Purge valve solenoid bad causing car to shut off while driving. check engine light came on. got code p144a
When fueling the tank vehicle will not stay running. engine starts and then dies. this goes on up to five minutes then engine stays running with no check engine light on. check codes there is p1450 stored. other times it happens after driving and turning engine off and then re starting a few minutes later, sometimes the engine stutters and dies after driving which can be in a parking lot or make to the highway stop at a stop lights which gets really scary when other traffic is around. i look up my vin for recalls it shows none. it starting happening a while back just once in a while accurrence, now everytime i fill up.
The car will pulsate and shake when driving, then the check engine light would come on. you can't accelerate, like there no accelerating in then the car cut off, which is danger. i have had this car for less then a year, i just payed close to 1,000 bucks getting it fix from having electrical problems that my warranty did not cover. i had to take to the shop for things that was or recalled., in now this. i think i was sell a lemon.
The purge valve went out on my car after never having any performance or emissions related issues. upon researching, it seems to be rather common in ford fusions. is there a recall review warranted at this time? i was driving to work and started hearing a loud humming, vibrating sound coming from my gas tank / gas cap area. it continued to hum every 15 seconds or so over the next 20 minutes until i arrived at work. there were no other issues and my car seemed to run just fine. this is, however, an emissions concern and seems to be common in ford fusion forums. please investigate for a recall alert.
Fuel will be at 43 miles to empty and fuel light will come on then go off then the car shuts off when it's sitting
Vehicle will go into safe mode while driving and will force you to pull over and shut down vehicle regardless of location, traffic, or driving condition. when you shut off car, you wait a few minutes, restart car and then car drives normal again, until it happens again.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. after adding fuel in the vehicle and while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled. an abnormal humming noise emerged from the vehicle and the check engine indicator illuminated. the contact called royal oak ford (27550 woodward ave, royal oak, mi 48067, (248) 548-4100), but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the purge valve canister needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 124,750. *dt *tr
My cars engine shuts off after accelerating with no warning. no engine lights come on during the process and my car remains in motion but can't accelerate. the car starts to shake vigorously when right before shutting off. i need to shut off the car and turn it back on to get it going, but it becomes dangerous when on the road. i took it to a mechanic who can't determine the cause of the issue. this issue only happens after a second startup of the vehicle within an hour time of shutting off the vehicle for the first time. after restarting the vehicle after the second failed drive, everything works correctly again. all electrical systems keep working when the engine shuts off. happened 12 different times for me since february.
Fuel injector stuck open causing raw fuel to go into pistons only 68k
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. while the vehicle was at a stop, the contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the fuel tank. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and stated that the purge valve failed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer and dealer were not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
When at a stop or.light my car just dies take a while to restart but have to keep my foot on acclateor to keep running. battery, alternator, starter all good
I have a 2014 ford fusion ecoboost 2.0 turbo the vehicle runs great until you shut it off. once you start it up it runs fine then within a few minutes not everytime it will just shut off. it will also start shaking in stop and go traffic then shutoff. i have avoided two head on collisions at intersections turning left when the engin died, i was able to restart it both times after a few minutes then i nearly had a rear end impact when merging on the freeway, i w as going 65-70 and as i merged over the car sputtered and shut off. i was able to coast to the shoulder and wait for a tow.. this is a very dangerous issue and i know several people all with a ford ecoboost engine that have the same issue. the problem appears to be the purge valve. ford needs to address all ecoboost motors. this is an active recall on the ford focus 2.0 liter cars. suffice to say i am very cautious when ever i drive it now. i want it fixed or gone. this still happens almost daily.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. after the contact filled the fuel tank with 3/4 of fuel, a loud rattling noise was heard coming from the vehicle. the contact stated that the noise sounded as if the exhaust may have made contact with the fuel tank. the contact was an independent mechanic and inspected the vehicle, but could not find the source of the failure. the contact highlighted that the fuel tank rattling noise only sounded when the tank was 3/4 full and became more prominent in colder temperatures. a dealer and the manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 86,000.
When i initially start my vehicle there are no problems. the problem starts if i turn my car off after driving it. it will start and i can drive for about 500 feet and it will then turn off. i have to restart it and then it continues to drive normally. this happens almost every time i start, stop and restart the vehicle. it is always while the vehicle is in motion.
