My car has been leaking inside due to manufacturer defect with the seal of the windshield and in top and causing electrical issues for car one example transmission control module and etc
Takata recall it keeps shutting completely down in the middle of highway and this affects everything steering, complete loss of power to vehicle. no codes to indicate something is wrong !!!! extremely dangerous this has continued to occur even after parts have been replaced brand new. more than 5 times already. this will most certainly lead to death. i have 3 children with me at all times. that's 4 lives that could be lost because of this problem!!!! . we have been extremely lucky because it has shift down in the middle of the night and bridges where there is nowhere to get on the side but remain in the lanes where traffic is 70 mph and up!!!! this needs to be recalled immediately!!!! *tr
The timing chain broke which in turn broke the engine as well. it happened as i was exiting the highway, it just stalled and would not start again.
While driving on the freeway the engine locked in the middle lane of busy traffic
I bought my 2008 gmc acadia and not long after the check engine light came on. it was the timing chain. i had the chevy dealership replace it which was almost $3000.00. about a year and a half later it has gone out again. and i can't afford another $3000.00. now it's just sitting. very up set about this.
Check engine light came on due to jumped timing 3 days after we had purchased the vehicle from a dealership and a little over a year later it had jumped timing again so now i have to come up with 800 to tear down the motor so they can properly diagnose it. so i do not have the money for that so now i am stuck with a vehicle that i am paying for and cannot drive. it is sitting in my driveway as we speak. the vehicle was in the driveway and we were getting ready to leave when it happened. both times. the dates it happened were 1/5/2018 with 137000 miles on it and the other date was 2/5/2019 and it has 152045 miles on it.
This has been the most unsafe car i have ever owned. i can not even trade it in the get a safer car. we have come so close to having many accidents with this car. the steering just freezes up the engine will just shut down will driving. we have had the transmission replaced once and not it needs replaced again. we are not hard on our cars..i just hope it does not come down to having a accident before someone sees how bad this car is.. this happens off and on all the time hard to put the dates and times down when this happens, we take into a dealer and it does not happen with them or the cost is just crazy.
The vehicle is having issues with transmission, there is a recall on other vehicles of the same make and model in a large range of years. the recall is a transmission solenoid. however because under the vin number it does not show there is a recall this will not be fixed free by dealership. this is very dangerous because it happens randomly while driving.
My traction control and service stabilitrak light keeps coming on. now my check engine light came on and says camshaft sensor. i took to a mechanic and they said that i need a new motor.
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 gmc acadia. while driving 25 mph, the check engine indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that the cam shaft needed to be replaced. the contact was also informed by another independent mechanic that the entire engine needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 142,293.
While accelerating i've noticed my vehicle has some type of wave plate issue but it seems common for these vehicles. it jerks and shakes and it's not safe.
On 4 separate occasions within a 3 week period the vehicle would accelerate while driving without driver prompts or control (rpms revved from 2000 to over 6000 and speed would increase from 50 mph to over 85 mph with accelerator pegged to the floor.) the only way to correct this was to put the vehicle in neutral, coast to the side of the road, stop the vehicle and turn off the engine for 10-15 minutes, then restart it and it would run normally for short periods of time. if i drove the vehicle for more than 30 minutes at a time it would react this way every time and nearly caused me to hit 2 vehicles on the interstate. on one occasion i had to impact a guardrail to slow the vehicle down. i took the vehicle to a certified gmc dealership who stated on both occasions they could not repeat the problem after driving it for 5-10 minutes or less than 15 miles. when i informed them that it only occurred after 30-45 minutes of driving, the technician stated he didn't have time to drive the vehicle that length of time or distance and went on to say no diagnostic codes were tripped so there wasn't any repairs he could do or that gmc would authorized. the vehicle was under warranty. i researched this problem online at www.carcomplaints.com and found over 25 similar issues and complaints from other owners of the same year make and model. two of which resulted in a crash with serious injuries to the occupants. i was forced to sell this vehicle at a 2554.00 loss and will now be filing a class action lawsuit against gmc and the service dealership i dealt with after i compile the required evidence from the other 25 owners with the same problems. i find it hard to believe that you would allow this to continue knowing full well injuries had been reported to nhtsa in previous complaints. i may include nhtsa in my class action lawsuit if my attorneys think it to be a good idea.
