The upper dash panel cracked. there is a large crack in the curved portion of the dash above the steering wheel and gauges. the vehicle has not been subject to any extreme temperature changes - it is always parked inside a garage. i went to drive the vehicle after it had been sitting unused for about a week noticed the crack right away as it is very noticeable. now, when driving there is a very audible rattling noise coming from the dash. aside from this being aesthetically and audibly hideous, i am worried that this is a safety hazard. if the vehicle were to be involved in a crash the cracked pieces of the dash could more easily injure someone. i also fear the cracked pieces that are rattling inside the dash could puncture the airbags and render them useless in the event of a crash. this is a manufacturing flaw. this should not have happened under the circumstances and care this vehicle receives.
A crack appeared on the front dash next to the passenger side airbag. the vehicle was stationary and cracked overnight. i'm concerned about the airbag working properly.
The dash has cracked all away the cross of the pad and now has cracked producing jagged plastic shards around the airbag compartment
On 12/27/18, i heard an excessive rattling noise coming from the dash. when i parked the car, and the vehicle was stationary, i leaned forward to see if there was something on the dash, and noticed the dash had cracked over the driver's side instrument panel / airbag. the dash also cracked over the left side above the glove box/airbag area. the crack was the source of the rattling. this vehicle is parked in a garage and has not been exposed to excessive sunlight. nor has the vehicle ever been in an accident.
As you're already aware of from several previous complaints, the dash board in our vehicle is cracked over the instrument panel, and is also cracked in the middle of the dash. it is spreading over the entire dash and compromised the airbag system, which is truly a hazard. i'm afraid to drive it. and, this is not a result of heat cracking the dashboard b/c we keep our car in the garage and hardly drive it during the week! this is definitely a defect with gmc and i don't know why they won't recall it!! even toyota has the same issue, except they offered a recall and allowed owners the opportunity to get the issue fixed. this is truly a safety hazard and i'm so disappointed in gmc. cheap and won't fix their manufacture mistake!!!
The dash board where the air bag is located cracked as well as the other side of the -dashboard near the instrument cluster. there are multiple reports online documenting the issue.
Dashboard on drivers side and dashboard above the airbag on passenger side are both cracked in two separate places without any applied pressure or exposure to harsh conditions. cracks continue to increase/lengthen when driven i.e. across tracks, bumps or on smooth surface roads.

Very large crack in the dashboard extending from passenger side air bag to the instrument panel. this is defect in design/construction and will affect passenger air bag effectiveness and safety of occupants if pieces of the dash are projected outwards at a high rate of speed. this is unacceptable. gmc needs to initiate a voluntary recall immediately.

The dash above the instrument panel is severely cracked and without any reason. there is also another crack in the center area. if air bag deployed not sure what could happen. car has always been kept out of extreme weather in a garage. i have owned other gmc yukons and have never had this problem before.
1) dashboard is cracking on the drivers side. the crack has progressed directly over the arched area of the dashboard over the instrument panel. the crack has progressed to the point that the dashboard is flapping where the crack is located. 2) two of my tires are losing air pressure due to corrosion problems with the chrome rims/wheels. one of the rims has a 2 inch crack in the chrome finish.
There are 3 cracks in the dashboard of my 2011 gmc yukon. one crack is near the left front corner of the passenger airbag. two cracks are located near the front right side of the instrument panel. i believe this is a defect in the materials and the gm should replace the dashboard free of charge. vehicle was stationary.
Found 2 cracks in my dashboard...this is not normal wear and tear. one crack above the instrument panel and one crack near the passenger airbag. i am very concerned about one deep crack by the airbag. is this safe? with the concern over the takata air bag issues and no possible way to remedy that at this time i am worried that this presents a safety hazard to my family. called gm and there is nothing they will do unless i want to purchase a new dashboard??? how can there be so many complaints with no action from gm?
My dashboard has 2 cracks in it. this began around 55,000 miles. one is above the airbag and the other is in the middle on top of the middle speaker. i purchased a $1500 easy care extended warranty when i purchased this vehicle to hopefully take care of anything that might have come up while paying on this vehicle. this warranty does not cover the dashboard. of course! i spent countless hours on the phone with the dealership, gmc senior advisors, and then the next in line to finally be told i was responsible for $300 plus tax for the repair. what upset me the most is the fact that gmc tried to blame wear and tear and the sun without accepting the responsibility of the defect. this should not be my responsibility to fix. what incentive do i have to ever buy gmc again when i am driving one of the top of the line vehicles which costs $65,000 and i'm told that it's not their fault that st 55,000 miles my dash is cracked and rattling and i'm driving around with paper stuffed in it to stifle the noise. so disgusted!!!!! the best they could do is that i pay $300 plus tax to fix. what an insult! last gmc vehicle. make it right with your customers when it's your fault!!
The dashboard on my 2011 yukon xl with only 52,000 miles on it. a couple of weeks ago my yukon dashboard cracked over the instrument panel and at the right passenger airbag. this dashboard has no support under it and i can push the dashboard down with my finger without applying any force. when the airbag deploys the dashboard will break off at the weak point breaking with pointed sharp areas that can either puncture the airbag or hit the passenger. this is a huge safety item. the dealership says that this cracked due to heat so i am now concerned that the faulty dashboard is cracking due to heat that the takata recall is a huge safety issue that also relates to heat in this vehicle. both of these items should be recalled.
This morning as i was driving, i heard a vibration sound coming from the dash. so i looked over & i find a crack! not 1 but 2! over the speedometer & by the passenger air bags. i'm scared its gonna affect the passenger airbags...

My dashboard has cracked from the air bag to the next sheet of plastic towards the windshield. i had this replaced once before when the car was under warranty and it has now happened again, almost a year later. i am concerned this will affect the airbag or cause the dashboard to splinter if the airbag it is deployed.

Multiple cracks in the dash, including one by the passenger airbag; truck has been garage kept for entire life, so it is not from sun damage. there are many complaints of the same issue online, and every time i ride in a lyft or uber yukon or tahoe that is a 2007-2014 model, i see the same cracks - this issue is prolific.

The dashboard has progressively being cracking for over a year. it has now become very bad in two areas. above the airbag on the passengers side and all around the housing above the odometers there are several long cracks. i am very concerned that the spreading rate will increase with pieces possibly creaking off and should an accident occur that shard's of plastic could injury passengers or my children. i have contact gmc and they have told me that they do not see any problem and that they would not address this situation. after reviewing the internet thoroughly it is very apparent that there is a defect problem and they do not wish to address. i am more than disappointed that gmc do not take this matter seriously.

Dashboard cracked 2 years after purchased. replaced by local dealership then cracked again 2 years later out of warranty. apparently the in stock replacements were of the same defective design as originals.