Shows code p4150 makes loud humming noise sulpher smell jerk then dies while driving city street. has happened 11 times in 3 months
Has rattle under passenger floor when fuel tank is 3/4 to full in park or in gear at complete stop or just creeping below 5 mph and have read online about the baffles breaking in the fuel tank causing this issue also read it causes air in fuel line which could be a safety issue while traveling down highway if engine cuts out due to this issue,, also drivers door doesn't always latch 100 % sometimes have to open and close door several times to shut completely and has started doing this since october of 2018 also transmission shifts funny when cold going from park to reverse has very harsh engagement and 3rd shifts very firm when going in
Engine stalls due to fuel vacuum. when driving the engine to will stall under low rpms especially when pulling out of driveaway and at stop signs. this happens daily.
We just purchased this car. when we start out driving slow the car stalls. pulling out into traffic from parking lots parking spots. it happens daily. yesterday a car had to swerve not to hit us afterwe stalled and it did not start up rightaway.
While in motion, my 2014 ford fusion abruptly stopped accelerating. the vehicle did not turn off. the vehicle was able to drive for a few seconds (around 20 seconds) after driving out of the parking space, and afterwards it stopped accelerating. this happened to me while on the road and could have resulted in a serious accident to myself and others. it happened on more than one occasion. after getting two diagnoses from a ford dealership, they said the issue had to do with the low side fuel pressure sensor. it was not functioning properly. they needed to replace it. important to note is the fact that the check engine light was not on before or after the incident transpired. in other words, the vehicle's safety system gave no indication that the vehicle needed immediate attention. this safety defect is in breach of the national traffic and motor vehicle safety act. a vehicle should not abruptly stop accelerating while on the road as it can cause serious casualties to the owner and nearby vehicles. the fact that the vehicle's safety system/check engine light never came on is incredibly significant. this safety defect repair should be reimbursed to owners of this ford vehicle. *js
So i have a 2014 fusion, bought pre-owned currently with about 16,000 miles. i recently noticed that my car when accelerating pauses to accelerate. this is especially noticeable trying to go from 0-60 as fast as possible. also after slowing down and hitting the gas pedal it almost feels like no power is being applied to the engine momentarily. i was stationary, then in motion below 10mph crossing an intersection on a city street and to my right a vehicle was doing 40+ in a 25 and flew over a hill and almost hit me. when i went to accelerate to get out of his way, this is when i noticed the problem, i slammed the gas and didn't move until a literal second later, luckily he slammed his brakes and nothing happened. reason unknown, however after experimenting in a safe environment some more, i noticed that it only really happens in drive, not sport. although it is an automatic, they split up these sections and probably different "chips" that dictate these controls. it could be a delay between pressing the pedal and receiving power. unfortunately, i cannot drive the vehicle and record at the same time as i don't have a safe way of doing so, and it looks like you don't allow video to be uploaded anyway. the vehicle currently has 27,000, model se, 2.5l engine, semi-automatic transmission. again, does delay in acceleration in drive, not sport.
1. when pumping gasoline, the lever clicks off every 1-2 seconds, taking long time to fill gas tank, and never knowing if over-filling. i must repeatedly turn the ignition on/off/on in order to see the gas gauge. 2. the body dents easily.
While driving in traffic the vehicle would stall, necessitating re-start and normal operation. replacement of part # bu5z*9f972*b sensor fixed the problem.
Very dangerous safety hazard with my 2014 ford fusion. i have been having issues with my car stalling on me. typically it happens when i am leaving a parking lot or gas station, pulling away from a stop sign/light, or reversing from a parking spot and shifting back into drive. it will sputter, the rpm needle rapidly fluctuates above 1 and under 1, and then will just go to 0. at all times i am driving at low speeds, but numerous times i was either driving into a busy street or it stalled in an intersection where i or other people could have been seriously injured. this has happened about 10 times in the last 2 weeks, but it is very random. some days will go by without a hitch and other days it will happen 2 or 3 times. most of the time when it happens, it happens again right after. so i will put the car in park, completely shut it off, and turn it back on, it will drive for like 5-10ft and then do it again. i took it to the dealership, and they said they could not find an issue. the did a few test drives and let it sit and run for awhile, and the car didn't stall. there is no engine light on, so they said they can not diagnose the problem, unless they see it for themselves. this is very concerning to me as i am scared to drive, knowing that it could stall and i could get in an accident. i also drive for a ride sharing company, and it is too risky for me to pick up passengers knowing something could happen, and i would be responsible. this issue needs to be addressed right away as i know i am not the only one having this problem, which means there a a number of faulty cars on the road that can just stall out at any moment and cause fatal accidents. i am scared to drive this car! this has been an on-going issue that has gradually gotten worse, and thankfully i have managed to stay accident free. (i have attached other complaints)
Vehicle door spring. door may come open at any given time while driving or not driving.there's a recall on this car.
