We have classified the 2 complaints from 2007 Honda CR-V about STRUCTURE into the following categories.
Vehicle failed state inspection due to excessive corrosion in the rear frame and the risk of the rear-trailing separating from the frame and likelihood of an ensuing accident. the inspection station strongly recommended against repair due to the stress point, and integrity of the surrounding structures. i opened case # 10157114 with american honda, and they have the documentation of the issue along with pictures taken by an authorized honda dealer. this same issue was identified in 2019 by transport canada recall # 2019025. honda canada's statement regarding the recall: "excessive corrosion to the rear frame may result in frame stiffener perforation and, in extreme cases, cause the rear-trailing arm to separate from the vehicle's frame structure. a separated rear-trailing arm may cause the vehicle to be difficult to control, increasing the risk of a crash." american honda (usa) refuses to recognize the issue, and insists this is only a honda canada issue. the problem with that stance is that canadian production of the cr-v model did not begin until the 2012 model year. cr-vs for both the canadian and us markets for the 2007-2011 model years were primarily produced in east liberty, oh, usa and sayama, saitama, japan. thus the manufacturing specifications for the frames of the vehicles subject to the canadian recall will exactly match those sold in the usa as they came off the same production lines. the vehicle subject of this complaint was assembled at the japan facility.

Rear passenger door locks make a loud repetitive noise when opening, closing, locking and in motion. sometimes the door does not lock/unlock
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda cr-v. the contact stated that there was a failure with the usage of the rear passenger door lock. the dealer was contacted at (honda apostlakis located at 3156 elm rd cortland ohio 4410) where the technician informed the contact that there was a manufacturers recall that had expired related to the failure. the manufacturer had not been contacted nor informed of the failure. the failure mileage was unknown.
Honda drive slow all doors make noise while driving remote key change to a key tire light stay on at all time all doors locked up had to pay for a lock smith
Front passenger door lock will not stay unlocked after being activated from the driver's side or passenger side. this poses a safety problem should the front passenger need to exit the vehicle in an emergency situation. the rear driver's side door lock will not stay locked, after manually "locking" the vehicle and especially after the vehicles automatic locking system is activated. this poses a safety issue should a child, or a passenger if any age can open the door while the vehicle is in motion. this is a safety feature and door locks should be covered by honda with no expiration.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda cr-v. while the vehicle was stationary, the front passenger door actuator malfunctioned, locking the passenger inside the vehicle. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 272,000.
Door locks keep going out. vehicle won't lock, alarm doesn't work, someone can jump in my car at a stop light. i'm a widow alone. this the 3rd door the locks broke in 3 yrs. cost several hundred dollars each time.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda cr-v. the contact stated that the rear driver side door locks functioned independently. in addition, the rear passenger door and trunk did not unlock. prior to the failure, the vehicle made abnormal noises. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the actuators in the trunk, rear driver, and rear passenger side doors were defective and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. prior to the failure, the vehicle was taken to the dealer where they replaced the rear passenger side door actuator. the manufacturer was not notified of the failures. the failure mileage was approximately 171,000.
Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2007 honda cr-v. the contact was not experiencing a failure until the vehicle was taken to the dealer (kelly honda, 40 lynnway, lynn, ma 01905, (781) 595-5252) two years ago for a manufacturer recall to service the door lock actuator. the contact stated that there was an intermittent failure, which caused the contact to be locked inside the vehicle. in addition, the doors failed to lock and unlock. the contact also took the vehicle to the dealer for nhtsa campaign numbers: 17v030000 (air bags) and 16v061000 (air bags), but was uncertain as to when the parts would be supplied to the dealer to receive the repairs within a reasonable time frame. the contact was also uncertain about the door lock actuator failure and reported the failure to the manufacturer. the failure mileage was not available. parts distribution disconnect.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda cr-v. the contact stated that the doors of the vehicle failed to open and close from the interior and exterior. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that all four door actuators needed to replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed that a manufacturers recall related to the failure had expired in mid november of 2015. the failure mileage was 98,000.
If the car battery is dead, the rear lift gate cannot be opened from the outside nor the inside without tools (i just found out that there is an unlabeled cover inside the lift gate that hides the inside emergency manual release; but it cannot be removed without a tool) . this means that the spare tire and tire changing tools are going to be unreachable. moreover, if the side doors are damaged in any way so that the rear lift gate is the only reasonable way to exit the vehicle, it cannot be used. i contacted the honda customer service number (800.999.1009) and they were unable to provide an answer inasmuch as the owner's manual was their only resource. they refused to provide any other resource or escalate my concern.