The timing chain is going bad for no reason, and i know is not olthe only one, a friend of mine has the same truck with the same problem for no reason as well... i was on my way to school and the truck lost the power and didn't come back so, i had to call the tow truck and take it to the shop where they told me that the time chain was bad. i would really appreciate that you do some research and help me and other people who has the same truck as me.
2008 gmc acadia with 140,000 miles ran fine on saturday 11/24/18. no noise, no issues, no warning lights. monday 11/26/18, engine would turn over, but not crank. again, no noise, etc. had towed to a local gmc dealership that has completed all work and maintenance on car. results=? broken timing chain. ???? there was a recall on 2007 and 2009 gmc acadia's. if there was assistance with 2007 and 2009, how could they not have sca/recall for 2008. it is obvious that the problem was not corrected in 2007 or they would not have had to include 2009. gmc needs to step up to the plate. we have had multiple engine issues with this 2008 gmc acadia. please advise
There is a recall on the convertrr post that causes the engine to seize up and pull to go into the engine.. when started nothing comes out of the exhaust pipes as they are clogged making it dangerous to operate.. the recall ignoramus this year, make and model for the same problem however after contacting gmc repeatedly they say that it doesn't include this exact vin..i have already had the engine replaced once due to this problem and ther dealer failed to diagnose it properly and acknowledge that it had the same problem as the recall in other vehicles ofthe same make and model... the vehicle sizes up at any rate of speed and the exhaust is clogged making the vehicle dangerous to operate
Since i bought the truck the i get an on and off message to service the air bag. also while i am driving the truck over heats and when i come tona stop and turn the engine off and completely remive the key. the engine stays on and water pump starts to buble as if the water was boiling and after about five minutes there is no water in the pump and when you add water the water get extremely hot. i have seen in other forums where all have had the same issue. i am extremely disappointed in the quality of the vehicle. i have four small children and don't feel safe however the truck is financed and i have no option.
The vehicle turns off abruptly while driving. the vehicle as turned off in a parked-idling position, rolling at five mph, and even between 60-70 mph. most of the time when the car shuts down, you are not able to restart the car without removing the key out of the ignition and inserting it to the on position cycling that motion four to five times. i have researched and spoken to other owners with the same make, model, and year as i have and they are dealing with the same issue. i am certain i am not the only complaint regarding this issue. i am worried about the safety for my family and myself because as mentioned before, this happens at random. there should be some kind of recall for this issue, however there is not. any help would be greatly appreciated.
This is the 3rd time happening. driving normally engine light comes on and engine doesn't change gears it stays on 1st gear i have to pull over. turn the car off and turn it back on a few times and tried to drive to see if it starts changing gears again until i can get to auto shop / dealer. they check the car with computer gives code p0700 , they have been trying to find out whats the issue with the car. everywhere we look up online tons of people with the same situation . gmc is a big company they need to make a recall on transmission this is insane how many problems acadia from 2007 till 2009 have been having . worst part is certain cars get called to gm defect programs others dont. please make a recall i was with my baby in the car in the middle of the highway going 30 mph !
Transmission problem i am being told...no warning signs! stopped at a red light and went to accelerate and acadia would not go faster than 25 mph! now i am being told i need a new transmission at 95000 miles gmc is a joke! will never own another one!
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 gmc acadia. while driving various speeds, the "reduced engine power" indicator illuminated without warning. the contact stated that the vehicle's speed was reduced to 20 mph and the vehicle stalled. the contact was able to restart the vehicle after approximately 15 minutes. quirk auto of bangor, maine (295 hogan rd, 04401) was made aware of the failure, but the source of the failure could not be determined. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 95,000.
When travelling home on the highway after school shopping with my two children my vehicle suddenly reduced power, became uncontrollable and wouldn't allow me to get out of the way of the rapidly approaching vehicles behind me in time. i was able to get to the shoulder, after the reduced engine alert appeared. stabiltrak was also disabled and one more feature i cannot remember. i had to shut my vehicle down and sit with two children in the car waiting for the car to somehow right itself. after 10 minutes i tried turning it on and the errors were gone and the car drove again, except rough. i took it to the local auto store and the diagnosed it with the code reader as tac. throttle body. the person at the counter said they see this all the time with this vehicle. in fact, it should be a recall since it's so common and a clear flaw in the design. to the tune of $199 you can replace the part and have the same thing happen all over again at some other random, unsafe time! thank you gm for yet another unreliable family vehicle. i will have no choice, but to replace the part, as this is the car used for every day transportation in my household to school, work and back. researching the internet horror stories can be found everywhere. it seems tragedy has to happen to make this $200 part a recall. please redesign and replace. this mom cares for her kids.
