Problems with 2014 Jeep Cherokee WHEELS

I was traveling on route 18 a 55 mph road yesterday and hit some ice or center rumble strips in the road. my car went into a large ditch. the front end of my car is severely damaged. the driver side airbag did not deploy. i find this very disturbing. definitely a safety issue!!

Since i bought this vehicle, i have had to take to multiple dealers, that could never remedy the "hard jerking, missed gear shifting and repetitive engine light warning and complete engine shutdowns". i now have a vehicle, that i'm told the only fix is to completely repair the transmission, but when the vehicle was under warranty, i was told a computer reprogram would fix the issue. i performed a vin audit, and some of the visits to the multiple dealers don't reflect the actual service, but i have my documents. now i have a negative equity vehicle that i fear to drive, at the moment i just took the car to the dealer, they looked at it and now the engine light is off. i have oral fear the inconsistencies of this vehicle, so i have purchased a new vehicle, until i get a resolve. i took the car to the dealer after multiple complete loss of power on i-80 while coming back from a family trip from nyc. going 65 mph to have the vehicle loss complete power is insane. the only resolve was to pull over, wait, and try again.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while driving 50 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning and the "service transmission" warning message appeared. in addition, all of the instrument panel indicators illuminated without warning. the contact was able to restart the vehicle, but the failure recurred approximately ten minutes later. the contact stated that the rear tires made grinding and hammering noises as well. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the contact left a message with stuart chrysler, dodge, jeep, ram (800 serramonte blvd in colma, ca 94014), but the call was not returned. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 21,600.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while driving various speeds off an exit ramp, the contact clipped the front driver side tire on a curb. as a result, the driver side rim fractured, which made the vehicle immobile. the contact stated that there was damage to the bottom of the vehicle due to the tire fracture. a police report was filed. the vehicle was towed to a repair shop. there were no injuries. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 35,000. the vin was not available. ...updated 01/23/17 *bf

While towing our jeep behind a class a 24 foot motorhome traveling about 50 miles an hour on a bumpy road the jeep started shaking violently and trying to pull to one side or the other. we slowed down but it continued until we came to a complete stop in the middle of the road. cars behind us cleared out away because i'm sure they thought it was going to break loose. we of course were scared and concerned as we had no idea what was happening. we are in a very remote area with no cell phone service and concern about danger to us and other travelers as we had no place to pull off. we did a thorough walk around concerned about flat tires or a broken tow hitch. i recall an article in motorhome magazine concerning "death wobble "in 2014 and 15 jeep cherokee's. we did a youtube search and internet and found out there is a history of this problem that jeep is trying to correct but it does not seem to be working. if we had been towing the jeep with a pick up truck we probably would've been flipped off the road, luckily we are in a big heavy motorhome. motorhome owners may find out about this as time goes on but these jeeps will be traded to uninformed owners that may pullthe jeep with a smaller vehicle. the name death wobble all over youtube has me concerned as how the name came to be. i really feel this is an accident waiting to happen while being pulled by lightweight rv or suvs or already obviously has happened but not reported. it is in a very limited situation but nevertheless owners and potential owners should be made aware and a better fix should be forthcoming. an article can be found in motorhome magazine for november 2016 and the previous issue .

Purchased vehicle for flat towing behind motorhome. at speed, car steering is affected and causes car to shake violently as well as motorhome.condition has occurred several times while flat towing vehicle. this is a major safety concern as it causes a potential loss of control of motorhome at speed.

A couple months after purchasing my car brand new i got a flat tire for no reason. the sensor had to be replaced as well and it took over a week to change my tire. the dealership was awful and the jeep roadside assurance took 6 hours to get to me for a tow, i complained to no avail. next my transmission was acting weird. accelerating and decelerating without me gassing or braking. took it in and no one took me seriously. december 2015 my cars transmission disengaged on the highway at night. thankful i could pull over to the side. got it towed to jeep they said the transmission module needed to be replaced but there was no real fix because the software to fix it hasn't been created yet. so basically we're going to put a faulty part back in your car and cross our fingers it works. yesterday 4/11/16 the exact thing happened on the highway but in the mid morning. again i was able to veer off with no power safely but was in a bad spot on the highway with cars racing past me and not moving over or slowing down. definitely a stressful experience. got towed again and the maintenance were so relaxed about it. they didn't care at all even though this was my second problem in less than 6 months. turns out it was the same problem and they fixed it in one day because they have transmission modules in stock. one can only assume it's because many owners are coming in to get them replaced. i'm am looking into lemon laws and suggest everyone with this problem does the same.

