in all gears neutral , reverse, drive, and park. pulled off road turned off car then back on lights went away. this has happened three times under 30,000 miles. dealership cannot find problem
