42k. engine light came on, diagnostics reported a bad 02 sensor. never had any kind of issues with an 02 sensor. can't believe it happened on a 2015 model.
Started car, got dashboard light on 7.6.19 mileage 27721. car running rough, about to stall, etc. error code p0302. cyl.#2 ignition coil replaced. then, 2 weeks later got dashboard light again, same code p0302. mechanic (private)replaced perceived faulty ignition coil as previous. on 9.23 .19 car started,. car runs rough, almost stalls dashboard lights again. this time we take it to royal oak ford service dept. they get p0302 and advise us to change spark plugs. $307.29 charge. upon inspection of spark plugs i note all plugs are heavily coated in carbon. i check the tailpipe and the inside is also heavily carbon coated. shortly after i find information that most direct inject engines have this problem. it was not hard info to find. because of direct injection the valves do not receive the benefit of detergent gasolines and become heavily coated in carbon. this is an oversimplified explanation of what is occurring., but makes the point. i confirm findings with and show plugs to, my mechanic who confirms ;that these direct inject engines have an issue the manufacturers can't or haven't corrected, which results in the condition my spark plugs were found in. i found notsb's on the subject. mechanic recommends a gdi service, which includes pulling all valves and cleaning them. he also recommends anyone with a di engine to do this at least once a year to keep vehicle running smoothly and to get maximum life out of the plugs. by the way, first service interval for plugs on this car is 100,000 miles. this is the experience i've been exposed to so far, but do know that it can get much worse (affecting other parts of the engine) fwiw the mechanic believes the manufacturers (in this case ford) are well aware of these issues with direct inject designed engines. pic of plugs incl. below.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford fusion. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled while driving and would not restart. the vehicle was taken to felix sabates ford lincoln (7601 south blvd, charlotte, nc 28273) where it was determined not to be included in nhtsa campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system). the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 69,200. *bf*jb
Every time i fill up the gas tank and i attempt to start the car, the car runs rough and stalls. it takes two or three time of trying to start the car before it will start. it will run rough for a while be it starts running normal.
After refueling the vehicle is difficult to start, pumping the accelerator helps but the engine will stall suddenly within a few miles of the fill up. on two occasions i have lost power when driving on a major street with 1/4-1/2 tank of fuel. this stall is preceeded by a loud, disonate noise from the fuel filler. there is www information regarding failed purge valves, but most information is for earlier models. the focus recall seems identical. this is obviously a safety issue and i have taken the caution to stay off the road after fueling till the engine is running smoothly. codes checked with only one reading coming up -a year ago.
My vehicle stalls after fueling and also while driving. it seems to be a problem with many ford fusions. while driving, the cap less gas filler will start vibrating and relieving pressure from the fuel system. this is causing the car to act like it is misfiring and run rough. before i have time to pull off the busy city street the car will shut off and i'm left sitting in the middle of the road trying to get the car started and moved to a safe location. occasionally the car will throw a 1450, 2196, or 0131 code. the main code is 1450 which is an evap code. i've replaced the canister and will be replacing the purge valve soon. these valves need to be looked at because they can malfunction without any warning and pose a safety hazard.
Car would intermittently stall at low speeds and would shake and shutter until the engine quit. this would take place after warm up and the car had been driven for several miles. car would restart after hard cranking after moving gear shift into park. this would take place at stop lights, in the driveway and on the street while in traffic. dealer replaced throttle body (part # ds7z 9e926c) after verifying code from electronic analysis.
Car stalls when starting out
Filled up car w/ gas, car sputtered like it was not getting gas. car shut off but power stayed on. tried to start car again, & it sputtered again. i then pushed on accelerator to give gas, and car sputtered as i let off, then died, but still had power. started car for 3rd time, and it continued to sputter, i pushed on accelerator, and put in drive, and as i drove about 20 meters, the car seemed to still sputter. once i continued to drive, and get up to 30 to 40 mph, the car ran fine. car started fine the next few hours, but then in the evening it did it again. i had to put hazards on due to being on a main road and the car would not acellerate and started sputtering again. my check engine light also has came on during this process. i have taken into auto shop and it reads that fuel pressure sensor needs replaced: code p0087 fuel rail/system pressure - too low p2196 02 sensor signal stuck rich bank 1 sensor 1 p1450 unable to bleed up fuel tank vacuum. with the vehicle being well maintained and being less than 5 years old, i believe this should be taken in consideration due to being very unsafe to drive due to not knowing when the sputtering of the car will happen.
