Recently reported VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL problems on 2005 Ford Taurus

I was driving down the highway approaching an intersection. as i let off the accelerator and applied the brakes, the car lurched forward like the cruise control was on, but it wasn't. it continued to accelerate and i was narrowly able to avoid a collision with the car in front of me. since that time i had several recurrences of this same problem. some while driving. some while sitting still. this is obviously an issue, and i am wondering how many people have to die until a recall is issued for this problem. the consumer stated the accelerator pedal stuck open on two occasions. updated 12/13/11 *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford taurus. the contact stated that while stopped at a traffic stop, the vehicle began to accelerate without warning. the contact turned into a side street, placed the vehicle in neutral and turned the vehicle off to stop the failure. the vehicle was towed to a local mechanic where the mechanic replaced the throttle body and the cruise control cable. neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 78,000 and the current mileage was 88,000.

My 2005 ford taurus all of the sudden started accelerating on its own. the first time this happened was october 1, 2012. i was going 45 mph when all of the sudden it started revving up even as i applied the brakes. i had to jump up onto a median at 65ish mph to avoid other cars. the brakes began to smoke and grind as i tried to stop. i had to apply the emergency brake to stop. even stopped the motor continued to rev at 8000 rpm. i had to turn the car off. since then the sudden acceleration has occurred five more times. i had to take it in for brake repairs and the mechanic said he didn't know what was causing the acceleration and suggested i remove my floor mats as they may have gotten jammed under the pedal. while i know this to be false i nonetheless removed the floor mats and the condition remains. another terrifying incident happened while i was visiting my daughter. she lives off a windy dirt road high on a leaf covered ridge. i usually don?t go any faster than 15 mph on her road. the car experienced another sudden acceleration as i was turning a bend. the car began to slide on the leaves and i bounced off a tree stump and almost hit my daughter?s fianc. again i applied the emergency brake to stop and had to turn the car off. the last occurrence happened in my driveway before i took the car out of park. i had to mash down on the accelerator to bring it back to idle. at this point i am too afraid to drive my car. i have incurred replacement brake bills and various car damages as a result of these incidents. thankfully no one has been hurt. *tr

Driving down expressway and car began to speed up on its own. could not get it to slow down. had to put car in neutral and pull into emergency lane. i then turned car off and was able to stop. had to be towed to shop. throttle was fixed. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford taurus. the contact stated that the accelerator pedal became stuck while driving. the contact tried to stop the vehicle but failed. the contact eventually slowed the vehicle down and pulled into a parking lot where the vehicle was towed to a repair shop for inspection. the technician stated that the throttle plate was found to be dirty. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 127,000. the vin was unavailable.

I just recently purchased a 2005 ford taurus and it was running fine for like 2 days. then the cruise stopped working a few days later the accelerator began to stick. i was going about 30 and suddenly the car began to take off on its own and i nearly hit the car in front of me. i had to steer off the road and pressing the brakes was very hard. this seems to be a trend for the car and is extremely dangerous!! someone should not have to die for this to be recalled!! *kb

I was driving 45 mph when the car suddenly accelerated quickly. i took my foot off of the gas pedal, however it continued to accelerate beyond 65 mph, despite my pressing the brake pedal all the way to the floor. as i was on a busy main road with multiple stop lights, i had to ride the shoulder and drive through two stoplights (approximately 0.25 mile) before forcing the car into neutral. this happened several more times over the next week. my local garage did a diagnostic and stated that the problem involved the cruise control cable coming loose. they performed a "temporary fix" and stated that it would need a lot more work. although the fix has diminished the frequency and intensity of the occurrences, the car still accelerates randomly at times. *tr

On several occasions, vehicle was trying to surge forward while at a stop sign. engine was revving very high; had to press down really hard on the brakes to prevent vehicle from surging forward. took it to ford dealer (bankston ford, fort worth tx) who said that the 'diagnosis of cruise control not working and purchase of a new cruise control cable.'. i paid $190.00' to the repair, but it still seems to occur sporadically. *tr

