There is a violent shaking feeling coming from the engine area along with a loud constant rattling sound coming from the same area. this happens when driving and when stationary. the dealership said it was a tensioner (?) arm and charged me $580. the sound persists and is worse when the air conditioner is running. also the back seat passenger side lock makes a loud buzzing noise when locked or unlocked.

Car "jerks" or slips when going uphill. reported to mcminnville honda, mcminnville, oregon 97128 beginning of 2016. service manager said unable to duplicate "jerking" or slipping action when going uphill. told me to contact honda customer service, which i have done twice now. my honda care warranty expires tomorrow, 10/11/16. now i have to worry that after tomorrow my dealership will find the "jerking" or slipping problem and i will be handed a huge bill which i cannot pay. my 2008 cr-v has 95,000 miles on it currently and i was told "you will get about 200,000 miles on this car by the salesman" who sold me this car! i am 70 years old and on a fixed income and cannot afford an expensive repair. i have discussed this with honda customer service and my dealership and now i am desperate. i paid over $1200. for the honda care warranty and now i am "being held up" by the threat of not being told there is something wrong and now that your warranty has ended you are on the hook for a problem you first reported in the beginning of the year! could this be caused by the transmission or some other part i.e. axel? i was told in 2011 by right honda, scottsdale, az, that honda care disallowed a problem with the rear axel. please help me.thank you. the safety recall hotline is closed today for columbus day. *tr

I had driven the car from florida to ny with my dog. while travelling north on i95 i noticed some intermittent bucking, hard shifting, and going into neutral. it was intermittent so i assumed it was some anomaly. after stopping at my families residence in yonkers ny. i drove the car to riverdale to visit my mother. after leaving the nursing home i proceeded on the return trip to yonkers. i was northbound on the sprain parkway and exited at tuckahoe road. there is a full stop sign at the intersection. i was fully stopped looked both ways an inched out to make a right turn ( the visibility of oncoming traffic in the eastbound direction is limited because of an incline and the road has high traffic volume during the day) i am not certain if the car slipped back into neutral or the individual behind me failed to make a full stop. i was hit rather hard in the rear end. with or without the transmission concern the car behind me did not obey the stop sign. my car was towed to a collision and repair facility. when the technician was assessing damage he performed a road test and found the car hesitating and shifting in and out of gear. he checked the transmission fluids and found them to have a burning smell and be black. i had only had the transmission fluid flushed and changed in january. and prior to that less than 5 months earlier. *tr
This is my third complaint to your agency. my previous complaint numbers: 10561753, 10560625, and 10548352. my cr-v has an unwanted acceleration problem. as i am applying the brakes to stop, the engine speed increases and requires very hard braking and shifting the transmission into neutral. this has occurred several times in the past 6 months. i have taken my car to the honda dealer and it was examined by a factory representative who reported there is nothing wrong. this opinion is based on the problem not occurring during the day they had the car. this problem does not occur every day or even every week. i told them that the power control module may be the problem but they refuse to replace it. my contacts to independent repair shops have resulted in being told this is a problem to be addressed by honda and not an independent shop. i feel that an accident will eventually occur and i don't know where to turn for help. please help me resolve this dangerous situation. *tr
Vehicle shutters violently when accelerating between the speeds of 20mph through 50 mph... *js
My 2008 honda cr-v, purchased new by me, has an unwanted acceleration problem when braking. i filed a previous complaint with your office and never received a reply. i have contacted honda regarding this problem and they stated i will be contacted by their representative. this is a serious safety problem and other owners have listed identical problems on the internet. this problem has occurred at least 6 times. This is my third complaint filed with nhtsa regarding 6 instances of unwanted acceleration when braking. since my last complaint i contacted my dealer, boardwalk honda of 6807 tilton road, egg harbor township, new jersey 609.428.4422. the dealer made a contact with honda corporate and an appointment with a honda representative to inspect my vehicle was set. on jan. 27, 2014 they had my vehicle for a full day. because the unwanted acceleration did not occur on that date, i was given a report that nothing is wrong with the cr-v. i had explained that it only occurred 6 times over a 6 month period and it was not reasonable to expect it to occur on a specific date during the inspection. i heard that it could be the power control module (pcm), but apparently honda does not want to replace it as a safety issue. i need help with this problem before someone is hurt. *tr
Passenger side door lock will not stay unlocked. either manually unlocked or automatic such as when the transmission is put in park position. this causes a potential safety problem for any passenger sitting in the passenger location. they cannot conveniently exit the vehicle at any time. *tr