My car is stalling after it is driven for 15-20 mins. once the car is turned off, if it is started within the next hour, it always stalls out. i see that ford fusion had a similar issue that was recalled. this is the note that i saw online for the ford focus recall, "ford is recalling nearly 1.3 million focus compact cars in the u.s. because a fuel system problem can cause the engines to stall without warning. the recall covers cars from 2012 through 2018 with 2-liter four-cylinder engines." i have taken it to the dealership multiple times and they keep diagnosing it as a bad fuel sensors that need to be replaced. well, i've replaced them already and the same problem keeps happening. i cannot afford to keep paying the dealer for something that i believe is an issue that they should be taking care of since their other vehicles were having the same issue.
The ford fusion on multiple occasions in the last 2 months has suddenly, without warning, lost full throttle power while driving (radio remains on), i.e., gas stops flowing into engine despite attempting acceleration, and the car will on its own come to a stop. so far, have been able to pull over without incident, but obviously it's very scary! this generally occurs shortly after the car has had ignition turned on while driving on road generally at low speed - don't want to ever experience this happening on a highway! then i turn engine off a few seconds and attempt to restart - it often takes scarily longer after this power loss to restart, but it does restart. could lead to life-threatening situations obviously!
1) steering wheel is loose and getting looser. this happened on the freeway at 65mph. almost lost control of the car. 2) car still thinks it is plugged in when unplugged. will not allow vehicle to start without a new visual prompt confirming that the car is indeed unplugged.
When turning on the car and actually taking off driving the car will stop/ shut off all by itself and i have to restart it, while driving. the steering wheel will pull or jerk while driving. i have had my car looked at twice. changed the battery and still can't figure out why it does it.
The car acts like it wants to shut off after fueling. if i sit at an idle it will start to run rough. while in motion there is a vibration humming sound coming from where you put the fuel in. if i press the flap it releases a buildup of gas fumes.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. while driving approximately 70 mph, the check engine indicator illuminated. the vehicle was driven to the contact's residence where a scan tool was used to diagnose the engine, which generated a p1450 code. the code was reset and the failure recurred. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer. the vehicle was not repaired. in addition, after fueling the fuel tank and attempting to drive, the vehicle hesitated and stalled. the contact was able to restart the vehicle, but the failure recurred each time fuel was placed in the vehicle. the contact called the ford murfreesboro dealer in tennessee where an appointment was scheduled for diagnostic testing. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v793000 (fuel system, gasoline). the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
Heard a loud noise coming from near the gas tank, sounds like a googling or funny noise check engine light comes on and the car sputters and cuts off. all the noise was being made while driving it didn't stop until i put the car in park
On multiple occasions, the engine would stall while driving and after a minute or two would surge forward. i have informed the ford dealer of this problem since january 2017.
Electronic throttle body. car would go into limited power mode and then would cut off randomly and without warning.
Engine randomly stalls while driving in low and high speeds. the car is under 40,000 miles and have been faithfully serviced. no engine light present.
The o2 sensor has burnt out, & has been burnt out for a while. after refueling at any gas station the vehicle will not start up immediately after the key is turned. it takes several attempts to get the engine to recieve fuel & to turn over, and even then it struggles to start up or keep running. i have tried different patterns of pressing the gas pedal, alternating pressure & time without finding a reliable method. the vehicle has turned off if i do not keep the mph above 15mph for at least 10 minutes, & if i stop for longer than 60seconds, it sometimes turns off. this has caused issues in light traffic, especially with the difference in speed between my car shutting off & coasting, & cars passing at 25mph or greater. the dealership refuses to acknowledge that the o2 sensor has issues, but my personal mechanic had confirmed the issue after i had the vehicle inspected at a branch of the automotive repair chain midas. after having the sensor replaced at meineke in sept 2016, it burnt out again in october 2016. attached is the repair reciept which we finally found today while packing for our move.
Gurgling in gas tank area after gas fill up can be heard in passenger compartment until tank gas level goes down between 3/4 and full. only occurs when gas tank is full or very near full.
Car will hesitate when going down a hill and then accelerate, when try to accelerate the car will jerk and hesitate(2014, 2015, 2016 & 2017)..the rpm drops during these incidents and has reported to the service dept at capital ford a few times since purchased the vehicle brand new in 2014(2014,2015,2016,2017,2018). have replace lug nuts a few times (factory issued) they keep swelling and cracking(2016,2017& 2019). oil leak between the engine and transmission(6/1/19). dates varies. problems still exist and on going.
