On 8/13/2013 the original fuel pump in my 2002 ford ranger was replaced with an airtex brand fuel pump.on 3/17/2015 i had to replace the fuel pump after it failed, only 18 months and 5000 miles later.during the period of 6/10/2013 and 8/16/2013 airtex had a fuel pump recall on three different vehicle models,as well as having recalled defective fuel pumps since.also in 12/2013 airtex began offering a lifetime warranty as opposed to their previous one year warranty.i have owned 6 cars and this is the only time i've had to replace a fuel pump.i believe my low mileage managed to prolong the life of the defective fuel pump, and therefore neither me or my repair shop should be liable.i also believe the history of failure with airtex pumps should make them liable for my repair, despite any outdated warranty.i believe their constant recalls and opting to provide a longer warranty suggests they don't have the faith in their product they expect me to. i feel airtex customer support failed to address my issue or provide any means for resolution.this is a defective pump,no question about it.i still have all repair receipts and the defective fuel pump and filter that were removed from my truck.there is zero chance how i drive, park or anything i have done had anything to do with this fuel pump failure,i do not want to be punished because i preserved their defect beyond the warranty period, which airtex themselves deemed to be insufficient, otherwise why would they change it to a lifetime warranty? *tr

Dt: the contact owns a 2002 ford ranger. the contact stated that he told the dealership about his problem with his alarm system and they would never do anything about it. currently, he states, vehicle will not even crank because of the faulty device. *ak

I purchased a 2002 ranger edge 4x4 , it had 4 miles on it. i have since replaced the airbag sensor, abs sensor, front end had tobe realigned due to a bad alignment at the factory, the tires in the front had to be replaced at 4500 miles. now at 38000 miles the 4x4 drivetrain was leaking at the front cover. the breathing tube was throwing oil out onto the engine . i was told by ford company and a ford tech. that this was a e4nginnering problem. it was replaced at my cost of 796.00. the cover was replaced with a part that was used previous to 1995, part number is fof6tz-4033-ba. my complaint is why is this not a recall and can i expect future problems. *jb

My husband drives a 2002 ford ranger truck.. he was in a accident on 3/05/03 when a car pulled out in front of his truck he was going approx. 35 to 40 mph, he hit her car hard enough to flip her car on it's side. my complaint/concern is his air bag did not deploy, he did have on a seat belt and only sustained minor injuries. my concern is if this had been a more serious accident is there a problem with the air bag not deploying. my husband voiced his concerns with the ford service and requested that they evaluate the air bag system, the technician claims since the accident was not head on or full frontal hit that this is why it did not deploy. am unable to find info regarding this, so why did it not deploy. is this a defect or normal. *nlm

My husband and i were driving on the interstate. my husband attempted to overtake a slow moving vehicle. he had to accelerate between 80 and 85 to overtake in fast moving traffic. our vehicle acted like it was starved of fuel and was not responding. this put us in a very dangerous situation as there was other traffic on the road. we contacted our local ford dealership. they test drove the vehicle and stated that they could not find a defect. we expressed our concern that the sudden loss of power puts us in an unsafe overtaking situation. we were invited to take a test drive with a technician. we expressed our concern for the safety of the tecnician and ourselves during a test drive a high speeds. the dealership and ford manufacturing stated there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. finally having faxed our concerns to the dealership on10/14/02, we were offered another test drive with a service technician on 10/15/02. during the test drive at speeds not exceeding 65 miles per hour, the technician explained that the vehicle has a "rev limiter" which is governor which stops all acceleration at 85 mph. we feel that this inability to go above 85 miles per hour places in a very vulnerable position. the truck will not be able to respond in an emergency or avoidance situation. this places everyones lives at risk. it seems that ford motor company is the only one who has decided how fast their trucks should go and have not taken into consideration the danger that they a placing us in. with regard to the air conditioning unit, we have experienced the following: the unit cycles on and off approx. every 12 seconds. this causes the truck to surge each time the unit comes on as there is a loss of power to the engine. the unit also makes a loud clicking sound as it comes on. the constant surging of the engine makes for a very uncomfortable ride. the ford delearship and ford motor company do not consider this a problem. mr

On 2 ocassions in july 2002; ford ranger just stopped running...all systems non functioning; right in the middle of the road, with mileage< 15,000. there was no time to pull off road as no warning lights came on; all systems simply failed. first time it was repaired under warranty, it happened again a week later. i might add their roadside service could not be provided as they had no one available. i sat for 2 hours until police came by & obtained a tow for me. victory ford in stoughton ma. did first repair & truck was not running right. when i brought it back the next day; they stated it was road tested. how can they road test when in mileage was the same as out mileage? second time repair was done at a different ford dealership, which i have no problem with except it took over a week before they could get to it. the repair was completed and i was told it was the main computer chip. but in case it happened again they gave me an extra chip and showed me how to install it !!! real confidence builder!! truck continued to run rough but i was told this was typical of ford by the mechanic. second complaint...engine light came on, and when i went to ford garage they told me they couldn't get to it for days, but that it was probably alright to drive, but that i should have it checked out. how do i get it checked out when no local ford garages could do it. took my chances and went on vacation. when i arrived at my destination; a male relative called a ford garage in n.h. the problem..a dpfe sensor & it was promptly repaired. this garage in conway n.h. (macdonald motors) treated me the way i felt all customers should be treated. must i go out of state now to get truck fixed which is still under warrenty and <18,000 miles on it. thank you for hearing me out & allowing me to vent. i have been a ford owner for many years & trade vehicles every 2 years. guess it's time to seek another auto maker.*ak
