Fuel is mixing in with the oil, car is much more sluggish, noticing gas smell in the cabin (that cant be healthy!!)
Oil is contaminated with gasoline at a concentration of 4.8% and flashpoint of 290 degrees. smell of gasoline in engine oil. engine oil has been changed twice according to vehicle specifications. vehicle is not located in a state where honda is providing fixes for the issue, eg reprogramming computer and hvac control unit.
My car is having electrical issues with the honda sensing. braking on its own at random times at various rates of speed. the most serious on the highway at speed of about 75 mph. the car shut down and the computer systems had all kinds of codes of system failures. also now we are having an issue of oil dilution due to gasoline. my oil was changed a few days later still over the full line and fumes of gas evident. talking with honda dealership currently where purchased and honda corporate case was filed. so far they are down playing it in texas dispite numerous consumer complaints and commonality of issue being reported at the dealership level.
While driving my '17 honda cr-v ex, it suddenly sputtered, started losing power & wouldn't let me accelerate over 10mph. malfunction indicator started blinking. i was in 4 lanes of traffic with no place to pull over. i put flashers on & cars drove around me. i got to a side st & the manual said if indicator is blinking, it's a misfire in engine's cylinders & to wait for engine to cool down. i sat for 40 mins & made it back home close by & called honda roadside assistance who towed it to honda new rochelle. i can't remember being that frightened driving. when bob from honda nr called he said my car has too much oil, above top of dipstick & it's the fault of the person who changed the oil (on oct. 30, 5 wks earlier). complaints listed in 2 10/2018 consumer report articles (below) re '17 honda cr-v ex state gas is mixing with the oil & oil level sometimes rises above full level on dipstick. bob said he knew all about the cr articles. honda charged me $213.99 for diagnostics & to change the oil. he said that was my choice or i could have the car towed somewhere else. my car has approx 4,600 miles on it. my 2 sisters have this same car & we often have children in it. we're petrified now about suddenly losing acceleration. https://www.consumerreports.org/car-repair-maintenance/honda-cr-v-affected-by-engine-trouble/ https://www.consumerreports.org/car-repair-maintenance/honda-delays-cr-v-turbo-engine-fix-details-rollout-plans/ the cr articles describe exactly what happened to my car & detail the problem as happening esp. to drivers in cold states who make frequent short trips. that describes me. it said heat in this model can be an issue & my heat/defroster have never worked well. honda has a serious problem with this suv, & honda new rochelle dismissed my concerns about the connection between the cr reports & my recent terrifying drive.
The car was not in motion. it is winter in michigan. when checking the oil dipstick the level of oil on the stick was high and smelled strongly of gasoline. having heard often of this issue with the 2017 turbo crv, i now understand it to be that gasoline is leaking into my oil and could cause stalling while driving. i hope that honda will address this issue soon and recall its us crv's for repair quickly.
I smell gasoline in the cabin while driving. i'm really concerned because i have my 2 year-old son in the car with me most of the time. that's going to cause some health issues. the oil level shown on the dip stick is always high and has heavily gas smell when dip stick is pulled out of engine.
Gasoline enters engine oil causing it overfills and far exceeding the max mark. engine oil also has a strong smell of gasoline. it may cause long term damage to the engine with engine oil diluted.
Fuel mixing with oil. after two oil changes on this issue - oil level is higher than normal. independently verified by carland honda mechanic (state bridge rd) georgia 30005
Gas dilution oil, car smells gas inside, honda don't care about
Oil diluted with fuel, over full. strong fuel odor in vehicle.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 honda cr-v. when the contact checked the oil, the dipstick had a fuel odor. the vehicle was taken to goudy honda (1400 w main st, alhambra, ca 91801, 626-576-1114) to be diagnosed, but the failure could not be duplicated. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 8,456. *tt consumer stated gasoline is in the oil cabin filer.*jb 'parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'
Smell of gasoline in the car,oil level of the vehicle is well above the full mark on the dipstick...each time upon checking oil level there has been an increase..
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 honda cr-v. while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle decelerated to 35 mph and the check engine symbol illuminated. the contact called valley hi honda at (760) 962-9600 (located at 15710 valley park ln, victorville, ca 92394) and was informed to have the vehicle towed to the shop. the vehicle was towed to the same dealer where it diagnosed that the mass air flow was high. the technician added fuel conditioner, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where the technician changed the oil and updated the computer system. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure was repaired. the failure mileage was 47,100.