Unintended acceleration twice within a matter of minutes. both times the vehicle required shifting to neutral to stop. the second time the engine continued to rev at 4,000 rpms even after restarting the vehicle. the local tech stated that the problem had something to do with the cruise control cable and throttle. the problem appears to be fixed now, but this was an extremely dangerous situation. p.s. ? there are several online blogs discussing the same issue for the same year, make, and model. *js

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford taurus. the contact was driving 30 mph when the vehicle unexpectedly accelerated up to 65 mph despite the brakes being depressed. the failure was temporarily resolved when the engine was manually shutdown and restarted. the vehicle was taken to a private mechanic but the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 68,000 and the current mileage was 68,120.

For approximately the last year, off and on, the throttle will stick causing the car to accelerate. it usually happens at low to midrange speeds accelerating to at least 60 mph if left unchecked. punching the accelerator pedal will usually release the pedal. occasionally, when it happens on an open road with no traffic and i have the time to try different things i have found that turning the cruise control button to on (although the cruise control light will come on, the cruise control hasn't worked in over a year) while pushing the set button and then pushing coast, the accelerator pedal will release with an audible pop. sometimes this occurs several times a day, sometimes only once or twice a week. *tr

In the past three months, i have experienced a "sticking accelerator" 8-10 times while driving my 1995 ford taurus. while at speeds in the 35-40 mph range, i become aware that the car is accelerating; when i take my foot off the accelerator the car continues to slowly accelerate. applying the brake does not relieve the condition, and it is very difficult to bring the car to a stop. shifting from drive to neutral results in the engine running up to more than 4000 rpm. on some occasions, tapping the accelerator pedal several times clears the problem, and the engine goes back to a normal idle speed. on other occasions, i have had to go into park and turn off the ignition key. when restarting, the engine seems to act normal. my local garage diagnosed the problem as a fault in the cruise control. i have had them disconnect the cruise control. in checking on-line, it appears this problem has occurred to a number of others with the same car. *tr

I was driving and felt the accelerator pad click, then i noticed that my speed was increasing. as i applied the brake, i noticed that the car was not slowing down. i swerved down a side street and pull on my emergency breaks and turned off the engine. it began at approximately 30 mph and accelerated itself to approximately 40 mph. the dealership determined that my throttle cable was eroded and needed a replacement. i got a new throttle cable. about a month later, i felt the click again and i saw my speed go up again; this time, it unclicked. i contacted the dealership and dropped off the vehicle. the dealership determined this time that the tube in which the throttle cable is inserted was filled was debris so that caused another jam. the dealership did not charge me again for this service but it leads to me suspect if there are further issues with the accelerator itself. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford taurus. the contact stated while driving approximately 50 mph with the cruise control engaged, the vehicle suddenly accelerated up to 60 mph. the tachometer began to display a very high reading and the contact applied the brakes. the brakes would not disengage the cruise control, but the vehicle began to decelerate. the contact also stated that it was very difficult to stop the vehicle because the engine continued to rev. the vehicle was eventually pulled over to the side of the road and shut off. upon restart, the engine continued to rev. the vehicle was driven safely to an authorized dealer, where the throttle body and the cruise control cable were repaired. the failure mileage was 79,000. the consumer stated when restarting the vehicle, with the gear in park and the parking brake engaged, the vehicle tried to accelerate in a wild manner , reaching five on the tachometer, but the vehicle remained in its position due to the precautions, she took prior to restarting it. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technicians were unable to get the cruise control to engage. however, later on in the day, the cruise control finally engaged. updated 12/30/11

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford taurus. the contact stated that while the brakes were depressed, the engine rpms increased rapidly and the vehicle lunged forward unexpectedly. the vehicle was taken to the dealer but the manufacturer was not contacted. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 48,000 the current mileage was 50,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford taurus. the contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the vehicle suddenly accelerated while attempting a left turn at an intersection. the vehicle increased speed to 65 mph as the contact had the brakes depressed. in addition, the engine rpms abnormally increased to 4,000. the contact was able to stop the vehicle by applying the brake pedal with force, shifting into park and turning the engine off. the failure was experienced several times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer numerous times for the failure. the idle arm was replaced however, the failure was not corrected. the vehicle continued to accelerate sporadically and without warning. the failure mileage was 93,709 and the current mileage was 96,000.