When i accelerate and get to 40 mph the car begins to shake randomly, intermittently. then the service engine light came on, then the traction control shut off and the light to service traction control came on then the car drop the speed from 60 mph to 10-20 mph! when i tried to accelerate it did nothing ! the speed wouldn't increase at all then it started running fine and then a few miles down the road it did the same thing, dropped speed from 60 to 10-20 mph! i pulled over and shut the car off and when i restarted it the same lights were on and when i tried pulling away it would only go up to 10-20 mph for a few miles then it got up to 60 mph for a few miles just to drop again! i had my 11 month old grandson in the car that was dangerous! i was on townline road and manito blacktop that are very high traffic
Timing chain was replaced about 3,000 miles ago. check engine light appeared just minutes before exiting onto the highway. i accelerated to a maximum of 45mph before the engine started to "putt" and then i thought the transmission went out on the vehicle, the rpm skyrocketed, i slowed the vehicle down to pull over and it started smoking / steaming and oil and water were spewing out all over the vehicle. i thought it was on fire. several passers-by noticed and called police reporting that my vehicle was on fire, i called a tow truck. got a ride to work. towed to the dealer / service center who replaced timing chain. they said the engine is shot. 2 pistons fell out. class action lawsuit needs to occur on this vehicle. it is a pile of junk to fix and extremely unsafe. timing chain and transmission problems. engine problems. unrecalled, defective timing chains in these gmc acadia's cause catastrophic permanent unsafe engine damage. gmc will not recall unless they are forced to, due to the cost of replacing the entire engine after the timing chain failures. i thought the vehicle was going to explode when i pulled over when the engine failed; i jumped out and backed away to a safe distance. scariest driving moment i've ever experience. a class action needs to occur in order for them to do something about this once and for all.
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 gmc acadia. while driving various speeds, the electronic stability control, traction control, and abs warning indicators illuminated. the contact stated that the electronic stability control malfunctioned and caused the vehicle to operate in the four wheel drive mode. four by four center in essex, vermont was made aware of the failure and stated that there was a timing chain failure that was common in that type of vehicle. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 115,000.
I purchased a used 2008 gmc acadia in may 2017 ever since i purchased this vehicle i have had nothing but problems i purchased this vehicle because my daughter is a senior in high school and i knew that we would be needing it to travel from state to state for college tours. every since i purchased we have not been able to travel because of the continuous light to come on, continuous codes that comes on and it causes the car to run horribly i am spending $20-$30 a day on gas and i'm also noticing that the oil is just evaporating but i'm not seeing it on the ground i continue to take it to the mechanic he continue to fix things that the codes gives him. i'm still spending money and i'm still not getting any results i have not been able to travel in this vehicle because i refuse to get on the highway with my child and breakdown in the middle of nowhere. what we need to do is start a petition with gmc because if everyone is having these problems then it is a serious problem i am to the point where i am ready to start a lawsuit. i mean let's be honest what are we waiting for either us or one of our loved ones to die and is known death trap. there are so many recalls on this vehicle that all of them should be just called in and repaired apparently it's a problem with gmc assembling the vehicle and they do not want to own up to their responsibilities and it's not fair to us that i lives are at stake.
Happened 2x already. vehicle is in motion high rate of speed 55 to 75 mph, engine light comes on and vehicle starts to slow down drastically on its own. eventually the engine shuts off loosing all power and power steering. happened once on highway and once on a major busy road. if you try to accelerate there is no power. the vehicle eventually stalls without warning. once i could not even tell the engine stopped because the dash board lights still worked. pulled over, wait 10 to 15 minutes and then try to start vehicle. it will start and everything seems normal again. each time this happened i had my 3 kids in car. not safe at all. took it to dealer and they have no clue. said it may have something to do with transmission.
