On june 26,2010, i had a flat tire. i own a 2002 gmc envoy. luckily i was at home when i noticed i had a flat tire on the passenger side rear. i've changed flats before so i figured ok, i might as well get started. to my horror i discovered the hoist on the underside of the vehicle would not lower the spare tire. i could not believe this was happening. after trying for several hours underneath the vehicle i gave up. so my wife said call roadside assistance to help. i called them and they came to my home to assist. i had the vehicle jacked up and supported so the driver of the towtruck would take a look. unfortunately, there was nothing he could do either. this is now total frustration. after several hours of deliberation, i decided to go on the internet to find a fix for this problem. luckily, i found a forum of owners who had the same type of vehicle and who had experienced the same problems i had. their suggestion worked for me, however, the real problem still exists with hoist on the vehicle. in my opinion, this is a very severe problem whick requires a recall. gm made a huge gaffe with this one. *tr

I own a 2002 gmc envoy and brake lights just quit i checked bulbs, fuses and changed brake switch they still do not work. *jb

Gas smell both in and out of vehicle. within a couple of days gas would leak after car was driven. fuel pump leaked due to rusted pipe on fuel pump to fuel line. it is the only exposed steel fitting and sits on top of the gas tank where water and moisture can collect, which is then conducive to rusting. *tr

I was travelling at approximately 35mph and as i was heading toward a signal light when a van turned left in the opposite direction of travel. my vehicle's front end struck the van's passenger side door. air bags did not deploy upon impact although van's both frontal air bags did deploy.my face hit the steering wheel and knees hit the bottom of the dashboard. passenger was also bruised on knees

Dt: contact statesd the windshield wipers will not work except on high. the service dealer stated a bad air conditioning cycling switch caused the windshield wipers to fail. they stated the ignition switch module, windshield wiper module, and the air conditioning cycling switch needed to be replaced, and the computer program needed to be updated. the engine lost all power while driving; there were no warning lights or indication that there was any thing wrong with the vehicle. there was a recal 04v046000 on the windshield wiper motor, the recall was serviced, but the consumer stated the module was already broke. the vehicle will be serviced, but at consumer's expense. the consumer has already filed a complaint on the ignition switch module.*ak

I purchased my gmc envoy with 17,000 miles a year and a half ago. since purchase, my radio has had to be replaced twice because the cd player stops working. since the last time it was replaced which was about 6 months ago:my cd player has stopped working again. the delaer says that since my vehicle is out of warranty, i will have to buy a new radio. i do not understand this concept because the radio has a year warranty on it. this is ridculous because this will be the third radio and the car only has 45,000 miles. am i going to have to replace my radio every 15,000 miles? the type of radio that i have is a bose 6 disc in-dash cd radio. can you please help me? i have had so many problems with my dealership and this vehicle that i will never buy another one. i need some professional advice. thanks.*ak

When the vehicle is on for an extended about of time (more than one hour) the surface of the radio gets extremely hot and has burnt my fingers. i confronted the dealership and they simply said to turn down the interior lighting (which was an insult). by surface i do not mean the buttons, but the surface around the buttons which is easily accessible. numerous times i have reached down to adjust the radio and, while keeping my eyes on the road, touched the surface of the radio next to the buttons. this then made me jump at which time i easily could have lost control of the vehicle. this happens every time i drive the vehicle, this is why the number of failures is 800. *ak

In oct. 2003, i was driving to work in rush hour traffic and upon coming to a traffic light my envoy stalled out and instrument panel went blank; car would not restart & message displayed to service engine & contact onstar, i was unable to get envoy off of road & sat there for 45 minutes waiting for tow truck to tow vehicle to royal oldsmobile where they said they replaced computer system; since that time in jan 2004 vehicle was in garage & would not start; vehicle was pushed out of garage & battery was recharged with jumper cables; vehicle was taken to royal oldsmobile & i was told that battery was leaking & that they had replaced battery; this vehicle has been the most unreliable vehicle i have ever had; i am leasing this envoy & i am afraid it will stall out again; also last summer without warning, the air conditioning just quit working while driving on vacation; after envoy was cut off & engine cooled, then air conditioning started working again; this is a leased vehicle & i want to know who i can talk to about turning vehicle in early & also what information is available about envoy stalling out without warning. *jb

The jack on the 2002 gmc envoy 4x4 is not adequate for the vehicle. it has to be placed in a very limited number of locations under the vehicle, and will not work at all unless the pavement is absolutely flat (no cracks in the cement!). my vehicle was sold new with skid plates for off-roading, but the jack is totally unusable on a dirt surface and it sometimes even on pavement won't jack the vehicle high enough to get the tire off the ground.*ak

When vehicle is at a 1/4 tank or less, and gas is applied, vehicle will not accelerate. the dealership replaced the main computer chip. please provide more details. ts

My air conditioner worked fine for one week and after that it takes times when it will cut off and only blows out hot air. sometimes you can drive for about 30 minutes and it will cut off and other times it takes longer. the fan still blows, but as i say it only throws out hot air. you can stop and cut the engine off and restart the vehicle and sometime it will make it run right again. i have had it at the chevrolet company to be worked on twice and they finally told me the second time after keeping it for a week and a half that they could not fix it because they didn't know how. they told me they were waiting for gm to let them know what to do or send them a computer chip to place in my computer that would make it work, i think this is unsatisfactory because i called gm and they said that they new nothing about the problem. i spoke with cory jackson at gmc customer assistance center and he is the one who gave me this address to send in a complaint. could you please let me know if there is a problem and if so when do you expect to have it corrected.*ak
