We have classified the 6 complaints from 2000 Ford Windstar about EQUIPMENT into the following categories.
A/c system was found to be totally low on freon. after replacing freon, it was observed that the rear ac low pressure pipe had a leak located next to the rear driver's side wheel. there was nothing in this area that would have caused this pipe leak to occur, such as another pipe rubbing against it or other form of friction. it is assumed that the pipe was structurally defective. *tr
This is the second time in 3 years i have to replace my tailgate window for my 2000 ford windstar. 2007 july, it just shattered without any sign/ warning when i was on my trip to the provincial park. i replaced it thinking about i may be the 'lucky one'! last night again on my way to ottawa around kingston on hwy 401, it started from the wiper/ brake light area and shattered. my daughter was so afraid because she was seating at the back 2 times in a row!! i was questioning about the occurance and frequency??? i have to pay $400 for each replacement!! *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2000 ford windstar. upon starting the vehicle, the contact heard a clicking noise from the center of the instrument panel. after a few minutes, the clicking noise stopped. prior to the failure, the contact stated that the same clicking noise was present when she operated the temperature gauge on the air conditioning unit. the vehicle was taken to a local repair shop where the contact was informed that the motor for the air conditioning unit needed to be replaced. the vehicle had not been repaired. the contact also stated that while driving at any speed, the vehicle would bounce and she could feel vibrations. the vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. the vehicle also stalled intermittently. the idle air control was repaired by a local mechanic. the current and failure mileages were 115,432.
Normal driving conditions, hot weather. the abs and trac lights on the instrument panel light up. abs and trac are disabled, suddenly and unexpectedly increasing braking distance. in cooler weather, the systems seem to be working. no repairs have been done yet. *tr
I have a ford windstar with 93,000 miles on the odometer and was shocked when the vehicle tires were slanted on an angle on day! this was very odd looking, as you can only imagine and after a review of the vehicle was told that the rear axle housing was cracked (and rusted) right in the middle, closer to one side; leaving the care non-drivable due to possible blow-out occurrence. after having no choice but to repair the vehicle and after putting over $600 dollars into the vehicle have only found that other ford windstars are also having this problem. i was fortunate enough not to be involved in any type of motor vehicle accident, however this was damaging to my savings account! i would still however buy ford vehicles and would like to make my case known in this situation. *tr
I own a 200 ford windstar and recently took it to a ford dealer to have the speed control module replaced due to recall. i did so after having problems with my brake system (not having any brake). i originally brought it to a regular garage and they could not figure out why i had no brake because my brakes were good so they told me to get to ford and have recall situation taken care of. after doing so i still have hardly any brake and the abs light still comes on. every week i seem to be putting in brake fluid because the red brake light comes on. on a few occasions i have had problems getting out of park and have no idea why. i am due to have an inspection and don't know what im going to do if it does not pass due to not having much of a brake. is there some other problem we should be looking at involving the abs system? *tr
My 2000 ford windstar's speedometer, odometer and cruise control does not work. the #10 fuse continuously blows and the abs light is on. i have replaced several fuses, purchased a new brake pressure deactivation switch, and the connector and had them installed. *tr
Ford windstar 2000 abs ecm failure. abs light comes on. any recall notice? *tr
Abs light is on intermittent..../ /other warning lights and sensors also go on and off alot ! / /also a/c and suspension have similar issues to previous recalls..../ /mileage now july 2012 - is approx 73,400/ *tr
Abs light would come on and stay on minutes after getting into car. approx 6mo. to a year the cruise control went out. now the speedometer quit working and the odometer went out. the air cond blows but no cold air. looked on the internet for solutions and found that alot of people were having the same problem. some incidents the brake fluid was dripping down and causing a fire. hopefully there will be a recall. i will probably try to get the abs sensor on the master cylinder replaced. *tr
Our 2000 windstar has had continuous problems from 20,000 miles on. recently at 60k miles, our transmission began to fail. we were under extended warranty. each time we went to ford service, we were told a seal was broken and repaired. two months later, the same problem. three months later the same problem and same diagnosis. at 70 k, the check transmission light came on and the o/d light began flashing. although we demanded a new transmission, ford service refused, telling us that a seal was once again broken. within two days, the same problem causing a breakdown out of state. new service rep. rolled his eyes when he saw what the prior service department did, but 4 days later, told us that a defective part was installed and that a new part would be put in. of course, no new part was put in and on transit home, the check transmission light and o/d lights came on again. i would never ever ever ever buy a ford again as a result of their lies and failure to fulfill warranty commitments. *nm
