A/c compressor non-functional *js

Our 2007 honda odyssey suddenly started blowing hot air out of the drivers side with the air conditioning on. we had recently had to replace the compressor, and thought that there was just a leak in a hose, we refilled the freon a few times before the weather cooled down and then left it alone for the winter. when i went to have it fixed last week, i found out there was a hole in the condenser, just like i had heard had happened to a lot of other 2007 odyssey owners. $970.00 later our air conditioning works, but there is nothing to stop this from happening again. honda still isn't doing anything about this problem. they should at least offer to pay for a guard under the vehicle to prevent the problem from recurring. when you live in arizona like i do, this is a safety issue. *tt

Air conditioning unit stopped working.vehicle was taken in for a service was told that a rock went through a condenser which is placed unprotected under the radiator. poor design placement will not be covered by manufactures warranty. *tr

I have a 2007 ex with 13,000 miles and both of the tailgate (hatch) struts just failed suddently on 08/15/2010. there should be some additional safety mechanism on these so that they just don't collapse and cause harm (the hatch almost slam my 7-years old son on the head). both can not go bad at one time and either one should support some weight. it is quite dangerous. these liftgate struts should be recalled before bad things happen. honda should stand behind what they put in these cars. *tr

We are owners of 2007 honda odyssey (vin # [xxx] ). on july 13, 2010 as we were pulling into a parking lot, the right hand side back window suddenly exploded. the vehicle was traveling less than 5 per hour when this happened. although four kids and one adult were in the vehicle at the time, no one was injured. we immediately reported the incident to the law enforcement (rpt # [xxx] with city of columbus div. of police). the police searched for any foreign object that may have hit the window. they found nothing inside or outside of the vehicle. although we have been experiencing temperature in the high 80's low 90's, it was in the 70's low 80's on that day. when we researched this issue on-line for similar incidents, there were numerous complaints with rear window exploding. we notified the local honda dealership immediately for potentially defective windows. although they indicated no specific complaint specific to right back window, they said honda of america will be contacted and will get back with us. we have three kids under six years of age who primarily get transported with this vehicle. to ensure the safety of our family, we request the safety concern with the window be addressed asap. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

On july 12, 2010, i took our 2007 honda odyssey) mel rapton honda for the brake recall requested by honda america. i was called at 12:20 p.m. by your service department and advised that the vehicle was ready to be picked up. at 2:00 p.m., i arrived, picked up the vehicle and proceeded to maita toyota to pick up my husband where he was having our toyota serviced. as i approached the very first stop light at fulton and the entrance to i-80, i applied the brakes and with my foot pressed completely to the floor and the vehicle did not stop. i ran the stop light, and was very fortunate that i did not hit anyone. at the second light i came upon at auburn and fulton was green and i made a right hand turn into the toyota dealership where i once again could not stop the vehicle and hit the concrete parking barrier, scratching the front right bumper. i promptly called my husband and informed him i thought something was wrong with the vehicle, but was not sure what to do since my assumption was the brakes were fully inspected and functional prior to me leaving mel rapton honda. i called back to mel rapton service department, leaving a message for the service advisor anthony motley that something was not right with my brakes. the service advisor called me back asking that i drive the car back to mel rapton, even though i stated i believed that i had no functional brakes beyond the emergency brake. i cauiously drove the vehicle back, i had to apply the emergency brakes twice in order stop the vehicle and avoid running any more red lights or hitting other vehicles. i was shocked that your service advisor suggested that i drive the vehicle back to the dealership when there was some problem with the braking system. the vsa modulator light came on as i drove the vehicle back. they said they "repaired" the vsa and brakes, but never the damage to the front of the vehicle, mel rapton refuses to respond to requests for repairs and honda america isn't helping. *tr

My 2007 honda odyssey air condition stopped blowing cold i took it to a the dealer thay said a rock hit the ac condenser thay said it would cost $900 to fix i asked to see the hole it was behind a pipe witched looked like had rubbed against the condenser the dealer will not replace the condenser

