Problems with 2015 Ford Fusion UNKNOWN OR OTHER

On average, the 2015 Ford Fusion starts to “feel” problems with the UNKNOWN OR OTHER and its various aspects after 36 582 miles.

Recently reported UNKNOWN OR OTHER problems on 2015 Ford Fusion

The trunk of my 2015 ford fusion will open without notice. it first happened while in my garage, but has also happened while driving down the road, which made it difficult to see out the back window. when back in my garage i turned the car off. within a few minutes the trunk opened on its own. when i went to check to see if i could figure out what was going on, i could hear the trunk release 'triggering' automatically. this random trunk opening occurred both when the car was in motion and stationary in the garage.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford fusion. the contact stated that the vehicle exhibited multiple failures. the vehicle lost power independently and the brake pedal failed to engage while driving. also, after fueling the vehicle, the engine failed to start. furthermore, when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle would not accelerate. the vehicle was taken to elk grove ford (9645 auto center drive, elk grove, ca 95757, (916) 478-7000) where it was determined that the windshield wiper fluid penetrated the brake fluid. the brake lines, calipers, and the battery were replaced twice; however, the repairs did not correct the failures and the vehicle continued to stall. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer, but they could not duplicate the failures. the manufacturer was not contacted. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was not available.

As i was driving on highway doing 55 mph, my ford fusin 2015 wrench light came on and seat belt light along with car loosing power. power dropped down to under 20mph and had to place emergency blinkers on to pull over to side of highway barely made it. taken to dealership no codes were found to indicate the problem and could not be duplicated. battery was replaced due to next day the battery was dead. 2 weeks later , while driving on the street going 35 mph same issue occurred . the rpm reved up and dropped down along with wrench light and seat belt light coming n. back to the dealership no codes stored to indicate the issue. this is very scary to lose power while driving and may cause an accident or even death. there are alot of complaints regarding this matter, you would think ford would do something about it, unfortunately nothing has been done yet. maybe someone has to be dead for them to take it into consideration. i'm going to purchase a chevy!! be safe everyone!!!

Takata recall. car sputters as if running out of gas before stalling. happens sometimes after driving a few hundred feet and other times after being driven for miles. idles fine in park or neutral. engine light doesn't come on. computer shows no codes. when recranking, engine turns over several times and cranks without key being held in on position. this repeats a few times and then car drives fine. has happened while stationary, in motion, and turning. always at low starting speeds.

Vehicle shut off without warning, notice on monitor said "transmission not in park" this happened 3 times within a 10 minute period. the first time i was accelerating coming from a stopped position while at a stop light. the two occurrences following that the vehicle was in motion.

My 2015/ford fusion is halted in neutral but the gearshift is stuck in park and i can't move it. it happened after i pulled into my parking spot and shifted the gearshift to park. i noticed the light indicator did not go to p but rather stayed at n and when i took my foot off the brake the car started moving. i have my vehicle's emergency brake on in order to prevent it from moving but due to the time of day fords in my area are closed and cannot offer help. my vehicle does have a safety recall for this exact issue and i attempted to get it fixed in august along with another recall but the dealership told me they were backed up on the parts to fix this issue and that they would notify me when they had the parts.

I received a class action settlement on takata airbag

My vehicle makes a noise while driving and this noise comes from the gas tank. it is like a honk sound. to stop the sound, i have to stop the vehicle, open the gas tank and let the air/pressure inside the gas thank out. the smell is some kind of burnt engine or wire. after i have let the air/pressure out, engine warning light turns on for few hours and goes off. there are lots of customers with this same issue and reported this issue. informed this issue to ford and they asked me to get diagnostics done on the vehicle and call them back. i did get the diagnostics done on the vehicle, technician said that there is a problem with the canister purge valve and he explained me something about the pressure which i couldn't understand. so i called ford back and informed them that this is the issue and asked them to help me with it. they said they cant do anything because it had nothing to do with any recall program or any rebate program active based on the given mileage. i begged ford to please check online that there are so many customer with the same complaint. the supervisor said she cannot do anything. i am requesting nhtsa to please do an enquiry on this issue and help the people who are suffering. thank you.

