My hyundai dealer called me today may 15, 2019 and said that the estimate to repair my genesis brakes would cost $2770.00 at a minimum, maybe more if the whole system had to be replaced. in other words; (please write a blank check to us.) this is a hyundai problem as a manufacturer. they put dot 3 fluid in the system at birth of the car and it caused corrosion interacting with the zinc plating internally. proper testing wasn't done prior to assembly signoff. the recall changed the fluid to dot 4 and in my case the fluid was not property drained and changed and my pictures of the fluid prove the separation and crud in the brake system. many genesis have had this problem and hyundai should be forced to make this repair on the affected cars. what is a bigger safety concern then having your brakes go out when applied. my car won't stop as the brake pedal goes to the floor all the way down.the abs & esc lights come on when this happened. the brake fluid was changed in 2014 and again in 2019. a new master cylinder, front brake lines, brake light switch and diode was installed in march 2019. took it to dealer in april 2019 and they all was ok except esc light was on. drove it home and less then 60 miles the brakes petal again went to the floor. taking it back to dealer in lima, oh on may 15, 2019. i put in a complaint to consumer [email protected], but the girl who returned the call, read from a script and said sorry, your car is out of warranty. please reference your case number 15737333. this car is unfit to drive and from other postings, it will cost $2500 to repair. the cars value is between $3600/5600 dollars.this is an on going safety problem that hyundai has put off making a proper repair, relying on time and miles to get out of a safety recall. i'm uploading photos of brake fluid taken from my car in march and april 2019.
My brake lights will not come on when i press the brake pedal. i have had the fuses checked and they are all working. i contacted my local hyundai dealership after researching the recall on the brake light switch. they will not perform the recall because they said it was already done twice. but there is obviously a proble if its happening again.
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 hyundai genesis. the contact was informed by eyewitnesses that the brake lamps on the vehicle failed to illuminate. the vehicle was serviced per nhtsa campaign numbers: 14v713000 (exterior lighting) and 13v113000 (service brakes), but the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. the manufacturer was not notified. the dealer advised the contact to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic testing, but the location was over an hour and a half away. the failure mileage was approximately 165,000.
Brakes lights have gone out. hyundai is aware of the problem but i am not aware of any recall. hyundai issued tsb 09-be-023 technical service bulletin 09-be-023, stop lamp z01 diode inspection procedure, appears to describe the location and procedure for troubleshooting of the diode but describes the issue as " . . . vehicles may experience the stop lamps blinking on and off even when brakes are not applied."
I own a 2009 hyundai genesis clearly affected by the recall on brake fluid that affects the brake module. my car has been deemed too dangerous to drive, but was never included in the recall efforts according to my service advisor. i being asked to pay an exorbitant amount to replace the abs module. my advisor has informed me that my vin # is not included in the recall efforts. so, it appears that although i own a 2009 which is a year that is affected with this problem....my safety does not matter for some reason. my car is experiencing the same issues and will probably create an accident if it is driven. my car should also be included and i do not understand why it is not. the brakes can be depressed all the way to floor board and the car will still begin to roll forward. it will not stop completely! this has been an ongoing issue for a months now and the dealer is telling me my car is not covered by this recall! i am putting today's date, but it has been months now and my safety should be considered as well before something terrible happens.
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 hyundai genesis. while driving and attempting to stop the vehicle, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard. the brakes had to be pumped in order to stop the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing and it was determined that the brakes were fine. the contact stated that the brake failure recurred the very next day. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder failed and the abs hydraulic unit needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 39,305.
While driving at low speed, and applying brakes, my break pedal went all the way to floor. no lights or warnings were displayed. this condition continued until home. the next morning brakes worked normally and have for two weeks now.
2009 hyundai genesis, in motion street and highway. total brake failure. no warning, no dashboard light warning. columbia hyundai advised that the brake failure is due to failure of the abs control box. in other words total, un-announced failure of anti skid control box caused a complete brake system failure in this car.
When attempting to stop the vehicle the brakes went low to the floor. took to dealership said that the abs system needed to be replaced. this is a known issue with the 2009 genesis but since they had checked it in 2014 it would not be an issue for us. this was not true and others may have the problem if the abs system is not replaced.
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 hyundai genesis. while driving approximately 75 mph, the brake pedal felt stiff and made an abnormal noise. the vehicle slowed down to 30 mph and would not increase when the accelerator pedal was depressed. there were no warning lights illuminated. the contact proceeded to pull over to the shoulder and called roadside service. the vehicle was turned off and restarted. the electronic stabilty control light iluminated and the vehicle resumed normal operation. the dealer stated that the brake rotors overheated. the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure and the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 70,060.
