We have classified the 13 complaints from 2007 Honda Odyssey about STRUCTURE into the following categories.
After 3.5 years after i bought my 2007 honda odyssey, i noticed that the paint on the roof and on the top of the front fenders started peeling off. i brought it to the dealer and they said they can't do anything because my warranty had expired. i told them that i have their extended warranty and showed them a copy of honda service bulletin # 08-031 that describes the paint peeling problem and how to fix it. in the service bulletin, honda will fix the paint problem and warranty the paint for 7 years. they refused to do anything. i contacted honda customer service and they said that they will not fix the paint to primer adhesion issue. without a solid paint covering on the van, it will rust prematurely and lose value very fast. this paint to primer issue is widespread among many honda vehicles and model years and colors yet the service bulletin only mentions paint peeling on dark blue 2003-2005 odysseys built at the alabama plant with vins starting with 5fn . my odyssey is a 2007 with light blue paint, was built at the same alabama plant and my vin starts with 5fn . i have the same paint issue and the pictures of peeling paint in the service bulletin are exactly like my problem and in exactly the same spots. clearly the paint problem is more widespread than honda is willing to admit. please bring this issue in behalf of many honda owners to honda's attention and i hope they will do the right thing and fix our cars and fix the potential paint peeling problems of new cars. *tr
When i opened the rear power liftgate, it got almost completely open and then unexpectedly closed while making a beeping sound. it would have closed on my head if i didn't jump out of the way fast enough. i tried it again using the remote again and then w/ the liftgate button on the dashboard and it continues to malfunction. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 honda odyssey. the contact was driving approximately between 55-65 mph. unexpectedly, both rear interior doors ajared without assistance. the vehicle was driven to the side of the road and the defective doors were closed. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. the failure was related to the closure motors. the estimated repair cost was $1,000. the vehicle has not been repaired for the malfunction at this time. the failure mileage was 105,000.
I have a 2007 honda odyssey and the sliding doors do not latch properly, which could open while driving with my children sitting in the car. i get an audible chime telling me "a" door is ajar, but no warning light on the dash. when i come to a stop by hitting the breaks i hear the door finally close. this is a very scary knowing that i could be driving down the interstate and my doors could slide open at anytime. i have taken my car to the dealership numerous times in which they have replaced a failed door latch and tightened the chain and the problem still has not been corrected. i have seen many issues with this in other forums and i wonder what it is going to take for a recall to be issued. *tr
The rear hatch of my 2007 honda odyssey touring van suddenly fell on my 13 year old daughter as she was leaning into the cargo area of the van. the it appears that the struts designed to hold the door opened failed. the door weighs at least 50 pounds. *tr
Noticed that since feb. 2010, my tailgate unexpectedly shuts closed, it fails to stay open, and at times, it opens only 3/4 the distance up and only for a short moment... nothing has yet been completed to remedy the problem, i just realized through online search that others have the same concern, and a recent recall on 2005 lift gate strut recall was sent out. *tr
Lots of car stopped on the highway 65 mile speed limit,i stopped completely after few second later rear vehicle hit my van. police came make report, rear car's fault. i did not ride ambulance. i see doctors,i thought i was o.k. but 10 month later i was in the hospital almost 2 months. i got surgery my upper back because my spinal was pinched by bone and leaking. air bag did not deployed accident time,if it work ,i did not injured. rear car hit my van and my van hit in front of my car. my chair frame was lifted up rear door and bumper and body frame need straight. *tr
The automatic sliding doors of the 2007 honda odyssey ex-l entrapped my 5 year olds left hand at the back of the door. he has swelling, bruising, and abrasions. it does not appear that there is permanent damage. however, the proximity of the seat and seat belt to the rear door jam is conducive for this type of injury. the door should immediately reverse if it encounters any resistance to closing at any part of the door. it currently only stops it's motion if the front part of the door encounters significant force. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda odyssey. the contact stated when lifting the trunk lid, the lid would not remain in the open position and struck her in the head. the vehicle was not repaired and the failure became progressively worse. the dealer advised there were no recalls for the vehicle. the contact spoke with an independent mechanic who advised the stalls would need to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileages were approximately 60,000.
Closed back tailgate/door/hatch from inside the vehicle using the handle located on the inside if the unit. the handle is located so low on the rear door my hand became lodged between the door & the jam, there is no safety release inside the door to open it from inside trapping my hand. the touring model is the only model with a rear door opener on the remote but the interior handle is still located so low on the rear door the same situation occurs. *tr
My 3 year old son's arm and hand became trapped in the left rear automatic electronic sliding door. there is a safety to prevent accidental closure, however there are no safeties in place on the inside of the vehicle to prevent a child's arm and/or hand/fingers from being crushed or trapped. this is a very serious problem! *tr
My daughter who is 5 got her hand caught in the sliding door of our 2007 honda odyssey. she got it caught in the rear end of the door and the door did not reopen. she screamed and i ran to that side of the car and opened the door to release her hand from the door. she was in a lot of pain and had visible marks across her hand. *tr
After a freezing rain and snow storm, when the rear hatch of a 2007 honda odyssey was opened, the wind deflector attached to the hatch broke off. *tr
Honda odyssey 2007 exl: brake pedal is soft requiring pressing almost to the bottom to stop the car. dealer did replace master cylinder but no difference, the same scary feeling especially on a highway. couple times i even manage to press brake and accelerator pedals at the same time while trying to stop a car. the first time it happened (it was in canada and road was slippery) i had to use parking brake to stop a car. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda odyssey. the contact stated that the driver and passenger sliding doors would not open yet the doors were unlocked. the warning light would chime while driving. the vehicle was never taken to the dealer for inspection on repairs. the failure persisted. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 110,000.
Mechanical sliding side doors 1) when parked on a hill, frnt end dwnhill the sliding door opens all of the way then slams forward frm 4 to 6 inches back toward the frnt jam, the force will knock a child down 2) the door does not have a sensor ( like an elevator) that something or someone might be n its path when closing & it will close on anything or anyone in its path when closing. my child got her arm crushed btwn the door & the jam when the door closed on her. i had opened the door w/ the remote, i reached n & the door began to close b4 i could back out & crushed me betwn the door & the jam, even after making contact w/ my body it continued to crush me, the only way n both instances to stop the door frm crushing my 4yr old's arm frm her body & it doing i have no idea the extent of what it would have done to me, was to get 2 the manual handle nside the door. the remote will not stop it & the dashboard button will not stop it. the re ote does not have an open & shut button for the door. remote buttons are a minor point, the doors need sensors. the challenges w/ the doors not having sensors to stop them & 1button open/close on the remote r issues we deal w/ on a frequent basis. my daughter & i r not the only ones who have been crushed n the doors. we have had other children even our 65 yr old grandmother has been crushed n them. *tr
