We have classified the 56 complaints from 2007 Honda Civic about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 honda civic. the contact stated that the vehicle caught fire while parked. the fire department extinguished the fire and filed a report. the vehicle was destroyed and the insurance company stated that the fire was caused by a defect in the wiring harness. the manufacturer and dealer have not been notified. the current and failure mileages were approximately 35,000.
H2007 honda civic hybrid. battery has failed and car does not have enough power to merge onto freeway. *tr
Got into the car one night in the winter of 2009, and the headlamps would not operate. *tr
2007 civic si sedan w/ premium sound system: only when the engine is running, and the radio is turned, all speakers emit a buzzing sound, whether the volume of the radio is all the way down or casually listening. you can hear the buzzing sound and it its very unpleasant. it occurs all the time the car is on and driving, or idling. when to dealer said they could not do anything about it since honda has not released a tsb for the problem. *tr
My vehicle is a 2007 civic hybrid. when its warm out and / or i have several people in the car the hybrid system will shut down. when this happens the car loses its ability to accelerate at an acceptable level. a few times i have attempted to merge into oncoming traffic and the car had so little power that all i could do was pull into the path of the oncoming traffic and not accelerate enough to get out of the way. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 honda civic hybrid. while driving approximately 35 mph merging on the interstate he engaged the accelerator pedal and suddenly the acceleration stopped. he also applied extreme pressure to the accelerator pedal but it felt like the acceleration did not increase. the rpms increased; however, the hybrid system was of no assistance. before he merged onto the interstate he observed the battery pack had five bars. when he felt the acceleration stop, the power gauge dropped from 5 bars to 1 bar rapidly. the vehicle was taken to the dealer five times for the failure. the dealer has performed two software updates on the vehicle. the failure had occurred 6 times since the last software update. the dealer advised him that honda was aware of the failure but does not have a fix and have refused to look at the vehicle. the failure mileage was 40,000 and the current mileage was 64,610.
Ima battery deterioration and/or ima battery draining resulting in little power/pickup. *tr
Own a 2007 honda civic hybrid. after about one year of ownership, the car started exhibiting troubling characteristics with the power management and available power. the car relies on a gas engine and electric assist to provide full power in all driving situations. during the summer when teperatures rise, the car starts to have difficulty providing power from the electric motor due to the battery crashing to 0. once the battery "recalibrates" the car provides very little power using only the gas engine. this battery crash happens on a daily basis and means in the real world that when i am pulling out into traffic i may have very little power to get the car up to speed and risk getting hit by oncoming traffic. to say the car becomes "sluggish" is an overstatement. honda has been unwilling to address this issue and it appears that the ar has a material defect that prevents the batteries from operating as intended in real world situations. when the air conditioner is in operation the battery will crash each time you drive the car. i feel very unsafe in this vehicle and honda is doing nothing to address the complaints. *tr
My 2007 civic hybrid is experiencing a problem with the ima. as i am driving, the battery charge will be reduced to zero or one bars. i drive with the flow of traffic and normally do not exceed 55 mph. this normally occurs within the first 15 minutes of driving my car. it is most noticeable when starting from a dead stop. the car accelerates extremely sluggishly and the rpm's reach around 4500 to approach the speed limit (50 mph). gas mileage when this occurs drops to about 20-25 mph. i have taken this car into the dealership for repairs on 4 separate occasions to get this repaired. the dealership has been unable to reproduce the problem and has made minimal attempts to try and repair the car. the only repair attempt made was to reset the computer in the car. this has accomplished nothing and the problem is still ongoing. this could become a much more serious problem when trying to make a left turn or when trying to merge. *tr
This is a notification of a defect before it becomes a failure which causes accident or loss of life. i have repeatedly returned my 2007 honda civic si sedan for service (4 times) for a defect in the front suspension which could cause strut failure. the problem is unresolved. internet research indicates many other owners (2006-07 model year) with the same problem. the consumer stated battery is dead if vehicle is not run for 5 or more days updated 12/12/07 *tr
Under humid conditions, the main battery of this hybrid suddenly drains, leaving the car without the electric motor. in this vehicle, this means that there is very limited torque (normally supplied by the electric motor). this first occurred in the summer of 2007 and has continued with increasing frequency to the present time. this brought to the attention of the selling dealership (southern motors of savannah) in august of 2007 and at the end of september of the same year. they claimed they could find nothing wrong despite being shown photographic evidence of the failure. the car was returned to the dealership on august 8, 2008 with further proof of the problem. the have claimed that they contacted american honda and were told that honda was aware of the problem but had found no solution. the car was returned to me on august 27, 2007 with the condition unresolved. *tr
When engine is warm and car is at idle (either when stopped at traffic light or when parking before shutdown) and you open/close sun roof and/or power windows the rpms dip, car shakes, and engine almost stalls before rpms recover to normal idle. this has happened at least two dozen times and started happening soon after taking delivery. at approx 400 miles car was taken into dealer and dealer was able to reproduce the problem on my vehicle and also reproduced the problem on other new civics on dealer lot. dealer reset pcm and performed idle relearn procedure. this did not resolve the problem. dealer reported to honda engineering and they had no knowledge of issue and offered no advice. additionally at approx 600 miles after car sat unused all day and when attempting to start later that night, the car did not start on first attempt. on second attempt and after cranking longer than usual for startup, the car started roughly with a jolt and ran rough (car shaking) for 3-5 seconds. *tr
I bought a brand new honda civic ex. the car seems to hesitate/freezes while driving at random times. sometimes when starting the car, sometimes while driving. obviously if i'm pulling into traffic and the car freezes this could become very dangerous. i took the car back to the dealer and contacted the manufacturer. they stated after 2 attempts to fix it that the car is fine and the symptom is a "normal characteristic of the vehicle." this being the case, i figure i should report this incident. *jb
Slow throttle response since purchase, door glass rattle since purchase, the third gear would give resistance, which is a known problem with the six speed transmission. i patched the problem by changing the transmission fluid and installing a shorter shifter yet this is not a permanent solution. honda has refused to repair the actual problem with the third gear synchro and at one point stated that it was probably caused by my driving, the problem with the vehicle going into third gear is a known problem and there is a technical service bulletin that honda corporate has released for the exact problem. the headliner rattles, door gasket seal has been coming off since purchase, suspension popping noise in the front passenger side strut since purchase and the sound has become more frequent, the driver side visor was defective and was replaced, the driver door hits the fender when opening just started happening since honda worked on my vehicle. i have been taking my vehicle to two different dealerships (recommended by honda corporate) and nothing has been properly repaired. i feel as though i have been given the run around for the past year. honda has made several attempts to repair the problems and has not been able to, they have only damaged my vehicle during their attempts to repair it. they have damaged the front bumper three times, the side of the vehicle once, the door and fender once. they of course denied any involvement in the damage, then repair it under warranty. *tr
Tl*-the contact stated that the 2007 honda civic lx was registering the wrong mileage on the odometer. the contact took the vehicle to the dealership, and was informed that there were problems with odometer. they informed her that there was a class action lawsuit going on, but her vehicle didn't apply. the lawsuit was for consumers with odometer problems. the contact felt that this vehicle should be part of the law suit. she stated that the odometer reading in the vehicle was 750 miles which was not accurate. *ak update 04/17/07 *tr
