2017 honda crv- ex / stalling on freeway vehicle identification number ' [xxx] on may 29, 2018, my car which has 16,0000 miles on it, started making a horrible engine noise, cylinders misfiring, loss of power and stalled while on the 405 freeway, i began to panic due to fact i was in the fast lane. i started to smell gas in the passenger compartment while cars are streaming to halt to avoid a multi car pileup. i didn't know whether to get out of the car or stay in, that's when i saw an 18 wheeler barreling towards me trying to stop. this truck came 2 feet from rear ending me. i was to shaken to speak for 5 minutes because my life flashes in front of me. this is a safety issue and honda should conduct an official recall. does someone have to die before a recall take place? honda's manager of recalls, brad ortloff, said oil in these engines could be diluted because of software settings or potential hardware failures. some vehicles could experience a loss of power, leading to cylinder misfires or engine noise. in addition to those symptoms, consumers have reported that their engines stalled or that the vehicles experienced a sudden loss of power, raising safety concerns. during the past 6 months i've been having the following problems with my vehicle ' oil dilution, rising oil levels, stalling and loss of power and stalling. i understand that honda motor company, ltd has recalled 350,000 honda crv's in china & canada because of the same problem. i would like honda to buy back my vehicle due to rising safety issues. given that the problem is well documented, honda has a responsibility to address these issues in an open and transparent manner. While driving vehicle in the city, check engine light flashes on and off. vehicle loses power and will not accelerate, creating serious safety issue. dealer confirmed engine oil dipstick had unusally strong smell of gasoline. vehcile has been serviced once by honda dealer. i was assured that all necessary fixes were made. same issue happened again. returned vehicle to honda dealer for additional service.
Dilution of engine oil, which has been infiltrated by gasoline. low power in driving. strong smell of gasoline in the cabin. vehicle was in motion at first detection of gasoline smell.
The oil dipstick is showing the oil level to be substantially higher than the max oil level. i took it to the honda dealer 1/2/19. they showed me a service bulletin indicating that gas could be mixing with the oil, but honda considered that a normal operating condition for that model. they offered no solution to the problem, but did change the oil at my request. i consider gas mixing with the crankcase oil a serious problem. action should be taken to remedy this problem.
Fuel odor in cabin after getting back on road at times when reaching destination. didn't think too much about it till i recently smell gas on oil dip stick. i will be calling dealership asap.
Gasoline smell in vehicle, gasoline overfilling engine oil. gasoline smell in vehicle shortly after starting when cold. vehicle is parked when the smell is noticed. i'm also worried that with the oil mixing with the oil that engine failure may happen.
We bought our crv from honda of fife on 9 april 2017. since that time, our car has had three stalls. the first two were during the month of may, 2017 as we were travelling at slow rates of speed in blizzard and heavy snow conditions in montana and alberta; the temperatures were mild, for snow storms, probably in the mid to high 20s f. in both of these instances, the visibility was about 100' and we were alone on these roads; however, it would have been very dangerous to be parked in the middle of the road if anyone else had been coming out of the white of the storm; in both instances, the car restarted immediately. i'd thought the issue might be poor or frozen fuel so didn't report the issue to honda. the third time the crv stalled was on the i-10 bridge over the mississippi at baton rouge, la.in march of 2018.the temperature was in the 60s. in this case, we were in very slow, stop and go traffic, in a very tight, narrow lane due to construction; there were no turn outs or verges. as we started the climb up the west side of the bridge, the car stalled , there were no stop lights or brakes applied as i had no warning the car was going to quit and the car behind me, barely stopped before rear ending us. it started again immediately and we did not create a long term impediment to the flow of traffic. again, i did not report this issue as i thought it might be poor fuel. american honda has confirmed that there is a problem with gas getting into the engine oil too; a dealer noted that our oil smelled of gas; we do not know the long term affects on the engine or any hazards the condition poses. *js *tr