On september 19, 2015, when approaching a red light, the brake pedal went all the way to the floorboard and the car would not stop. repeated pumping of the pedal finally brought the car to a stop. within an hour a second event occurred on the freeway when approaching another car from the rear. the brake pedal had no resistance and went all the way to the floorboard. it has not occurred again. two days later i took the car (carefully) into the dealer. they have, as yet, been unable to replicate the problem (as hyundai requires for warranty consideration). however, i will not drive this car or let my wife use it until this is diagnosed and repaired. it is extremely unsafe. this type of brake failure has been noted repeatedly in the 2009 hyundai genesis. i am stuck with an unusable car and a manufacturer who will not recognize the severity of this issue. the dealer does not want to repeatedly subject their staff to the risk of an accident but hyundai requires the problem be validated by another occurrence when driven by dealer staff.
On 9/16/15 the brakes on my 2009 hyundai genesis failed and the car would not stop as the brake pedal sank to the floor. i finally got the car to stop with excessive pumping of the brakes. on 9/16/15 i brought my car into jim ellis hyundai to fix the problem. the dealer inspected the car and couldn't replicate the issue i had experienced earlier in the day. the dealership ran diagnostics on the car and did not find any problems and now the brakes seem to be working fine. my car has 115,561 miles. this is the second visit to the dealership for this problem. on 04/30/15, i brought in the car for two recalls, one that included a brake fluid flush. a month later, i had a similar incident while driving on the highway that caused me to lose brake pressure.after a few days the problem subsided. i am seriously concerned about the safety of this automobile, especially after reading so many similar incidents already filed with the government.
At approximately 7:50am on my way to work, heading westbound on rodeo rd and was going to make a left turn at cloverdale my car stalled. during the stall the engine cutoff and the electrical power in the car seemed to reset itself. as i was coming to a stop, i could feel the brakes not working and i put the car into park and tried to restart the engine by pushing on the start/stop button. when that didn't work, all the power in the car went out and nothing worked, no emergency lights, no power anything. i called roadside assistance and had them tow to the nearest dealership. this is the second time this has happened. the first was on sunday night september 6th, 2015 at around 8pm in san jose. i put that as a complaint on this system at that time.
On 5/11/15 the brakes on my 2010 hyundai genesis failed and the car would not stop as the brake pedal sank to the floor. on 5/12/15 i brought my car into global auto mall and drove very slowly to the dealer, pumping the brakes at every stop along the way to get the car to stop. global auto mall diagnosed the problem and replaced the master brake cylinder assembly under warranty. my car had 45,381 miles on it at the time. on 8/29/15 the brakes on my 2010 hyundai genesis failed again and the car would not stop as the brake pedal sank to the floor. on 8/31/15 i brought my car into global auto mall driving very slowly to the dealer, pumping the brakes at every stop along the way to get the car to stop. my car had 49,179 miles on it at the time. global auto mall has stated that after running diagnostics on the car they did not find any problems and now the brakes are working fine. a recall on the braking fluid that caused corrosion on the abs module was performed on my car already, but there is no way for the technician to actually check for corrosion inside the abs assembly. i do not feel that the car is safe to drive and the brakes are going to fail again, as nothing was repaired on my vehicle.
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 hyundai genesis. while driving approximately 60 mph, the contact applied the brakes and the brake pedal traveled to the floor. there was no resistance. the vehicle was able to stop slowly. the contact placed the vehicle in park and continued to pump the brake pedal to increase the tension and the brake pressure returned to normal. the failure recurred intermittently. the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 89,000.
