We have classified the 1 complaints from 2006 Honda Odyssey about VISIBILITY into the following categories.
Power windows stop working except the driver side. *tr
Failure of exhaust system heat shields could cause vehicle fire. consumer has no way of knowing that the safety shields are no longer in place. dealer indicated exhaust system heat shields were loose and missing and had to be replaced. dealer indicated failure to replace could result in melting of insulation on electrical wires. i feel the heat shields should have been manufactured using stainless steel to prevent corrosion and loss of this important safety feature. at $615 to replace, it is unlikely many people will have this work performed, especially as the vehicle ages. there are normal/expected safety features that car owners expect to replace (tires, wiper blades and bulbs). the consumer has no way of knowing if the safety shields have fallen from the vehicle. when contacting honda customer service i was told it was my responsibility to keep the car operating in a safe manner. but if i was not told (by the dealer) that i had a safety issue, i would have had no way of knowing. there are likely many other unsuspecting odyssey owners with this potential safety/fire hazard. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 honda odyssey. the contact stated that the driver side blower for the defroster was inoperable. the contact stated that she was unable to defrost the windows. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they were unable to diagnose the failure. the manufacturer was contacted and they asked her to get a second opinion. the second dealer was unable to diagnose the failure as well. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 80,444. updated 03/24/11*lj updated 05/02/11
Rear window shattered spontaneously while vehicle was parked with no apparent impact or previous damage. *tr
Rear wiper motor failure on my 2006 honda odyssey. occurred in january 2010. there is a recall notice for this but honda says my vehicle is not included. *tr
With my wife driving our small children in our 2006 honda odyssey, the windshield washer system failed to operate and clean the windshield. the temperatures were around +25 degrees f and the fluid level was full with fluid rated to -20 degrees f. it appears the system freezes up, even when the van engine temp was fully heated to operating temperature. this is certainly a safety issue as her sight outside the van was impaired by the dirty windshield. she could not see outside the windshield to drive the van in a safe manner. i have recently spoken to other 2006 odyssey owners who have the same problem. *nm
While traveling at highway speed, the passenger side glass in my 2006 honda odyssey exploded/shattered, resulting in cuts to two passengers, one seated in the front passenger seat and one seated directly behind the first passenger. in addition, the shattered glass caused damage to the leather interior. honda was contacted but did not investigate and rejected the claim. *nm
Dt*: the contact stated that the shortness of the steering column creates fatigue while driving 65 mph for prolonged hours on normal road conditions. the vehicle's doors cannot open without pressing the unlock button first which creates a delay in case of emergency conditions. the vehicle's doors will not lock if one of the doors are not closed. the contact expressed that the rear windshield wiper only works intermittently which creates a rear vision problem.
In november 2005 i purchased a new 2006 honda odyssey exl. within a few days the driver's side power window (it is worth mentioning that i have not had any problem with the other power windows) often times did not close when i tried to close it. the worst times are when it rains or the temperature is cold. while under warranty i took the vehicle to another honda dealer to have the window repaired. they attempted the repairs but were unable to fix the power window. i tried many jiffy lube and liquid wrench to lubricate the window per the dealer's recommendation but the result has been only temporary and the window continues to stay down when it should be closing. *tr