Awhile back the car started making strange noises, that came from the fuel inlet behind the gas door, sounding like pressure escaping. pressing the door in (capless fuel tank) confirms this, as the vacuum is released. car idles rough, and in some cases, after refueling, it will immediately stall. upon further research, it seems to happen to quite a few fusion owners, with videos and forums posts to verify. ford claims to not know of the issue, but just today issued a recall for a similar problem for the focus model cars. it is the 2.0l turbo or naturally aspirated engines, and i have the 2.0l turbo. there have also been reports of cars stalling while in motion. check engine light came on today, with a p1450 code.
Check engine light code indicates catalytic converter failure. oil changed according to manufacturers recommendations. car is driven less than 100 miles per month. indicator light comes on and goes out intermittently. car is only 3 years old.
My car since i bought it has had the same issue of turning off either while driving or right after i get gas and not starting back up. i have gotten the purge valve replaced as that is what the dealer said was the issue and one year later i'm having the same issue. it seems this is a huge problem for fords since they recalled over a million ford focus vehicles for the same issue but my model is not on the recall list which it clearly needs to be.
My vehicle makes a noise while driving and this noise comes from the gas tank. it is like a honk sound. to stop the sound, i have to stop the vehicle, open the gas tank and let the air/pressure inside the gas thank out. the smell is some kind of burnt engine or wire. after i have let the air/pressure out, engine warning light turns on for few hours and goes off. there are lots of customers with this same issue and reported this issue. informed this issue to ford and they asked me to get diagnostics done on the vehicle and call them back. i did get the diagnostics done on the vehicle, technician said that there is a problem with the canister purge valve and he explained me something about the pressure which i couldn't understand. so i called ford back and informed them that this is the issue and asked them to help me with it. they said they cant do anything because it had nothing to do with any recall program or any rebate program active based on the given mileage. i begged ford to please check online that there are so many customer with the same complaint. the supervisor said she cannot do anything. i am requesting nhtsa to please do an enquiry on this issue and help the people who are suffering. thank you.
While driving this vehicle the engine misfires decrease in power and completely stops acceleration. it also uses a great deal of fuel. the coolant constantly leaks out and the engine overheats every few minutes. the car also overheats when sitting in a parked position. while driving on the freeway the car slowed to 25mph. we were very close to being involved in an accident.
Initial failure of defective throttle bodies on ford escape and fusion, you have let ford get away with extending the warrenty on several years of this dangerous failure but they refuse to do anything when it fails and starts working again after sitting and restarting. while driving on a busy city street with multiple lanes it lost almost all power and they car slowed and would not accelerate. this can strand people and be dangerous to them and others nearby on the road.mine happened on a 2015 ford fusion with no warning.
Engine unexpectedly shuts off while driving. while driving at low speed in parking lot i went over a bump and then the engine shut off. odometer is at approximately 44000. this occurred once before several months ago under the same conditions but i was not sure what to make of it.
This car has been in multiple times for loss of power and engine cutting out during acceleration. it has become dangerous. this is the ecoboost engine. ford is not telling all about the dangers of this problem. i have almost been killed several times trying to accelerate into the roadway.
My check engine light came on about 3 weeks ago. after i fill up my tank the car won't start. i have to give it a lot of gas as i'm starting it for it to start. within the past week it would not idle smoothly if i was at a stop sign or stop light. i've noticed this happens when i have around 1/4 tank of gas. again, i've started putting my foot on the gas while i'm stopped to keep the idle smooth. i was able to get an appointment with a dealership. they found the purge valve assembly to be defective. this device is on a nationwide back order. the part has been ordered and they will replace it when it comes in, whenever that is. however i'm left driving the vehicle. yesterday, i was driving down a city street at about 35mph when the engine just shut off. i was not low on gas. i had just under 1/2 tank. luckily there was minimal traffic and i was able to start it only after several tries and giving it a lot of gas as soon as i hit start. i have no idea when the part will come in. i'm concerned i'll pull out into traffic and the engine will die. or i'll be on the highway just driving along and it will die. if either of those occur, i'm not sure what will happen to me or my kids.