Approximately 3 weeks ago, my 2008 gmc acadia was serviced at 140,000 miles for worn out timing chains. now, i am looking at problems with my transmission. how convenient. within three weeks this vehicle has failed on me. the timing chains were rattling in turns when it was taken into the dealership and the problem was discovered. i actually visited and left the dealership several times before the problem was diagnosed, so i was riding around with a faulty part in my engine. the transmission went out after i had exited the interstate at which point i could not accelerate more than 10 mph. good thing i was not on the interstate when it decided to stall out on me as i can only imagine how disastrous that would have been. the 2007 and 2009 gmc models were recalled for timing chain issues, never the 2008 model. the transmission problem is related to the 3-5-r wave plate, which had a 20,000 mile extension from gm to cover the repair if this broke, which of course i am out of, thus the repair costs for both defects are my problem. i do not understand how they will not back their products knowing that they are faulty. gm needs to step up and man up to the fact they have inferior products inside these engines and transmissions.
I have a 2008 acadia which is equipped with a timing chain that has been known by general motors to prematurely stretch and fail, and which can cause serious damage to other engine components, as well as activate certain sensors either prematurely or not at all. your engine and key components and crankshafts and sensors rely on the timing chain in order to function properly. when you're driving in your vehicle and the timing chain gets stretched, the check engine light flashes on, the engine and transmission will power down and shut off, a loud buzzing sound will occur and hope to god you are not on the highway, because general motors knows about the defect but still will not issue a recall on the prematurely stretched timing chains due to the extensive cost of repair. they have extended warranty coverage on certain similar models in 2007 and 2009, and have offer full replacement of the timing chain up to 10 years and 120,000 miles, but despite the same issue occurring in vehicles made in 2008 with the same defects, they have denied my service request. this a very costly and extremely unsafe condition to drive the vehicle in. it is terrifying when your engine misfires and powers down, and your warning lights flash with a loud buzzing alarm sound blaring through the speakers. the traction control, stabilitrak system, and airbag sensors are all adversely affected by the defective timing chain as well, and the manufacturer is well aware of this defect and unfortunately will probably not be held responsible until someone is killed in an accident as a result of a defective timing chain. i'm so disappointed in this vehicle and the lack of accountability through the manufacturer. they know it's a problem. they are aware of the defect. they even extended coverage to replace up until a certain point, but beyond that, they do not care.
I'm having transmission problems diagnosed by two different mechanics. i found that gmc announced a technical service bulletin for this specific repair. however, i was told gmc might not cover the cost of repairs because the problem is "too new," so i have to continue to drive my car -- with the problem -- until it becomes severe enough for a proper code to come up on diagnostics. this makes me feel very unsafe and angry. *tr
I purchased a 2008 acadia in november 2016. the seller stated that they had to order a airbag and replace the old one. alone with the seat belt. i didn't get the car until a month later. when i got the acadia it was making some whining noise, wouldn't crank back up, rattle and clatter, dragging in the transmission like driving in a certain gears, noisy in neutral. airbag, seatbelt and stability traction control light continue to come on. needed a alternator and now the engine gone. i been having problem's with the car since i got it, and it been only 13th months. we were driving twice and the vehicle shut down on us on the in-state. we had to get it pull back home. several times driving on the main highway and street it wouldn't go in great. i don't photos at this time. i would have to wait until tomorrow, to go outside and take pictures. when i got the vehicle the left driving side tire light continue to come on, still having problem's with changing the tires left back and right front. don't know how many miles was on there. i tried to place an x n the seat belt and unknown other space, but it wouldn't let me. *js
Takata recall. i purchased the car in 2012 and in 2014 i noticed the antifreeze was low. i filled it with dexcool and watched it. over the past few years the car has been in close to 20 times because the coolant is low. recently i noticed the car had a class iii leak of dexcool coming from the front right wheel area, i took it and they said it was the pressure release and i had overfilled it. yesterday while driving on the autobahn in speeds of 90+ mph the battery level dropped all the lights came on and the right front engine area was steaming. i have taken to another mechanic and i am still waiting to hear what is wrong. the car has been to many gmc dealers each saying that they have seen the problem but aren't able to find the problem. none of the lights were on and the car has never overheated even yesterday the temp was still normal. there is now a puddle of dexcool where the car is parked at the shop and because i am stationed in germany now and can't take it to another dealership. *tr
I noticed a leak in my driveway under my 2008 acadia. i immediately took it to dealership so they could find out where it was leaking. they found the engine leaking in several places including the front cover. in addition to the engine leaking, they also found the water pump to be leaking and in need of being replaced. while putting new seals in the engine, they found that the timing chains were showing signs of wear as well. all in all, the car needed several seals replaced, the timing chains replaced, the water pump replaced, and the power steering pump replaced. the car only has 73000 miles on it!