Door lock actuators for rear doors are defective. unable to lock rear doors.
The rear passenger door automatically unlocks after main lock button is pushed on interior of driver's door as well as on the key fob. all other locks can easily lock/unlock manually except this door. it seems to be stuck until the button on driver's side door is pushed to lock. but almost instantly, it will unlock again. anytime the car is driven past 9mph, the car keeps trying to lock all the doors making an annoying noise. *tr
Rear right door locks itself approximately 1/2 second after unlocking, whether via electric switch or by manually pushing the unlock lever. i consider this a safety issue, as egress is only possible by a precisely-timed, two-step process: unlock the door and rapidly actuate the door handle. the component does not fail-safe; it fails into an unsafe mode. *tr
My 2007 honda cr-v, passenger door locks itself immediately after unlock by the main lock/unlock switch, key fob or the manual tab in the door. we have to be very precise in unlocking and pulling the door at the same time. even a second delay could bring the boor back in to unlock position. this can be very dangerous in case of fire or accident as the passenger can not unlock and escape from the vehicle. please look in to it. thanks *tr
Front passenger door will not stay in unlocked position after using manual unlock, or key fob. just forces back to locked. am concerned that if there is a crash - the door will not be able to be opened. *tr
The first sign of a door locking problem started with my rear hatch not opening. as a senior female i had to struggle to get 10 40lb bags of smelly wet fertilizer over the passenger seats and out a passenger door. the next day i found the rear passenger door does not lock and the locks keep clicking as you drive. two honda dealers we called offer nothing but an expensive repair. my research on the internet tells me after drivers pay honda many hundreds of dollars for this repair the problem returns on another door or the actuator they replace fails again.this is a safety hazard for both a passenger falling out or a criminal getting in and attacking someone or stealing the car and or its contents. why is nothing being done when so many people are at risk.this is not a potential problem, it is an existing problem for crv, civic and accord drivers. *tr
The car was in bumper to bumper traffic, driver had foot on brake pedal. the car began to accelerate and would not stop even with foot on brake pedal. vehicle struck two cars and ended up smashing into the rear of a stopped 18 wheeler. *tr
Front passenger door kept locking on its own automatically and immediately every time i unlocked it. after a few months, rear right passenger door makes loud sound every time i lock the doors, scared a kid in the vehicle as it happened unexpectedly. dealers didn't mention anything about safety issues, replaced the first one for $250 plus labor charge and have asked me to get the car for servicing again to see if the second one needs to be changed as well. i have had regular maintenance since buying the car. i looked up online and found out about multiple cases with actuator problems with crv models but honda not taking responsibility to replace or recall to fix defective actuators despite being aware of the defects. class action suits have been filed by people as it is causing safety issues but honda still not taking responsibility, not sure what you can do to make them take responsibility. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda cr-v. the contact stated that both rear driver and passenger side doors failed to lock or unlock remotely or manually. the contact also mentioned that the lift gate failed. the vehicle was taken to a dealer for a diagnosis. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure and current mileage was 100,000. updated 04/22/14 ma updated 04/24/14
We have a 2007 honda crv and have been having issues with our locks. they will click numerous times when they are not supposed to...everytime a stop is made while driving the car they reclick. it can be a stop sign, stop light, or just a brief stop and we will hear a clicking sound like they are relocking. we have often noticed that when someone tries to enter the driver door or front passenger door the unlock mechanism on the key or driver door has to be hit at the exact same time for a person to be able to open the door. although it is very frustrating to hear these clicks over and over and to have to deal with trying to get into the car like this, there is an even bigger issue of safety. the rear passenger door (behind the driver's seat) will unlock itself after the car is in motion. you can hear the rear door click to unlock and it will show orange. what is even more alarming is that the rear door can be opened while the car is in motion even after the doors have been manually locked by the driver pushing the lock button! this is a serious safety hazard as my children ages 7 and 9 ride in the backseat of our crv. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda cr-v. the contact stated that the door locks would independently become unlocked. the failure started on the rear passenger's side door and progressed until all doors in the vehicle were affected. the vehicle was not repaired or diagnosed to determine the cause of the failure. the manufacturer was not contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 111,000. *tr