Brake pedal almost went to floor before it started to come to a stop. we didn't hit anything because we were in parking lot but if this had happened on the highway, there would have been an accident. this problem started suddenly and has continued. the car is now in a repair shop. there was a recall to replace the brake fluid and this was done in january 2014. the wrong brake fluid was in the car for four years before it was replaced. it seems reasonable that this current brake failure is due to the four years of improper brake fluid although hyundai will take no responsibility for this brake issue. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2009 hyundai genesis. the contact stated that when attempting to engage the brakes, the brake pedal went to the floor without any warning. the contact was included in nhtsa campaign id number: 13v489000 (service brakes, hydraulic) and indicated that the dealer only replaced the factory brake fluid. the contact stated that the dealer did not inspect the hecu module for proper operation. the contact stated that months later, the failure recurred. the recall repair did not remedy the failure and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer who diagnosed that the hecu needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 88,000. updated 4/7/15*cn
While returning home today i was on the freeway when traffic slowed suddenly i braked somewhat firmer than normal and pedal went soft and traveled to the floor. i pumped the brakes quickly but pedal stilled traveled close to the floorboard. i stopped just barely in time, probably just a few inches from the car in front of me. so the brake system failed somewhere in the hydraulics i believe. i am aware there has been many complaints of this car doing this. *tr
When i try stopping the brake pedal pushes to the bottom but doesn't stop the car. the brakes fail. i brought it into hyundai service and they said they can't duplicate the problem. it happens around 50% of the time while driving. *tr
While traveling on the highway, the brake pedal went nearly to the floor before the car began to decelerate. it was clear that the car could only slow moderately regardless of how hard i pressed the brake pedal, and there was no brake engagement at the top of the pedal travel. at home, i took photos of the pedal displacement relative to the firewall and can provide them. photo 1 shows the state of the pedal when i arrived home. imagine the amount of pedal force you might use while parallel parking or slowing for an off ramp on the highway. with that amount of force, the pedal was within ~2" of the firewall. pumping the brake pedal led to increased "feel" and restoring brake effectiveness. photo 2 shows a larger gap to the firewall after 5 pedal repetitions, and with increased force applied. photo 3 shows an even larger gap after ~20 pedal repetitions and even higher force applied. the final photo shows that at maximum force, i could only get the pedal to ~3" from the firewall. this was similar to the state that the vehicle was in this morning, and felt "normal" in terms of pedal effort and travel. to reiterate: during the failure, the pedal would push to within 2" of the firewall with minimal effort, and with little braking effectiveness. i could not have performed a panic braking maneuver in this state, and only continued to drive due to the lack of traffic and proximity to my home. after subsequent pedal cycling in my driveway, i could only get the pedal to more than 3" from the firewall with maximum effort, and the base braking function appeared to be normal. to date, the dealer has been unable to reproduce the problem and thus unable to gain authorization from hma to perform any repair. i consider the car undriveable. this vehicle was already serviced for the hecu/brake fluid recall. hecu passed the screening at that time. *tr
The brake pedal, when applied, traveled well beyond the normal point of stopping, almost to the floor. braking effectiveness and results were greatly diminished and the pedal was extremely "spongy"/not firm as normal. in an emergency stopping situation, the car simply could not have stopped in time to avoid collision. this was not an intermittent occurrence. once the symptom manifested itself, it has done do consistently. the car has been delivered to the humble tx hyundai dealership which has identified the hecu component as the problem, and not the master cylinder. unfortunately the service writer has not recognized the recall action required for this component. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2009 hyundai genesis. the contact stated that when the brake pedal was depressed, the pedal sank to the floor and failed to respond. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 48,600.
Brake pedal suddenly requires more travel to engage brakes. it requires a lot of force to get the pedal to engage. had brakes checked by independent mechanic and all signs point to hecu. hyundai will repair newer models of the genesis but for my year they are not. it appears to be a common issue with other owners of the genesis, as well. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 hyundai genesis. while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle failed to respond when the brake pedal was depressed. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 74,000.
