Recently reported STRUCTURE problems on 2014 Ford Fusion

The passenger door wont latch on. i opened it to get out and as i closed the door it stayed open, i tried again and it did not want to work, i figured the latch might of gone bad and i checked and several fusion had recalls for this but mine did not.

Its been 3 years since i have had my car and i have not been notified by ford that i have a recall. not by phone, email, or even in person. the only reason i know i have three is because of my family member who notified me. i have called multiple ford dealerships to complain and get it fixed but they don't seem to want to help. every time i go or call they take my number and that is it. so i just keep going trusting they will call me back. and this week my car starts to have troubles and my transmission hard shifts into second gear and i damage the front and bumper of my car. i took it to my local mechanic and he says the problem comes from the recalled part. and now my car is parked until i can get it fixed and i have called ford and they wont help.

The rear passenger doors latch will not work the keep door closed. i just got home from town and un buckeled my 4 yr old daughter and when i went to close the door it wouldnt stay shut. the happend around around 3:50 pm on 11/07/2019 i will be taking it to our local ford dealership tomorrow morning

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. the contact stated that the front passenger door failed to close and was inoperable. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the contact called phil long ford of denver at (303) 557-5913 (7887 w tufts ave, denver, co 80123) and informed them of the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. the contacted stated that the failure was similar to nhtsa campaign number: 15v246000 (latches/locks/linkages). the failure mileage was 60,000.

10/3/19 my 17 years old daughter drove her 2014 ford fusion home to change for work. upon leaving to drive to work her driver door would not latch to stay closed. called the local ford dealership to be told the vin number was not part of a recall. had the door fixed with a reliable mechanic, $386.59. picked the car up on 10/6/19. my daughter drove to a friend's house, picking up two friend's, one riding in the front passenger side and the other in the rear driver side. while making a turn, the rear driver side door flew open while driving in the residential neighborhood, startling her friend. thankfully, they had not gotten to the highway yet! another return trip to the mechanic, $594.66. i am aware of issues with ford fusion and lincoln mkz from 2013 to 2014 and ford fiesta from 2011 to 2014 regarding defective latches allowing doors to open unexpectedly. if this is a concern with the nhtsa to take safety precautions, why is our vin not part of a recall? clearly it is a known problem with ford and we should be protected by them. attached are photos of the defective part missing the plastic piece to hold the bolt in place to secure the door to be closed. to have this happen to two doors within days of each other and not to be a part of a recall is unacceptable. what's it going to take, a serious injury or death??*dt *tp

I have experienced an issue with my door latch on my vehicle twice. the first time the issue occurred was about 2 years ago on my front driver side door. the door latch remained open and did not lock shut when closing the door. this resulted in the door remaining open. when researching the issue i found that a recall for the same problem had been issued on 2013-2015 ford fusions. i called the dealership and they stated that my vin number was not covered in the issue. i ended up paying $300 out of pocket for this problem. this last week i had this same issue occur on my rear passenger side door. i called the dealership and ford customer service and they again stated that the recall did not extend to my vin number and would not replace the door latches on my car. i will again be paying out of pocket for this issue, but further my concern is that this issue could happen again, and perhaps while driving as it has affected other cars with this recall issue. i would be devastated if this occurred with my family in the car and caused an accident. please let me know if there is a way to extend this recall issue to my vin number.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. while driving approximately 50 mph, one of the rear doors suddenly opened on its own. after stopping the vehicle, the driver discovered that the door would not remain closed. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. cosa ford (5815 montana ave, el paso, tx) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 17v210000 (structure). the contact stated that the vehicle experienced the same failure listed in the recall. the failure mileage was 69,858.

Rear driver side door latch and/or components failed to function, causing the door to swing open while the vehicle was in motion.*dt*jb

Door latch broken, prevents door from locking closed even while driving.

