I was driving down i45 at about 70mph when i heard a really loud pop. confused, i was looking in all my mirrors trying to find out what happened, as i knew i didn't hit anything or feel anything. i hear loud wind noises, and open my sunroof shade to find 90 % of my sunroof had exploded up and out onto the freeway. nothing hit my sunroof. i wasn't driving behind anyone for at least a 1/4 mile. i didn't drive under an overpass. i was in the far right late, so nothing came from the other side. it just exploded. the glass remaining was angled outward, not inside my car. i have done my research. this is a recurring problem and needs to be addressed. the honda of spring dealership will not cover it under my warranty. this is a defect/manufacturing problem. the service manager even told me this isn't the first time he's seen it.... and you dont think its a problem?
The front windshield easily gets chipped and cracked from kicked up debris from other vehicles. driving, i have received 3 cracks in my windshield that have splintered badly. these incidents happen during driving on a paved road that has 2 lanes going the same direction. debris was kicked up from other vehicles driving in front of me. i have owned many cars in the past and have never had a problem of this magnitude.
The vehicle was running and in park when the rear window shattered for no apparent reason. it was about 60 degrees outside and the front and rear defrosters were on. the glass was still in new condition. there is no real explanation. among the witnesses was the sales manager to the dealership. even with that, the dealership still refused to treat it as a warranty repair.