In july 2014, i visited my local hyundai dealership to take care of a recall notice that i had received and they promptly took care of two recalls, one of which was campaign 114 - replacing brake fluid and inspecting the hydraulic ecu (hecu). the recall has to do with the old fluid corroding portions of the hecu and causing brake failure. well to that point, i had not had any brake failures or problems, but it was within a week of the inspection i applied the brakes very hard to stop and avoid hitting a car on the highway, the brakes worked fine, but upon hitting the brakes a second time, the pedal went all the way to floor before any braking was applied to the wheels. it stayed that way for the remainder of my trip (some 10-15 more miles) i attempted to pump the brakes and even stopped at a local gas station and turned the car off and on again to see if it remedied the problem, it did not. when i returned home, i began to look into what would cause this, and that is when found out that campaign 114 was in play to actually attempt to prevent this type of disaster. the next day i drove a different vehicle to work and when i returned home (still the month of july 2014) i tried the brakes on the hyundai again and they seemed to work fine. i cautiously drove the car and didn't have another failure until today, when i was on the highway and applied the brakes harder than usual, the very next braking event my pedal again went all the way to the floor. i assume that whenever a hard braking event occurs these symptoms return. i made it to work and spent 4-5 hours there and left early to the dealer told them the story and said they are working fine right now since the car was off and on again, and while they are still investigating this, they told me already that the hecu is checking out ok. this is dangerous and needs to be recalled. *tr
In september, i was driving to work on the interstate and was exiting. traffic was backed up on the exit ramp and so i was braking at the top of the exit ramp. there was a bump at the transition from asphalt to concrete and i hit that bump while i was braking. the brake pedal immediately went all the way to the floor but i was already slowed down so i did not hit the car in front of me on the ramp. the brake pedal continued to be mushy but i was able to pump the brakes numerous times and the brakes started to work again. on november 4, 2014, i was driving to work on a surface street and had to stop for a pedestrian. while i was braking, my right front tire hit a pothole and then the brake pedal went all the way to the floor. the car slowed but did not stop completely. i turned into my parking garage for work and the brake pedal continued to sink all the way to the floor every time i needed to stop. i inched into a parking space and continued to work. when i was going home, i turned the car on and pumped the brake pedal numerous times but the pedal continued to be mushy. i was able to stop because the brakes would suddenly grab just before the brake pedal was all the way to the floor. i made it home slowly and am getting the brakes looked at today. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 hyundai genesis. while driving at an unknown speed, the brakes failed and the brake pedal sank to the floor. the dealer stated that the inner ball joints and the hydraulic electronic control unit failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired and the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
Brake lights quit working entirely. there was a recall on the brake switch on this vehicle which was replaced on 12/08/13. seven months later there is a problem with the brake lights and the service manager is telling me now it is a led diode. this diode, z01, seems to be a problem. i did not have any issues with my brake lights before the recall work was done and,i've own this car since it was new, now 7 months later i have a brake light issue. this is a serious matter and should be rectified. *tr
Brakes were applied and there was excessive pedal travel to the floor and severely reduced brake effectiveness. this has happened multiple times since the initial occurrence. *tr
I approached a stop sign and prepared to stop. the brake pedal felt normal at first, but suddenly the pedal went nearly to the floor. the abrupt change in the pedal, position resulted in my proceeding half way through the intersection before stopping. fortunately there was no cross traffic at the time. my dealer diagnosed the problem as a failure of the abs module, a $2500 repair. hyundai issued a recall on my vehicle to replace the brake fluid which was felt to be corrosive and could result in failure of the abs module. i had this performed in december of last year. hyundai's warranty covers this part for 60,000 miles or 5 years. my car is no longer covered by the warranty since it is over 5 years old, and in spite of the low mileage, hyundai so far has denied any compensation. obviously the intended fix, changing the brake fluid, did not work, and caused the module failure. since the company was aware that this could happen, it seems the proper thing to do would be to extend the warranty on this part for older vehicles. *tr
I have encounter this problem multiple time with this vehicle through out my ownership. i bought the vehicle new and have encountered lost of brake lights repeatedly. i am usually informed during a scheduled maintenance that i have no brake lights. the service department replace the z01 diode, but it doesn't seem to be a permanent fix, because i've had this part replaced repeatedly due to lost of brake lights. the lost of brake lights is a very danger situation for all drivers that could result in crash, injury and fatalities. this seems to be a common issue with hyundai genesis vehicles per my investigation online. *tr
This complaint is in junction with the brake fluid recall for hyundai genesis. had to step on my break all the way to the floor in order to stop vehicle. almost crashed into car ahead of me. took vehicle immediately to dealership. notified by dealer that the hydraulic electric control unit needs replacement. did research and realized most likely due to the corrosive brake fluid that is a known recall. dealership is being difficult in replacing hecu even though it is clearly related to the corrosive brake fluid recall. this is a serious safety hazard as if i was driving faster or braked later it could have been a multi vehicle accident. *tr
