Problems with 2005 Honda Odyssey ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

One morning as we were started up the engine i noticed a somewhat loud noise as is the muffler had a hole in it. i drove it for awhile and noticed at this point that the noise was heard as we accelerated and when the car went into eco mode. i had stood outside of the vehicle while my wife drove away but did not notice any noise. thought this was strange. i took it to the honda dealer on a recall, fuel pump, and asked for them to look under it. they reported that it was the motor mount that was worn down. i see that honda odyssey, 2005 (our year model) through 2007 has this problem. is there any type of action that can be taken to have honda repair this incident without the cost coming from me. *tr

We were driving along 101 in the afternoon, turned on the ac, it started to blow out hot air, really hot air. have a mechanic checked on it, we were told that the condenser broke, a/c defects. found lots of honda owners have the problem. *tr

Transmission trouble happens when first started in the morning. has shifting problems at every speed. will never go into top gear until vehicle has warmed up, is turned off, and turned back on. then shifts normally. replacing with new ecm (engine control module) did not fix. was told to replace the mounts too, did not fix either. *tr

I purchase this vehicle new from dealer with minimal problems until about 85,000 mile when my wife was driving the vehicle on the highway at 65 mph the vehicle started to shake uncontrollably and she was barely able to get to the shoulder of the road. i drove the vehicle for two day and could not replicate this problem i had the tires balanced to ensure that this was not the issue. my sister-in-law drove the car and the problem happened again to her, she was very concerned because of the way the vehicle shakes uncontrollably at 65 mph. i then started to investigate this problem to find many articles on how the rear motor mount fails on vehicles with as little as 50,000 miles. the dealer states this is a drivability issue and the vehicle will be fine with a new motor mount at the tune of $700. i have owned many vehicles and never had a motor mount issue. due to the fact that this vehicle has a front wheel drive system when the mount fails the engine does not just rise in the engine compartment but begins to vibrate with the vehicles tires in motion. *tr

Acceleration to 65-68mph up to approximately 73-75mph the van's front wheels enter a mild to fairly strong, alarming, shimmy felt distinctly and synchronized through the steering wheel. we had just recently purchased this van 2 months prior and ironically had 2 brand new yokohama tires on the front rims. we took a trip from midwest to up and along the eastern seaboard. symptoms initially reasonable got stronger but appeared at the slower end of the range mentioned above. now it has gotten aggressively worse to the point you'd think i'd need new tires, but they are in good shape with lots of meat on the treads still. i have read many blogs now that indicate very bad design on electronic motor mounts have caused this and con concur with the general populous of 2005 honda odyssey mini-van owners out there that this is a critical fix that needs to be implemented by honda. sincerely, [xxx] 11/2/14. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Van vibrates uncontrollably because of defective electronic motor mounts, which cost thousands of dollars to replace, and causes handling problems which could result in a crash. *tr

Steering wheel severe vibrations while driving on highway at 50 up to 70 mph went to auto mechanic and replaced 2 engine mounts ($1113 total). *tr

Had to replace 3 engine mounts in 2 months after 80,000 miles - van is used for suburban driving. *tr

2005 honda odyssey. consumer writes in regards to manifold heat shields replacement *tgw the consumer stated during a service visit at the dealer, he was informed the manifold heat shields needed to be replaced, because the screws holding them on were rusting. the consumer stated no one could answer him, as to why stainless steel screws were not used.

Broken motor mounts, it seems to be a widespread and an expensive problem. *tr

I own a 2005 honda odyssey ex-l. had vehicle in the dealership today for virginia state vehicle inspection and the vehicle failed due to a broken front engine mount. vehicle has 105,000 miles on it and is only 5,000 miles out of extended warranty. this appears to be common problem as seen from other posts on the internet ...so much so that the dealer certainly was aware of it to find in less than a 5 minute look at the vehicle without a driveability complaint by me. nhtsa should investigate this common safety failure mode for the honda odyssey. costs to repair totaled $1002.14 ($689.64 parts and $312.50 labor) to repair this safety issue found during state safety inspection. *tr

I just took my car in for the master cylinder recall to the dealer. after inspecting the car the dealer has found and diagnosed a fail status on front engine and right engine mounts. the dealer is quoting approximately $700.00 to replace these broken mounts. after doing an internet search on the issue with these cars, i find that this problem is prevalent in honda odyssey 2005 and greater models. honda corporation should recall and repair these issue. i am surprised of how many recalls i have gotten on this odyssey, i own other honda's and love honda quality. please recall and fix this issue. *tr

Brought in my 2005 odyssey for annual inspection in march 2012 and was informed that both front and rear engine mounts were broken. honda dealership indicated this was a common occurrence with the v6 honda vehicles, and is a safety issue. odyssey was repaired at a cost of $830+tax. i researched on-line, and confirmed that it is indeed a common occurrence, as there were numerous postings with the same issue. i took the recommendation of the dealership and contacted the honda corporation. person who took the call assigned a case number, and indicated that i may be eligible for reimbursement. the person who followed up 1 week later indicated that this is normal wear and tear, and therefore honda will not reimburse any amount. they indicated that the engine mounts are expected to wear out between 80 and 100k miles. i have owned several other vehicles, and none ever had this same issue. i believe this to be a design defect which honda needs to take ownership for, and perform a recall for repairs. *tr

I have a 2005 honda odyssey ex 3.5l vtec with less than 46k miles on it... when i took to the dealership for 15k mile service today, they noticed that my front engine mount had broken and told me to get it replaced right away and they said it would cost me $500 (labor and parts). this has never happened to me on any of my other cars and i think this is a serious design flaw by honda. when i searched online, i found several people with the same complaints and many of them had the rear and side mounts broken too which costs even more to fix... honda needs to acknowledge this as an engineering design issue and recall the vans and get them fixed for free. *tr