The passenger door regularly does not remain electronically locked despite using the driver door switch and/or remote. this could pose a serious safety concern if involved in vehicular accidents since the occupants may become entrapped when the defect prevents an occupant from unlocking the doors. furthermore, this defect jeopardizes the safety of vehicle occupants since not all doors are capable of being manually unlocked from the exterior. instead, and with the exception of the vehicles driver door, the electronic locking mechanism is the only method available to gain access to the vehicle from the exterior - only the driver's door has a slot allowing use of a physical key. while this issue risks the safety of all occupants, the door lock defect poses an acute risk to children in the front seat since they may be unable to open the door from inside the vehicle and, due to the lack of an exterior locking mechanism, an individual on the outside may not be able to unlock these doors and gain interior access. honda has apparently long been well aware of this issue. despite its longstanding knowledge of this design defect, honda has routinely refused to repair the cars without charge when the defect manifests. as a result of defendants unfair, deceptive and/or fraudulent business practices, owners and/or leasees have suffered an ascertainable loss of money and/or property and/or loss in value. the unfair and deceptive trade practices committed by honda has caused many aggravating circumstances. had i known about this defect, at the time of purchase, i would not have bought it, or would have paid substantially less for it. honda's alleged actions to properly notify consumers of this issue - and to offer successful repair at no charge to consumers - has seriously harmed hondas reputation. *tr
Right rear door, actuator switch making a horrible noise. sometimes the door will not lock at all. i have read of literally hundreds of other honda crv's that do the same thing and honda should stand behind this defect instead of ignoring it. they should live up to their reputation! *tr
On 08/09/2013 i parked my honda crv in my driveway and locked my car with my keyless remote. one hour later our family decided to go out to dinner. we went out to our car and it wouldn't open. tired the key in the door and tried the keyless remote also tried the spare keyless remote, would not open. at 9:30 p.m. we call aaa to open the car, at 10 p.m. aaa showed up and opened the front passenger door. he got the door open, we decided to take the car to the honda dealer in the morning. during the night, the doors automatically locked. i needed to go to work, had to get a ride with someone else. my husband waited 3 hours for a tow-truck to show up to take it to a honda dealership. we were very surprised to find out this was not covered by a recall, this is a safety issue. where we live the temperature during the day in august runs from 95 degrees to 110 degrees, if this happened during the day and children were in the car, this could cause death.
Door actuator unlock after locking it. *tr
Drivers door key wont open door. *tr
The front 2 doors lock and unlock at random times. the front passenger door would not allow my daughter to get out of car or allow me to open manually from the outside. the is a very big safety hazard. honda dealership wants $400.00 per door to fix. i guess they are waiting until someone dies from this to recall. *tr
1. the driver's door could not be locked; 2. the rear right side door could not be locked and also could not be opened from inside the car. 3. the tailgate could not be opened. *tr
Driver's side rear door lock moves itself into unlock position either immediately after locking, or within a few minutes of driving. the actuator will lock, but there is clearly a spring force that gradually unlocks the door during driving, or even when stationary in a parking lot. i first noticed the problem as the doors would continually try to lock in stop and go traffic. eventually, i found which door, when i opened it from the outside when all others were locked. it doesn't matter if the child safety switch is engaged or not. the door will still unlock itself. *tr
I own a 2007 honda crv whose front driver and passenger and rear passenger doors lock and unlock constantly as i drive. when i turn off the vehicle i cannot lock my front passenger door so that lock remains unlocked at all times. in addition, there have been occurrences where i park and turn off my car but i cannot unlock my front driver door so i need to slide across to the passenger side in order to exit my car. these issues have been both dangerous and annoying. the cost to repair each door is out of my reach so i have had to endure. *tr
Door locks began to lock and unlock by themselves repeatedly as i drove, unlocking @ around 9 mph no matter how many times i relocked. if i relocked them they would open at an intersection stop (very unsafe also!), or just open & close while i was driving - all kinds of noisy door-locking & unlocking. i was unable to keep the rear door locked at all when i stopped the car, leaving it unlocked at night or if i left the care to go somewhere. i was on a trip with luggage, computer, gps, etc. in the car and it was unlocked! when i got back home to rhode island and brought it to the dealership they found the lock actuators on the front & rear passenger doors needed to be replaced at a cost of $524. they stated they didn't know what happened but it was not cause by anything i did, which made me even more uncomfortable because then it might happen again! i felt i had to pay to have the service completed because i felt so unsafe with an unlocked auto, both on the road when driving and also overnight or when parked. i have just submitted this information, service invoice, and a copy of my proof of payment to honda in torrance, ca, only because i saw a similar complaint on wpri-tv in providence - which made me realize i was not at all alone with this issue. *tr
