Recently reported UNKNOWN OR OTHER problems on 2006 GMC Yukon

Known problem, brake failure due to rusted brake lines. nearly had a rear emd collision when they failed trying to stop at 50 mph. a large truck was disabled in the middle of the road. i swerved into the left lane, since i couldn stop.

The rear tailgate actuator quit working. the remote nor the key would unlock the rear tailgate. this quit working with no warning and no prior issues. also the remote controls have had to be re-keyed many times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and was the actuator originally replaced under warranty. i received a call from the dealer the next day stating the service adviser "made a mistake" and the $495.00 was in fact not under warranty. this would indeed have led to very an unfortunate ending had i been driving and/or with passengers and an incident occurred. now i read that many other gmc owners have been experiencing the same for months.

Broken, snapped off exhaust manifold bolts. cause lean condition, and service engine soon light to come on. *js

Bonddogbonddog august 2006 edited june 2015 in gmc i purchased my 2006 yukon last september 2005. i now have 24,000 miles on it. over the last month i have had it into the dealer three times for the same problem. the problem is that while driving the vehicle it will suddenly lose almost all power. the information center will display the messages: "stability control disabled", "engine power reduced". and the vehicle will not go over 20 mph on a level surface and bearly 3 mph up a moderately steep hill. each time i have had it into the dealer for repair they have beeen stumped by what the cause of the problem is. they said that gm/gmc told them that "gm is aware of the problem but does not have a fix for it at this time". how can a manufacturer sell a vehicle that has a defect and not have a fix for it? when the power goes out in a busy intersection or on a highway this is a major safety issue. has anyone else experienced this problem. thanks, [xxx] parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