On three separate occasions, while driving between 30-40 mph, the throttle "stuck". i was not using cruise control in any of these cases. it was difficult to get the car to slow down - required extreme brake pressure - when i shifted into neutral, the engine rpm went well above 3000 rpm. i shut off the engine, waited a minute or two, and restarted the car. everything seemed to be completely normal. this happened two more times over the next several weeks. in each case when i shut off the engine and restarted it, all seemed to be normal. i took the car to a local auto mechanic, and he was unable to replicate my experience. he said he suspected the problem was related to the cruise control, and that a repairs could be several hundred dollars. or he could simply disconnect the cruise control. i chose the later. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford taurus. the contact stated that the vehicle suddenly accelerated while attempting to enter the driveway and the rpms increased to 3,000. the contact had to turn the vehicle off to stop the acceleration . the contact inspected the vehicle and found the accelerator cruise control cable plastic receptacle detached and caused the vehicle to accelerate. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 85,000 and the current mileage was 109,000.

The issue started as a throttle sticking closed. this required a harder than normal push to get the throttle to open and increase engine speed. this eventually turned into the throttle sticking open and not returning to idle. the on the road fix was to push quickly on the throttle pedal a couple times to get the throttle to release to idle. this also necessitated riding the brakes to keep the cars speed under control. over time the issue became worse, with the throttle sticking open more often. what i found when investigating the issue was that the cruise control cable fitting at the throttle linkage was disconnected. the fitting would snap back onto the proper place but was very loose and would pop back off easily when the throttle was actuated. i used a plastic tie-wrap to tighten the locking mechanism in place. another item that i found was a lot of varnish where the throttle butterfly met the throttle body (inside the throttle body) at/near idle. this contributed to the sticking closed/open issue. i used carb cleaner while the engine was running to clean the throttle body around the butterfly, and outside the throttle body on the linkage. the issue at this point has not returned. i do feel there is an issue with the connector at the end of the cruise control cable. since it seems to be affecting others about the same mileage, it seems to be a wear issue of an under designed connector. i don't know if the varnish build up (amount) is out of the ordinary, but have not had the sticking throttle issue on any other car i have owned. i could see this causing an accident for others that may not understand the mechanics of what is happening. *tr

2005 ford taurus. letter sent from attorney on behalf of client in regards to sudden acceleration *tgw the driver sustained injuries in an accident on august 1, 2011. as the driver exited the car wash, the vehicle suddenly accelerated at a high rate of speed. the driver went over a curb and into a parking lot of a building. the driver and passenger had to be extricated from the vehicle. *jb

My car began to accelerate with very little pressure on the gas pedal. i pushed the brakes all the way down but brakes wouldn't stop the car. the engine revved so high i had no choice but to just shut the car off. i then tried to restart the car and it revved really high again. i have had it towed and worked on twice and the throttle keeps getting stuck. ill be driving and it just get stuck and i have a hard time getting it to stop with my brakes. my cruise control is no longer working as well. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford taurus. while driving approximately 15 mph, the vehicle suddenly accelerated independently. the contact depressed the brake pedal while the engine roared with an unusual increase in rpms. the contact was able to stop the vehicle after shifting into neutral. the contact stated that the cruise control was inoperable at the time. the failure recurred twice. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostics. there was an investigation under nhtsa action number: pe12005 (vehicle speed control:cables) that could have been related to the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford taurus. the contact stated that while driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle accelerated independently. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 106,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford taurus. the contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph and completing a left turn, the vehicle accelerated independently. the contact depressed the brake pedal repeatedly until the vehicle came to a stop. after the contact shifted into park, the engine rpms continued to increase. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. the technician stated that the cruise control cable was fractured and would have to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was towed to the dealer for a second diagnostic. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 71,000. *tr

