We have classified the 6 complaints from 2001 Honda Odyssey about EQUIPMENT into the following categories.
On 6/30/08 i replaced the transmission in my 2001 honda odyssey, and today 5/17/11 i'm having the same problem again. the dealership advised me that since my first replacement was covered by my extended warranty, i have no kind of manufacturer warranty on the defective transmission. they advised me that if i would have paid for the first one and not claimed it under my warranty i would still be covered by the manufacturer. they gave me a faulty transmission and now want nothing to do with the situation. they knew about the issues with the odyssey transmission and failed to tell me that they were putting another crappy transmission in my vehicle. this should be unlawful. *tr
I own a 2001 honda odyssey. i had transmission problems in 2006 that ended in the dealership replacing the transmission. i had 53,000 miles on it. last week (1/3/11), the 2nd transmission failed. i was driving home from work accelerating up a hill when i lost all forward gears. i pulled over to the side of the road and placed the vehicle in park. all of my forward gears were gone. i was able to drive thru remainder of the way in reverse. i have 95,000 on the vehicle. american honda corporation will take no responsibility for the problem. i feel the vehicle could have caused a major wreck if i had been attempting a merge onto the highway. i am very upset with this and want nhtsa to take action against honda. the class action lawsuit of 2006 did not fix the problem. *tr
My 2001 honda odyssey transmission failed at 87000 miles lynnwood honda dealer sold and installed a rebuilt transmission for $3600. the rebuilt transmission failed in less than a year at 37000 miles. i believe they installed a faulty transmission. honda says they won't assist me. results: i lost $3600 dollars on the repair. plus i have a van worth $7000(kbb) that doesn't work. total loss $11000. *tr
While driving north on the new jersey turnpike with my wife and our 5 children at a steady speed of 60 mph, there was a snap/jerking motion felt and slight rubber smell and the van immediately lost acceleration. there was steady traffic i had to negotiate through to get our van safely off the interstate. this is the second transmission needing to be replaced in our 2001 honda odyssey and i have contacted honda north america to correct this problem and they will not do so because the warranty had expired for the last replacement. please contact me to advise of recourse options i have with this problem. thanking you in advance for your assistance. *tr
Was driving a 2001 odyssey van on 11/24/2000 and at 8:00 pm on 321 north to blowing rock, north carolina and the transmission failed completely. we were barely able to get the van off the road and were fortunate it occurred where it did because part of that highway has no easy pull-off area. original transmission had been replaced under extended warranty by honda in late 2006.....this transmission that failed was only about 3 years old, had about 60,000 miles on it, and was serviced according to honda guidelines. honda refused to take any responsibility.....i believe the evidence is clear that honda has had transmission defect issues with this vehicle and there is a major safety issue. we have filed an official complaint with better business and with american honda....case number for honda is no12009-11-3--1138. *tr
2001 honda odyssey transmission has failed a second time. *tr

Hondo odyssey, 2001 door latches. door did not close completely for about 3 months. then door completely stopped opening or closing even after resetting the system. honda gave me an estimate of $995.00 for the left door and $875.00 for the right door. i know prior two years this model was produced the latch was recalled. i can not find a recall for my vehicle. i feel it has the same problem as the 1999 and 2000. *tr
Manufacturer refuses to repair parts damaged by dealer. dealer changed transmission-problems started after, dealer and manufacturer refused to warranty or repair !*ak
Consumer stated the rotors started to warp at 12,000 the rotors were never replaced only cut down to reduce warpage, consumer stated when the rotors are cut it would only shorten the life of the rotors, also the rear hatch spoiler was replaced due to it being cracked. ts *jb
Honda motor co. (honda) sold me and equipment with a new vehicle, that if used as such, will damage the vehicle and will constitute hazard to others driving on the road. honda sold odyssey - ex minivan along with a standard package that contained a roof rack / carrier among other peripherals. i tried using the roof rack / carrier as provided with the vehicle on august 15, 2001, the load that i caried on the roof slipped and almost fell off the vehicle inspiste of my best effort in tying the load on the set of twin racks provided with the vehicle. fortunately, due to the soft underneath of the load the vehicle roof was not damaged due to the load sliding off the roof. i contacted honda to find out how best to use the carrier rack proivded with the vehicle. honda representative verbally informed me that the roof carrier / rack as originally provided with the honda odyssey - ex minivan can not be used, but honda refuses to do anything about it. basically, my complain is that honda sold me an equipement with the new vehicle that if used as such will damage the vehicle, the load will most likely fall of the vehicle resulting in hazardous conditions for other driving on the road.
