Serious corrosion on the frame. the passenger side of the vehicle where the control arm attaches to the frame is completely rusted out just beyond the strut mount recall location. the dealership deemed it not able to be fixed and was told by both the dealership and consumer affairs that its not their problem. while driving 55 mph i started hearing a knocking noise in the right front. soon after the wheel started shaking while turning left. knocking got worse and it started to sway uncontrollably while turning. had it towed to dealership where it is still sitting and not able to be driven. updated 08/29/2017*js
Tl* the contact owns a 2000 infinti qx4. the contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the power steering failed and the steering wheel became extremely hard to maneuver without warning. the contact mentioned that the vehicle was previously repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 11v244000 (steering). the vehicle was taken to a dealer, who diagnosed that the failure was due to rust. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 198,000.
When driving the vehicle above 45 mph, the vehicle started shaking and swaying making it very difficult to keep the vehicle on the road. took the vehicle to an infiniti dealer who stated in their inspection report, "found passenger side frame rail mount (cradle to frame) broken and cracked". verbally the dealer said that the car's frame "simply rusted apart." *tr