When either driving or staying still, my 2005 ford taurus would suddenly accelerate to where pressing on the break would not control the car. i would either try to lift the acceleration peddle up with my hand, which broke the pedal in one case, or put the car into neutral, which would rev the rpm's to 4000+. i had two near crashes and when i was driving it to the ford dealership in july 2011, was stuck on a highway and had to get a tow because the pedal broke while trying to stop the car from accelerating. i called ford immediately after my incident and was promptly told that the car was fine, that they had no reports of this issue and that driving my car was safe. i didn't even think to contact the nhtsa until i heard the report on cnn. i have also done some research and found hundreds of others who have had the same issue and people that have had loved ones die because of this. i have had to drive another car for fear that if i drive my ford, i'll die. i cannot sell the car because i don't want someone else to possibly die. please help. *tr

While in parking lot, car suddenly accelerated without touching the gas pedal. held the brakes to keep car from moving and put the car in neutral. when i put the car in neutral, the rpms when up to 7000, gas pedal was not being touched. after i got the car stopped and while in neutral, i quickly pumped the gas pedal once and the engine came back down to idle. this has happened on the highway as well. i am surprised by the many reports of this on the ford taurus that it isn't a recall. this is the same type of issue toyota had. sudden acceleration. does someone have to die before this gets recalled?

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford taurus. while traveling 50 mph, the contact noticed that the vehicle had suddenly begun to accelerate and the accelerator pedal lost all pressure. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the throttle body gasket and cruise control cable were replaced. the failure mileage was 66,000 and the current mileage was 75,000. updated 07/10/12*lj the consumer stated the accelertor issue was addressed several times in 2010. updated 07/11/12

I first notice that the cruise control had stop working after that a little while later i would be driving along and the car would pick up speed on its own i would press the brake but that wouldn't slow it down so i hit the gas petal and finally the speed would drop. i feel so unsafe what if this is to happen on a rainy or icy day i could hurt myself or someone else what can i do that's not going to be costly? *tr

2005 ford taurus had uncommanded acceleration with stuck throttle. found cruise control cable disconnected and jammed at throttle body. also found sticking throttle body. replaced cable and throttle body. no assistance from ford or local dealer. *tr

We were driving home from a concert in washington dc and i noticed that the car seemed to want to go by itself and continued to speed up even though i had taken my foot off the accelerator. we got into heavy traffic and it was difficult to stop the car. i put it in park and turned the car off. i then pulled out of traffic and drove the rest of the way home on back roads to avoid the heavy traffic. again the car seemed to speed up on its own and i had to hold the brake to avoid going too fast. at one point i pulled into the gas station and turned the car off again and when i restarted it the problem appeared to have gone away. the next morning we looked at the car and found that the cruise control cable was broken and catching the throttle. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford taurus. the contact stated that when starting the vehicle, the rpms would race to 4000. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where they advised him that they were unable to diagnose the failure. the dealer was contacted and they offered no assistance. the failure mileage was approximately 67,000.

While sitting at a stop light i felt the car trying to lunge forward. when the light turned green and i slowly released my foot from the break the car began to accelerate and move on its own without me stepping on the gas pedal. i had difficulty stopping the car completely and pulled to the side of the road and put the vehicle in park. the car started revving up and becoming very loud. i put the car back into drive and the car drove on its own. this happened again today, but the acceleration speed was more aggressive this time, i pulled over into a empty parking lot i was too afraid to be behind another vehicle because although the brakes were working i had to press all the way down to floor to get them to stop the vehicle completely. what's even worse is now my car has started to accelerate in reverse as well. after seeing the same complaint over and over on this site i do not know why the car has not been recall. this is very dangerous. i felt afraid for my life! and by the way last week i made my final car payment for this car and just days later this happened!