Forty five minutes after picking up my new ( to me ) car at the dealership i had purchased it from i was driving down the road and in an instant i had to step on the brakes hard because the truck in front of me stopped quickly to make a left hand turn. upon doing so the brake pedal went all the way down and i crashed into the truck. after the crash i restarted the car to move it to the side of the road and it stopped normally like it should. i was left with the feeling that i had no brakes for that instant. totally un aware of a brake recall on the new car, when i found out later that night about the recall i was upset because i couldn't believe that a well established 30 years in business dealership would sell me a car and not have mentioned or even taken care of it. on the following monday after the accident i called hyundai motor of america to verify that my new to me genesis had never been recalled (repaired yet ) . hyundai said they were sorry and sent me out an investigation packet that i am currently filling out and gathering information for. they also asked me what i was seeking from hyundai. i replied. i wanted my car fixed perfect. the truck i hit repaired. my recall taken care of and would like some sort of statement or document stating that my car was prone to brake failure so i can appeal the sir charge i will receive from my insurance company for the next five years at 500-600 per year for an at fault accident. my car was towed away to a body shop with considerable damage and is currently unable to be driven. *tr
I was traveling approximately 25 mph in a residential neighborhood, preparing to come to a stop at an intersection when i depressed the brake pedal and it went all the way to the floor without stopping the car. i pumped the brakes and it then engaged and stopped the car. i carefully and slowly drove the car to the dealership the following morning. after inspecting the car, the dealership told me that the hecu and abs module would need to be replaced and the brake fluid flushed and replaced. they said this would cost about $3,000 and they contacted my extended warranty insurance carrier to attempt to get the cost covered by insurance. a day later the dealership told me that the insurance company had sent an inspector out to test drive the car and would send another inspector tomorrow to inspect the hecu and abs module and they're still attempting to work with them to get the cost covered. i took the car in for the safety recall on 10/24/13 and the brake fluid was replaced, and i also had new brakes installed on 3/8/14, yet i still had the brakes fail a month later. hyundai should be doing the repairs without question and instead they're trying to get the extended warranty insurance carrier to cover it and i'm having to wait it out while they bicker about costs. *tr
The brakes light have failed more than once and now don't work at all... i looked deeper into the issue and it looks like a diode needs to be replaced. this needs to be a recall it is a major safety issue and has happened to numerous owners. *tr
The brakes became spongy, increased travel, and lost stopping power. i had to press the pedal all the way to the floor to avoid an accident. i have had the brake fluid replaced, but suspect that this is due to corrosion that already occurred from the faulty brake fluid and abs module. i would appreciate any assistance in convincing hyundai of this. *tr
brake pedal went almost to the floor. thought i lost my brakes. *tr
Brake pedal went to floor. very difficult to stop vehicle. this is an intermittent problem and does not happen all the time. typically has occurred once or twice per month. this continues even after having the master cylinder replaced and filling a complaint with the nhtsa. hyundai checked the hecu module under their recall campaign #114 and states the hecu is within specs. however, since this is an intermittent issue they cannot diagnosis the problem until it fails. cannot drive vehicle as we cannot predict next time this failure will occur. *tr
I was driving at 45 mph approaching an intersection and observed the traffic signal turn red. i applied the brakes and the pedal freely sunk to the floor while i had no braking power. i let up on the brake pedal and pumped the pedal and after several pumps had weak braking. i was able to stop after rolling partly into the intersection. while at a stop, i then pumped the brake pedal and noted i had braking power but the pedal would fall all the way down under continuous pressure. i was able to drive home cautiously noting the same situation with the brake pedal. *tr
On 11/5/13, i received email noticed from nhtsa's odi of campaign id number 13v489. upon clicking the link i was provided further information including the following: "hyundai will inspect the hecu module for proper operation, and will replace the modules as necessary." after receiving a notice from hyundai for a different recall (13v113), i contacted hyundai, and made an appointment to have recall service for both campaigns done at carousel hyundai, west chester, pa on 12/17/2013. carousel insisted the brake fluid service was based did not include component inspection based on service bulletin 13-01-006-02, and failed to perform an inspection, but noted on my invoice "completed campaign tl6 as required." on 12/30/13, i contacted hyundai by telephone, asked why the dealership did not have the proper information to perform the inspection and was told that the recall information was not available to the dealership until after my vehicle was taken in for service on 12/17/13. i was then informed that if i wanted the brake system components inspected for corrosion damage, i would need to take the vehicle in for an additional recall service. since nhtsa provided me with the proper recall information for this campaign on 11/5/13, it is not clear why hyundai failed to provided this information to their authorized service network until after 12/17/13, more than 30 days later, resulting in improper servicing to complete the nhtsa campaign. many consumers are unlikely to challenge the lack of inspection and may therefore continue driving vehicles that are improperly serviced, and present a potential life safety and collision damage risk. meanwhile, i will be required to wait longer and spend additional time to have the proper servicing performed. carousel did take the time to inform me about other, unrelated, servicing they recommended, and offered to perform for a fee. *tr
Driving in a 45 mph road, there was a traffic light that turned red. my speed before starting to brake was approximately 40 mph. when i pressed the brake pedal, it went almost to the floor and the car was not stopping. immediately i pumped the brake pedal several times and fortunately the brakes slowed down the car until it came to a stop almost at the middle of the intersection. it was a blessing that there was no other car in front of me or crossing the intersection at the time. drove home very slowly and towed the vehicle to the service center. abs module was replaced at a cost of over $2400.00. a few months before the car had the brake fluid replaced due to a vehicle recall from hyundai. service performed by the same service center that replaced the faulty abs module. *tr
Tl* the contact owns 2009 hyundai genesis. the contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph and applying the brakes, the brake pedal abnormally traveled to the floorboard. the vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnosis. the contact stated that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v489000 (service brakes, hydraulic) which stated that the hecu module would be replaced as necessary however, the technician refused to replace the hecu module under the recall and stated that they would only replace the brake fluid. the manufacturer was contacted and advised that the dealer was not authorized to replace the hecu module. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 73,000.