Both my rear door latches have failed causing the door to be unable to be closed shut, and this has happened suddenly once with my son in the back seat next to the door. the door becomes unable to be closed and will swing open upon turns etc. this was a major recall of similar ford fusion models in the 2014 manufacturer year for some reason my vin did not pop up for this particular recall but clearly it should have been and needs to be added to this existing recall so i can get this resolved by the company.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. upon inspection of the vehicle by an independent mechanic, it was discovered that the front hood was rusting. the contact called capital ford lincoln of rocky mount (2012 stone rose dr, rocky mount, nc 27804, (252) 977-1234) from where the vehicle was purchased; however, a response was not received. the manufacturer was notified and referred the contact to nhtsa. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 95,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. the contact stated that the rear driver's door failed to remain closed. the contact called barber ford (located at 640 e 8th st, holland, mi 49423, (616) 396-2361) and was informed that the vin was not included in a recall. the contact also called borgman ford mazda (located at 3150 28th st sw, grandville, mi 49418, (616) 534-7651) and was informed that the vin was a salvage title and was not eligible for the repair. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer and was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to nhtsa. the approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

Ford recall 15s16 / nhtsa 17v210 occurred in may 2017 and we had door latch broken pawl spring tab replaced on all 4 doors as require by the recall. in june 2019, the front passenger door failed again and we took it in for service. they replaced the one door latch mechanism and we were charged $100 for that replacement which was the deductible on our extended warranty. we opened up a three cases with ford and autonation ford dealer in houston. cases 21829217, 21915875 and 21893152. we feel that ford should refund our $100 and replace the other 3 latches once again, which they refuse to do and they closed out the cases. verbal discussions with ford and with autonation have proved futile. when the latch fails, we cannot close the door securely which is a serious safety issue. we have elderly parents and small grandchildren who ride in this car quite often. since the passenger door latch failed in june of this year, we think the others will fail again as well which leaves us feeling very unsafe.

Door flew open while proceeding through a turn at a city intersection. discovered door latch had broken. research revealed recall #17v210000 which dealerships refused to repair under the recall notice indicating this car's vin was not included in the notice even though it was specifically for 2014 ford fusion. upon calling ford customer service, they advised the same but if it happens to another car in the same area, they may issue another recall at which point, they'd refund the repair costs. recall details indicate a component within the door latches may break resulting in the doors not securing misleading occupants to believe that a door is secure when it is not. dealer replaced all four door latches at contact's expense. the cost to repair was approximately $350.*dt*jb

The driver door swung open while i was driving on a city street. i attempted to close the door, but it did not latch. i had to drive back home with an unlatched door, holding it in place with one arm to prevent it from swinging out again. *dt*jb

Door will not latch closed. the vehicle was stationary when discovered. it appears to be a spring or gear mechanism behind the latch that isn't working. articles say this vehicle should be covered by recall, but manufacturer says it isn't. noticing other complaints regarding door latches not latching, so this recall should be expanded. *dt*jb

I have a 2014 ford fusion with 38,000 miles on it. the driver's door won't close. there's a safety recall (15s16) on this issue. i took the car to surprise ford (with the door roped shut), and they told me that the recall doesn't cover my vin. they told me to open a case with ford, so i did cas[xxx]. ford told me the same thing. how can they not cover my vin (and others like mine) if my vehicle is experiencing the issue? i think coverage of this will force ford to do the right thing and expand their recall before someone gets hurt. what if the door flew open in traffic? contact stated driver' front latch was replaced. Was driving and made a turn and my driver door flew open

My passenger door will not latch or stay shut. my vin didn't recognize the recall. after further research my situation seems identical to fords recall 15s16 or ( 17v-210) ford recalled 390k vehicles spanning the year my vehicle was produced. i believe my vehicle is affected by a faulty door latch that ford has failed to recall. the vehicle was stationary when this occurred however the door will not latch under any condition now. i have to use a ratchet strap to keep the door shut.

