Keyless remote system problem. noticed this problem after reaching 36,000 miles

I was driving in stop and go traffic on a freeway, my foot was on the brake and car was in drive, when i took my foot off break and pushed gas pedal the car would not go. i tried to put it in park and it would not go, i tried to turn off car and it wouldn't turn off. the message on the dashboard said to push brake and turn on car (same message as when i remote start car) after 2 solid minutes, the car finally drove. the problem seems to be impacted by the econ mode which shuts off engine when brake pedal is fully engaged. you are able to turn this mode off on the gear shift but have to do it every time you start the car.

I had two big issues (some small issues as well) for my 2016 honda pilot. first is the paint issue, the paint on the door was off and the doors were rusted pretty bad. i spent a lot to time go back and forth with the dealership, both of us were tired of this issue. another issue just happened to me today, "keyless start system problem" showed up today, the walk away auto-lock feature does not work anymore, after couple of drives, the error message goes away, but the walk away feature still does not work. i have searched online and i believe a lot of owners have this issue. my car just went out of warranty at about 38k miles, and i saw online a lot of owners saw this message around this mileage. i have been a long time honda owner, but this new pilot makes me very upset all the time. a lot of issue. a lot...

Beginning about 4 or 5 months ago with about 38000 or 39000 miles on my vehicle i started to receive the message "keyless start system problem" on my dashboard display. as of now, this message appears to have no affect on the operation of the vehicle. however, i must admit i hold my breath every time i start the car and also am concerned that it will have some disastrous effect at a very inopportune and dangerous time. this message comes and goes - sometime lasting a couple of start/stop/restart cycles, sometimes hours or days at a time. only appears or disappears with the starting of the car - never (yet) after the engine is running. i have discussed this problem with 3 dealers and none is familiar with it. from what i have been reading (on honda pilot user group forums) dealers have just been replacing parts that sound like they could have something to do with the problem. i have written american honda in ca - am awaiting reply.

When going to start the vehicle, continually get "keyless start problem". have been to the dealer 3 times where they say they cannot find any errors logged. i even have pictures of it. sometimes the car won't even start at all. we at one time had to have it towed after trying to start it for 30 minutes. got a new batter and problem still exists. have replaced batteries in both key fobs. been to 2 other mechanics and no one has any idea what the issue is. the car is always at rest and stitting when this happens. the warninig light won't go off until after the car is turned off.

Keyless start system error appears randomly and the walk away lock feature no longer works. it happens in all types of weather with both key fobs. batteries were also changed in the key fob. seems like a common issue with no clear answer why

Our 3 year old car at about 28,000 miles started displaying the warning message "keyless start system problem" nearly almost every time it is started. (note, this problem developed the month after it's warranty expired...) when the message first displayed we took it to the dealer, they could not find any problem with the starting system, only that our electronics system needed an update. with the update, the message disappeared for a few weeks, but has now returned and is appearing nearly every time we start the car. this happens regardless of whether mine or my wife's key is used, and changing the battery in the keys has not changed anything either. we have never had an actual issue with starting the car, it's just that we now have to live with this constant warning light. in looking online, there are multiple forums dedicated to this exact issue for 2016 honda pilot's and it sounds like it is fairly well established issue for this make / model.

My vehicle without warning would not start after getting home and parked in the garage. after several attempts the panel states and ignition system error. all of the lights and other functions work well but it will not start while physically in the vehicle or with the remote. it makes a continuous clicking sound all of the lights flash on the vehicle but nothing more.

When starting car, keyless start problem comes up on dash. car starts fine, everything works. but warning remains until car is shut off. taken to dealer several times, replaced batteries at the dealer. they have no answers. even made sure my purse or phone were not the issue. at a loss. problem started in november. almost 38,000 miles on it. seems like this is the magic number according to other complaints i have read. the remote start does not always work. tried it at a close proximity and it worked but the warning came up as keyless start system problem. it never did that before. again, everything seems to work fine, there is something wrong none the less.