Gasoline into my engine, stalled on highway last year..
Ist oil/filter change by dealer at 4k miles all appeared to be normal. 2nd oil/filter change by dealer at 8k miles oil level was excessively high over dipstick max fill mark by 1/2 inch and oil dipstick had intense gasoline smell and oil viscosity was extremely low. dealer says honda is investigating an 'oil dilution' issue with this engine type.
My 2017 honda crv ex 1.5 ltr turbo engine has an oil delution issue fuel is getting into the crankcase deluting the oil took it to the dealer all they did was change the oil i contacted honda got a case number#09145359 they said someone would call me about the issue. no one has called at this time nov 26th 2018
Engine oil level above fill mark and has strong smell of gas. typically driving. cabin temp is below what i am accustomed and engine will not warm-up quickly in cold weather. consumer reports has a report that seems to match my concerns. supposedly honda has a fix, but dealer said no for my vin.
I noticed a gas smell in my cabin of the car and checked the oil and noticed a gas smell there too. i looked it up online and there are a number of complaints of this issue but no recalls from honda. i am trying to get an appointment, but it's been difficult.
My 2017 cr-v ex-l has the oil dilution issue. currently reading 1.5 inches higher than the max fill line on the dipstick. vehicle smells so bad...like sulfur smell or gas. it is an overpowering smell and makes me nauseous. this can occur after idling for a few minutes, or after driving on a highway for 30 minutes. it is not just a short driving distance issue. honda has known about this issue for years, and yet continues to sell the vehicle. they have not come up with a fix that works. taking it in to the dealer tomorrow. after driving this for 2 years with this issue, i can only imagine the amount of damage on my engine. this is a safety issue. fumes that fill the inside of the vehicle are not healthy or safe. at some point, the oil issue could be a fire hazard or the engine could fail at any moment. why is honda not being forced to fix this with a recall and/or buy back these vehicles?
I bought this car april of 2017 and i already have a electrical problem after a month. we went for a vacation and as we went back, my car is not starting anymore. i reported this to perfection honda and they told me that my battery is in 100 percent ok. last thanksgiving (2018) it did the same thing. the biggest one is engine oil smells gas on it. i tried to report this to perfection honda, albuquerque new mexico but reasoned out that there are no recalls for this car. i'm not recommending crv ex and upper models to any consumer same with perfection honda for poor service quality.
User interface (ui) for radio operates inconsistently. began having issues within a few weeks of owning the vehicle. touchscreen repeatedly freezes, goes black, or the volume is unable to be controlled. frequently the volume will go all the way to the highest level alone or while you are trying to adjust it up/down. the only solution for all of the radio issues are to roll the windows down so you don't lose your hearing and pull the car over, shut the car off, & restart the car. this is startling when the volume goes all the way up and is a major safety concern. you cannot hear what's going on around you & are in a dangerous predicament in trying to get pulled over somewhere safe to restart your car. i began reporting the issue in september 2017 to my dealership and was told the problem was with apple. now honda states that it is a "known issue" but has provided no solution. i have numerous videos of these occurrences for documentation. additionally, my engine oil smells of gasoline. the dipstick reads high and the honda dealership has advised me to change the oil every 1,000 miles and to not drive short trips. the engine hesitated once while in traffic. the engine does not heat up at idle and during cold weather you cannot operate your window defroster. this causes safety issues because you can't see out the windows. the only solution is to ride with the windows down when it's cold in order to see. while driving the car down the interstate at approx. 20,000 miles i heard a pop. when i arrived at my destination, i saw that the gear shifter knob popped out. this rendered me unable to shift my car from drive to any other gear. honda seems to be aware of this issue, as the service tech and advisor both stated that this happens "all the time." dealership replaced knob. honda made a defective & dangerous product. they refuse to remedy the problems.
Engine oil being diluted by gasoline contamination, overfilling the crankcase. liquid level is above the maximum level permitted on the dipstick. known problem with 2017-2018 honda cr-vs. safety issue because it can cause stalling while driving, though i have not experienced that yet. vehicle was stationary when discovered.