I was notified of recall 18s20 for my for fusion around mid august. on august 29, after getting gas the shifter would shift to drive but the car would not shift at all and therefore we were unable to drive it. my husband was able to get it to manually shift by tinkering with the engine shift, and we were able to put it in drive and drove to north central ford in richardson texas. there we were told that it was the recall issue but they would be unable to fix it or help us because they did not have the go ahead form ford motor company or the parts. however, they said that if we paid full price to fix it, $700 dollars, they would be able to fix it for us and when ford approved the fix then we would be reimbursed. we didn't have the $700, so the manager jim ayo explained that there was nothing they could do. this resulted in loss of wages for a full day's job and a car that is not running or usable. i am baffled at the fact that it is a ford issue from a recall but i am expected to fix it. the approximate fix timeframe is july 2018 or after. i would like a solution asap as this is my vehicle for traveling to work.

Ford currently has a recall on 2013-2016 ford fusions (safety recall 18s20/nhtsa recall 18v471) where the transmission cable becomes disconnected from the transmission causing the auto to roll. when the cable is disconnected the vehicle can be in park from the thinks its in neutral. my fusion was parked in my driveway rolled backwards down my drive and down my street and in and out of neighbor's driveways. when i tried to intervene and stop the vehicle, i was knocked down and the vehicle ran over my leg. when the vehicle was stopped the vehicle was in park but the dashboard showed in neutral.

I have received a safety recall notice 'safety recall notice 18s20/ nhtsa recall 18v471. on aug 15, 2018 my car's shifter became stuck on the park position however the notification on the dash board stated 'transmission not on park.' i had my car towed to the david w. wilson's villaford on aug 16, 2018 at 9:56am. the dearler stated that they would have my car diagnosed and if it was the recalled part then they would let me know what options i had. the dealer still did not have a diagnosis for me as of 10:09am on aug 17,2018 which is when i decided to call customer relations at ford michigan's headquarters. i had a case made with the ford headquarters which resulted in the dealership notifying me that i could have a rental from them while they contacted the ford headquarters about how to move forward. the dealership then stated that this was an advanced recall which ford headquarters is not yet covering and because they are contracted they would not pay out of pocket to provide me with any assistance to help the situation. once i asked why this recall isn't being covered they changed their story saying it wasn't intact the recalled part but a cable. i called ford headquarters again and they and asked the ford dealership to check if they had any resources to help me since the new part was note yet available. the dealership stated that ford was not going to cover anything for this recall yet and because of this i would need to pay out of pocket for a rental or to have my car repaired even though per ford headquarters, there is still no replacement for the recalled part yet. ford headquarters stated this was an issue with the recalled part but they are not yet covering the recall so the only option for me wouldn't be to pay for a rental car out of pocket and once the part arrived i could get my car fixed (however any fees for the rental would not be covered).

The shifter cable failed to engage and my car was stuck in reverse and began backing up while gear said it was in park. i turned car off and it would no longer crank because gear was showing in reverse. i contacted dealership regarding recall and they said i had to pay for it. recall number is 18v471

