Approximately 1 year ago, i was having mechanic problems with my 2001 ford taurus. the engine light came on. i had it inspected by a mechanic. the egr valve and egr sensor was replaced. about two weeks ago, the engine light came back on. i was not able to have it checked by a mechanic again. about a week ago, i noticed that when i started the engine, there was an instantaneous smell of exhaust in the passenger compartment. the windows were all in the closed position. i was required to drive with my windows down for a few days until i could have it looked at by a mechanic. the mechanic found that the egr sensor had melted due to the egr valve not functioning properly. the vacuum line from the egr valve to the egr sensor had also melted. during the few days that i had to drive it, i suffered from extreme headaches, nausea, and lightheadedness from the exhaust coming into the car. although there was no fire, there was a great potential for a fire due to the extreme heat causing the sensor to melt. *tr

Approx. mid-may 2008 noticed coolant smell in car and water on the passenger side floor inside 2001 ford taurus wagon. within a couple of weeks, ac blower motor only worked on high. took to sherwood ford in salisbury, md end of may 2008 for repair. they replaced resistors to blower motor and stated problem was due to corrosion from water damage from leak in windshield/cowl. blower worked fine until august 18, 2008 started working only on high again. took back to sherwood ford 8-25-08, they are currently replacing resistors again and state that blower motor should be replaced too because it is not working up to par due to water damage. internet search of ford taurus cowl leak reveals many other people owning ford taurus/mercury sable have the same problem and ford will not issue recall. i cannot afford to replace the blower, if it goes out altogether then a dangerous situation could develop due to inability to clear the windshield of fog, etc. referencing complaint numbers 10184014, 10189897, 10195320, 10205290. called ford motor company customer relationship center on 8-25-08 and was told there is nothing they can do to help with repairs for this known defect. *tr

I am a owner of a 2001 ford taurus which i bought used and have owned it now for 2 years. it is the first ford i have owned in over 20 years. since i have owned it, it has not given me too many problems, just the basic break downs like, batteries, brakes ,seized a/c compressor, coolant expansion tank cracked, ect. those things are going to break. but what has really upset me is how i have read about the coil springs breaking on the taurus and causing possible damage to the vehicle. i didn't think it would happen to me but after arriving home today i noticed a small piece of metal under my 01 taurus and after further observation i found it to be a piece of my rear coil spring from the drivers side. i am a 40+ year old male who has had many makes and models of different types of vehicles and have never had or heard of coil springs breaking as they do on the ford taurus. this is a problem that needs to be repaired by ford and not the consumer. so i can only expect that the rest of the springs are faulty and need to be replaced before i have any further damage to my vehicle. it seems to me that the ford company does not care about craftmanship or the consumers safety. so change your slogan " have you driven a ford lately" to " your riding on faulty coil springs". this is a serious problem that is a major safety issue and needs to be corrected free of charge to all ford taurus owners. *tr

dt: contact owns a 2001 ford taurus. the contact stated while driving at any speed vehicle stalled. the contact stated that before the engine stalled he anti-theft light illuminated. other than this light there were no other warnings indications that the engine was going to stall. the contact stated that this did not happen every time she drove the vehicle. after waiting five or ten minutes the vehicle started again. but after driving approximately 40 minutes the vehicle will stall again. the dealership states that they could not find out what was wrong with the vehicle. the contact has not contacted the manufacturer.*ak

Have complained to dealer/ford motor company re: foul odor when heat is running. was told that i probably had a high sensitivity to allergies. complained about having to replace breaks at 15,000 miles. had to replace oil gasket pan twice within the same year. dealership did not find this unusual. car accelerates without warning sometimes. the motor is making a rushing noise. was told that this was the normal sound of the motor although it did not start until six months down the road. had to take car back to replace back/warped windshield after having it one day. dealership will not even allow me to trade vehicle and does not acknowledge fact that too many things have gone wrong in too short a period of time. purchased vehicle in 2002. *la