While driving at interstate speeds in 90+ degree weather, the 2008 gmc acadia experienced a complete loss of power. engine quit along with all electronics, power steering and power brakes. let car sit for 20 minutes and it started up and drove fine for a week or so then the same issue occurred again. this has happened 3 times within 5 weeks. the vehicle has been into an independent mechanic and two dealerships. of those dealerships, we have taken the vehicle to the local autonation gmc dealer 3 times over the course of 2 weeks and all groups who have looked at the vehicle stated that they could not find and "codes" after running the computer diagnostics. we have requested an on-board diagnostic computer to be ordered from autonation gmc park meadows (co) but have received no response. this is a very dangerous issue while driving at highway and interstate speeds. have researched other consumers with the same situation on the nhtsa website.
Purchased new, have had the following problems 2011 :water pump failed, and engine oil leak new pump and gaskets,2012: oil pressure sensor replaced, 2013: wave plate broken sent metal through transmission major transmission repair, front and rear a/c failed and needed replacement. 2014: master cylinder leaking - replaced. 2016: purge solenoid stuck open was replaced, oil leak- timing cover leaking (did not replace- too expensive)- multiple calls to gmc and dealing with the dealer not satisfied and feel the car is a safety risk.
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 gmc acadia. the contact noticed one arm was fractured on the liftgate. the contact's daughter sustained injuries to the hand, but did not require medical attention. the dealer diagnosed that the arms needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. in addition, the contact stated that the vehicle failed to operate. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the cause of the failure was undetermined. in addition, the side air bag warning indicator illuminated contiuously. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 15v415000 (structure) and 14v118000 (air bags). the failure mileage was unknown.
My wife was driving down the highway and the car suddenly would not go on a high volume highway. it turns out the transmission solenoid block went bad. i have looked into it and there has been many complaints of same year, model, and make. my wife and children were in the car and wereally very distraught.if there is so many complaints on this vehicle for the same very expensive problem, why not recall. $4000.00.
While driving the vehicle at a normal speed (55) on a highway, a dinging sound comes on and the car goes into reduced power mode, losing speed. the stabilitrak and the traction control warning comes on. this makes it difficult to cross traffic at intersections as the car will barely accelerate. there is no warning that this is going to happen. also, the cars behind you do not know why you are slowing down. then when you turn the car off and restart it, the lights go off and the car drives fine. after three trips to the gmc dealer, the throttle body was determined to be the problem. gmc has issued special circumstances warranty on the 2007 & the 2009 but not the 2008. i do not feel that the warranty is sufficient. i do not understand why there is not a recall because after searching the forums, i have found that there are numerous complaints with this happening. i had my grandkids in the car with me and we could have been hurt when we had the sudden loss of power we experienced.
I made a previous complaint filed here under nhtsa id number: 10765088. the local garber gmc dealership sealed the sunroof and cleaned the clogged hoses that drain water from the roof. they also replaced the passenger side airbag for a total of $600. they gave a guarantee that there would be no more leaks. on november 18 the car began leaking from the front passenger side airbag area and water poured from the roof onto the glove compartment when i made a full stop. currently awaiting a return call from the service manager of gmc dealer. i have video of the problem. i was driving in the rain from one college campus location to another, in other words many stop and go and side streets at 30 mph or less. the car made squealing noises as well which happened last time too (september of this year).
Driving car on freeway and it caught on fire, no previous issues that would cause the fire. front of car and engine compartment caught on fire....updated 01/25/16 *bf
In 2010 i noticed an oil leak from the front of engine. after seeing the notice on the internet about oil leaks can cause engine fires i became concerned. please advise! thanks!!!
