I have a 2010 ford ranger. it has 54,000 miles and the heater has stopped working. apparently the heater in rangers has been a problem for years. they break and they don't repair them because of the mileage. they also charge a fee to find the problem. i know it's electric and i'm not sure if it can cause a fire. *tr
