Steering system has completely locked on initial starting vehicle. car will shift into drive and reverse, but will not steer left or right. this happened on two occasions, 2/14 and 15/2020. steering will only become operational after car has become heated, after approximately 20 minutes. this all happened early morning hour of temperature of approximately 8 degrees. this also happened on my last ford fusion 2010, which i traded in for this ford fusion.

My car was parked and when i turned it back on i didn't have power steering. it has been diagnosed a ford dealer (dovi motors, cortland, ny) as my power steering gear motor detached due to the bolts corroding that resulted in a loss of power steering and unsafe driving. there is an active recall for the year/make/model of my car for this exact issue but my vin was not included in the recall (number 19s26). this recall needs to be re-evaluated to prevent injury to others affected.

I was driving back from grocery shopping when i lost control over steering. the moment when i lost control was during my slight right turn moving at speed of about 30mph i did not know what happened at the moment because i was more focused to not hit anyone presenr at that moment on the road. good thing is that school across the road was closed because timing when this happen was around the time when parents usually pick their kids for school. after i parked car i investigate to see what had happen. there were three messages indicating that something was wrong: 1. steering assist fault - service required, 2. service advancetrac and 3. hill start assist not available. i was searching today to see other people experiance and results were positive a lot of cases like this one. things that all reports have in common is that all owners needed to pay to fix car no option for recal. eventhough that models like this one used to have several things that needed to be changed on similat things in the past.

Driving steering eletric went out with out any warning kingsport tn took it to ford they told us what wrong

My steering wheel locked up when in the process of making a left turn on a city street at a braking speed of about 5 mph. i had no steering control and had i been going faster, on in traffic, or on the highway at 60 mph it would likely have been catastropic. in april 2018 i took the car to my dealership complaining of a frequent but inconstant "roar" coming from the front of the car. after testing nothing was found. i experienced the same "roar" a couple of times after. when i lost steering control i tried shifting gears from drive to reverse and got a very short wheel response, but lost it within 3 seconds. i pursued this repetitive process and, after a dozen attempts finally got the car off the road.

Recall # 18s20: hello there my shifter cable bushing which has been named in a recall failed last thursday. i was backing out of my drive way with my kids in the car and the car got stuck in park, however the car was rolling and the display said the car was in neutral. i put the brake on and set the parking brake before turning the car off. i looked under the hood and sure enough the shifter cable was visible and disconnected from the transmission. i googled a picture of the part just to confirm and was able to determine that the white pieces and corrosion that were left behind were remnants of the cable bushing which looks like a white bead. the recall number is 18s20 and the notice instructs me to go to the local dealer to have this replaced. i contacted two local ford dealers as instructed and they do not have the part. they stated that they would contact me when its available and the have no eta on part availability, however my vehicle is not drivable while i am waiting. i am a single parent with school aged children and i have to work and cannot afford a rental and there are no loaner cars being offered. i have two jobs and i had to resign from one job due to the inconvenience as the hours are late and there isn't any transportation available after a certain time.

Recall number:18s20 nhtsa recall number:18v471 on july 20,2018 approximately 3:45am i pulled in a parking lot i put my car in park and went to get out of my vehicle and my vehicle began to roll backwards almost running over my foot as i was exiting my vehicle , i immediately jumped back inside terrified and held my foot on the brake while having an panic attack. i sat for hours holding my foot on the brake because i couldn't breathe and couldn't think when i finally could catch my breath after several phone call attempts i finally got a relative on the phone and asked what to do, they suggested putting my emergency brake on until i could contact my dealership which didn't open until 9:30am. after testing i received a phone call saying the bushings that attach the shifter cable to the transmission had detached from the transmission causing my vehicle to be in park but stuck in reverse causing the vehicle to roll backwards without me knowing because i think it's in park and there's no sign of me knowing it's stuck in reverse except when it started to roll away and almost over me as i was getting out. this has been such an big inconvenience for me this has caused me to miss work from 7/20/2018-7/24/2018 because i had no transportation to work (my commute to work is 1.5 hours), my son was not able to go to childcare, ect. and ford has offered me no help because they say the replacement bushings aren't even in production yet. ford is telling me there is nothing they can do because the recall is not active yet so now i have to lose my job, only income, my bills have become delinquent due to me not having transportation to and from work this is not right and ford should not treat customers this way and should accommodate me until they figure out a solution this recall should have been handled in a more timely manner im paying money for a car and i have no transportation.

On july 5th when i got in my vehicle to go to work i tried to start the car and at first it wouldn't start. tried again and the car started and then many warning lights flashed on the dashboard. power steering assist fault and traction control on. and told o service immediately.i tried backing out of my garage but steering wheel was completely locked up and unable to steer. had the car towed to dealership after 5 days was called back and was told the he power steering rack would have to be replaced and the battery was bad too. for a total cost of $2600. from other reports online his happens frequently with fusions. there was a recall for the steering rack by my model was not included. only 42,000 miles on car with regular driving and parked in garage when not in use. vehicle should not have failed this quickly. if i was driving when this happened i would have had not control and most likely would have crashed.

2015 ford fusion 's' (epas) defect. 50,200 miles on odometer at time of occurrence. vehicle was stationary. fusion's 2.5l engine (cold) would not start after being at rest for eight hours. display depicted "power steering assist fault" and "service advance trac". vehicle would not start, even with (proper) jump. all interior and exterior lighting was very bright. towed to ford dealership. i was told by service manager that battery was "going bad" and told of $2086.00 fix to the epas (alone). i was not previously having any steering issues or concerns. notified ford inc. and was issued a "cas" case number and told to look for an email from them in two days with their resolution decision, if any. i am not optimistic. vehicle was properly maintained and always garaged. several of my service visits were at multiple ford dealerships, so maybe that will help my case. a two thousand dollar repair, on a "garage kept" three year old car, with 50k miles, albeit out of 3/36 warranty, is simply not acceptable. luckily, no one in my family was injured/killed by this defect. sadly, ford's refusal to acknowledge this problem will obviously cost lives down the road, due to epas failure, not to mention future sales.

Moved my transmission from drive to park and it got stuck in park. tried to move it back to drive but transmission wouldn't shift. in car the transmission shifts to drive but it doesn't move
