Tl* the contact owns a 2007 gmc yukon xl. while driving 35 mph, the steering wheel seized and the stabilitrak warning indicator illuminated. the contact first experienced the failure two years ago and took the vehicle to braeger chevrolet (4100 s 27th st, milwaukee, wi 53221). the dealer replaced the spark plugs, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired for the recent failure. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 185,000.

Stab, abs light and engine lights either going on one at a time or simultaneously. car wouldn't start & when it did all of the dashboard gauges were at "zero" car seemed off but drive-able--gas, mph, rpm, gas/oil gauges remained at zero while driving. later that day when car was restarted-the gauges were at normal readings. stabiltrack light keeps going on & off. electrical doesn't work well, almost every power door has failed & actuator has been replaced, rear back hatch door will not open & we have no access to our cargo/trunk area. keyless entry works occasionally. interior and exterior chrome handles have sharp edges.

While driving today at a speed of 55 mph in somewhat heavy traffic my service traction control and stabilitrack indicator came on as well as a message on the dash saying the same. at which time my vehicle came to slow down and i lost power. i pulled over and and shut the car down and upon restart noticed that not only did white smoke come from my exhaust but the car had a rough idle the same indicators were still on and the engine light had now come on as well and was flashing. i was able to make it home with a rough limp however when i came to a stop felt as though the car was hesitant to keep running or take off. when applying gas there was a thump from the rear wheels like the transmission was not sure how to engage.

My wife's 2007 yukon xl had a message that stated that the traction control was off and a reduction in power message while traveling on the interstate highway going 65 miles an hour during rush hour. when this message came on the yukon came to a very dangerous reduction in speed and was very close to getting rearended by the vehicles behind her. she was able to pull over to the shoulder and was able to restart the engine and the message reset but came back on soon after she got back up to speed and the truck shut down again. i have since replaced the throttle body assembly and checked all ground straps replaced the battery and have checked the harness. the issue has continued and since my vehicle is out of warranty it is getting very expensive to start replacing parts on the vehicle just to have it do the same thing. according to the dealership there are no recalls but there are several forums on line with people all over the united states that have the same problem with there gm products. this is a very serious safety issue that needs to be looked into, before somebody gets hurt or killed. gm needs to recall their products that are involved and repair them.- *tr