We use this car as a daily driver and also flat tow it behind our motorhome. we are unable to continue to tow the car,because it has a dangerous front end wobble while being towed. we have ten years experience towing cars behind our motorhome. i have been told by other owners of the same model that they have experienced the same problem. jeep has been informed, but has taken no action to correct the problem. we feel this wobble could result in serious injury or death it not corrected. thank you [xxx] and [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).' *jb

This car has been nothing but trouble since 1500 miles off the lot brand new jeep. and then at 2800 and then at 3000 miles they replaced the power control module then two more times for software update. then at 10250 they tell me the transmission has gone and needs to be replaced. as if anything else can go wrong with this car the tires they put on from the dealership firestone my aft right tire split on the sidewall for no reason at all the only damage on the tire was the crack on the tire. so not only is the car defective but the wheels from firestone as well. has anyone else experienced my horrible luck. *tr

Driving down a smooth well traveled dirt road when the drivers side front wheel fell off the car with no notice. had 2 seconds of odd sensation and then the wheel was outrunning my car. found 3 failed lug bolts within 1/8th of a mile. threads stripped out and had excess metal material in them as well, not no breakage or shortening of lugs. brake rotors was loose and movable by hand but i don't know if that was prior or due impact and dragging on the ground. *tr

Sounds like rear wheel bearing is going bad . sometimes it searches for right gear in speeds of 30-50. *tr

When you step on the accelerator from 0mph the car stutters and shakes for a few mph until you get to about 15-20mph and then it drives like normal. *tr

Transmission shifting problems causing hesitation and/or forward lurching, high engine revving, front end wheel hop. all warrant a huge safety concern. vehicle has been in for service 13 times over the last 14 months and has still not been repaired. several star cases opened with no resolution. all concerns confirmed by technician test drive on 6 different occasions and has currently been in the shop for five days.

This car has been looked at by chrysler group llc for steering/transmission issues 4 times since march 22,2014. there has been two software updates that have not corrected the problem. there is a safety issue driving the vehicle that needs to be addressed before someone gets really hurt or killed. *tr

I purchased my new jeep cherokee on 2/2/2014. from very soon after i began driving it, i was aware that there was an unusually high amount of noise coming from the front end when the car was going more than 30 mph or so; it sounded as if the car had a propeller. i returned the car to the dealership the following day (i reside about 35 miles away). at first, they thought it was a transmission noise, but it was subsequently diagnosed as a bad wheel bearing. after a new bearing was shipped overnight from detroit, it was discovered that the bearing on the other front wheel was also bad and required replacement. i am contacting nhtsa because bad bearings on both front wheels suggests to me that there is more than coincidence involved, and that other new cherokees might be similarly affected if a whole production run of defective bearings have been installed on this model of vehicle. i am aware that bad wheel bearings, if ignored, can eventually lead to catastrophic failure, bearing seizure, and loss of wheels and/or vehicle control. *tr

I purchased jeep new on 12/31/2013, within a few weeks i noticed when i turned the wheels to the right that the vehicle was shaking, within a few weeks when i turned to the left the shaking was happening, then i noticed upon take off the front end of the vehicle felt like the wheels were shaking or wobbling. i complained to the dealership and finally got it in to be looked at in june, they told me the front axles needed to be replaced which was done on july 9th (i think that is the right date), within two weeks it started the same thing again, i took the vehicle back to the dealership last week and was told that the front axles were the problem and that they would replace them. i just got back from having the front axels replaced for the second time and this jeep is not even a year old. i am very concerned for the safety of myself and any passenger that i may carry with me. i bought this vehicle new so that i would not have this concern as my two children live states away from me and my husband passed away in november 2013, i am totally responsible forgetting myself to and from work and visiting my children. please let me know if this is common for this vehicle and if i need to have these fears for my safety. thank you *tr