Door latches have broken while vehicle is in motion, causing the door to swing open and refuse to close entirely.two separate instances of this occurring on different doors within months of each other.*dt consumer stated both driver front side and the driver rear door was repaired.*jb

2014 ford fusion. consumer writes in regards to corrosion on vehicle. *ld the consumer stated the manufacturer was made aware of the corrosion. the manufacturer denied assistance due to the vehicle being out of warranty. *js

I was driving going 25 miles a hour on 9/28/2018 and the front door just open up by its self witch a is know issue with ford and door latches and they keep saying my vin# is not part of this witch the dealership acknowledges and said it should be this is the second door in the last 3months to do this in chandler az witch is unsafe to me and the people who could be around me

The rear passenger door lock does not hold. you can close the door but the latch does not hold the door closed. the car was parked and when we opened and tried to shut the door, it would not stay closed.

First the driver side passenger door open up in the middle of driving in june of 2018 and now september of 2018 the driver side door fly open in the middle of driving door not latch major issue and ford fuses to take responseaity for the bad product when this is major issue and know the issue the dealership has acknowledge this and this should be a recall

Passanger rear door won't stay closed

My driver rear door latch is broke witch is known issue on 2014 ford fusion and there have been two different recall and they are trying to say my vin is not part of the recall and want me to pay it broke on it's own and in safe and something should be done when contact ford they refuse to help

2014 ford fusion my car has had many recalls all of them fixed promptly my passanger side door wont close there is a recall for this problem but not for my car it is a 2014 fusion sitting and a stop sign in this little town my son opens the door to spit when he shuts it wont close

1. when pumping gasoline, the lever clicks off every 1-2 seconds, taking long time to fill gas tank, and never knowing if over-filling. i must repeatedly turn the ignition on/off/on in order to see the gas gauge. 2. the body dents easily.

Vehicle door spring. door may come open at any given time while driving or not driving.there's a recall on this car.

The drivers side front door latch failed, and so the driver's door will not latch closed. when driving, the door must be held closed by the driver (i resorted to tying a rope from the driver's side door handle to the passenger side in order to get the car home). when taking right turns, if not properly secured by the driver's arm, the door will fly open which could lead to the driver being ejected from the moving vehicle. after the door initially failed, i contacted the nearest ford dealer about getting the car repaired and was told the existing door latch recall did not apply to my vehicle and that they had no parts in stock for a repair. ford issued a recall for faulty door latches on specific 2014 fusion models. mine apparently was not one of them, but still suffers from the same faulty door latch design. the existing recall needs to be expanded to properly cover all fusions (and the other affected ford/lincoln models) with these inferior door latches suffering from faulty "pawl springs". inquiries to the parts departments of two local ford authorized dealers have not been fruitful; the part is apparently out of stock at all dealers in the state of arizona and there is no eta on a replacement. an inquiry to an online outlet called ford parts giant shows the part number given to me by the dealer to be discontinued. that part is ae8z-5421813-e, door lock actuator. i contacted ford motor company customer service in an attempt to locate a proper replacement part somewhere in the united states, but they were unable to provide any useful information.

We purchased our 2014 ford fusion from leckner ford of king george va on june 20, 2017. vehicle details are as follows:vin: [xxx], manufacture date: 12/13/13, manufacture location: flat rock, az, mileage: 25,300 the headliner is sagging on the vehicle partially blocking the rear window and hanging down on the driver?s side front door. online research determined that ford motor company is indeed aware of this issue but has not taken action to correct the parts failure to date. now aware that ford motor company knows of the sagging headliner issue with the 2014-2015 ford fusion, i contacted the dealer and was advised to open a ford customer care case. the service director at leckner ford felt that opening a customer care case, having loyalty points as a repeat customer and the vehicle just being outside of the warranty could all contribute to a successful outcome with ford. on july 19, 2017 i contacted the ford customer care center at 800-392-3673 and opened case reference no: 12746787. i was told that i would be provided a response via e-mail by end of day on friday, july 20, 2017. approximately 10 minutes after completing the call with ford, i received a solicitation e-mail asking if i wanted to receive e-mails from ford stating verbatim ?recently, we received your information and to keep you informed we?d like to send you e-mails filled with news on the latest technologies, events, offers, service coupons and more.? oddly enough i never received a response to my customer care case as promised. i contacted the care center on july 25th and was informed that my request was denied?period. no explanation, no point of escalation, no options. ford is better than this. ford is aware that this issue occurred and continues to occur in their flat rock manufacturing plant as can be found on any number of websites available to consumers. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