When trying to start vehicle you receive 'keyless start system problem'. taken to the dealer twice and not able to diagnose the issue. vehicle has 49000 miles today and have had this intermittent issue since 42000 miles. fob batteries have both been replaced and supposedly reprogrammed. still unable to resolve. let me know if and how you were able to resolve the issue.

At 37000 miles keyless system start problem error showed on the dash. shortly after the ignition push to start button began to intermittently not work. the error message and start button problem has persisted with the start button becoming worse. it now can take several tries to start the car and shut the car off. it is extremely stressful especially if you have an emergency and cannot get the car to go!

Keyless starter system error message and it no longer auto locks.

Ever so often all of the engine warning lights will cycle. it will sometimes last for 3 days and then reset itself. then about a month or so later the lights will start cycling again. the car was stationary. the car had just been started. before starting the car i did open and close the back hatch. the very first time the 5 lights cycled is when the back hatch jammed when closing. it hit something in the door jamb. the warning lights were: trailer stability assist problem, hill start assist problem, vehicle stability assist problem, power steering problem and emissions system problem.

Vehicle turns off completely when auto off feature engages while in a stopped condition. on two occasions, vehicle refused to restart for several minutes. the first time, the vehicle restarted after 2-3 minutes, the second time it happened, car would not restart until 10-15 min after the occurrence. during both occurrences, i was in a stop condition with foot on the brake, vehicle in drive. dealer says battery tests fine and cannot replicate the issue, but i know there are others experiencing same problem. this is a major safety issue. only out of shear luck, it happened to me while at a residential gate key pad punching in the code, and then today while in the drive thru of a fast food place. if this would happen on a busy street, at a busy intersection, while sitting in standstill traffic on interstate, etc, it could be extremely dangerous.

Indicator light: keyless start problem i was told the start switch needs to be replaced. $300. less than 50,000 miles.

Keyless start system problem and automatic lock doesn't work when leavi the car.

Vehicle randomly does not automatically restart after auto idle stop engages when in stop-go traffic on freeway or when stopped at intersection, resulting in a stalled vehicle in the middle of freeway or intersection. attempts to manually restart the vehicle generally successful after frantically (or slowly!) pushing the start-stop button several times. video documenting issue available at https://1drv.ms/v/s!aqy6pdpsaknnnn5fxrz2ngstmnd0cg (additional videos available). issue ongoing since ~ october 2018. dealer has replaced battery & engine start-stop button to no avail.

Power steering, emissions, trailer stability, hill assist warning indication displayed on dash. all of them at the same time one right after the other. i couldn't drive the car because of all of these warnings.

Auto stop malfunction first year of owning the pilot elite, the auto stop function worked and would restart after coming to a stop. by the second year, after coming to a stop in city traffic and engine is supposed to come back on, it stalls and shuts off and needs to be shifted to neutral and then restart engine. have taken the car for services since having this issue and reporting the issue to the dealership and they are unable to fix the issue or replicate the problem. now into year 3 of ownership the auto stop function has gotten worse because now when it shuts off after auto stopping, it takes a couple of minutes before you are able to restart the car. this is very unsafe at an intersection when the light turns green. only way around this issue is to disable the auto stop function at the beginning of the drive which defeats the purpose of having such a function and we aren't able to permanently disable the function. i have reported this problem each and every time i have taken it in to the dealership for service and they have run diagnostics and said they weren't able to replicate the issue.

Auto start-stop fails to re-start engine after shutting off at a stop/stationary. fix has been having to place the vehicle in park, shut off engine & restart engine. multiple dash malfunction lights also illuminate.

