The 2006 honda civic was a total loss at a minor accident. it has been disposed in the summer 2019. thank you, [xxx] my information is [xxx] if you need to verify or contact me. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 honda civic. while driving 70 mph with the cruise control activated, the cruise control deactivated automatically twice. the contact reactivated the cruise control each time. also, the air bag warning indicator illuminated and, soon after, the air bags deployed. there were no injuries. the contact lost control of the vehicle, but then regained control and pulled off the highway. the contact inspected the vehicle and found no visible damage other than a cracked windshield. the contact was able to drive the vehicle home. the dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failures. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 278,000.

I was told my car needs an inflator but that it is not covered under recall. why does this car have an airbag issue that is not covered? 802 honda, in montpelier vt has replaced the drivers seat belt buckle twice and each time the airbag light goes out but now they say it needs a right side airbag inflator in the seat which is not covered by the recall and they gave me a repair estimate (range) of $1,000 to $1,500. this is a safety issue and should therefore be covered by recall. additionally, there was a recall on the visors which fall into the line of sight when driving as a result of splitting apart which should also be covered but there was an expiration on that recall. the safety issue is the same regardless of whether the car is six years old or 16 and regardless of the mileage so this too should be covered by the manufacturer.

Takata recall: we have not heard back from honda regarding repair of our son's honda takata airbags. our case # is 08936577.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 honda civic. while driving approximately 15 mph, another vehicle accelerated through a red light and "t-boned" the contact's vehicle. the air bags did not deploy. a police report was not filed. there were minor injuries, which did not require medical attention. the dealer (martin honda (298 east cleveland ave, newark, delaware 19711, (302) 738-5200) was made aware of the failure. the contact mentioned that the vehicle was serviced in september of 2017 per an unknown takata recall. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 132,000.

Takata recall: i have had an airbag light on several times. i was told by the dealership it is an inflator code and i will have to pay for a $1,200 repair. on two occasions the seatbelt was replaced. somedays my light is on, others it is not. there is a recall and there is a technical bulletin but my car is "not impacted" that is untrue. it absolutely is. the vehicle is presenting the same codes as those in these bulletins and recalls and it should be repaired at honda's expense, not mine. furthermore, the driver side sun visor is broken but it was not repaired before the end date of the recall (i did not own it then) and now that i own it i am told it is not eligible. i contest, the issue is as much of a safety issue for myself and others on the road in 2018 as it was when it was issued. this too shoulde be replaced at honda's expenxe not my own. the airbag light goes on and off at will when moving, on city street or highway, turning or going straight. the sun visor does not go out of my line of sight as a result of the failure. this too happens anytime, any where, at any speed, and on any road.

Tl* takata recall. the contact owned a 2006 honda civic. while driving at an unknown speed, the contact crashed into a tree. the air bags deployed and metal fragments were ejected. a police report was filed. the vehicle was towed to a tow yard where it was deemed destroyed. the dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v346000 (air bags). the contact suffered brain damage due to the metal being embedded in the front teeth and skin. the contact also sustained a broken orbital, reconstructive surgery, neurological damage, two broken ribs, and a collapsed lung. medical attention was received. the failure mileage was approximately 190,000. *tt updated 11/27/18*jb

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 honda civic. when the contact sat down in the vehicle and closing the driver side door, the driver side air bag suddenly deployed without warning. during the incident, the vehicle was parked and the key was not inserted in the ignition switch. the contact suffered an injured neck, which required medical attention. the cause of the failure was not determined. the manufacturer and local dealer (harden honda in anaheim, ca) were notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 160,000.

As i was driving straight down rt 102 west bound in rhode island, in the left lane of a two land road in roughly the 30 - 40 mph range with my 7 month old toddler in the car seat in the back seat, the side air bags on the driver's side of the car deployed while the car was in motion for no apparent reason. my car was not in an accident and did not hit a pot hole or a bump in the road. it was a smooth drive up until i head a loud bang and was smacked in the side of the head while driving the car, when the side air bags deployed. my driver's side seat belt is locked up as well. i was left with a temporary red mark on my neck and a ringing in my ears. after 3 hours the hearing in my left ear has yet to return back to normal. i do not know why the driver's side airbags deployed or what component is the cause. this incident engaged my safety and the safety of my child.

Takata recall this recall has been active since may 23, 2016 and here we are nearing 12 months later and "remedy not available" language still being displayed.

The recall for the defective airbag was in may of 2016 but there is no remedy yet. what recourse do i have? i would rather have no airbag than one that might kill me.

Takata recall american honda motor co., inc. (honda) is recalling certain model year 2006-2011 honda civic vehicles. according to the equipment defect notifications (16e-042 and 16e-043) filed by takata, the propellant wafers in some of the subject inflators may degrade over time, which could lead to over-aggressive combustion in the event the airbag is activated. overly aggressive combustion creates excessive internal pressure when the inflator is activated, which may cause the inflator body to rupture. honda suggests that you avoid having a passenger sit in the front passenger's seat until the recall repair has been performed. there has not been an accident or crash, but i received a letter from my insurance company asking me to look to see if this car was affected by the recall. should i be replacing the airbags in this car? *tr

Takata recall any update on if a solution will become available and rolled out to dealerships soon?