While driving the car at 5.20 pm on monday december 2, 2013, my brakes failed. the brake pedal almost went to the floor, were very soft, and only barely worked. i managed to stop the car without hitting any other vehicle. since i was close to home, i carefully maneuvered the car to my garage where it was safely parked. on tuesday morning (the next day) i had the car towed to shawnee mission hyundai. that afternoon they called me back to say that the problem was complete failure of the brake control module (hecu). upon investigation, and without any advice or assistance from the people at hyundai, i have discovered that this is a known issue for hyundai, and the subject of a recall. i am writing to inform the authority that the parts failed on my car. *tr
I had to take my car into service due to two recalls that had been posted. one for the brake switch and the second for the brake fluid. in addition to that, my wife had also mentioned to me that the brakes felt "sponge-y". once i got to the local dealership and notified the service advisor what issues i had, he told me that my car needs a new abs module. i did some online research and discovered that there have already been similar complaints filed for this problem. i would like to add myself to that list of consumers who have this vehicle with this problem. i look forward to having this issue being resolved. *tr
Tl* the contact owns 2009 hyundai genesis. the contact stated that while at a stop, the brake pedal abnormally traveled to the floorboard. the contact mentioned that the failure would recur intermittently. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the hydraulic electronic control unit needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under nhtsa campaign number:13v489000 (service brakes, hydraulic). the vehicle was repaired under the recall in april of 2013 but the failure recurred. the approximate failure and current mileage was 100,000.
Brought my car in to address a recall on the brakes. 10 days after they flushed my brake fluid i noticed i had to push down hard on the brake pedal for the car to stop. i brought the car in and they said the master cylinder needs to be replaced at my cost. i have two young children and i'm extremely concerned about the safety of this vehicle. *tr
I experienced brakes issues with my 2009 hyundai genesis on 31 oct 13. driving home from work, i had to push my brakes all the way to the ground and pump them several times to get the vehicle to stop. i called the hyundai dealership to get an appointment for my car, they were able to see my car on 4 nov 13 (today). i received a call from the hyundai representative (waldorf, md - store #md041) this morning notifying me that my car's brake system - hydraulic electronic control unit is failing. this seems to happening more often to these particular cars. i was told the brake fluid was replaced in my car in march 2013. the change of the brake fluid was to prevent this from happen. the brake fluid did not prevent this from happening to my vehicle. i believe hyundai should recall/fix the faulty hydraulic electronic control unit for the hyundai genesis versus the customers paying a $3,000.00 bill which is unnecessary. *tr
Sudden loss of brake pressure. brake pedal became very mushy, and had to be pressed all the way down to brake the car. after brake was pumped a couple of times, issue went away. appears to be caused by a faulty abs hydraulic module. after the incident, did some research on the genesis owners forums, and seems like the same issue has affected a number of other vehicles as well. http://www.genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=9926&page=7. *tr
This is the second time in a week where the brakes have just failed. the brake pedal will go all the way to the floor. after pumping the pedal pressure is restored. concerned about safety going forward. *tr
While driving my 2009 hyundai genesis i was motioned by driver behind me of no brake lights i quickly pulled over and engine running and sure enough my cousin who was with me said i had no brake lights,i the went to the nearest auto parts place turned engine off, and asked the manager what to do.his suggestion was check the fuses, which i did, they where fine.at that point i decided to drive home, car won't start won't come out of park and warned steering locked .i then called roadside assistance provided free of charge by hyundai.the driver of the tow truck could not start the car could not turn wheel he then when under the dash broke steering lock mechanism and was able to turn the wheel, car still wont start.after all the repairs where done i was charged $1461.01 for replacement of lock assembly ,diode, bolt safety lock, wire jumper.i feel this all thing was due to brake light failure and the rest of the damage by the tow truck driver.we are in litigation. *tr