Gasoline is getting into the oil, raising the oil level and causing the oil to smell of gasoline and lose its effectiveness. i am concerned about the gas getting where it doesn't belong and causing a safety issue. this is after 5 days of use after i purchased the vehicle and the oil was changed by the dealer before i bought it.
Gas is mixing with the oil causing an overfill situation in the engine oil. it is also causing the oil to be diluted and may be causing premature engine wear. you can check the oil and the dipstick clearly shows an over fill situation and you can smell gas on the dipstick.
After the second oil change at 5000 miles, i noticed a strong fuel smell in the oil. took my car to the dealer, they said it was "normal". i have been changing oil more frequently in hope that it will eliminate this problem. now my crv has 11500 miles on it, the oil is always over fill due to oil dilution. i got so pissed that honda builds such a [xxx] vehicle and charges us at high price.
I discovered fuel in the oil of my 2017 turbo honda cr v when checking the oil level. i have approximately 2500 miles since my last oil change. i took the car to beaverton honda on 11/16/2018 to check it out. they "verified customer's concerns of fuel in engine oil." they also "adjusted oil level" and then referred me to a honda video on youtube. it would appear that they simply removed good oil to make room for more gas in the oil. this is unacceptable and dangerous.. apparently, honda does not have a fix for this issue.
I am finding more oil in the oil reservoir from unburnt gas.
Gasoline smell in vehicle, gasoline overfilling engine oil. gasoline smell in vehicle shortly after starting when cold. vehicle is parked when the smell is noticed. i'm also worried that with the oil mixing with the oil that engine failure may happen.
Oil engine deluted with gas. mixed oil level rises 1 inch every 3000-5000 miles. when reaches 22mm above "max" mark on the dip stick then "check engine" light comes on and engine stalls. honda recalled 380000 units in china for the very same issue. here in us they do nothing except risking the life of their customers. shame ! forums and youtube are full with the same complain even some tv news channels mentioned it. honda , please fix your problematic engine and compensate the cr-v owners and/or buy back your overpriced junk.
Engine oil was 1 quart overfull. oil smells like gasoline. engine oil visibly thinner than normal. reportedly, this problem is systemic with cr-v's as ours with the turbo 4 cylinder. the gasoline should be evaporating due to engine temp; but, it's not -- as a result the gasoline dilutes the engine oil and causes the oil level to rise.
I smell gas in my cabin and found gas in my engine oil which was overfilled. i feel dizzy and had headache due to that smell.
Oil dilution. when checking the level of my oil, it is way overfull on the dipstick. i took it to the dealer ( roush honda - medina ), and was informed that yes, the oil level is high, and they confirmed oil dilution where the oil is diluted with gasoline. they informed me that it is normal and does not pose a problem. i do not believe them, i have read of instances where peoples cr-v's have stalled out, and of premature engine wear. i do not feel safe driving this vehicle. gasoline in the oil can not be right.
Smell of gas is strongly present on the oil dipstick. the reading of the dipstick is above the full mark and it continues to rise. oil was always changed by dealer. foul smell is sometimes very noticeable on the outside of the car. car heat in cold weather is very very slow before it heats the interior.
After reading articles delineating that the 2017 and 2018 honda crv 1.5l turbo charged engines were receiving complaints regarding fuel mixing with the oil, i checked the oil and found that the dipstick was above the upper mark by a quarter of an inch and the oil smelled like gasoline. changed the oil and found that the oil viscosity was runny and the old oil had a strong fuel smell. prior to changing the oil, i had been noticing a fuel smell from time to time within the passenger compartment of the car while driving.
Upon removing the oil cap, there is a very strong odor of gasoline. after further research we found that this seems to be a problem this make and model of vehicle made by honda. we will be contacting the service department at our local honda dealer where the vehicle was purchase 10/2017. this vehicle has been driven about 1,500 miles. very concerned about the reported stalls and long term effect of the engine itself. i am also concerned with potential of the vehicle stalling and losing both power steering and abs. i want this issue on record with the nhtsa.
Crankcase is filling with gasoline from the cylinders causing a high level on the oil dipstick (approx.1/2 inch above the high mark) also known as oil dilution.oil had no viscosity when i changed it and it reaked of gasoline.two different honda dealers and american honda customer service all acknowledged that there aware of the issue but they haven't come up with a remedy yet.meanwhile my vehicles engine and i am sure thousands more are being prematurely abused and worn because of gasoline (solvent) in the oil.honda needs to make this right and soon!