Recall number:18s20 nhtsa recall number:18v471 on july 20,2018 approximately 3:45am i pulled in a parking lot i put my car in park and went to get out of my vehicle and my vehicle began to roll backwards almost running over my foot as i was exiting my vehicle , i immediately jumped back inside terrified and held my foot on the brake while having an panic attack. i sat for hours holding my foot on the brake because i couldn't breathe and couldn't think when i finally could catch my breath after several phone call attempts i finally got a relative on the phone and asked what to do, they suggested putting my emergency brake on until i could contact my dealership which didn't open until 9:30am. after testing i received a phone call saying the bushings that attach the shifter cable to the transmission had detached from the transmission causing my vehicle to be in park but stuck in reverse causing the vehicle to roll backwards without me knowing because i think it's in park and there's no sign of me knowing it's stuck in reverse except when it started to roll away and almost over me as i was getting out. this has been such an big inconvenience for me this has caused me to miss work from 7/20/2018-7/24/2018 because i had no transportation to work (my commute to work is 1.5 hours), my son was not able to go to childcare, ect. and ford has offered me no help because they say the replacement bushings aren't even in production yet. ford is telling me there is nothing they can do because the recall is not active yet so now i have to lose my job, only income, my bills have become delinquent due to me not having transportation to and from work this is not right and ford should not treat customers this way and should accommodate me until they figure out a solution this recall should have been handled in a more timely manner im paying money for a car and i have no transportation.

The shifter on my car reads park but the actual gear it is in is neutral. i've taken the car to supreme ford in slidell, but was told the party's to fix the recall weren't in. i then called the corporate office and was told i would have to pay for a diagnostic before getting the recall fixed on my vehicle. i thought my car was in park one night and it ended up rolling into someone's driveway by the time i woke up the next morning.

After getting recall notice, called local dealer ourisman ford 3 times trying to schedule a repair, each time being reffered to a a "recall specialist" that either goes to voice mail or never calls me back. they will not schedule the repair

Moved my transmission from drive to park and it got stuck in park. tried to move it back to drive but transmission wouldn't shift. in car the transmission shifts to drive but it doesn't move

My 2015 ford fusion has difficulty changing gears while driving, specifically shifting from first to second, then second to third. also, rough shifting from park to reverse with my foot on the brake. the latest incident was when i moved the gear shift from park to reverse and the car did not shift into gear. i put it back into park, then into reverse again and it shifted. i drive it home, very slowly, and had it towed to the dealership the next morning. ford corporate is involved, after four months of me asking for a new transmission, and they have not informed me of a conclusive decision on what they are going to do. i am afraid for my life to drive this vehicle, and have told the dealership and ford corporate so multiple times. the car isn't generating any codes, and they have, so far, refused to put a new transmission and associated parts in the vehicle. i do not qualify for the lemon laws in my state because i am the second owner of the vehicle. however, i purchased it as a certified pre-owned vehicle from what i thought was a reputable dealer. in dealing with this dealership, i have come to realize that the dealer is worthless and shady. i'm working with another dealer now, and they seem to be a bit better. ford corporate is refusing to take responsibility for the issues with this deathtrap they sold me, and i'm struggling to get out of the car even though it's been in the shop five times now for the same issue. my car is still under warranty. they have replaced several items, but the car drives more roughly after every "repair" attempt. i want out of this deathtrap, and i want ford to give me all of my money back that i paid for it. word to the wise, don't ever buy a ford.

My 2015 fusion se gear will not shift. it is stuck and reverse. tried to shift gears and now that my car is not in park engine will not turn on. i just got my car two months ago. a relative also had this problem and was told it could be the shift cable.

In the last 6 months my car has suddenly stopped wile i'm driving it 4 times, i have been lucky that i have not had any accidents, i have been researching online and there is a lot of people complaining about the same issue

Driver(wwii vet) had to push connect phone on three different locations while driving at interstate speed..putting 3 lives in jepordy..please dismantle this feature like the address you can enter when searching for a location till the car stops--completely unsafe and rediculous..also the car makers havent got it right yet after 100 yrs. on determining the correct location of controls--consistancy does pay off, it sure does when it comes to selling vehicles by them not being consistant and you crash and have to keep them in business buying their parts and repair from their company..signed-passenger-backseat, havent drove since 2012--and auto makers don't deserve it.

Imagine driving at normal speed when suddenly you suffer complete engine power loss. the power steering, braking, lighting and climate control systems remain fully functional so you have no clear clue on what is occurring, however you know the vehicle no longer remains operational and you come to a complete stop in the middle of the road.