Oil changes at dealer performed every 3k miles. at 88k miles, shortly after drive train warranty expired. the check engine light appeared. full diagnostics performed by local dealer stated timing chain buffers were beginning to fail. est cost $3500. advised that since the light comes on/off intermittently, okay to wait to see if problem worsens, which may be many years, if ever. at 92k miles, while on highway, the transmission wouldn't shift gears, rpm's climbed, pulled over vehicle where it stalled and wouldn't restart. vehicle towed to dealer, where tested and determined that engine needs replacement due to loud metalic engine noise and metal shavings in oil. estimated repairs from two gmc dealers of $6600 to $7600 for re-manufactured engine. local dealers have stated that timing chain buffers is a very common problem with 2008 gmc acadia and vehicle should be recalled, but is not due to the cost of engine replacement. contacted gmc (belva - senior case analyst) to describe case and they responded that they will not assist in the repairs because: 1) vehicle was purchased used - stating that all such purchases are 'as-is' from dealer and its up to the consumer to do due-dilegence before purchasing, 2) vehicle power train warranty expired by date shortly before purchase, and 3) power train warranty is now 3 years past the date, regardless of when issue first appeared. gmc senior advisor also stated the she recently purchased a used gm product, and the engine failed shortly afterward at 100k miles, and gm will not assist her either, as that is also out of the date range of the power train warranty. engine was manufactured in the k-gm (saint catharines, ontario) plant.
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 gmc acadia. the contact stated that oil was leaking from the front of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the oil was leaking from the timing chain cover. the timing chain cover needed to be resealed, but the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 105,000. updated 04/08/16*lj
Bought vehicle with only 23k miles on it, transmission started acting up within 6 months of driving it, taken to a dealer, said nothing wrong, another year later got worse, took it in to a different dealer, nothing wrong, 6 months later took it in before going on vacation, nothing wrong, but had problems while on vacation, 6 months later, 1,500 miles away from home on vacation, driving down a 75 mile an hour speed limit divided highway, transmission went out with no warning, no dash warning, took in to a transmission dealer (since we couldn't get into a dealer) and said we wouldn't make it home the way it was. 5 grand later and a mess of a vacation later we were on our way home. less than 3 months later, tighten gas cap light on dash, check tire pressure light on and check engine light on. found out online that this model and make and year had numerous issues with transmission, don't understand how there was no recall and how gm got away with it. oh, and we were under extended warranty in the beginning where they said nothing wrong, and as soon as warranty was expired, boom! transmission had to be fixed! transmission dealer said the damage was from a cheap 15.00 part that caused us to have to spend 5 grand while on vacation. we have all shop paperwork showing the paper trail what we tried to get fixed.
At 96,000 miles my transmission went out completely. i had to replace it, and it cost me over $2500k this is insane.....and they are known for the 2008 transmission failures. the dealer refused to help in any way....
I was driving on i5 to north from california and the car stop working just like that!!! i just feel a big push and the stop working
My transmission went out on my car at 84,400 miles.
Engine block developed a crack that allows coolant to seep through block.
My 2008 acadia is now on it's 4th thermostat. i'm about to send it in to have it replaced. my suv keeps overheating. so far i have replaced the radiator, thermostat, and stability track. is there any one else who has this problem?
I was driving the vehicle and it puttered in the middle of intersection as i was turning which is a busy street. it slowed down drastically on its own. which caused my children to swing forward and back in there seat. my children were in the car it was very scary. this is not safe!!! according to gmc service the timing chain did not break, was stretched to the extent that the remote start would not work along with codes being set. would like to know the real reason for such premature failure and what if any actions are being taken to remedy this. there has to be more than just putting a new chain on and crossing your fingers.really do not buy into the theory of dirty oil causing it,maybe lack of oil resulting from poor design. i get my oil chain faithfully and maintenance done. this is not safe at all. i have a sick child that needs to get to dr appts this needs to be fixed. there was a recall for 2007 and 2009 models which gmc fixed. my 2008 should be fixed in the recall also. *tr
2008 gmc acadia with slightly under 53,000 miles. was driving across town and the transmission started to shift unexpectedly as if slipping out of gear and the engine going to high revolutions. check engine light came on. vehicle stopped for awhile, restarted, began heading towards dealership. acceleration completely failed and vehicle rolled to a stop with inability to go forward or in reverse. vehicle towed to gm dealership. been informed that the clutch broke and spread metal bits across the transmission. transmission must be replaced even though vehicle only has 53,000 miles on it. complaint also filed with gm customer care requesting financial assistance with the prohibitive cost of premature repair. *tr