Takata recall - first received notice of this recall in may of 2016. it is now coming up on january of 2017 (seven months latter) and i have not had any further communication about getting this defect corrected. when can i expect this to happen?

Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2006 honda civic. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v346000 (air bags). the part to do the repair was unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the contact had not experienced a failure. updated 02/16/17*lj

Takata recall: i was notified by honda in may/june of this year that there will be a remedy in the summer/fall of 2016, and i have not received any notification since then. this remedy is taken longer than expected, and it has become difficult as i am not allowed to have a passenger in the front seat with me.

Takata recall- i received a letter from honda july 2016 about the passenger side airbag having a defect/being recalled and needing to be replaced (recall was issued may 23, 2016(https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin/vinlookup)-so the notification about the recall took a few months alone). the solution given was to avoid having a passenger in the car. the letter stated that parts would be available late summer/fall of 2016. i called today, 10/28/2016 @ 09:06 est, speaking to a representative named [xxx] and was told they are still manufacturing parts and i would get a notice when they are available. as a family of 4, being told that there is something wrong with your car and recommended that you should not have a passenger in the front but they have no idea when your vehicle would be fixed is not acceptable. if they know there is an issue, they need to get it fixed in a timely fashion. if they have no idea when the parts are going to be made available then they need to provide an alternate vehicle until the recall can be fixed. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Takata recall. the recall notification was originally sent in may 2016. the manufacturer still has no remedy available. the online information says the initial letter will be followed up with a second and that the remedy was expected in late summer/fall. no remedy is currently available, and i am driving around with a potentially dangerous airbag. *tr

The notice i received from honda in july 2016 about the passenger frontal airbag, said the remedy parts would become available in late summer/fall 2016. i called the local dealership (ike honda) on october 19, 2016 and was told they would contact me when the part came in..."about a couple of weeks". i have heard nothing. my notice from honda directed me to contact you if i hadn't heard anything from american honda or the dealer within 60 days. in the meantime honda's advice is not to let anyone ride in the passenger seat...usually not an option.

Takata recall- first heard of this recall over 1 year ago, checked multiple times, no recall on my car, good, checked a 3rd time and noticed i suddenly had the recall on my passenger airbag- so it took them over a year to tell me that i had this airbag in my car. was not notified personally until 3 months after i found this on recalls.gov. have called honda to talk about this- they tell me that they cannot confirm or deny whether i have this in my drivers airbag, only that it is my passenger one- and it cannot be fixed until sept of 2016. i found this out in may of 2016. it is almost october (today is 9/19/16) and i contacted honda again- replacement part is still not available.

Takata recall i received a letter in july announcing the recall of my passenger side airbag. i immediately called the dealer, ocean honda of santa cruz, and they told me they would call me back when they had information. i received no call back and today called american honda where i was assigned a case number 04991690. they told me the dealer should have had access to the proper parts long before now and that i should contact ocean honda for further information. i left a telephone message at the service department during business hours and they never called me back.

Takata recall - i use this vehicle as a family car, it is now considered unsafe to have passengers in my front seat. as of now the parts are not available to make my car safe. this is unacceptable as the only option i have is to purchase another vehicle, or rent a vehicle, in order to safely transport my family. also, my vehicle has an engine recall that was not properly communicated to me (the second owner), which has now led to the potential for catastrophic engine failure.

Takata recall on august 19, 2016, we took our honda to the dealer to have the airbag inflator replaced under the recall. our dealer ran into a problem with a mounting bolt (apparently a bolt was cross-threaded and twisted off). a call to honda america confirmed the entire air bag would then have to be replaced. our dealer ordered the part that day. and has of this writing not yet received the air bag from honda america. our dealer gave us a loaner car for two months, but then took it back and gave us our car back, without a front passenger-side airbag, on october 31, with instructions to not put a passenger in the front seat. (in order to get my car back, i had to sign a statement on the work order saying i had refused a repair, but i was not offered a repair to refuse. i had to sign the work order or not get my car back.) just prior to the dealer calling and taking the loaner back, i wrote a letter to honda america about the delay in delivering the replacement airbag. i have received no reply. so it has been four and one-half months my car has been waiting on a replacement air bag. as far as i can tell, this is a problem with honda america; i believe my dealer has acted in good faith. attachments: - original recall notice - work order from my dealer - my letter to honda america

Takata recall - i've been dealing with honda's customer service department since the middle of june. both my boyfriend and i live together. we both drive the same car make and model but his is an '07. we both have recalls on our passenger airbags and we have a switch that indicates when nobody is the passenger seat it shuts off the airbag. unfortunately, both of our vehicles don't do that, the light never indicated that the airbag is shut off and that means that the airbag is still active. so in other words if we get hit, even though nobody is in the seat, our passenger airbags are going off. ive spoken to several people regarding this and even submitted photos. finally, they called me regarding alternate transportation on 8/15 but today, 8/16, my case manager yvonne, stated that i was denied alternate transportation. i love that honda thinks this is a game. in other words, my boyfriend and i are not going to take separate cars to the grocery store or when we go out of town. we carpool and i tried to explain that to the case manager and several people but i guess my boyfriend's life or my life don't really matter to them. my case manager yvonne, stated that she is ordering a part to fix my airbag light and i may have to pay out of pocket for this repair. i wonder when this will even come in by then my airbag may go off without warning or what if i get into an accident. below, i have submitted photos of my car while it's on and as you can see the light is off when it's supposed to be on.

