Following was sent to us customs. i'm at risk in this car, by jaguar design error-and refusal to correct the error. [xxx] in my case the car suddenly and spontaneously, without apparent reason, went into what jaguar calls 'limp home' mode, a walking pace. fortunately it happened on an urban parkway, posted at 55 mph, and i had just turned right, on to it, into the right-hand lane. the problem is common to jaguar cars as shown by internet postings. jaguar have stated that limp home cannot be disabled because it is intended for the safety of the mechanical parts of their cars. i have a string of communications running from november 2nd that i could send to provide greater detail, but i'd like to know what you folks can do, and whether there are good legal ground to support my demands. i have made this initial contact with us customs because jaguar exports cars to the us with unstable computer systems compromising their safety and i believe that you connect with nhtsa. but my problem is immediate and i'd like some assurance that my case will be dealt with quickly, and that i can be in contact with a person that i can send further material to. attached is initial letter to jlr. at their request i contacted jlr north america in mah wah nj. (jaguar land rover north america executive case: 8000216414 / your 2006 s-type.) they sent me on to local dealers. all have stated they won't disable the limp home mode because it protects the mechanical parts of the car ... (and puts humans at risk as a result). they have been as capricious in dealing with my complaint as they have been with the careless design of their limp home mode! i think jlr has failed the u.s. import regulations and would like cbp to order them to disable the limp home mode. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr*jb

When i bought the car a week later it blew hot air, i was told it only needed freon. i found out later that there was a leak and it is $1200. a week after that the car would not start the dealer picked the car up and said that the battery was dead because i left the radio on, it has happened over 30 times, not true there is something wrong. i have replaced tires at least six times. tires completely separate. i was driving and car slowed down on freeway and i was almost hit, i pulled over and it stopped and did it again and i had to push the traction control button, almost cost me my life! it now happens when i hit a bump. when i turn the car makes a extremely loud noise, (embarrassing) i was told it is a ball joint and can catch on fire. engine light has always been on and is now blinking and the car shakes and hesitates. i had to pay to get the brakes fixed 2 months after purchasing. radio turns on for no reason and runs battery down. i was told i have two leaks in my shocks and it is $1800 each. when i back up and turn the steering wheel vibrates. i can't even use the cigarette lighter to charge my cell because it does not work and has been replaced twice. the remote just stop working and i was charged $100 to reconfigure. the brakes act funny, can't even explain it. this car is unreal, a complete piece of junk. i can't even remember half the stuff i have endured and the money i have spent. *nm