The passenger side door latch failed, causing the door to open while driving on a residential street. this happened only 3 months after the driver's side door latch also failed. my 2014 ford fusion is not currently included in the already existing recall of the faulty door latches. ford will not reimburse or cover the expenses to have either door latch fixed. this is a serious safety issue for me, my wife, and daughter.

Upon regular closing of rear passenger door, it will not latch, therefore can not be shut. the car cannot be driven in this condition, as the door will necessarily be open at all times.

I have called two local dealers multiple times dating back to april (when i purchased the car) to have the recall fixes performed, and continue to be told the parts are on back order from the manufacturer. i have also contacted the manufacturer (ford) online and was told i needed to schedule the appointment with a local dealer.

I have a broken pawl spring in my back right door which stops my door from latching closed, there is an open recall on that part but ford refuses to acknowledge my claim and hangs up on me when asked.

The latch on the driver's side front door stopped working, causing the driver's front door to not latch shut. apparently my car is not covered in the existing recall for this issue. the car was stationary when this issue first occurred.

Car door latch unexpectedly stopped working. i parked at a convient store and closed my door. my door will not stay closed and now i can not secure my car, nor can i safely drive the vehicle.

Passenger front and rear door latches have failed within days of each other. both or the doors, at different times, flew open while driving the car without notification or warning. doors will not latch at all now. there has been a recall for this failure but it does not include my vin...

The door latch suddenly stopped latching. the vehicle was parked at a shopping center. my passenger got in and tried to close the door and it would not latch. tried cycling the lock. tried several times to close and latch. the latch will not lock into the closed position.

Front driver side and front passenger side door stopped latching. cannot safely secure doors during trip. both times the car was stationary, the doors were latched, then i opened them, and they just stopped latching. driver side door occurred on 8/04 and passenger door on 10/17.

S10 direct reply letter from constituent re expressing concerns about 2 unaddressed safety recalls for his 2014 ford fusion. *ld updated 06/29/2017*js

From date of purchase to 9/24/14 i noticed cloudy blotches and streaks varying in number and size according to the direction looking and type of day on the rear window. at first i thought the window just had not been cleaned well. looking through the rear view mirror these areas affect the drivers visual field by distorting and distracting the driver view. the ford mechanic verified seeing this & notified ford dealer hot line who also verified this issue was present. also that this issue occurs during the tempering process of the glass & that there was no fix for this issue. i feel that a huge safety issue is present due to this issue which affects visual field of drivers & because it is impossible to get use to it because the blotches & streaks change continually according to type of day from sunny to cloudy or direction driving in or just how u might be looking at it. *tr

Headliner is falling down and blocking driver's view out the rear window. car had 3 attempts at a repair, including a "robust" repair by ford engineers, however the problem persists and is a safety concern. dealership advised that ford is unwilling to replace the headliner as promised, due to unavailable part and the fact that it will happen again. we were told this is a problem with other ford fusion vehicles. *tr

Interior has extremely strong mold/mildew smell. prior model year had a tsb posted for faulty ac duct work/materials. *tr

The interior of the car has a toxic smell from the carpet causing occupants to have migraine. the dealership steamed the carpet and it is same if not worse, i just don't believe it is safe for long trips especially in cold weather when opening the windows is foolish. please advise on possible solutions. the dealership says there is nothing the can do to rid the car of the smell. *tr