We received a recall notice that the passenger air bag could inflate and that it could send out debris that could seriously harm the passenger. no solution was offered until honda can provide replacement parts. in the meantime, the notice said, do not allow anyone to sit in the passenger seat. that is unacceptable. honda should provide alternate means of transportation until the problem is fixed in our 2006 honda civic.

Nhtsa recall 16v-346: i received a letter from honda informing me of a safety recall involving the propellant wafers in the passenger side airbag of my vehicle that could cause injury to a vehicle occupant. honda is not offering to provide alternative transportation, the letter states that until parts are available to make a repair later in the summer i should not have anyone sit in the passenger seat. this is unacceptable. this is our family car, my young daughter sits in the back seat behind the passenger seat, we often have a second child in the back of the car, and a large dog. we can't possibly avoid using the passenger seat when the back seat is full, and our other car is too small to accommodate everyone. when i requested a rental car from my local dealership for the period until the repairs were made, it was denied. i contacted honda and had to submit a request for alternate transportation and was told a case worker would contact me in 2 weeks or so. i think this is all absurd. they are implying that an airbag recall on the passenger side is not as hazardous as one on the driver's side, and also that a reasonable solution is to just not use the passenger seat. this is not an acceptable response, and it has left my family in danger until the repairs can be made, whenever that will be. no estimated time line has been given.

Takata recall, propellant wafers degrade over time. see attached for details. i first received this safety recall notice in july 2016. i then contacted honda. the phone representative contacted herson's honda located in 15525 frederick rd, rockville, md 20855 and set up a phone appointment. when i spoke to herson's the poc told me that the replacement part is not available and dealership will contact me once it arrives. he also mentioned that it could take more than 90 days. as of today, i have not received any call from the dealership. i am not sure what is going on but i do not think honda is taking this safety issue seriously.

I received a passenger side air bag recall notice july 23, 2016. upon research, honda recall website states notices will go out june23? why was my notice not received until 30 days later? additionally- we are supposed to receive another notice "late july to august". and the notice says do not let anyone sit in the passenger seat until further notice? that is unacceptable! between car pool, taking kids to school, taking kids to sports practices- where are they all supposed to sit? if you cannot expedite repairs, parts, or the recall notice, a free rental should be available. the liability position you have just placed yourself in is absolutely traumatic. i have been hearing about tanaka air bags for over a year and all the associated injuries and deaths-- and we just now receive notification?? and now your telling us to wait more time for another notice? do people's lives not matter to you, honda, or tanaka? i hope this and other emails are used in court so complete a class action lawsuit against everyone involved. god forbid anything happen to my kids- and to rectify the issue, and save lives- you are simply saying "here is a late notice- oh ya, and we can't do anything but we'll let you know at a later time."

Tl* the contact owned a 2006 honda civic. while driving 60 mph on the freeway, the contact crashed into another vehicle. the air bags deployed. the contact sustained bruises and cuts on the legs, back, and right arm that required medical attention. the front passenger sustained bruises from the seat belt. the rear passenger sustained cuts to the forehead, a fracture on the front of his skull, and bruising in the brain and abdomen that required medical attention. a police report was filed. the vehicle was destroyed and towed to a tow lot. the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v346000 (air bags). the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 175,000.

Takata recall nhtsa recall # 16v-346 this is not a complaint against my honda dealership. rather, it is a query of the utmost importance. the dealership is due to replace the takata passenger air bag inflator on july 16. how will i be able to determine whether the replacement part is not defective and most importantly whether the installation was done correctly. thank you. Takata recall. we were recently notified of coverage in the airbag recall and received the instruction to avoid having a passenger sit in the front passenger's seat until the (currently unavailable) repaid has been performed. this caused me to notice that the "passenger airbag off" indicator was not illuminating even when the front passenger seat is empty. i am concerned that the dangerous defective airbag remains active even without a passenger there. i called the honda recall center and spoke with a supervisor, ms. vanessa robinson, who told me my only recourse was to bring my car in for servicing to a dealer at my own expense to have the airbag indicator checked. i think i can reasonably take the car's user display at face value, suggesting that there is an issue with the sensor causing the airbag to remain active, such that honda should provide an interim mechanism to address this problem as part of the recall. i am particularly concerned given that we used our 2006 honda civic in texas for many years, where i understand the climate increases the risk from the defective airbags. thank you, in advance, for your assistance. *tr