Approx 17-20 mph car has difficulty getting to next gear, losses power. very scary! *tr
I had just depressed my accelerator pedal to travel on the rt. 123 bridge in occoquan, va when the accelerator got stuck all the way down and my car accelerated from 30 mph to 80 mph in a 1/4 mile stretch. i slammed on my brakes and the accelerator kept on going and then i heard and felt a sound of the accelerator crunching and the car slowed down. i am really shaken and at hendrick honda in woodbridge trying to determine if my car is safe or not to drive. i saw the five similar incidents in the database recorded since 2008, whereas people have been hurt and injured. i do not see a recall and wondering what it takes to get a recall on this serious and life threatening issue? *tr
Fellow honda owners: just started experiencing doorlock failures. (61,000 miles). my noticed rear door lock (behind passenger)not locking after key fob is clicked. also noticed as car accelerated from 5-10mph the all door locks would attempt to lock. driving us crazy as well as posing a safety issue. can't leave valuables in the car for fear of it getting stolen. read that it's the actuator. p/n 72155-s5a-a01. also honda has not issued a recall on this problem. i guess once it reaches a major threshold (1000 complaints)- then they'll act. otherwise it's the owners responsibility to replace the actuator. all actuators should be replaced because they eventually will fail. dealers will gladly perform the replacement of actuators. what ever happened to honda reliability ? i guess they don't build them like they use to. this vehicle was built in japan, however the actuator part was probably manufactured elsewhere. really disappointing honda..........on my model 2008 there is also a pending switch transmission problem. i wonder when honda issues a recall for that? *tr
The vehicles brakes are horrible, it the front rotors mostly, they deteriorate very quickly along with the high quality brake pads. i replaced the rotors at 70,000 and they are already getting damaged . there has been an unsettling vibration in the braking/steering system since we bought the car . i am convinced that honda no longer makes quality vehicles and the sooner they stop making cars the better. at 25,000 miles we had the ac clutch start to slip on us while we were in about 120'f temps in bon our way to bullhead city. we arrived completely soaked in sweat and with the beginning stages of chapped lips from the hot air blowing from the ac. we had an air leak in the moon roof since we bought it, all honda did was make us waste our time while the mickey moused the seal, on the way home from the dealers after they supposedly fixed it ,it started making the whistle again after i opened and closed it. i had grease prints all over the head liner from that experience.the leather arm rest started bubbling and peeling about a year after the purchase, it looks horrible . i have had better used cars then this. i have nothing to say about honda except if you value your life and your families life and value what you buy with your hard earned money . then don't ever ever buy a honda. they deserve to go out of business and be sued by every person that ever bought from them . *tr
At approximately 1500 rpm while cruising, vehicle shudders. acts like trying to shift between gears but won't engage. condition ceases when accelerator released or depressed. occurrences at speeds between 20 & 45 mph frequent. family member had low mileage honda accord with same problem, which was only solved through transmission replacement. *tr
Car is idling very rough, wants to stall out when stopped at a traffic light or stop sign. transmission is jerky when starting up again after coming to a full stop. *tr
As i drive and reach approximately 45 mph, the car begins to shudder. in order to get it to stop, and i either step harder on the accelerator or i step off the accelerator. this problem happens about 90% of the time and will sometimes happen at a slower speed (25 mph) also, but much less frequently. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 honda crv. the contact was driving 65 mph when the vehicle decelerated and would not accelerate over 45 mph. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who performed a diagnostic that located the failure at the computer control module. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the failure and the current mileage was 58,000.
2008 crv with about 25,000 miles has a turn noise at the rear end. it was told by dealer the differential fluid need be replaced. *tr
Ongoing problem from when i purchased the cr-v in 2010. many times when shifting into reverse there is an loud, audible clunking as the gears grind. i've been parked next to other cr-v's and noticed the same noise as the cr-v is put into reverse. this must be a common problem. also the doors were locking and unlocking on their own while i was driving, and i had to have the lock mechanisms on all 4 passenger doors replaced. lastly there is an annoying whistling noise in the duct work for the heat and a/c. i have to keep the recycle button on to somewhat diminish it.
After three service attempts by the honda dealer to correct the car not tracking straight, i had a local alignment shop install rear camber adjusting kits. car did not track straight, prior to installing the after-market kits, the car would continually drift left. the dealer now states the warranty is void because i put non-honda parts on the car. when i called the dealer parts department, they have the same after market rear camber kit. searching customer complaints on sites such as edmound's, a significant number of customers complain about tire wear. my tires were wearing excessively and abnormal prior to correcting alignment on all four wheels. it appears that the 2008 honda cr-v has a manufacturer defect and later year cars do not when a search of customer complaints is done. *tr
A newly purchased honda crv 4wd 2008 model in manila. driving was practically immobilized when malfunction indicator lamp(mil), vehicle stability assist (vsa) light, vsa activation light, and abs light were illuminated was an abnormal gear engagement, we were nearly hit from behind because of delayed, short-intermittent engine acceleration. most of the warning lights deal with wheels and brakes but practically there was no engine rev when you step on the gas pedal.*tr
After parking car and while braking to put it in "park" gear, the crv ex-l raced forward at high speed and veered to the right. upon impact, the vehicle then went in reverse and when braking, the car races instead of stopping. upon hitting the back curb and a vehicle, the car was thrust forward and raced forward. crv ex-l would not respond to braking. *tr updated 04/25/08 *bf