My vehicle is displaying the keyless ignition error and it just so happens that its a known issue among many many other 2016 honda pilot owners. i feel this is a scam to get us to drop money at the dealership. my car was running, opening up fine until all of a sudden that message popped up. what a coincidence this is happening at tthe same time as everyone else.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 honda pilot. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start when attempting to drive. also, while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact was not able to coast the vehicle to the side of the road. while in traffic, the vehicle restarted independently after ten minutes and was able to drive normally. the vehicle was taken to honda cars of katy (21001 katy fwy, katy, tx 77450) where it was diagnosed, but the failure could not be duplicated. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and opened case number: 08934725. the approximate failure mileage was 29,000.

This vehicle stalls when the brake is depressed. the engine should restart when your foot comes off the brake. it does not restart. in order to restart the engine, the vehicle has to be put in park position, put foot back on brake, & hold the start button until the vehicle restarts. this is a serious safety issue in traffic.

The car continually stalls at red lights and other full stops after the "auto-shutoff" engages. the car fails to restart and results in dangerous situations in high traffic areas in the city. the car can not be moved easily because it becomes completely unresponsive, even disabling the flashers. it has happened repeatedly.

Around 38,000 miles on the 2016 honda pilot, it started to show an error on the screen in the dash saying "keyless start system problem" that cause the car not to work on the autolock feature when you walk away or the automatic timer lock which is set at 30 seconds. after 30 seconds, the car doesn't lock at all. leaving the vehicle being unlocked and possibly being stolen. took it to the dealer and the dealer is asking $307 dollars to replace the start button. this should be covered by honda since it is an electrical system problem that was not caused by the owner. many other people are complaining about the same issue on forums.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 honda pilot. while the vehicle was stationary and while driving various speeds, the "auto idle disabler" feature engaged on several occasions. the vehicle stalled without warning after the brake pedal was depressed at a stop light. three weeks later, while driving approximately 15 mph on the freeway, the "auto idle disabler" feature engaged again while in heavy traffic and the vehicle stalled. the contact shifted the gear into park, disabled the power, and restarted the vehicle. in addition, while the vehicle was stationary, all of the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. while driving 55 mph, on another occasion, the vehicle failed to shift gears properly and the rpms rapidly increased to 5,000. also, the reverse gear shifter became inoperative and the gears would not shift while driving 55 mph. big star honda (11200 gulf freeway, houston, texas 77034) could not diagnose and duplicate the failures. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. the failure mileage was approximately 49,000. *dt *js

The car stalls intermittently when auto idle stop is engaged and car is stationary. instead of the engine starting up again after take foot off the brake and press the gas pedal, the car stalls completely and have to put the car in park, press the brake pedal and push the start button to get it on again. sometimes have to try several times before car restarts. dealer has been unable to find anything or replicate problem. first reported to dealer oct. 2017, did software update, but happened again june and july.

While driving all warning lights activated cycling through each of them. the vehicle lost almost all power causing a very unsafe and potentially fatal condition. several transmission and other codes were noted following the incident. honda tech line admitted that this condition was known to them very well but refuses to correct the problem unless it occurs repeatedly. online research shows this is a common problem but does not appear to have already been addressed by the ntsb.

Blower motor connector melted to wiring harness. unknown as to what caused this issues, roughly 31k miles.

The message "keyless start system problem" showed up in the information screen about a few weeks ago, it would come up intermittently, whenever i start the engine, and the message stays on the entire time the engine is runnning. when the engine is shut off, there will be a ding, and the message will stay on for a few minutes before going away. i took it to the local dealership, they had not encountered a message like that before, and could not figure out what was wrong. i already have over 42,000 miles on my vehicle, so the factory warranty has run out. today i took it back to the dealership, since that message is still showing up, and i finally have the time to leave it for a few hours. the service advisor said now there is a code for that issue, but i would have to pay for whatever repairs needed to fix the issue. i feel that this should be a manufacturing recall issue, perhaps with the electrical system, or with the keyless start system, and that i should not have to pay for this repair. i'm afraid of what would happen when the issue gets worse, especially when i go on vacation, and the engine will not start because of an error with the keyless start system affecting the push button start. again, the message does not come up everytime i drive. but today, on 6/28/2018, i have started the engine a total of 3 times while running errands around town, within 90 minutes, and this message has shown up every time i started the engine.