Car rolls backwards while in park. only way to stop it is to engage parking brake. even tried turning the car off and then on again and it still does it.

Car stopped dead while driving 65 miles an hour on hightway. i was able to get car over to side of road and tried to start car it stalled out multiple times once started engine light went on. brought to dealer who only replaced battery. car engine light still going on and it is still stalling. this is the 2nd time in 6 months this has happend to this ford fusion it is only 2 years old.

I am filing this complaint due the number of documented occurrences of sun roofs cracking or exploding on ford fusion and other ford branded vehicles. on 9/1/2017 while opening the sun roof heard pop sound. the sun roof opened about 5 inches. i returned it to the closed position and found the sun roof cracked in a rectangular pattern across the entire glass. the car had been parked from 9:00 am pst until 5:00 pm pst at my work site with all 4 windows cracked about 1/2 to 1 inch. as well i noticed that on the backseat driver side the head liner had detached from roof and below weather stripping. attempted to push it back up but it will not stay after the sunroof cracked. entering the car i rolled all windows down, turned on ac which was set at 64 degrees and then attempted to open the sun roof before driving off. all windows and open sun roof was to help evacuate warm air that remained in the car as it was parked during the day. currently the car has 9961 miles on the odometer. care is driven about 6 miles monday - friday from my home to work and back.

While driving, my vehicle overheated. checked coolant level, and it was less than half full. i refilled coolant to recommended level, and proceeded to drive. two weeks later, it overheated again, and my coolant was low again. refilled and monitored for leaks. no leaks. then vehicle began misfiring. diagnosed with cylinder 3 misfire. replaced spark plugs and coil packs. still misfiring. rediagnosed with cylinder 3 misfire. then it just died. would not start. acted as though it was flooding. diagnosed with no additional issues by dealership. then discovered tsb for a bolt that was backing out of the intercooler and into the manifold. this issue was allowing coolant to flood the manifold and cause misfiring. got that fixed as well as the catalytic converter and turbo unit for the car which were damaged as a result of the coolant issue. $5,000 in repairs for a manufacturing defect that could have left my family and i stranded in the desert heat without a/c or in the sub-zero snowy mountains without heat since the vehicle would not even start. as a family, we travel extensively. this is definitely a safety issue!!!!!

Takata recall: on my way home i would be sitting at the light. and then all of a sudden the car wouldn't move. it had just shut off on me. then after a while the check engine light would come on, but then it would got out. then a week or two later the car started to make a noise and then it would shut off, with out me physically doing so. i would have to put the car in park, turn the car off, wait a few minutes and then start it up again. and the car would run as if nothing had happened. this would happen more often when i'm in rush hour ( stop and go traffic). then i figured maybe if i took the hwy home it wouldn't do that. no such luck. as i was just about to get off at the exit i needed it made that same noise again. i had just got off the hwy onto a busy street (during rush hour). i was in the right turning lane and couldn't go anywhere for a few seconds. so until i was able to get it fixed i would have to take the side streets just in case it happened again. at least on a side street i'll have time to pull over out of the way of traffic to let the car sit for a second to readjust itself. this would happen every so often, until we had a chance to get it fixed.

The volume on the reverse sensing system is to low. with the radio on it is barely noticeable. i owned another ford that i traded in on this car and the volume was nice and loud. i contacted ford via their web page and they could not help me. the customer service agent did not know if the volume could be adjusted .

I bought my car in october of 2015 (it was pre-owned) after a couple of months i started noticing that the car unexpectedly turns off with a message saying, "transmission not in park" on the dashboard so i immediately turn off the car and start it back up and everything works fine for a month than this happens again. i call ford customer care multiple times and they tell me to take the car to the dealership and have them do a diagnosis of the car, they do, and say "we can't find anything wrong", in the following month the car shuts off with the same message popping up on the dashboard. i do the same process and before. i even call customer care again and they tell me the same thing, so i take it back to the dealership and they also tell me the same exact thing. the third time it does it again i call customer care and they still tell me the same thing, but this time i refused to take it to the dealership. now, i drive for uber and i had a passenger with me at the time that happened. i was unable to stop the car because the breaks seemed to be locked. at this point i was driving now a hill.

