Was driving down a stretch of straight road in warrenton, virginia when i went to press the button that changes the display near the odometer from "odometer," "trip 1" miles, and "trip 2" miles. when i reached my hand bumped the ignition switch and everything in the vehicle shut off including the engine, power steering, and brakes. i had no control of the vehicle and it rolled to complete stop down the road we were driving on. once it came to a complete stop, i restarted the vehicle and everything seemed alright so continued driving, had it looked at, and was told everything was fine. i believe that the ignition switch issues affect the 2001 yukon xl 2500 and that it should be looked into further. *tr
My 2001 xl 2500 has had periodic problems starting and stalling at different times. the starting problem happens about 2 times as often as the stalling problem. they do not happen at the same time. usually, if it doesn't fire right up you have to wait about twenty seconds and try again. it usually starts the second or third time. the stalling problem is less detectable. it has happened about 4 times total. each time i was fortunate to be going under 30 miles per hour and able to compensate for the loss of power. i did not purchase this vehicle as new and do not know if prior owner experienced any problems. it had 30,000 miles on it when i purchased it in jan. 2002. *nm