I have a 2007 honda odyssey and the sliding doors do not latch properly, which could open while driving with my children sitting in the car. i get an audible chime telling me "a" door is ajar, but no warning light on the dash. when i come to a stop by hitting the breaks i hear the door finally close. this is a very scary knowing that i could be driving down the interstate and my doors could slide open at anytime. i have taken my car to the dealership numerous times in which they have replaced a failed door latch and tightened the chain and the problem still has not been corrected. i have seen many issues with this in other forums and i wonder what it is going to take for a recall to be issued. *tr

Transmission does not shift smoothly, especially when coming to a stop you can feel and hear the transmission down shifting. first we could feel the engine jutter between 35 - 40 mph when upshifting. dealer said it needed a software upgrade. we got the software upgrade - made it worse. they then said it needed a new torque converter. the new torque converter fixed the juttering, now the downshifting is not smooth. we took it to the dealer again and they are telling us it's fine. i've spoken to a mechanic and he mentioned that he has heard a lot of complaints regarding the odyssey's transmission. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda odyssey. while the vehicle was parked with the air conditioner activated, hot air blew out of the air vents. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, but the failure was unable to be diagnosed. the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that there was a hole in the condenser and the condenser needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 34,000.

My ac quit working in my 2007 honda odyssey. this was in july, 2008 with only 13900 miles on the vehicle. i was told it was a hole in condenser, and not covered under warranty. the service advisor explained to me that it was because honda was making the grille wider to allow the engine to stay cooler. and that this was a freak thing. now, less than 1 year later, it's happened again! they won't fix it or discount it due to it being "road damage". i understand that now they are making them with grills for protection on the 2008 models and later. obviously they've realized it's a manufacturers defect. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 honda odyssey. the contact stated that steam abnormally emits in his vehicle and the air conditioning system was inoperative. he took the vehicle to the dealer and they found a hole in the air condenser. the vehicle is currently being repaired. the manufacturer did not assist. the vin was unknown. the failure and current mileages were 20,000.

2007 honda odyssey - 3/28/09. noticed ac was not working. on 4/6/09 i took the vehicle to be inspected at the dealership where it was purchased. the service rep indicated it was a small hole in the condenser, most likely caused by a road hazard (rock), and not covered by the warranty. i paid for the $1060 repair. after the vehicle was repaired, i was told by coworkers it is a notorious design issue. this was confirmed by a quick visit to google. the dealership made no mention of the common occurrence. hopefully with enough complaints, honda will be forced to admit there is a major problem and offer some form of help. please add me to the list of impacted owners. i instructed the service rep to move forward with repairs at 9:30am. by 2:30pm i was picking up the vehicle. $1060, with $516 of that for labor. if it's determined to be a limited problem, i have no issues; however, everything i read indicates a problem where significant owners are being affected. *tr

My 2007 honda odyssey's air conditioning stopped working, the van has only 11,000 miles on it. i took the van to the dealer for service and was told that a rock had hit the ac condenser and that it was not covered by warranty. i feel that their assessment of the root cause of the problem to be very subjective, just how do they know that a rock caused the problem with no visible damage.. i was told the part would cost $800.00 and it would be ordered. i have since found out that this is a frequent problem that is probably due to faulty design. i feel honda should be responsible for the cost of repairs and do a corrective action recall on this vehicle. *tr

The vehicle we are reporting an issue with is a 2007 honda odyssey. the car was purchased last october so it is less then 1 year old and has less then 5,000 miles on it. on tuesday 8/12/2008 the sliding door on the driver side of the car closed on my 2 year olds hand. the door malfunctioned in 2 ways a) the door has a sensor built in that if it meets resistance it bounces back open. in this case the door did not bounce back open as it should have and closed on my kids hand. b) once the door had already closed on his hand we could not get it to open back up and my kids hand was still stuck in the door. the door would not open no matter how many times we hit the open button or pulled on the handle. we had to call the police for help who in turn sent the fire department. the fire department was not able to get the door to open either even with 4 big guys pulling on it, the fire man had to use a crow bar to force the door open. we took my son to the hospital for xrays and they said that due to his age it is the only reason he has no broken bones (at age 2 the bones are still soft and able to flex) they do suspect he might have some fractures so they put him in a soft cast and told us to schedule a visit with a hand surgeon to inspect the hand to make sure there are no fractures and to check his growth palates. the fireman, hospital, and doctors all told us the same thing that if it had been my 6 or 4 year old whose hand got stuck we would have been dealing with broken bones. now that this has happened to us i did a search on line and see that other people have had similar problems with the sliding doors on honda odyssey's all the way back to 2000. this is an issue that honda has gotten away with up until now. honda needs to take care of this issues that they know about and not sweep it under the rug. *tr ...

