When i stop curbside for school carpooling (i have 5 children at 3 different schools) to allow passengers to exit the passenger side sliding door, i then cannot get it to close. the door will slide all the way to within 1 inch of closing and pop back open. repeatedly. driving with the sliding door ajar is not safe. i have been able to use the driver's side buttons to stop the door, and start it closing again. if i do this stop/start action repeatedly (not allowing the door to slide all the way back open) i can almost always get the timing right to get it to close...but often it takes 3-5 minutes to get the stop/start combination to close the door entirely. i am usually unable to remain in the carpool pull throughs that long so i seat my baby on the drivers side so when we pull away with the door ajar, there is less of a safety concern until i am able to pull to another spot and deal with the door. it is very frustrating and even more so, unsafe!
Paint peeling off the tailgate while in motion on a suburban street. the paint that delaminated ended up on the back window while driving, blocking some of the window above the tailgate. had to pull over and peel off the window. it wasn't a large blockage but it was enough to notice and surprising. i wish i had gotten a photo of the paint on the windshield but didn't think to do that. was more concerned about safety. honda knows about the paint peeling issue but will not discuss it and referred to the dealer. dealer says it's a known issue but honda will not fix due to vin not being eligible in their database. why it's not eligible, since it's the same make, model, year and paint color as all the other odysseys with this issue, i do not know.
In jan2020, during middle of a two hour drive with family, vehicle's electronic touch screen control panel along with steering wheel controls completely froze, disabling voice and/or touch command to access dash board, apple car play and even radio. vehicle was on the highway driving in the range of 50-60 mph when it happened. restarting vehicle at roadside stop did not reset the system. i noticed rear view camera quit working also, could not confirm about other electronic safety feature's working status. vehicle's transmission seem to work fine so i drove slowly home and called dealership next day. dealership requested to bring vehicle in house to hard reset the system. dealership also mentioned that they are seeing similar issues in this model of vehicle. i could not get a satisfactory answer if the vehicle was safe to drive (to me it was not very safe even if some/all safety features possibly were working?). after factory reset, vehicle is working fine but i am requesting manufacturer for full electrical check up. i am uncomfortable to have full family in and risk a system freeze mid drive on a highway. surprised it happened in a brand ...
The infotainment screen repeatedly freezes up. it can happen while parked as well as when driving or using the rear view camera to back up - which is the biggest safety hazard. this is very much a distraction for the driver. the only remedy is to turn the vehicle completely off, open the driver's door to shut the system off, and then restart the vehicle.
Sliding doors won't lock the sliding door will just pop open again. have child lock engaged and door locked from inside. i have found about 40 cars with this problem in just columbus ohio alone that are 2007. the cost to repair is 500$ which is failing most of the youtube videos are showing.
When we start the engine all the errors come up saying that the vhs failed, the electronics stability failed, brake system failed and all the other components. we have purchased 2 odyssey and they both have that problems. when we called honda they told us to repair it as it was our fault. after few starts it goes away. we went to our mechanic and they reset the codes and it has gone away for now but there is an on going issue with the odyssey. so honda has recalled the pilot but not the mini van. same problems.
Engine oil leak, when i step deep into the brake the steering wheel shakes. the vga alert appears.
One day after changing engine oil at honda dealershop last week monday, there was flickering on dash board after turning the power off. the symptom was getting worse and on sunday and monday (yesterday), the car horn honking itself. and yesterday, the dash board power couldn't be turned off when i turned the power switch off (engine off luckily) and the flickering got worse last night. so, i did unplug the battery with a worry of fully drained battery overnight. today morning, i plug the battery back and get the same issue, and luckily ignite the engine and went to dealer shop again. they did diagnosis and said keyless access control unit needs to be replaced. here is the summary of the symptoms: last week flickering dash board with fcw system failed. and honking itself with keeping flickering. yesterday, i saw error message of "keyless system error". and i went to dealershop in this morning. here is my speculation: during oil change, there was oil spilling, which causes shorting of circuitry (or technician accidently hit some parts inside). it causes frequent on/off of electronic system, ending up breaking the keyless access control unit. the dealer didn't say anything, but ...
I purchased a new 2019 honda odyssey elite on 9/17/2019. i drove to work as usual, made sure all electricals (e.g., dome lights, headlights, etc.) were off, parked and alarmed my vehicle. car remained parked while i worked. after my shift, i tried to use the remote engine start, but noticed the car didn't start. i pressed the unlock button on key fob, but no response; the car remained locked. i tried to unlock via hondalink app, which displayed that car was unlocked. i attempted to open any car door, but they remained locked. i was left stranded in 94*f heat and no nearby shade. luckily my family weren't there or they would've also been left baking in the heat. i used the manual key to unlock the driver side door and got in. then tried to start the car but no response at all (i.e, no lights on the hud, lcd monitors, etc.). also tried unlocking other doors from inside; nothing worked. called honda roadside assistance & they sent someone to help. guy tried jump starting car, still nothing. said he even sent "direct current" to car, but absolutely no response; no lights of any kind, no access to ...