Vehicle started accelerating at various times, tapping the accelerator seemed to help. took the car twice to the same ford dealership, they cleaned the idle control motor because it was dirty. ford said if it acts up again the idle control would have to be replaced. i decided to take it to another non-ford mechanic and within (2) minutes he had the answer. the cruise control was hanging open on the throttle plate. i had him disconnect the cruise control, believe me, i was very apprehensive about this. in the mean time i had them order another cruise control cable. it took about a week to arrive, but i had no sudden accelerations what so ever. i decided not to have the new one put on. it is now september, and i have had no sudden accelerations since mid may. i wanted to be certain that this was the obvious answer to this problem before i filed a complaint. *tr

Car accelerates on it's own for no reason at all. we have had it to two separate mechanics, which one was able to make it stop for about a week. now it is back doing the very same thing and so dangerous we cannot drive it. car only has 60000 miles and should not be reacting in such a dangerous manner. if there isn't a recall there should be! *tr

Two weeks ago i stopped at a red light and the rpms started to rev-up and my car seemed to be trying to lurch forward. however, i had my foot on the brake. i turned the car off and on twice and it did the same thing. when i lifted my foot off the brake, the car drove itself around the corner. the only control i had was putting my foot on the brake to slow down. it continued to drive itself until i turned it off. it did this 4 times in total. the last time it happened, i felt the gas pedal "pop" under my foot and the car began to respond again. on the last trip the car drove me almost 20 miles of its own volition. this is extremely dangerous and although i found many complaints about it online, ford told me there were no recalls and i'd have to pay for repairs out of pocket. this should be investigated - - i could have rear-ended someone or worse. *tr

I was driving my car when the pedal suddenly stuck. i tried to stop the car but it was difficult, so i shifted into neutral. my throttle was stuck open at 4,000 rpms. i managed to get the car to idle normal after slamming on the gas pedal repeatedly. i assumed the throttle body was the cause of my problems, so i had my mechanic clean it out for me, but the problem is still there. it happens randomly, and the only way i have found stops the issue is shifting to neutral and slamming on the gas pedal. i have also noticed it acts up more when it is hot outside. *js

I was traveling at approximately 35 mph when car began accelerating and continue to accelerate and reached speed of approximately 50mph. i managed by applying brakes continuously to slow down and pull in parking lot. i put engine in neutral and engine continued at high rpm. i turned car off and started it back up several times before i tried pressing gas pedal to floor several times. car then idled at normal idle speed. it seemed to be ok at this point but when i began driving again this happened several more times. if i put car in neutral and floored gas pedal it returned to normal rpm. i have had this reoccur 6 or 7 times since then and putting in neutral, flooring gas pedal resolves problem. i do not use cruise control often but when i tried to use it this summer it no longer works.

Was traveling on a 4 lane highway at 45 mph. when i turned the cruise control on, all of the sudden the engine started to accelerate on it's own causing me to almost run a red traffic light. i hit the brakes hard a couple times and got it stopped. *js

I have a 2005 ford taurus that has recently (since yesterday) started accelerating on its own. when the brake is applied it slows down some, but will not stop completely. i have adjusted the throttle, and it would start up just fine after that, but would resume the issue shortly thereafter. i feel extremely unsafe. the only thing that helps even though it is of minimal assistance is pressing down the gas pedal and releasing it while driving. even then sometimes the rpm's will stay between 4-5,000. the only way to shut it off and park safely is to brake to the floor, put the car in neutral where the rpm's go over 4,000 and shut off the car. after reading all of these similar instances, i feel that there is a problem with this model. it is extremely dangerous. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford taurus. the contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the vehicle suddenly accelerated. the contact applied the brakes, but the vehicle continued to accelerate. the contact also stated that the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer in 2011 for the same failure, but they were unable to diagnose the failure. the dealer stated that the contact was depressing both the brake and accelerator pedals at the same time. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who inspected the failure and stated that the throttle body was sticking. the mechanic sprayed a lubricant on the throttle and the failure was remedied for approximately one year. the manufacturer was notified and stated that the failure was under a defect investigation and there were no current recalls. no further assistance was provided. the failure mileage was 55,000 and the current mileage is 60,000. updated 05/11/12*lj updated 06/01/12