Manufacturing defect of 2007 honda odyssey leads to eventual air conditioning failure as condenser is not protected from debris (such as rocks) hitting it and putting a hole in it. hundreds, if not more, of other vehicle owners have had the same problems. *tr

Air conditioner in car simply stopped working. the car is only 1 year old, and still under "full warranty." *tr

In may 2008, just 9 months after driving my brand new 2007 honda odyssey off the showroom floor, my air conditioning went out. i took it back to the dealership where i had purchased the vehicle fully anticipating my factory warranty to cover the cost of the repair. after diagnosing the problem, i was told by the service department at the dealership that a rock had punctured the condenser causing the coolant to leak out. i was also told that this was deemed a ?freak accident? and an ?act of nature? and therefore was not a warranty. the total cost of the repair, including labor, was $780.00. i was informed by american honda that the only warrantable repairs are ?factory defects?. i examined the front of my van along the bottom and i discovered that my condenser sits right at the front of the vehicle, completely exposed. i investigated the matter further and discovered that in the next year's model, the 2008 odyssey, honda has gone in and added a grill over the condenser to protect it. i also discovered thousands of other odyssey owners who have experienced the exact same problem and were given the exact same regurgitate answer from their dealership and from american honda. this was not a freak accident, rather, it is a widespread problem on these vehicles caused by a defective design. *tr

Honda odyssey air conditioning failed after 10000 miles. dealer claims rock punched a hole in the ac condenser. price to fix - $700. american honda says because cause is road damage, warranty does not cover it. this is a design flaw. *tr

2007 odyssey with 13,000 miles, the ac suddenly quit working. took it to the honda dealer and was informed that the condenser was hit by the road debris and caused the leakage. i was charged $790 to install a new condenser. *tr

A rock damage my 2007 honda causing freon to leak out. honda dealer estimated that it will cost $800 to fix this. i believe that this is a design flaw with the condenser that honda should recall. i could understand that a rock damage a windshield, but not some part in the engine. please review more complaints at http://www.topix.com/forum/autos/honda-odyssey/ts3tfhtseucdodh9c. *tr

Ac condenser failed on my 2006 honda odyssey at 19075 miles. service claims road damage and charged over $600 to repair not covered by my extended warranty. this is a continuing problem with honda and should be covered by warranty. *tr

I have a 2007 honda odyssey. mileage is less than 10,000 miles. air conditioning was blowing hot air. took it to the honda dealership in roanoke, virginia, and was told that it looks like a rock had flown into the air conditioning condenser and punctured it. they would not cover it under warranty and said that i could make a claim under my auto insurance policy. their charge to repair/replace is $700. *jb

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 honda odyssey. the contact stated that while his spouse drove (mph unknown); the air condition was slow to cool down the vehicle. the dealer stated that there was a crack in the condenser and noticed anti freeze leaked. the failure mileage was 19,000 and the current mileage was 20,000.

Honda odyssey 2007, air conditioning condensorw as prone to failure and failed after 5 months. there were about 70 similar complaints posted on the internet here: p://www.topix.net/forum/autos/honda-odyssey/tjbopfur3svarkhcj/p3. *ak

Dealership claimed that a stone caused a hole in the air conditioner (a/c) condenser hose in the front of the vehicle, thereby denying responsibility as a warranty item. the 2007 honda odyssey was only 3 months old and the a/c was blowing hot air. the repair costs $600. this was a common problem that honda was not addressing.*ak
