Recently reported STEERING problems on 2015 Hyundai Genesis

Lane keep assist freezes up steering wheel while driving making it hard to steer.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 hyundai genesis. while driving and making a turn, the steering wheel seized without warning. the vehicle was turned off and restarted, but the failure recurred. in addition, when the vehicle was shifted into drive, the instrument panel display reversed and the vehicle moved backwards instead of forward. the vehicle was towed to napleton hyundai glenview (located at 1620 waukegan rd, glenview, il 60025, (847) 729-8900) to be diagnosed, but a failure code could not be located. the dealer suggested that the gear shifter needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: 15620163. the approximate failure mileage was 42,000.

On 31 jan 2019-ice and snow collect in a pocket under the engine. freezing the electronic control module for the electronic steering. the "electronic steering light " came on, resulting in no steering function at all. auto had to be towed to the dealer. lucky for me i was in a parking lot. if i had been driving it would have been catastrophic. as i was picking up my auto, another one came in on a flatbed with the exact same issue.

When driving during heavy rain on the expressway the car begins to fishtail out of control. it forces the driver to drop their expressway speed to about 45 miles per hour. all the other traffic continues to pass by safely at speeds of 60 to 65 or more. this is a definite safety issue. when it began, i was nearly rear-ended by a semi when i was force to drive slowly in the right lane at only 40 to 45 in a 70 mph zone. if i dared to even try to go any faster the car would begin fishtailing. none of the other traffic had any issue going faster, and i never experienced this in the 2013 genesis i had previously. i have read of similar complaints and have been told that the car is reacting to its front sensor being 'blinded'. this is definitely a design flaw, and there does not appear to be any way to disable or inform the censor to ignore the present situation.

Since last october, the car's steering has periodically failed to return to center, after taking a right handed curve. the car just keeps turning. we have taken the car back to the dealership where we leased it; however, they have repeatedly failed to fix it. i have looked the problem up on the internet and found that it is definitely a safety problem that must be fixed. why not fix the problem before peple get hurt?

Nhtsa campaign number 16v575000 - my hyundai is experiencing the exact same symptoms that is portrayed in the campaign number i have listed. i have taken it to a hyundai dealership multiple times and have been told that they are unaware of what the issue is or have "attempted" to fix the issue yet it still occurs. now, because i have just surpassed my warranty, the hyundai dealership is making me pay for all diagnostics and fixes. my vin, however, does not show that this was a part of this recall. all of my warning indicators illuminate. my steering becomes tight. my backup camera will not work. and my speedometer and tachometer will glitch and not accurately display my speed or rpms. all indicators inside the lcd screen will show me that i have a malfunction. this includes my passenger seat belt, my lane keep assistance, my autonomous emergency braking, my tire pressure, my engine light, as well as my blinkers not properly illuminating or making any sound when turned on. this will occur from time to time and is not always constant. it will also occur at random, whether i am driving, stationary, or if i have just turned my car on for the first time of the day. i have videos and pictures of these events occurring.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 hyundai genesis. while driving approximately 35 mph, the contact experienced a loss of steering and brake functionality. various warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. the contact was able to move the vehicle to the side of the road with an excessive amount of effort. the vehicle operated normally after it was restarted. stevens creek hyundai (4425 stevens creek blvd, santa clara, ca) diagnosed that a rodent had eaten the wiring in the vehicle and it would need to be replaced. the contact stated that this was the second occurrence of the same failure. upon research, the contact found that the vehicle used soy coated wiring. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 14,837.

I was attempting to make a left turn into traffic when several dashboard indicators went off and the power steering shut down. my family and i were almost hit by on coming traffic! in seconds i was faced with having to turn off and restart the vehicle in order to get it to work correctly and get out of the road. got home and parked it over night and the next day the same thing happened again with steering and instrument cluster. i absolutely do not feel safe in this vehicle! 2015 genesis 5.0

A/c, heater vents located on the bottom (foot) for driver and front passenger are always stay open irregardless what you select. dealer looked twice, no help. said that's how all the cars are. i have myself checked the brand new 2017 genesis parker on the lot and it had the same problem. your feet will freeze and there is no way to block or close the bottom vents. also, the haptic steering wheel warning came on at around 5k miles, dealer looked at it order some parts to replace the sensor etc.

The car engine will spontaneously stop while the car is in motion. this causes me to lose all power steering, brakes stability control etc. this has happened on city street while the car was in motion. the car was moving forward in a relatively straight line. it has been "fixed" but not fixed. it is at the dealer for the 2nd "fix". the 1st "fix"was 10/12/15. the 2nd "fix" began 10/27/15 & is still underway. the consumer stated a diagnostic report found 32 codes. the consumer was provided a loaner vehicle. updated 10/25/2017*js

I owned the car for 9 months and never had a problem in the rain. it was raining and my car safety lights started flashing telling me that front collision warning was not working, lane departure warning was not working, blind spot detection was not working. and to check aeb system. hyundai told me that although it worked fine for 9 months, that the safety features may not work in the rain

After having all three work done on my car: four wheel replaced as stated on their campaign , cowl and electrical wiring replacement under , the vibration on the steering wheel becomes evident/stronger at lower speed(below 25 mph) and at idle. when driving i feel my hands feel tired because of this vibration affecting them. i went back to the dealership at hyundai long island, queens for the problem but after waiting for hours, i was told that they cannot do anything about the problem . and until now, the vibration is becoming an annoyance.

While driving at 60 mph, speedometer, odometer, turn signals, power steering assist and other accessories stopped functioning. *tr

While driving at about 25 mph, the power steering froze up on me.(fortunately), i was not driving fast, or on a bridge, freeway, etc. and was able to return to a safe location. i called a tow truck. towed to local hyundai dealer. after 20 days in shop, they replaced steering computer, rack and pinion steering too. i am appalled that a new (expensive) 2015 genesis with very low mileage, has had this problem. i am now very hesitant about the quality of the hyundai brand. i hope no one else has had this problem, because it is a real headache!!!
