We have classified the 1 complaints from 1999 Infiniti QX4 about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
1. stereo amplifier fuse blew. (15 amp) 2. fuse replaced 3. while driving the car smelled smoke. 4. all dash lights and electrical system went black. 5. smoke started coming from under the dash board. 6. car remained running, head lights functioned. 7. after turning the car off, large amounts of smoke came from behind and under the dash board. 8. car would not start and all electrical system non responsive. 9. inspection of dash wiring harness revealed extreme melting and damage to interior wiring harness in the area of the fuse box and all connections to electrical systems. 10. vehicle is completely inoperable and at dealer for inspection and possible repair. 11. complication vehicle was manufactured for nissan north america and is now registered and driven in the middle east (manama, bahrain) not sure if nissan middle east will be aware of any recalls or problems with north american specifications. i am from the usa and the present owner of the vehicle, submitted because car was brought from the usa to middle east. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 1999 infiniti qx4. while driving approximately 30 mph, the contact lost control of the steering causing him to crash into a pole. the vehicle sustained damage to the front driver side. there were no injuries. the vehicle was towed to an auto shop where the mechanic advised that the steering shaft had fractured and caused the contact to lose control of the vehicle. the vehicle was repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 199,000. updated 06/14/2012 *js
