We have classified the 4 complaints from 2003 Honda CR-V about SEAT BELTS into the following categories.
Was told by local dealer srs light led to seat belt buckle.. would not fix without big diagnosis fee and cost of part. did some research on web and found this looks like a very common problem.
At 78,000 miles my srs light came on in the dashboard and will not go off. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2003 honda cr-v. while driving approximately 65 mph, the rear passenger stated that the seatbelt got caught over his head. the contact stated that he had to cut the seatbelt to avoid the passenger choking. the vehicle was taken to a local repair shop where the seatbelt was replaced. the contact called the dealer who referred him to the manufacturer who stated that there were no related recalls. the failure mileage was approximately 92,000 and the current mileage was 93,274.
Seat belt around child using a child safety seat malfunctioned and could not be removed. seat belt continued to tighten to the point of suffocation for child. it would not retract. all efforts to release seat belt caused it to further tighten. due to fear that child would be asphyxiated, seat belt was cut. in effort to get it repaired, i have found that seat belts are not kept in stock and will have to be ordered.
The consumer's was involved in an front impact accident at 30 mph, and the driver's side air bag did not deploy. the manufacturer was contacted by consumer. *ak the driver's seat belt failed to restrain the driver. *sc *jb
The rear center passenger seat belt buckle blocks access to the rear passenger buckle. i asked the dealership and honda america to change this design and the dealer's answer was, "unable to relocate buckles for proper operation." basically the rear passenger has to ride without seat belt protection if there is a rear center passenger. *nm
Concerns regarding fires following oil changes in 2003 crv.*mr the passenger seat belt jammed and the drivers door lock failed. *jb
Involved in head-on collision with mid-size sedan, me - 35 mph, her - 15 mph. car was impacted 2 in left of center of license plate (driver's side) driving radiator up through engine. passenger's air bag deployed, driver's did not. driver's shoulder harness failed. driver received multiple contusions to face, chest, pelvis and sprained neck and upper & lower back.*ak
I was hit head-on by a mid-sized sedan which drilled my license plate back to the firewall. the driver's side airbag failed to deploy, despite the speed (me 45, her 20) and the driver's shoulder harness failed to restrain me. i crushed the steering column with my chest and had to be removed with the jaws of life. honda sent a technician who declared a faulty seatbelt and faulty airbag sensor. the vehicle sustained over $15,000 damage, was fully repaired, although my insurance paid for it, not honda. i sustained multiple soft-tissue injuries, broken ribs and a dislocated shoulder. i continue with therapy almost three years later. *nm
Problems with front brakes on 2003 honda crv.*mr there was a clunking noise coming from the brakes. when the dealer was notified the stated it was the characteristic of the suv and there was nothing they could do. the dealer did replace the lower brake pad retainer clips as per service bulletin. the consumer was offered to drive another 2003 crv to prove the noisy brakes were a characteristic of the vehicle. consumer wasn't happy with this and would like some sort of discount or the dealer to pay off the vehicle. the seat belt wouldn't latch. consumer had the throttle cable replaced to eliminate the noise but to no avail. consumer was informed the noise will never go completely away. *ph *nlm
Driver and rear center seat belt unbuckled after being buckled. rear center seat belt had a child seat installed when it unbuckled. dealership will be notified.*ak