Dear nhtsa, i own 2007 crv ex-l . i'm experiencing a peculiar problem in my crv sometimes the door gets locked automatically or when we try to open it through remote keys, door gets locks immediately with in a second. one time my kid was inside and accidentally i closed the door and it got locked. i was really scared but luckily after few tries, it got opened. i don't want to think about it, if this happens in a crucial time when we want to open the door and all are inside the car.when i said this to my friend who owns 2008 crv, he said that he is also having the same problem and he referred another friend who has the same problem. so i think we need to investigate this issue to avoid any terrible situation in future. if needed i can share two of my friends information right now. when i searched internet, i found lot of people has the same problem particularly with 2007 to 2011 all honda models. *tr
The front passenger door lock automatically unlocks while the vehicle is moving and can't be relocked. also, the other door locks click for no reason. *tr
I was at the cabin finishing up some chores. went to put some tools in the back seat of the honda crv and the door would not open. the same thing happened to the back hatch. the door could not be opened with out great difficulty from the inside and not at all from the outside. the hatch could be opened also only from the inside after crawling over the seats and only after removing the latch panel and manually flipping the latch. after i got home i researched the problem and the internet is full of such problems. i understand that some models of crv 2006 and older had a recall. of course mine is a 2007. problems with the latch and actuator are a significant safety issue as if there was an accident or fire both of these egresses out of the vehicle would not be available either by the occupants or rescue personnel. the cost to get this repaired is significant leaving the potential for the problem not to be fixed immediately. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda cr-v. the contact stated that the front driver and passenger side doors failed to release whenever being accessed with the key fob or manually. the manufacturer was contacted and made aware of the problem. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 85,000.
Passenger side door lock does not function properly. the lock slowly unlocks itself. *tr
The front right passenger door and the hatch door were locked shut. i could not open either door with the remote or manually. i was concerned this could be dangerous for the passenger if we were ever involved in an accident and needed to get out of the car immediately. i did have both doors repaired. then a few months later the rear door started making a grinding noise whenever the doors locked or unlocked. then the drivers door would open and close all the doors at random times. i was concerned the doors would lock me out one day. i do make frequent car trips to see my family in another city and i did not want to get locked out while on route in the middle of nowhere. i have since had those two doors repaired for another few hundred dollars. this is a safety issue for anyone who might be in an accident and the doors will not open. i feel honda should take responsibility for this defect in the crv's before someone does get seriously hurt or worse. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda crv. the contact stated that the driver and rear passenger side door locks were inoperable. the contact was having difficulty getting in and out of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the actuator needed to be replaced because the door locks were automatic. the contact stated that the doors would lock as soon as they were opened. the manufacturer was notified and offered no assistance. the failure mileage was 135,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda crv. the contact stated that the front passenger's side door lock failed and would not open manually or with the key fob. the vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic, who stated that the parts needed to repair the vehicle were on back order. the failure mileage was 64,000 and the current mileage was 93,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda cr-v. the contact stated that she attempted to enter the vehicle but the doors would not unlock. the doors eventually unlocked after repeated attempts. the contact also stated that the vehicle would intermittently experience a failure in which it would not shift out of park unless allowed to rest for a long period of time. the vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop and the battery was replaced. the failures continued to occur. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assistance. the failure mileage was unknown. the vin was unavailable.