About 4 months ago i was at a stoplight, my engine shut down, as it was supposed to with the 'auto idle stop' function. it is supposed to start back up when you take your foot off the brake, but this time the car stalled. it stalled many times after this and it was always unexpected and scary. i took it into my dealer on june 6, 2018 and they said they could see that they could see in the computer that it stalled a few times, but could not reproduce the problem while test driving it. they did a reset on the electronics. that did nothing. i stalled a while after i left the shop. i stalled many more times after that. it does have an override to this 'auto idle stop' system, but you have to always remember to push the button and if i forgot and the car was in 'auto idle stop' mode and i pushed the button, many times the car would stall. i now also have a problem starting the car. when i push the start button, many times the engine won't start. i have to push it 3-4 times to get it to start. this makes my stalling even more dangerous, as if it was not dangerous enough, because it will take me much longer to start the car from a stall. i can imagine being in situations where i would have to be able to get out a situation quickly and if i stall i would not be able to. if i am on a freeway and stall in heavy traffic, or stalling on train tracks if i am in heavy traffic and i happen to be the car left on the tracks and can't start. or if a car or object is heading towards me and will crash into me and i can avoid it be speeding away. if i stall i can't. here is a thread from a honda pilot forum with many owners with the same problem. https://www.piloteers.org/forums/114-2016-third-generation-pilot/157005-elite-shuts-off-stop-light.html not one of them has had it fixed by there repair shop. my car has been in the shop for the 2nd time since august 8, 2018.

My vehicle has been cutting off, all power including all computer screens/dashboard/steering, which last 2-5 seconds, then cuts back on. the rpm will rev up to the 4-6 thousand range and at times the vehicle will no go over 45mph. this has happened at 35 mph to 70mph. while in park, absolutely no gear engaged, the vehicle will lurch forward and backward as though it was in gear. my foot will not even be on the brake pedal and it will move. last week the car was turned on, put in drive, i pushed the accelerator, the rpm's went to 4000 and the vehicle did not move. i looked down to make sure it was in drive, which is was, as i looked up the car lurched forward 2-3 feet. the emissions system, lane assist light come on randomly. it will tell me "steering required" even when i am driving and do not have the lane assist on. the dealer has replaced multiple parts, including "computer updates", the radar sensing system, but they cannot replicate the issue and have told me they cannot do anything about it. i have take the vehicle in at least 6-7 times in the last 2 months. the car is unsafe, still under warranty and the dealer told me "you are stuck with it". this car is a hazard to myself, my family and anyone else on the road. i have tried to deal with honda corporate and they will not respond. i believe, from my research, this is an issue with this model that honda refuses to acknowledge.

The tpms system isn't monitoring the wheels sensors. the sensors were check and are good. the problem is that tpms system that not appear in the control panel to reset this. the light of tpms system is on all the time. this occured to 37,000 milles aprox.

My 2016 honda pilot does not function properly. the "emissions" check engine light has come on three different times, all with less than 40,000 miles on the vehicle. the honda dealer claims that they fixed the problem each time; but that's not the case. the light continues to come on in during normal driving conditions.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 honda pilot. while operating the vehicle and while at a stop light, the auto idle stop feature activated normally, but the vehicle would not immediately restart when the driver released the brake pedal and depressed the accelerator pedal. the failure occurred on several occasions. during the failure, several instructional prompts appeared, explaining how to restart the vehicle. on one occasion, the vehicle could not be restarted and was towed to sterling mccall honda (22575 hwy 59 north, kingwood, tx 77339). while at the dealer, the vehicle operated normally and the cause of the failure was not determined. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 29,000.

Car won't start: keyless start problem error. i have replaced the battery two times in 2 years and doesn't fix the issue.

