Problems with 1999 Honda Odyssey AIR BAGS

Right rear power sliding door will not latch shut

Tl* the contact owns a 1999 honda odyssey. while driving at approximately 50 mph, the contact crashed into a deer and the air bags failed to deploy. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the contact sustained injuries that required medical attention. a police report was filed. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 256,000. the vin was unavailable.

The srs warning light stays on all the time when the car is running for my 1999 honda odyssey lx. it was sent to the dealer and had dt code 1-1. further check by the dealer in the second visit resulted in the diagnosis for "cable reel replacement" in the steering wheel. the charge for the initial diagnostics was $95 plus tax and the charge for parts and labor for the replacement of cable reel will be another $250. the cable reel in the steering wheel should not be damaged by normal driving for a vehicle at 54k miles. it has to be due to the bad design and/or manufacturing. the airbag system is an important safety feature and should be under factory warranty for an extended period of time. ironically, if the safety belt is malfunctioning and causes the srs light on, honda has a lifetime warranty for the repair and diagnosis cost. one can think that the seat belt may be damaged through normal or excessive usage. how could a driver damage the cable reel in the steering wheel when the airbag is never deployed? *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 1999 honda odyssey. the contact stated that the srs light was illuminated on the dashboard. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the electrical box was the cause for the failure and that the srs unit needed to be replaced. the manufacturer has not been notified. the vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. the current mileage was approximately 90,000. the failure mileage was approximately 86,000. updated 07/27/10*jb

Tl*the contact owns a 1999 honda odyssey. while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle stalled without warning. prior to the failure, a green key light symbol illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road. the vehicle restarted normally and stalled again while driving. the dealer stated that they would diagnose the vehicle for a price. the diagnostic revealed that the harness needed to be replaced and may have caused the vehicle to stall. the srs air bag light illuminated and was repaired for free. currently, the ignition needs to be repaired at the contact's expense. the contact has scheduled an appointment to have the ignition repaired. the failure mileage was 103,000 and current mileage was 108,000.

Sliding door always was defective from 2006. always not closing to the end. one slider door outside handle not working from 2006, probably cable broken inside of slider door. sliding door handle is lose. my wife not using slider door more than 10 years, because it stock and can't open at all. front door lock also not working correctly. also i want replace all air back in my mini van, i never receive any paper recall from dealer.

My wife was driving a 1999 honda odyssey van and crossed over a 2 track railroad crossing. the air shield underneath the front of the van came down and hit one of the tracks. this caused the air bags to deploy. my mechanic was concerned that this would cause the air bags to deploy. *jb

The consumer was rear ended and pushed into the vehicle in front. the front seats collapsed along with the middle row seat backs, and the air bags did not deploy. *jb *scc

Vehicle bumped another vehicle in front at less then 5 mph. upon impact, both air bags inadvertently deployed. dealer / manufacturer notified. honda said the airbags functioned as they were supposed to. *ak *ml

Srs warning light activated. diagnostics show srs module failure (airbags non-functional) replacement part not available until 12/29/1999. dealer claims problem is widespread.