I have the steering issues from defective eps programming that causes pulling to either side. the wipers don't work properly. the seats are hard and positioned wrong. the vehicle is too low. the rear makes a helicopter noise if i open the window while driving. the trans vibrates the car in eco but also shifts very hard in sport. the vehicle shut off while driving more than once. the list of problems go on and on.

Alert tones emitted by the reverse sensing system and cross-traffic alert system are so low they are nearly inaudible with the radio off and they are inaudible with the radio on.

There is a defect in the wiper and/or windshield design - it is extremely hard to see when it is raining, even just moderately raining, and even with the wiper speed on high. i can't tell if the wipers are too slow, if the angle of the windshield promotes water retention, or if the problem is with the wiper mechanism design (instead of going the same direction, the wipers start in the middle and go separate directions to the outside edge). furthermore, every time the wipers make a pass there appears to be a film on the glass that takes a few seconds to clear ' it looks splotchy, and isn't affected by temp/defrost at all. at night when passing another car or under street lights this makes a terrible glare, and of course the faster your wipers are going, the more "film" there will be because there's no time for it to clear between passes. i bought this car with 16 miles on it and noticed it the very first time i had to drive in the rain (i'm now at 7500 miles). between the inadequate prevention of water accumulation and the strange film, this car is very dangerous to drive in the rain, especially at night. beyond this, i have noticed for quite a while that the exhaust/muffler makes a loud vibration noise, and at times the transmission shifts very hard when applying brakes (downshift) or when first accelerating.

My 2015 ford fusion was parked outside in our company's parking lot in the morning and upon returning to the car in the afternoon (temp was in the 90's) there was a crack across the sunroof from left to right. although the sunroof did not explode while driving and no one touched the car while it was parked, this should be investigated as a widespread defect in the manufacturing of the glass used in ford's sunroofs as it poses a safety hazard if something like this happens while driving or if it shatters, showering the driver with glass.

On more than three occasions, the vehicle's engine has abruptly shut down while driving or coming to complete stop when the gear was in the drive position. this has also occurred while driving over 60 mph on the expressway and it poses a grave danger and safety risk. when the incidents occurred the console display read "transmission not in park". after the first two incidents, the vehicle was returned to rod baker ford in joliet, illinois for service (purchase location). they stated that they could not identify the problem, but i believe that they did not contact ford or take the necessary steps to fix this serious defect. most recently on june 22, 2015, the vehicle's engine shut down while coming to a stop when the gear was in drive......there is a serious and potentially life-threatening defect with my 2015 ford fusion and it must be repaired or replaced. i also suggest that ford be informed to ensure that other affected vehicles are either repaired or replaced. ...updated 09/08/15 *bf updated 10/26/2017*cn

The car was parked for 7 days without being driven and on the 8th day i went to use it and i could not open the door with the remote control. i was able to open it with the manual door key. i tried to start the car but there was no light on the dash board instrument and car did not start. there was no sound of the starter motor. i turned on the radio and it was dead nothing on the radio panel. i realized that the battery may be dead. i opened the hood and measure the battery with a digital multi-meter and there was only 2 v dc - the battery needed to have 12 v dc to start the engine. since i had a battery, i charged the battery for 3 hours and then i was able to start the engine. i used the car for 4 days and left it park for 8 days to see if that would happen again - but it did not. i said to myself that if i had left the car at the airport for a week and i may not be able to get home with the 2015 ford fusion. i said to myself that telling it to the dealer and they may not believe me so that is why i am writing this report to nhtsa.

Nhtsa recall 15v250; ford recall 15s14. i bought this car approximately 3 years ago and they have yet to offer a repair for this recall.

