I had to, replace the transmission.. driving on city street car would not accelerate although rpm needle showed motor revving now waiting on stability control module thats on back order
I turned the car off and it displays a message 'shift to park,' even though the car is in park. it doesn't allow the car to shut off completely. the engine turns off, but the electrical stays on. when we try to drive it, it is slow to accelerate and the rpms shoot to 4 and don't go down unless breaking. finally the car will not accelerate past 55mph and the rpms stay at 4, with the engine being very noisy. this left us stranded an hour from our house because the vehicle is not safe to drive. fortunately this occurred in a parking lot. we drove a few miles to try to get to our dealership, but did not feel safe driving.
2017 gmc acadia would issue a warning saying vehicle failed to shift to park even though the vehicle was in park. this vehicle defect is known by gmc and their dealerships. a lawsuit is currently pending regarding this issue. gmc has failed to issue a recall and has failed to resolve the issue. we took our vehicle to the local gmc dealership august 2018 due to the issue. the issue started again in november 2019. when we called about it, they said the prior work wasn't covered and we would have to pay to have the "known defect" repaired again.
2018 gmc acadia park issue.the vehicle keeps saying "shift to park" when parked. can not shut the vehicle off or lock the doors. the dash stays lit up. always have to run through the gears several times taking up to 15 minutes to get into park.
Purchased new 2020 gmc acadia denali in dec 2019. vehicle was equipped with several dealer accessories include roof rail cross-beams. these were not in stock at time of purchase and returned after 1 week to install. after picking up the vehicle on my drive home, i heard a whistling/humming noise coming from the exterior at about 30 mph. as i entered the highway and traveling at 65 mph, the noise was deafening and the vehicle did not handle very well, vibration in the steering. i immediately returned to the dealer and determined the noise was from the roof rail cross-beams. service team that there could be some noise but it would not affect the vehicle handling. i had them removed and the drive home had no issues. buyer beware if you are only getting the cross-beams as an added accessory and will not utilize to carry any items, ie; kayak, bikes, etc.
While driving or not the car has a display on screen on odometer of park assist off no code comes up other then this on display on odometer.
Gmc acadia is placed in "park," clearly shown on the dash board with the "p" highlighted red. when the power button is pressed, a "shift to park" alert pops up and will not allow me to leave the car. this caused me to be late to work this morning. then tonight, after working a 12 hour shift at the hospital on thanksgiving, i had to sit in my garage for 20 minutes trying to turn my vehicle off.
When the car is shifted into park, it often does not show that it is in park. it will roll, the lights will not go off, doors will not lock. to get it to work, you must restart the car and move the shifter in and out of the park position. while you are doing this the car will continue to roll with the brakes depressed. the service writer at the dealer stated that this is a common problem with this model. this has happened at least 10 times.
When you put the car into park the computer does not recognize that it is in park, you may have to restart and re-put the car back into park several times, also the light will not go off, the doors will not lock, the battery will run down and the car will roll. the vehicle was in a full parking lot.
My 2018 gmc acadia denali will not register that it is in park and therefore you cant turn off the electrical even after exiting the vehicle. also it will roll away as i found out this morning as i was trying to get help from the dealeship.
