Problems with 2000 Ford Windstar POWER TRAIN

While driving about 50 mph transmission lost power when trying to accelerate. could not drive forward, and reverse was only gear working.*ak

Transmission had to be replaced.

At 632 miles we had a cracked seal replaced, along with the rear electric sliding door which was adjusted, on 04/00 we still had problems with the door and another door as well an electrical problem was found.on 09/00 transmition needed to be replaced and door was still inop, along with the other door. this vehicle is an unsafe lemon. the service repair facility made many attempts to repair the problems with the doors, among many other many major defects.we demand our rights under the ca. state lemon law to replace this vehicle.

My wife was coming off the freeway off-ramp and realized she had no brakes. the peddle had no give so she stood on the peddle and it slowed her down enough to make the turn and pull into a parking lot across the street. she then called to get the van towed to the shop. she was very lucky that she didn't have to make any sudden stop on the freeway because she wouldn't have had any brakes. she was also very lucky that there wasn't anyone in front of her on the off-ramp. it was the power booster that failed and then it took several weeks for them to get the parts as it was on a national back order, which lead me to believe alot more people were having the same problem. there was no warning the brakes were going out at all. the transmission has been making a loud clunking noise since about a month after we bought it and doesn't seem to shift right. we had it checked out in the shop at the time it was in for the brakes and the replaced a bracket. the van still does not seem to shift right at this time.

While stopping at a stop light transmission went. was told by dealer that vehicle needed a new transmission. *ak the dealer indicates that the manufacturer allows only failed part replacing not replacing the transmission. *yh

Automatic transmission shift gear was hard when changing into first gear. dealer notified.*ak the problem has been fixed. *et

Check engine light keeps coming on. last time(5) same part was replaced as first time it happened am now worried that the transmission will break down again. i have notified ford and requested they abide by md. lemon law don't know what else to do. *ak

Vehicle intermittently and unexpectedly acts like it wants to stall.when giving it gas it doesn't get any power. contact dealer, and dealer can't fix it.*ak

With the key switched "on" (engine not running), the transmission can be easily shifted without depressing the brakes. this can cause serious injury if a child is involved and the airbag deployes. we tried this on our van after a friend had a 3 yr old child shift their ford expedition into neutral and run through a wall. our vehicle shifted very easily every time we tried it. *ak

The transmission is whining, loud groaning/rubbing noise, and a loud groan and vibration that is felt through the vehicle at 800, 1100 & 1600 rpm. ford said it was exhaust system creating problem and has tryed to correct with no luck. the problem is coming from transmission and ford refuses to repair. *ak

Transmission jumped out of gear. *ak
