We have classified the 11 complaints from 2018 Honda CR-V about SEAT BELTS into the following categories.
The left, rear (behind driver) seat belt latch is in the wrong position creating a safety hazard. when three (3) passengers are on the rear seat, the belt from the center crosses over the belt from the left at the latching points; thereby creating a point of double load where the belts cross. in an accident this could be catastrophic. the problem is a design flaw that i noticed on the day specified on this form.
There are 3 seat belt assemblies in the back seat. in order to buckle the left rear seatbelt (behind drivers side) the belt has to cross-over the buckle for the center seat belt. this effectively renders one of the 3 seat belts useless. this is a real safety issue, especially if trying to have 2 passengers plus a child seat in the back. i asked the service manager at the honda dealer in wilmington nc to fix it, and he said they are "all like that" and that it cannot be reversed.
Bad design -- the 2nd row middle and left seat belt buckle appear to be reversed. when the middle and left seat belts are attached to the buckles they have to cross over each other. if one passenger is already belted in it becomes very difficult to secure the other passenger in either the middle or left seat position. numerous complaints on other web sites, such as "procarseatsafety.com we notice this issue within a month of leasing this vehicle. the dealer was advised and said that's the way honda designed it.
The rear seat center seatbelt interferes with the passengers seatbelt seated behind the driver. the vehicle is supposed to be accommodate five passengers (three in the back seat) yet you cannot buckle all three belt at the same time without interference.
Rear d/s and middle seat belts are crossed.unable to safely transport 2 @d/s or 3 in total.
Rear seat seat belts are reversed. the drivers rear and middle seat belt receivers are reversed. safety issue.
The back seatbelts cross, making it very dangerous to have a passenger in the middle seat. the back driver side passenger belt has to cross over the middle belt in order to buckle. those presents a huge hazard. honda has offered no fix.
We purchased the 2018 cr-v and july of last year. at that time we had two children and expecting a third. we knew all three kiddos would fit in the crv's backseat. what we came to find out after needing all three seat belts, we realized that there cannot be three people safely buckled at the same time. making our 5 passenger car really only a four passenger car. the buckles on the left side and the middle side are criss-crossed making it impossible to safely transport all three of our children at the same time. i've contacted honda and our dealership with no help whatsoever. they expect me to keep driving an unsafe car.
The seat belt latches for the rear middle and rear drivers side seat have a huge safety problem. the strap for the rear center seat comes down from the roof and attaches beside the rear drivers seat latch. when you pull the belt over to secure the center seat belt it covers the drivers seat belt latch. i understand the 2017 crv has the same problem.
Rear middle and left set belts are crossed which prevents left side (behind driver) passenger from buckling up.
Tl* the contact owns a 2018 honda cr-v. while driving approximately 40 mph, the brake pedal was depressed, but failed to respond. as a result, a crash occurred and the tire pressure, brake system, tire pressure monitoring system, and lane departure warning indicators illuminated. the contact also stated that the seat belt failed to restrain her and caused her to slam into the steering wheel. the air bags failed to deploy. the contact sustained back and hip injuries that required medical attention. a police report was filed. the vehicle was towed to an independent body shop, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 22,076.
The rear seat belt anchor is reversed on the center buckle. the anchor is on the center passenger's left side and the latch on their right. the rear driver's side passenger's latch is on their right, but on the far right side of the anchor. when a passenger or car seat is belted into the center seat, the seat belts obstruct each other, and when forced to latch, appear quite dangerous.
