Defective sun visor recall this complaint involves the recall of the driver's side sun visor in 2009 and good for 7 years from that date. i had one visor, split apart at the top seam, replaced. the second visor not only split at the seam but came loose at the hinge and flew past my face while i was driving in april 2016. i had an appointment within the 7-year period but because i misread the warranty i kept putting off the replacement until after it expired. however, when i took my car to culver city honda, service manager rue ayala told me honda selected a 7-year window in order to replace the defective visors with defective visors to get rid of them. he said customers had come in as many as "three, four and five times for replacement visors." he offered me a discount, which i refused. why should my recalled part be as defective as the first one? the car should have come with a new and working part: that's what i paid for. my fear is the latest recall, the passenger side air bag, might also be replaced with a defective air bag. sun visors are also matters of safety. they should not fly off the hinge past your face while you're driving. fortunately, it did not strike my face. i have complained to acura honda, whose employees have given me the runaround since i began calling six weeks ago. i have been passed from case manager to case manager. i have asked to speak to a supervisor but have been refused. i have asked for the names of national and regional directors who oversee recalls, but have been told they are not allowed to give out that information. so much for good faith to a customer who has purchased two hondas. honda, in my opinion, has acted fraudulently regarding their bait-and-switch sun visor recall. i believe i deserve a new, non-defective sun visor at no cost to me. please help. The driver side visor split and swung down while driving. this could have caused an accident. it still obstructs my view while driving because it won't stay up. this is apparently a common problem that can reoccur. dealers want 100 to fix it. *tr

The driver side visor on my 2009 honda broke out of no where and now obscures my vision while driving because it wont go up anymore. unable to get the dealer to fix it because its not under "warranty" anymore but clearly a safety issue. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 honda civic. the contact stated the passenger side sun visor failed to stay in the up position. the manufacturer was not contacted. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 38,000.

Sun visor on passenger side of car hangs down. it will not stay up in the unused position. this is the second honda i have had with the same problem. honda of america says it is out of warranty so they will not replace or repair the part. this is dangerous because the visor blocks visibility to the right of the vehicle. there are numerous examples of this same problem on the internet. why is there no recall on this part? thank you. *tr

Sun visor split on the top and hangs down all of the time making it difficult to see traffic lights. *js

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 honda civic. the contact stated that the driver side rear window detached from the door.the vehicle was not taken to the dealer. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and the current mileages were 14,000.

My driver's side sun visor broke, causing it to fall down in my line of vision. it would not stay in the up position. apparently this is a very common happening in the honda civic and at this point, needs to be fixed once and for all with a recall and real fix, other than simply replacement with another visor that is also going to break! it also appears from what i've read online that the problem is cheap plastic and heat. yes, cars get hot in the summer, particularly if you lock them up as you should! honda claims it's not a "hazard" but i can assure you it is!! i was lucky b/c my car is still under warranty but no doubt when it happens again (and it will) it won't still be under warranty. *tr