i intend to send a letter to our state senator because of the unfair service and quality of this car. i asked pok. ford to check a vibration in the gas pedal. i was told to get new rotors and new brakes. they said inspection was due soon, so i said fine fix it, but also do an inspection. after fixing, the pedal still vibrates. they say the tires, they're bald and strap is shifted, knowing this they passed my car anyway. concerned i went to bj's tire center the following day to see what was going on and if they were under warranty. they replaced the two front tires because they had no treads, gave me an alignment and said this was not the problem with the gas pedal. on the way to the doctors with my children i felt my gas pedal stick. ford claims that maybe the vibration was the transmission. i went to the place that did my transmission, he said this was not transmission related. he popped the hood and said this could be the problem, my gas cable line looked like it was sawed. he claims this just does not usually happen. i told jason what he said, jason claims he and i was crazy. he came out and looked himself, he said it was worn, frayed and very loose. after arguing with jason because he had my car five times for the same reason, and it took a transmission guy to notice the cable line, jason told me to leave the grounds and don't come back. when i got home i called the attorney generals office, federal trade comm, dept of motor vehicle, and a lawyer. i called freedom ford in beacon. he told me to bring the car in. the service man said the chamber that the cable goes through was free and there was nothing grabbing on the cable, this does not usually happen and he thinks it may have been done, but didn't comment how. i can't say how it happened but i can say that this is a safety issue and if pok. ford didn't do this and it didn't get stuck than this should have been a recall issue. i also have two doors that are still broke and was supposedly fixed ...
Dt: the consumer stated 2000 ford windstar was having multiple problems. the fuses blew out, the lights were blinking on and off, and the odometer/speedometer werenot working. the mechanic that looked at the car suggested that it may be an electrical problem. while driving the lights wereblinking on and off. consistently, kept the dashboard not illuminated. they have even tried to leave the air off to see if this would help the fuses not to blow out. there were lights on the dashboard that when lit up wthe fuse blew out. . the abs light came on when the fuse blew out. the rear defroster didn't work nor did the rear air vents. this was not a safety condition for the owner to be traveling with child who has major health issues. the owner has not taken the van to the dealership because she could not afford the cost of labor and service charges. the owner has had a small problem contacting the ford manufacturer, but that was now resolved. she was planning on contacting them today. the driver's side door will not lock or unlock with the remote. the cruise control was not working. *ak
My 2000 ford windstar sel with only 40,000 miles placed my family in extreme danger due to mechanical failure, on december 30, 2003. the transmission literally "broke" while i was in the process of taking a left turn onto a 5 lane highway. i had four children in the van with me, and my van gave no indication of transmission trouble prior to this incident. i thought i had been rear-ended, that is how strong the impact was. after searching the internet for answers, (why would a vehicle with only 40,000 miles violently quit?) it became quite obvious to many consumers that the ford company has known for many years the deficits with their windstar transmissions. it is a crime for the ford company to continue to sell their product as a family safe vehicle, when they know full well the danger families are in. again, it is only the safe driving of others on the road that day that prevented ford from having the death of 5 family members on it's record. i am surprised that a class action suit has not been filed yet? perhaps one is in process currently? i intend to find it, and add my name to it.*ak
Dt: the contact stated the interior lights, power windows, radio, and heater would stay on after the ignition was turned off and the key is removed. the fuse has to be removed every time the vehicle is turned off. he found recall 00v351000 on line concerning this problem. when he contacted the dealer , they said that this vehicle was not included in the recall due to vin. also there was a problem with the cruise control. the off switch for cruise control did not work. the cruise control could only be turned off by applying the brakes. *ak
The abs system still is not working right. the mechanics say that the abs and the emissions could very well be caused by the same problem - a faulty computer. both modules have been diagnosed to be bad, however, the local ford dealership has been unwilling to use a "post warranty adjustment" to help fix this problem. it seems unreasonable that with just over 60,000 miles these types of problems can be considered anything but manufacturer defects.
The dealer, lanham ford motor company lanham, md denied doing nhtsa recall 01v262000/ manufacturer's recall 01s26 repairs on vehicle. dealer basically stated that vehicle would have to be experincing problems before it could be serviced.*ak
Vehicle was sold without certification label. dealer notifed. *ak the dealer wants the owner of the vehicle to pick up replacement but the owner indicates to prefer the mailing of the sticker since the dealer is half hour drive away. *yh