Battery was initially not taking a charge, they said it was a defective module and replaced both the module and the rear back up camera which they said was draining the battery. in this case they had the car for 2 1/2 weeks before returning it to me .. about 4 days after i got it back the car started shuddering during a reverese position in a parking lot and died.. it started right up again.. the next day it lost all acceleration at a lower speed in stop and go traffic, once again it died but started right up again. it did this two more times once on the freeway the other time down the street from my home. ford has had the car for 5 days (since 2/19/2016) now and says there is no codes or have been able to duplicate the problem..
Wether the car is cold or warm, everytime i drive, i get a hardshift between 2nd and 3rd gear. also when i make a stop and try to accelerate, the car jerks from on the 1st gear. when i'm going on a downhill and let go of the gas pedal and slowly start braking, the would go from 2,000 rpm to 5,000 rpm while i have my foot on the brake. when i go to any gas station i can't leave the pump on auto because it would stop pumping, so i have to do it manually, in order to get a full tank.
The window sticker claiming epa/dot fuel economy and environment is deceptive. the window sticker claims 22 city and 31 highway per gallon for the ford fusion 2014. my car has 17000 miles and i would like to report that i'm not getting as claimed. i'm getting only 16 in city and 26 in highway driving. this false claim by ford should be investigated.
bought a new 2014 ford fusion se ego boost in july of 2014. when fuel tank is full, there is a loud and distinct rattling noise originating from the back of the car which appears to be coming from the fuel tank. initial inspection by ford failed to determine the nature of the problem as they were not able to replicate the noise. driving the car for several weeks led me to determine that the noise was present only when the fuel tank was full. i brought the car back to ford twice, both times with a full tank of gas. the service manager told me the noise is "normal" but there is nothing normal about it. i've escalated my concerns to ford's corporate office and the woman i spoke to told me that the noise is inherent in the design and not a safety problem, i told her that anytime a fuel tank is vibrating and hitting either the exhaust or the under body of the car it is a safety concern. she told me that her tech have informed her that the noise is coming from bad baffles in the tank, i told her that who ever said that thinks that i am stupid and that i can't tell the difference between a rattle and a baffle problem. she repeated it not a safety concern. i told her that it may not seem that way now, but years down the road when the fuel starts to leak from years of rubbing it will be because at that time a fire or explosion will happen. at this point ford refuses to do anything to fix this issue. *tr
After fill up slow in parking lot hear what sounds like a bad wheel bearing from r rear. checked out other complaints found ford will replace some more expensive model fuel tanks not mine.was told to live with it . there is a service bulletin from ford same year as mine . i have a base model so i don't qualify . it's true it's a brand new car! $23,000 it cost me .
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start intermittently. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that there was air in the fuel line. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was aware of the failure. the current and failure mileage was 300. the vin was not available.
When driving at slow speeds, making parking manuevers, or just stting still there are noises coming from the gas tank area of my vehicle. they sound like rattling, gurgling, vibrating, or percolating sounds. i have taken my vehicle to two different ford dealers in my area and neither one can/will tell me what these noises are, all they say is that it could be a few different things and that it is a normal operating feature of this model vehicle. frankly i dont believe that as i have never heard this noise from any other car i have owned. furthermore if the dealers themselves cant tell me why my car is making this noise than how can they say its normal.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. the contact stated that fuel was smelled while in the cabin. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure could not be diagnosed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted about the failure. the failure mileage was 5,700.
First i would like to state that this vehicle has a 6 speed manual transmission. i have had acceleration/ deceleration issues since i took delivery of the vehicle in january 2014, the issues are intermittent and happen at various rpm and various speeds. ive had the vehicle at the dealership 3 times for the same issue they have told me 3 times that there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. the problems are as follows....when shifting gears the accelerator will occasionally stick and hold that higher rpm for 5 or 6 seconds before decelerating, this happens approx. 50% of the time while shifting. the dealer tells me that this is supposed to happen this way. my response is... if it is supposed to perform this way then why doesn't it perform this way all the time rather than 50% of the time? the second acceleration/ deceleration issue is....the car will randomly accelerate to 5500- 6000 rpm, this has happened while driving 40 mph in 6th gear it has also happened while shifting between gears. when this happens it will maintain that high rpm for 5 or 6 seconds then decelerate. on one occasion i was driving in traffic at approx. 15 mph my car accelerated and this almost caused an accident, fortunately i was able to quickly depress the clutch and brake to avoid a collision. the issues listed above have happened multiple times and are random. *tr