Driver door latch assembly/actuator causes doors to lock and unlock repeatedly beginning at approx 9 mph. with vehicle parked and turned off, doors re-lock repeatedly each time the door is unlocked making if difficult to enter or exit the vehicle. this was repaired, but failed again in july 2013 at approximately 48,334 miles. *tr
The icons on the lock and unlock buttons of the key/transmitter wear off prematurely. making it difficult to remotely open or close the doors. both the dealer and manufacturer claim the key/transmitter are not covered by the 3yr/36,000 mile warranty. *tr
When checking washer fluid, i noticed the fluid was not visible, so i added the proper fluid. as nothing happened, i looked under car, & the washer solution was running out on the concrete floor, as i poured it into jug. upon further examination, i found pieces of the tubing that had been chewed on, and in some areas, chewed completely through. one of these areas i was able to access via a plastic door, about 12 inches wide, by about 2 inches in height, located under the hood, in the center of the firewall, just below the windshield wipers. i found pieces of tubing in this area, also. looking further, i found insulation that mice had moved from an unknown area, to make their nest. with some difficulty, i finally received a call from a honda rep, in california. after about 25 minutes of discussion, in a peaceful manner, i was not offered any solution to the mice problem, as i was trying to get honda to help me determine where the point of entry was located at, in the car body, that would allow mice to gain entry. as a former auto mechanic, & a structure aircraft mechanic, i planned to make the repair myself. (the insulation movement could be affecting the a/c & heating systems, also). later, i found both of the wires to the left clearance light had been chewed completely through, wire & all. i later read on a web site, that the wiring insulation was made out of recycled food material, such as the husks from corn, or pods from mature dried beans!! i consider the windshield washer problem a safety hazard, for sure. other mfg of asian cars could be using food grade wiring. if the mice can't be stopped, they could totally destroy these newer type cars, looking for shelter, with a built-in food supply. this should be considered a fire hazard, also, in my opinion, due to causing a short-circuit in the wiring systems. *tr
Vehicle began resetting door locks whenever vehicle accelerated through 7 or 8 mph from stop. after awhile, driver side front and back doors would not lock automatically and intermittently the driver door could not be manually locked (heavy resistance when trying to flip latch). on a less frequent basis, the passenger side rear door would not auto or manually lock. for last several months the door lock solenoids fire like a machine gun whenever the doors are manually or automatically locked. some times they all lock, other times one or more of the doors won't. tolerated for many months as dealer wouldn't fix under warranty even though only 1000 miles and a few days past 12mo/36k coverage and didn't want to pay dealer estimated fix at up to 800 dollars. now starting to pick up grandchildren for after school care and need to fix. seems this problem has enough complaints to warrant recall? *tr
in 2007, we purchased a 2007 honda crv to tow, four wheels down. we purchased the blue ox aventa lx, bx7445 tow bar class iv (10,000 lb for a 2 inch receiver) and the base plate bx2246 made for the 2007 honda cr-v\, we found that the front fascia of the honda had pulled away and upon further inspection, discovered the blue ox base plate had failed. i mean, totally failed, the metal (not the bolts) had ripped, this happened on both sides, where the base plate is attached (bolted) to the frame. the base plate, was now only being held (and also our vehicle) only by the safety cables. *tr
To begin, i recently purchased directly from manly honda, in marin county, ca, earlier this jan/feb of 2007 a brand-new 2007 honda cr-v exl, $28k. a first-time car buyer, i had paid in full using my hard-earned money what i believed to be a reliable, dependable and trouble-free car. alas, i began noticing some irregularities with the car soon thereafter. to name but a few, they are as follows: 1) a tapping sound in the back of my car; 2) a wet spot noted on the floor of my garage under the hood area; 3) intermittent inability to start the car whereby the battery light would come on; and 4) inability to accelerate, but sudden surge thereafter when driving. i brought my vehicle in to be serviced on monday, august 13, 2007. later that afternoon i received a call from sf honda, the service dealer, to advise that: 1) the tapping sound in the back of my car is due to a welding defect. having jacked up the car and removed all the back panels to the vehicle, they had determined that the defective weld or welds were located further within the vehicle and my car would need to be sent to an auto body shop to be further stripped apart to determine the number of defective welds in question. 2) a powder test performed on my engine had determined that it was a transmission leak and the entire transmission would need to be replaced. 3) they had yet to determine why my car would fail to start and the battery light appear; and 4) the sudden surging of my vehicle once i had stepped on the accelerator was due to the defective leak in the transmission. upon hearing this, i was flabbergasted. who would have thought that a brand-new car, a honda which is noted for its reliability, would encounter such problems? and at 3,158 miles? and simultaneously? what does this say about honda's quality assurance and manufacturing standards? *tr
The door on the right of driver side was locked half year's ago. unable to open it. on sept. 19, 2013, the door on the right of the passenger side was locked. and now the doors on the left of passenger side as well as the trunk were locked. it pose serious safety danger. *tr