I have a "keyless start system problem" message on since the car is more than 37,000 miles. tried changing battery but it did not fix the problem. it does not seem to affect the driving. at 61,000 miles the dealer reset the code but after one day, the message came back. this issue disabled the autolock feature as you walk away. not sure what else is being disabled by this.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 honda pilot. while driving various speeds, the vehicle jerked, stalled, and all the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. the contact took the vehicle to honda of aventura (2150 ne 163rd st, north miami beach, fl 33162) numerous times. the battery was replaced and the software was updated several times. the contact was also informed that the failures were normal. the contact took the vehicle to holman honda (12 e sunrise blvd, fort lauderdale, fl 33304) and was informed that the brake assembly needed to be replaced. the contact had not directly notified the manufacturer of the failure. each dealer claimed to have notified the manufacturer. the vehicle was not repaired and remained in the possession of honda of aventura. the failure mileage was unknown.

The honda pilot 2016 keeps saying remote key less start system, the dealer is not able to fix it ,they dont know whats wrong ,it is going on for more than 5 months ,this happens when you try to start the car up

The keyless start system appears to be faulty. the vehicle has begun to intermittently, but increasingly, show a keyless start error that prevents the vehicle from being started with the starter button. multiple attempts are sometimes necessary to get the vehicle to start. a critical system such as this should not fail in this fashion, completely disabling the vehicle, given its current mileage of 44,610.

During extremely cold weather, all system failure indications scroll on the display. happens intermittently and will reset itself over time. i renders the systems useless as well. alarms include hill start assist, trailer stability assist, road departure mitigation assist, emissions, awd and eps. many of these systems are safety features and no longer respond until battery cable is removed or reset after time.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 honda pilot. when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle violently hesitated to drive and jerked. the vehicle was taken to colonial honda of dartmouth (225 state rd, dartmouth, ma 02747, (508) 996-6800) where the contact was informed that the software needed to be updated so that the vehicle would not overheat. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vin was not included in a recall. the failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 honda pilot. the contact stated that various warning indicators and gauges illuminated on the instrument panel cluster. the dealer (honda city long island, 3859 hempstead turnpike, levittown, ny 11756, (516) 735-8900) scheduled an appoinment and indicated that they provided a pgmfi software update, but it failed to provide a solution. the various warning indicators and gauges continued to illuminate. the manufacturer was notified of the failure to determine if they could provide a solution. the approximate failure mileage was 20,000.

On numerous occasions i have had all of the indicator lights on on my dash, including the lkas, collission mitigation, adaptive cruise control, road departure, and various notifications for my bluetooth, radio, and navigation come on. also, my back up camera will have a black screen and then my maps will be gray with no information. my car will suddenly brake when there is no one in front of me and surge forward as i'm trying to come to a stop, like my brakes aren't working. i also can't make any phone calls using the system, as it wont recognize any voice tags and instead gives me every contact in my phone book that may have a home number. recently the abs is activating as i turn my wheels to the right while backing out of parking spaces. these may happen while driving or while stationary. it just isn't safe. i've had people slam on their brakes to avoid my car as it suddenly stops for no reason and have feared that i may rear end someone due to it lurching forward, so now i stop really far back from other vehicles. i'm also experiencing a popping noise coming from my speaker system that seems to occur whenever my ac compressor switches on and off, leading me to wonder if i'm experiencing electrical issues with this vehicle. i've taken it to the dealer so many times and they say that they can't "duplicate" this. so i show them the photos and the videos. i'm not alone with many of these problems. i see others complaining as well. honda needs to repair our vehicles or buy them back. i've always loved honda's but after my experience with this vehicle, they may have lost me as a customer. my family's safety is too important to leave in the hands of a corporation that cares more about their bottom line, than their customers.