While driving on hwy 27a at 65 mph [xxx] reached under the steering column, bumping the ignition switch. this bump caused the motor to cut off. [xxx] was able to pull off the road and restart the vehicle. this happened again in our driveway. [xxx] had pulled out of the garage and placed the vehicle in park as [xxx] explained where the steering wheel adjustment was located. when [xxx] reached under the steering column he bumped the ignition switch or keys and the motor cut off. we returned the vehicle to the our garage and contacted ford of ocala for a service appt. on 5/2 we delivered the car to ford/ocala. [xxx] said they couldn't fix the problem we explained. then [xxx] got into the car with ms. leathers keys and repeated shut the vehicle off by bumping the key/ignition switch. [xxx] was another employee in the shop who witnessed this happening. [xxx] said he needed to contact troubleshooting and that couldn't happen until monday. 5/4 i contacted ford/ocala and they informed me that the work was done, under warranty, and that they changed the keychain and that fixed the problem. only the key chain we were using when we witnessed the shutdown was not the one ford/ocala had. i spoke to [xxx] at ford customer relations and she said we could test our key chain and the modified key chain in the fusion. [xxx] went on 5/8 to try the vehicle, with the modified key chain and [xxx], the service mgr in the passenger seat. again, [xxx] reached under the steering column, bumped the ignition switch/key chain and the motor cut off. [xxx] responded that the car was suppose to work like that. she then said we had to get the car off their lot. the vehicle is dangerous and no one should drive it. the car is still at ford of ocala. the ignition switch if bumped can cut the motor off. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

1st off i'll start with the worse to lease problems, the trans shifting very slowly and hard, the car is too low and hits everytime to a driveway is entered at a mall or any parking lot and is too low for chicago winters, the seats are very cheap and get stains from drops of water, car rides hard and noisy especially the rear, poor stereo sound, very slow acceleration, electronic steering makes the vehicle difficult to control and hard to stay straight in lane, and everything's in the wrong place (arm rest too low to reach steering wheel, seat to low or far away to reach pedals and on long trips wears the driver out from fighting the vehicle. own a 2005 taurus that made me a repeat buyer but this will be my last ford and toyota, hyundai as well as some other car companies are just too problematic to ever purchase again due to all the new trans and steering problems combined with the poor craftsmanship make older vehicle look so good now.

I was driving southbound on i-75 almost to perrysburg in the middle lane and my car completely shut off. my car was still in drive, but all the lights on my dash went black and when i pressed on the gas pedal i wasn't going anywhere. there was a truck next to me in the right hand lane, i waited for it to pass and then got over. i finally made it to the shoulder and put my car in park. i then waited a couple minutes and restarted my car.

Car was sold to us while under a recall notice 14c11 from last year without either correcting the problem before selling us the car or informing us of the recall. we got a postcard last week from ford headquarters about the recall. *tr

I purchased my vehicle in feb. 2015 and once i took the vehicle home a loud rattling noise began to sound of slowly. took my vehicle to ford dealer, i was told that the vehicle need a new exhaust system and muffler. the sales person that it came from factory that way. i took a second time because it made a loud emission noise and every time that the car was on. now the vehicle as me worried because if it is a brand new vehicle and since day one it has been making loud noises. will keep this updated in case if i have to take a third time. i will be letting the dealership know about the lemon law in california also.

I like many others am complaining about the key fob/ignition issue. i am 5ft9 and a heavier guy. i bought this care for my wife but i drive from it from time to time. on multiple occasions while driving both on the road and backing out of my driveway my knee or leg has bumped the key and it has turned the car off. i dread to think about the damage or death that issue can cause on the highway or interstate. if the key turns off while driving, this can cause transmission issues and death. a key should not be able to rotate as easy as it does on the fusion. i have had owned many cars and i have never seen a key turn in the ignition as easy as this. also the fan is very loud when the car is turned on. this key issue should be a recall now before people die.