Engine stalls after fueling vehicle. strong fuel odor after fueling vehicle
Takata recall i currently own a 2015 ford fusion se 2.0l turbo as the mileage has increased i have become aware of a problem with the purge vale, as i have having troubling starting my car after i put gas in it along with stalling. after some research i came upon articles of complaints about the same model car with the same purge valve problem. i believe this is a defect in the car that has dangerous safety hazards
In october 2017 my fusion stalled out four times (three various days and one day 15 minutes between stalls) and again on november 4th. each time i was driving less than 10 mph; four times on a city street and once in a parking lot. in each case i had been driving for an hour or more and then stopped and turned off the car for a period of time (1/2 hour or so). when i got into the car to drive away the car would start normally and then within a few minutes after the car was put into drive and moving it would start to sputter and shake and then stall out. in each case no engine check light came on. i would wait a few seconds, press the start button, the engine would crank a few times, and then it would start. each time this occurred i ran a vehicle health report and nothing was noted. the car was taken to a ford dealer where they could not replicate the issue. in doing research, i believe there is an issue with the fuel injection throttle body.
While driving, my vehicle overheated. checked coolant level, and it was less than half full. i refilled coolant to recommended level, and proceeded to drive. two weeks later, it overheated again, and my coolant was low again. refilled and monitored for leaks. no leaks. then vehicle began misfiring. diagnosed with cylinder 3 misfire. replaced spark plugs and coil packs. still misfiring. rediagnosed with cylinder 3 misfire. then it just died. would not start. acted as though it was flooding. diagnosed with no additional issues by dealership. then discovered tsb for a bolt that was backing out of the intercooler and into the manifold. this issue was allowing coolant to flood the manifold and cause misfiring. got that fixed as well as the catalytic converter and turbo unit for the car which were damaged as a result of the coolant issue. $5,000 in repairs for a manufacturing defect that could have left my family and i stranded in the desert heat without a/c or in the sub-zero snowy mountains without heat since the vehicle would not even start. as a family, we travel extensively. this is definitely a safety issue!!!!!
Car stalls after starting. when pulling away from a parked position car will hesitate shudder and accelerator will not work. engine light comes on. after sitting several minutes the car will restart and run normally until the next time the car is parked and shut off.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford fusion. while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the contact powered off the engine while in traffic. the vehicle was restarted, but the failure recurred numerous times. in addition, the contact heard a loud abnormal noise coming from the fuel tank area while driving. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. the manufacturer was not notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 35,000.
The 2015 fusion had a surge and the car jerked forward. my wife said that happened to her before. when it happened when i was in the car driving it we both looked at each other. this happened to us with the 2010 rav4 and the 2009 sienne that crashed into a tree. please check this car for a computer problem.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford fusion. while the vehicle was stationary, it would not start immediately after the vehicle was filled with fuel. in addition, while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact also stated that the check engine indicator remained illuminated. the dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
After the car has been off for some time. put the car in reverse. after reversing out of spot, etc. and put the car into "l"; upon moving forward, the engine starts racing and lurches uncontrollably forward. almost like the car is engine braking down a large hill, but no hill and is accelerating without applying brakes. this is the plug-in hybrid model. there is no incline when this happens.
The vehicle is a hybrid plus. it has a charge port. the vehicle will not accept a charge and check engine light is on. the entire wiring harness from front to back has to be replaced. this job requires complete removal of the entire interior. also ford has not been in contact with the dealer or myself in 5 days regarding this issue. this is the 3rd time it had been in the shop - first for a faulty dash and second for a bad ac compressor. - vehicle has 1600 miles on it.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving at 5 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle began to vibrate. the contact stated that an abnormal noise was coming from the rear of the vehicle. the contact also stated that the vehicle failed to restart. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the baffles failed and the fuel tank needed to be replaced. however, the vehicle was not repaired because the manufacturer advised the dealer that the noise and vibration was normal. the failure for the vehicle not being able to start was unable to be duplicated. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 2,000.
I purchased my vehicle in feb. 2015 and once i took the vehicle home a loud rattling noise began to sound of slowly. took my vehicle to ford dealer, i was told that the vehicle need a new exhaust system and muffler. the sales person that it came from factory that way. i took a second time because it made a loud emission noise and every time that the car was on. now the vehicle as me worried because if it is a brand new vehicle and since day one it has been making loud noises. will keep this updated in case if i have to take a third time. i will be letting the dealership know about the lemon law in california also.