On numerous occasions, beginning just months after purchase, i have had all of the indicator light turn on on my dash, including the lkas, collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, road departure and various notifications for my bluetooth, radio and navigation come on. also, my backup camera will have a black screen and then my maps will be gray with no information. my car will suddenly brake when there is no one in front of me and surge forward as i'm to coming to a stop and the rpm's will raise, it's like i'm sliding over ice for a short period of time. i also can't make phone calls using the system, as it won't recognize any of my voice tags. and instead will give me every contact in my phone book with a home number when i ask for it to call home. recently the abs is activating as i turn my wheels to the right while backing our of parking spaces, either on a driveway or flat surface. these may happen while driving or stationary and just turning the car on. it just isn't safe. i've had people slam on their brakes to avoid hitting me as my car decides to suddenly stop for no reason and have fear that i may rear end someone due to it lurching forward while stopping, so now i stop even further away from vehicles and objects - just in case. i'm also experiencing a popping noise coming from my speaker system that seems to occur whenever my ac compressor switches on or off or if i'm using my door locks, leading me to wonder if i'm actually having electrical issues. i've taken it to the dealer numerous times and they of course say that they can't duplicate the issues. so i show them all of my photos and videos. i'm not alone with many of these problems. i see others complaining of similar issues as well. honda needs to repair our vehicles or buy them back. i've always loved hondas but after my experience with this vehicle, they may have lost my business.

The collision mitigation system comes on and issues a warning that it no longer operates after driving along a road where there are numerous orange cones along the side of the road. the systems states it is overloaded and stops functioning. system must be re-coded by dealer in order for system to work again. dealer says there is no fix. recommendation is to turn off the system whenever encountering this situation. this essentially makes defeats the purpose of the system.

Collision mitigation system failure indicator on dash as car moves past multiple highway safety cones. system appears to be overloaded as it detects cones on side of road. codes must be reset in order for system to work again. honda cannot fix this at this point. this has happened multiple times with the car.

2016 honda pilot 12,442 miles. the vehicle did not start after parked for about an hour. vehicle electrical system had power but no start. dealer claimed that the problem was a 2 year old battery. cluster lights flashing and various system problem codes displayed. dealer updated software with a service bulletin. i am wondering if the software issue damaged or drained my battery. also a/c compressor loud grinding noise found at cold start when a/c turned on after vehicle parked for a couple of days. the issue has been recorded but dealer can not duplicate. currently being repaired also for a noise found under steering wheel while slightly turning. it might be an issue with the wiring in the steering electrical system and this can create a problem with the controls found on the steering wheel including the airbag and horn. it took 6 hours for roadside assistance to pick up the vehicle after being stranded in remote area late at night due to a failure in their system which they are working on improving. they just don't make them like they used to. too much technology for the manufacturers to keep up with it.

1. i am getting static on the radio, the dealership is not solving this issue completely. i know by turning on and off the car it will resolve it for an amount of time and it comes back. this occurs when driving and not driving. 2. issues with tire low pressure the dealership is not solving this issue completely. i know by adding air it will resolve it for an amount of time and it comes back. this occurs when driving and not driving.

We have had multiple, ongoing problems with our 2016 honda pilot elite since early on in our ownership. when i try to go after coming to a stop, the car tries to stall and has stalled several times in the middle of the road. when it stalls, it has switched itself to neutral and for several minutes, it will not let me do anything to try to get the car going again such as change gears, start the car, etc. as i try to get it going, it will tell me that i need to start the engine to change the gear back to drive but will not do anything when i press the start button. further, there are several issues with the infotainment system: the back up camera goes black, the entire system reboots while driving, the audio screen freezes and audio ceases while driving, the entire screen goes black except the time line on top while driving, and the navigation screen blacks out while driving. despite providing video and photographic evidence of the issues, honda kept saying they couldn't replicate it and thus couldn't test it, but when i was able to bring it to them with the screen frozen, they said there were no tests they could run. they finally tried replacing the infotainment system, but the issues returned. these issues are on top of the fact that they replaced the dvd player because it was looping. we feel we have received a lemon and that these issues cause a hazard during what should be normal operation of our vehicle.
