Takata recall this car is under recall according to nhtsa's december 2016 third amended coordinated remedy order. the problem is that the recall is not showing up under a vin search for the car. honda has confirmed that this vin is affected by the takata recall, but it cannot send out a recall notice until nhtsa acknowledges the batch of affected vins that honda confirms it sent it to nhtsa on or around january 10, 2017 (however pursuant to the above referenced coordinated remedy order, this vehicle should have been under recall no later than june, 2016). i cannot get a dealership to perform the required repair until honda sends out the recall notice. that won't happen until nhtsa acknowledges that the vin, per honda, is affected by the recall. honda forwarded all the necessary information to nhtsa weeks ago. please provide explanations for these delays (specifically as to why this vehicle was not included in the recall under the timeline mandated by nhtsa, and why nhtsa has not yet acknowledged the vins from honda even since january 10, 2017). more pressing, however, is the need to get this vehicle repaired as soon as possible. it is in the highest priority group according to nhtsa's coordinated remedy order. please provide assistance in getting the necessary airbag replacement performed on this vehicle right away. thank you. please note that i am filing this complaint pursuant to jennifer timian's instructions in response to my email to her of 2/6/17. thank you.

On may 7, 2015 my honda dealer ordered a replacement airbag inflator for my crv as part of a recall for faulty and potentially lethal airbag inflators in honda crv's. by july 27 the part was still on backorder and they could not tell me when it might arrive. a recall letter arrived on july 27 so i called honda automobile customer service on july 27 and michael said someone would get back to me by july 28. no surprise, no phone call was received. this has gone on far too long for a potentially fatal issue.

Regarding the honda airbag recall: #1. i never received a recall notice from honda, although when i entered my vin number on their recall website, it said there was an open recall. #2. i have spent hours on hold when i call the listed honda number (888-234-2138). i have never received a call back from my case manager, whose name apparently is "onye." when i ask to speak to a supervisor, i am placed on hold indefinitely, or they take a message but never return my call. my case number is n032015-04-1601-1863. if you could assist me in this matter, i would greatly appreciate your help. thank you. i would just like a call back from a case manager from honda who can help get my airbags replaced.

I received a safety recall notice from honda stating that the air bags for 2002-2006 crvs were being recalled so i called norm reeves honda superstore in irvine, ca in april 2015 to schedule a service appointment. at the time norm reeves irvine stated that the airbags were on back order and that i would be contacted when they came in for replacement. i have not heard from them since (now end of august 2015) which is about 4 months since i called to make an appointment and put my name on a waiting list.
My complaint is against honda re their recall practices/dealer knowledge: according to the honda website, my vehicle airbag is to be inspected and replaced. i attempted to schedule this service at two dealers in albuquerque, nm (perfection honda and garcia honda. i was told it would take 2 visits - one to inspect and one to replace part if needed. yesterday i took my vehicle to garcia honda - their 'mechanic/oil changer' broke the head off the 'breakaway screw' while undoing it. after 3 hours in which they supposedly 'tapped' the screw, they told me to bring the vehicle back in a week and there was a 50/50 chance they would need to replace the airbag - but they didn't know. now, i am unsure to even drive the vehicle - suffice to say, if there is any damage to myself or passenger, there will be a major lawsuit against honda and particularly garcia honda! *tr

After making an appointment with voyles honda in marietta, ga for dec. 13, 2014 to have the recalled airbags changed, the dealership then informed me after service began that the front passenger-side airbag was not in stock. since then, i have not been able to get the passenger-side airbag changed. the dealership would not provide any information as to when it will be in stock. it's been 2 1/2 months, and i cannot have any passengers in the front, which is a hardship. *tr

Informed honda several times that vehicle was taken out of service as salvage in 2014. with last conversation, honda representative advised that the database that honda utilizes for tracking takata airbags is out of date ... and that it would take some time for honda to cease sending recall notices. this failure to maintain up to date records is counter-productive.

I was driving down the road at 45 mph when all of a sudden both my side air bags deployed. there was no collision or impact to the car. i almost drove off the road because i was so startled by this occurring. i contacted the honda dealership and they refused to do anything. i then contacted american honda and they refuse to do anything but give me an inspection of the vehicle. they want me to drive the car to the dealership. i contacted my insurance company and they came to look at the car. they found no reason why the airbags deployed and told me it was a manufacturers defect. i contacted american honda with this finding and they still refused to provide me with a tow to the dealership claiming they weren't liable for the defect. the insurance adjuster advised me not to drive the car because there may be problems with the front airbags, i am six months pregnant and am not going to risk my life or my child's life because of hondas inability to fix a problem with an airbag. i could have been seriously injured or killed because these airbags are defective. this is a very dangerous situation. how can airbags deploy with no warning or reason. *tr
It was reported last summer (2014) that many honda vehicles were being recalled due to faulty air bags. i called my honda dealership at the time of the news report and i was told that my 2005 honda cr-v was not under the recall. however, earlier this year i entered my car's vin in an online search and was shocked to learn that it was under recall due to faulty airbags. honda never to this date sent me a letter to inform me. i contacted honda corporate offices and they confirmed that my vehicle is under the recall. they did not sent me a letter because they are being sent in phases. i was told that an airbag for my car would be sent to my local honda dealership by early april. unfortunately, my dealership never received it and told me that the airbag is on order. honda corporate offered me a free loaner car so that i would not have to drive my current car. i do not want to drive a loaner car for months. i was told that honda would get to the people driving loaner cars before other drivers. they do not expect to service my car before the summer. i am extremely dissatisfied with this process: never receiving a recall letter & the time it is taking to get my vehicle fixed.
On a 2013 car accident. i along with 2 other passengers experienced a frontal collision ,with an oncoming vehicle ,who ran a red light. upon impact ,the airbag deployed.the force from the airbag was so severe,it forced my head back ,hitting(bruising) the passenger seated behind me. i momentarily blacked out,to be awoken by the burning sensation of my arm.some kind of solvent or kind of fuel cell to deploy the bag, caught fire and was burning my right arm.though the fire was only contained on my arm,and thankful it had not spread we were treated for trauma, myself for trauma and 2nd degree burns at the er.we also show reports from the attending physician and police reports, decribing the accident.we had tried to contact honda at the time, and checked if there was a recall was issued. though honda said that no recalls for that model at the time.....you can only guess my surprise, when i got a recall for the airbag.today....updated 10/07/14 *bf updated 5/13/2015 *js
Swerved to avoid hitting a deer and had a front end collision into a tree. the drivers side air bag deployed causing sever damage to the face. had to have reconstruction surgery on the right eye socket. was wearing a seat belt.
Tl* the contact owned a 2005 honda cr-v. while driving at an unknown rate of speed, the driver crashed into a tree. the driver side air bag deployed with extreme force. the driver sustained a fractured right eye socket, lacerations to the right cheek bone, whiplash, and also sustained further injuries that required medical attention. a police report was filed. the vehicle was destroyed. the air bags were not inspected by the insurance company to determine the failure. the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: (air bags), which was received after the contact experienced the failure. the recall was unable to be performed because the failure occurred years before. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was unavailable. ma 08/06/15 updated 8/14/15 *js