After learning of the fuel in oil problem via an article in consumer reports, i checked my oil, which had been changed 2,500 prior to that check. the oil smelled strongly of gasoline, and the level was very high. i called the dealership from which i'd purchased the car i have to take the car in next week to have the dealer check it out honda has been aware of this problem for quite some time but failed to notify owners. in fact, broad notification has yet to take place. i want this fixed. if honda doesn't move more rapidly, they've lost me as a customer.
Oil level was noticeably higher and had a fuel smell to it. we did take it to the dealership they said there no fix for it as of now but to change my oil more often.
My oil level is above normal and smells of gasoline. no other symptoms so far.
Vehicle loses power under acceleration. oil dilution seems to be the aparent cause. oil level is way above the 'max' level in the oil dipstick. strong gas smell in the cabin. problem is widespread among owners of this vehicle (1.5 turbo engine). honda says 'it's normal', but then promises that 'problem is going to be fixed in next year model'.
I have been noticing a fuel smell in the passenger cabin. it seems to be a major issue. i have been told from the dealer to change the oil and let the car warm up longer. that's the fix. come on honda. this is ridiculous. you nhtsa need to make sure honda is held totally responsible.
Intermittent fuel odor in cabin when stationary and driving . heavy odor of fuel in motor oil and increased oil level on oil dip stick.
Smell of gasoline inside cabin all winter. filing this complaint regarding the design flaw that mixes gasoline with oil.
1. gasoline leaking in to engine oil. evident by gasoline smell and high level when checking oil. 2. poor or no heat in cold weather conditions. this causes a safety risk driving in snowy weather. windshield will not defrost. typically happens during stop and go city driving. service appointment is currently scheduled for 12/6 and issue will be reported to the dealer also.
Gasoline in the engine oil. level of engine oil as measured with dipstick rising. inadequate heat in passenger compartment when ambient temperature below 25f when driving around town (10 miles).
This complaint is related to my vehicle diluting the oil with unburnt gasoline and creating fuel odors in the cabin as well as premature engine wear.. my vehicle now has ~ 15000 miles and has just completed its 3rd oil change. each oil change has recorded on the service order the drained oil amount and each time the fluid level was larger then what was filled at the prior oil change. the last change the dealership recorded 17 oz more fluid then what went in, this was all gasoline. this is resulting in gasoline odors in the cabin which are creating an unsafe environment for my passengers and myself. it seems highly likely that accumilating gasoljne vapors in the interior of the vehicle pose both a health hazard and a possible fire or explosion risk . honda has acknowledged there is a oil dilution problem with these vehicles but rejects the notion that the byproducts of this design flaw, namely the accumulating gas vapors pose any safety risk at all. since honda has not remedied this flaw i am asking that this transportation organization investigate these claims for validity and instruct them to correct this health, and safety risk as well as the premature or accelerated wear of my engine due to this acknowledged flaw.
1.5l turbo engine. oil is diluted with gasoline, raising oil level, reducing friction and increasing engine wear. in worst case the oil level causes check engine light and engine stalling, causing safety issue. oil smells strongly of gas, inside cabin has stron gas smell at times. engine does not heat enough to warm the car in cold weather.
Vehicle has 1.5 l turbo engine and gas is diluting the engine oil. level has risen 10 mm above the last oil change level done 4/19/18, after 5070 miles. some owners have reported this to nhtsa as a vehicle stalling problem, which i believe is a safety issue. this has not happen to us, but i am concerned that it could. i reported it to my local honda service at ganley honda of n. olmsted, oh. they seemed to be unaware of this potential problem, even though consumers reports did an extensive article on the 1.5 l oil dilution problem.
Engine oil diluted, smelling of fuel, dirty, and increasing in volume. oil was changed (2nd oil change) and at proper level 8/25/2018 at 15,413 miles. today, at 10/29/2018 and 17,510 miles, oil level is about 10 mm above max fill mark. bad smell sometimes in cabin.
Oil reading was too high pass the max level plus fuel smell mixed in with oil . ( engine oil dilution )
