Recently reported VISIBILITY problems on 2006 Honda CR-V

Driver's side window is malfunctioning. it gets stuck in the upright position, thus not closing the window. several occasions, the window will stick and not disengage to roll back down. the vehicle was taken into to honda with the recall notice. the advisor did not read recall notice and told me that the window would be sealed. two hours later, the window was stick stuck in the upright position not fixed. 12/15/2012, took the vehicle back into honda. i told the attendant that the master power switch needs to be repaired or replaced due to the recall. the window is still malfunctioning. the advisor then said it is a motor problem, and disregarded the recall notice. i said i will call american honda for more information. the repair has not been made. *tr

Driver side sun visor will not stay up. i went to honda owners' website and people are complaining about the same problem. there are honda cr-v owners who had replaced the sun visors on their cars more than three times. they and i think it's a safety issue since drivers don't have protection from sunlight and have difficulty seeing the traffic lights when the sun visor is down. *tr

The driver side sun visor does not stay in place, falling in field of vision, causing an obstruction of visibility. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 honda cr-v. the contact stated that while parked, the front drivers window would not close when the automatic window control button was engaged. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for a diagnostic test. the technician stated that the automatic power window control switch would have to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. there was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number 11v456000 (electrical system), that may be related to the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vin was not included in the recall. the approximate failure mileage was 61,000.

Both sun visors fail to stay in position when pushed against the window. they drop down to nearly vertical position. this is a safety hazard as it obstructs the driver's view while driving. *tr

The driver's side sun visor in my 2006 honda cr-v will not stay in the proper position. it has never stayed flush against the windshield, but rather sagged down about 1-2 inches; however, i just treated this as an annoyance previously. as of approximately two months ago, it started sagging even further when "opened" against the windshield, and now it no longer stays flush against the roof of the car either, or against the driver's side window if i have it rotated 90 degrees. it sags down several inches, no matter which direction it is turned or flipped. it impacts my visibility because it doesn't shield the sun properly, and it gets in my way, both physically, and by blocking more of my field of view than what is appropriate. i am not even tall--5'4". i purchased an extended warranty (8 years/120,000 miles) and am just shy of 80,000 miles now. i took the car to my local mechanic first, and they said the entire fixture needs replacement. then i called my local honda dealer to see if this was covered under warranty; they said, "call honda and ask them." meanwhile, i asked what it would cost me to repair this out of pocket: $151 for the visor and $52 per hour for labor, so over $200, likely. i called honda, and a very unhelpful customer service person said the sun visor is classified as interior trim and therefore, not covered under warranty. i strongly disagree--this is a safety issue, not a cosmetic irregularity on the dashboard, or something equally inconsequential. *kb

The driver side visor is loose and won't stay in position while driving. this is a safety hazard. if i'm in an accident, my head will be chopped by the visor. all of the honda forums show this is a common issue with the 2005-2006 cr-v. *tr

T he drivers side sun visor started falling down obstructing vision. it falls regardless of speed condition of road of weather. it is a real safety hazard because it blocks the drivers vision. *tr

2006 honda cr-v ex. driver's side sun visor will not stay up. dealer will not replace. is a safety issue because it obstructs vision. *tr

Honda has a problem with sun visors in 2006 honda cr-vs. the sun visors sag down and obstruct the drivers vision causing safety issues. you are not able to see traffic lights or traffic signs when sun visors sag down. many owners have had these visors replaced by honda up to 4 and 5 times and each new visor fails within weeks or months. owners are reporting the problems in popular automotive forums on the web. the visors in my 2006 cr-v have been replaced 4 times and the 4th set just failed again. honda has no explanation each time. i am calling honda's corporate office today. *tr

2006 honda cr-v, vin: [xxx]. compressor failed at 74k miles. interior vents now blow only hot air and the defroster no longer defogs windshield because compressor must work for defroster to work properly. i called american honda on 7/15/10. i was assigned a case #, and customer service escalated the issue 3 times. they refused to take responsibility for this compressor failure which is common on thousands of honda crv's from 2002 through 2006 (please see the forums on this issue). in some cases, honda has paid for the repair; in others, they paid for part of the cost of the repair; but in most, like for me, they refused to own up to this common defect. i wrote to tetsuo iwamura, ceo american honda, on 7/20. my letter was returned to customer service who again told me honda would do nothing. i wrote again to the ceo on 7/27, but received no response. i wrote again on 8/17 sending the letter via certified mail. that letter was received 8/19, but to date, there has been no response. again, this is a common problem on honda cr-v's. compressors should not fail at 74k miles. i never had this problem with any other car i have ever owned. and this is a safety issue because the compressor turns on when the defroster is on. without a working compressor, the defroster can not defog the windshield, and you can't see where you are going. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

While driving my 2006 honda cr-v i noticed a very strong burning smell that smelled like an electrical fire. it was very strong and i thought it was coming from the vehicle in front of me. i was at an outlet center in lk george , ny with 4 others in my car. we all were overwhelmed on how strong the odor was. i pulled out of the outlet driveway to get into the road so i could turn into the next outlet entrance. as i turned into the next outlet entrance , my driver's side window went down on its own a few seconds later i noticed smoke coming from the master window control and from my speaker panel below it. i stopped the car and had everyone get out. .911 was called and a firetruck came. the firemen took the inside panel of my car door off and found there were burned electrical wires that had caused melting within the door. there is no recall on this model honda. i looked up this problem online and found that the honda fit was recalled for this very problem in january,2010. the entire window master switch and it's corresponding wires had to be replaced as well as the inside door panel. *tr

Beginning in 2008 i began noticing that i was changing my headlamp bulbs on a fairly frequent basis. as much as 3 or 4 times a year. mostly on the drivers side. recently the low beam went out again, april 2013, and when i replaced the bulb the low and high beams both shined very dimly and when i switched on the high beams both lamps went out. i am at a loss but suspect that there is a switch problem. honda also recently recalled my vehicle for a faulty master window switch. *tr

I have a 2006 honda crv, bought new from leesburg honda. on feb 18,2007 i left car in their repair shop because windshield wipers stopped working. feb 20 i picked up car, no repair made. they claim it needs a new wiper transmission, that none are available for now, and that it is not a warranty item. i think it should be a warranty item & called honda to complain and was given case # n012007-02-2100228. from local and national honda i still do not have a date for repair or a decision as to why it was turned down for warranty claim. *jb