i was traveling down a country blacktop at about approximately 58 mph when i was about to meet a car on this narrow road and proceeded to slow down. but when i took my foot off the accelerator the speedometer continued to climb so i pushed on the brake and let off the brake and once again it continued to climb this time, i shifted into neutral and pumped the accelerator and the engine idled down. i then put the car back into drive and proceeded down the road after a short way it repeated the acceleration again as i approached a sharp curve i again took it out of gear. after driving home i looked under the hood and found that my cruise control cable had detached itself and was hung up on the throttle body holding it open. i then took it to my ford dealer where i ask them to unhook and order me a new one. i later had the new one installed. just recently in feb. after having my oil changed it happened again. i was driving at night in the rain at a speed of about 35 mph i was able once again driving home and unhooking the cable. i asked my ford dealer about a service bulletin and they were unaware. the cable is still unhooked and i would like to use my cruise but won't until they find a fix. my ford dealer is carson ford hamilton ,ill and know about my to incidence. *tr updated 05/24/12 *bf the consumer stated she was rear ended and pushed into another vehicle. her vehicle sustained damage to the front and rear area. the vehicle was totaled. the consumer would like her vehicle deleted from the list of affected vehicles. updated 05/25/12

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford taurus. the contact was driving 40 mph when the brakes were applied. the vehicle then abnormally accelerated and the engine displayed an unusual increase in rpms. the shifted into neutral and turned the vehicle off. once the vehicle was restarted, the vehicle resumed normal operation until the accelerator pedal was engaged and the pedal became stuck in the open throttle position. the vehicle continued to accelerate and the contact attempted to dislodge the pedal. the vehicle was taken for inspection where the contact was awaiting a diagnosis of the failure and possible repairs. the failure and current mileage was 62,000. updated 05/05/11*lj the dealer replaced the cruise control cable. updated 06/20/11

My daughter reported that her 2005 taurus excel seated for no reason. this has happened several times. the last time there was a near accident but she managed to get to the side of the road. vehicles rpm went to 4000 and she had to push hard on the brakes until stopped. vehicles on the highway were stopped suddenly in front of her at the time. i was just on a site and found more than 110 complaints for the same thing. this is very dangerous for a 17 year old driver. please help. *js

While driving at approximately 20 mph the vehicle suddenly accelerated on its own. i depressed the brake pedal while the engine continue to rev. i was able to stop the vehicle after applying significant pressure to the brake pedal but ended up in the middle of intersection with high traffic luckily i was not harmed. since this occurrence i have experienced 2 other incidents of a similar nature. this may related to the current investigation under the nhtsa action number;pe12005(vehicle speed control:cables). *tr

While driving the car just accelerated on its own and the cruise control quit working. to date the cruise control still doesn't work and the accelerator will go on its own. *tr

At about 50 miles per hour car would start speeding up even with accelerator pedal not being touched. had to brake hard or to press hard on gas pedal to slow down. went to raisor ford dealer in lafayette and had to have a new throttle body replaced with linkages. this was very dangerous until repaired. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford taurus. the contact stated that while driving 30 mph the engine began to rev very rapidly. the vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road where it was stopped. while examining the vehicle, the contact noticed that the accelerator cable was fractured. the vehicle was in the process of being taken to an independent mechanic. the manufacturer and the authorized dealer were made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 53,000. updated 10/5/11 *cn the consumer stated the cruise control cable, is keeping the throttle open and making the rpm's rise higher than they should. updated 10/26/11

I have been having problems in which the accelerator sticks while driving. it is difficult to slow the vehicle to a stop. it has also stuck when the car is started. at times the car will not start properly, only after repeated tries will it turn over. *js

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford taurus. while stopped at a traffic stop, the engine rpms increased abnormally. the contact stated that the failure would occur when driving at various speeds. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostics but the mechanic was unable to diagnose the failure. the failure recurred intermittently. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford taurus. the contact stated that the cable to the throttle body fractured and caused the vehicle to experienced sudden acceleration. the vehicle was repaired however, the contact stated that the throttle cable felt as if it were too tight and was releasing slowly, causing the vehicle to slightly accelerate before decelerating. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer but the contact was advised that there were no failures with the vehicle. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 72,000.
