Recently reported STRUCTURE problems on 2013 Ford Fusion

There is currently a recall for the 2013 fusion vehicles built at hermosillo assembly plant for all 4 door latches. ford claims my fusion does not fall under the recall. but my 18 year old daughter was driving down a highway with my 12 yr old son sitting in the back seat passenger side when the door came open by itself while the car was in motion doing 60 mph and now the door will not close. we had a mechanic look at it and says it is a faulty door latch. i now have to pay $202 to buy the part to fix one door. the recall says it can happen to all four doors. this recall needs to be expanded to all 2013 fusions. there is obviously a huge safety issue.

I want a refund for replacing my latch on my fusion two months ago. it came open while driving and now i see a recall for the exact same issue, but my fusion is not on the list. i had it done at ford of el cajon. 2013 ford fusion 4d 2wd se i contacted ford and am attaching their response.

Latch on rear passenger door stopped working and door swung open while vehicle was in movement. door will no longer stay closed.

My ford fusion began to have extreme mold in it after only being just over 2 and a half years old. we have had the cabin filter replaced, interior detailed, and most recently, the dealership has had the ac evaporator flushed (1 month ago). the car continues to have a rancid smell of mold. the mold is so bad that my wife and i have had co-workers complain about mold in our offices when we have driven the car to work. the mold has also made each of us sick to our stomach when we have had to drive the car. i have explained to ford that my wife is pregnant and due to have a new child but ford's only resolution was to have the carpet removed and then the cabin filter replaced (again) and the interior detailed (again). this resolution is very unlikely to remove the mold and will definitely have some traces of mold left regardless of what they do. i have asked ford to provide a resolution that will not involve having my wife and future child in a vehicle that has mold in it but they did not provide one. they also refused my request for a buyback. this mold is an extreme safety concern. the car is currently at 40,000 miles, however, we have had a window replaced at 17,236 miles and also expressed concerns that moisture was building in the front window at 29,391 miles. i am concerned about the health and safety of my family if they are exposed to this vehicle.

Rear drivers side door will not latch, remains open. occurred after simply opening door, vehicle was at a complete stop. recall already in place for this year/make/model however only for vehicles with sticker of 5/2013 or prior, mine shows 6/2013. believe recall needs to be adjusted.

My 2013 ford fusion front passenger door latch and cable failed. i was unable to close my door. at the time i was parked on a city street . luckily i was not moving like other 2013 ford fusion owners experienced. ford did not include my vehicle in recall 15s16 or nhtsa 15v246000, even though i encountered the same safety issue. i immediately repaired the latch and cable at the local ford dealer, invoice#c54181.

I was driving at approximately 70 mph on i-40 moving west from nashville in dickson, tn when my hood released. the hood slapped my windshield shattering it and sending pieces of glass at me. i was able to pull off on the median and call the state troopers. there was nothing that i could find that would have caused the hood to release as there is an initial "hood release" and then a safety lever that have to both have action before the hood can even go up.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. the contact received a recall notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v246000 (structure:body); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the contact had not experienced a failure. parts distribution disconnect.

The drivers door flew open while i was driving. the door would not latch after it opened on its own. this is the second time this has happened to me on this vehicle, yet my car is not included in the recall for this problem nhtsa campaign number: 15v246000. the reason for this is the recall is for vehicles made up until 5-31-13, and my door sticker reads 6-13. my vehicle is obviously still affected by the issue and in fact my original window sticker is dated 5-29-13 and should be included in the recall. i do not feel the vehicle is reliable or safe to drive....updated 03-10-16 *bf updated 04/25/18 *jb *tr

The door latches were known by ford to be faulty. while driving, the passenger side door latch failed and the door opened. after contacting the dealership's service department, we were told ford directed them to not fix the issue until the latch failed. i then contacted ford customer service and was told the decision was a joint one between them and the nhtsa, essentially passing the blame. ford has knowingly put unsafe cars on the road and shown no concern for the personal safety of their customers.

While driving to the park with my three year old nephew in the car the front passenger door fully opened with out being touched. i pulled over and car door would not latch. i called for assistance as i could not drive the car with the door open. thankfully there was no one in the front passenger seat but my nephew was right behind it and this defect put his life in danger.

When driving around a right hand turn the drives side door swung open. the latch will not catch. the car is unsafe to drive as the drivers side door will not latch close. this is the same problem that other ford cars having but this one is not under a recall. how can it not be? this is a serious safety problem. the dealership would not repair it. the cost is $460 plus a rental. my wife was driving the car at the time of the incident. if it was on the freeway there could have been serious injuries or more not to just my wife but anyone close to her. this needs a recall now not month from now.

Keep getting notices about 15s16 for door latch. car has been to dealer at least 5 times since first notice, part is never in stock. can't get service done until they're forced to properly stock this part, meanwhile i keep getting notices i can't do anything about.

August 10, 2015 the latch on my rear passenger side door released while driving and would not re-latch. this was the door my daughter's car-seat was located (she was not in the car the time). i only owned my vehicle for a few weeks prior to this happening. i was sold this fusion with open recalls but was not informed of this. i called both the dealership and ford- none of which where helpful. i was told by one dealer my car was fixed and it wasn't be another. i still do not know for sure and have no trust in my local dealers at this point. i have asked numerous times to trade my car in but they are only willing to give me a fraction of what i paid, leaving me upside down and unable to afford another car.

Rear passenger door latch failed. door would not remain closed while parked or during travel.

Drivers door latch failed. this is the third latch to fail on the car. we had both passenger side door latches fail last year, filed a report for both. latch was replaced, new design door latches apprently until the end of the year.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. while driving 25 mph, the front driver side door opened after the door ajar warning indicator illuminated. the failure recurred on one other occasion. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 58,000.

Passenger door will not close or latch. door latch breaks and door will not remain closed / latch when vehicle operating and or not operating. latch has been replaced 3 times under ford motor company recall 15s16. the door may unlatch while driving and open and result in injury.

These recalls have been out since apr 23rd, 2015 and nov 30th 2016 and ford still does not have parts. it seems to me that it defeats the purpose of a recall. in this case it appears that the company is simply waiting it out until the owner gets a new car and then they do not need to do anything.

The passenger side door latch has stopped working. the door can close but will not latch. tried locking and unlocking, but latch still does not work. *tr

Yesterday, driving on a freeway access road, the front passenger door opened. after stopping, found door will not latch closed. tonight the wife was cleaning her stuff from the car so i can take it to the dealer tomorrow and now the rear passenger door has the same problem. will not latch closed. being the wife's car, the passenger side doors get very little use. *tr

Wife and i got into the car and closed the doors and buckled up. as i was backing out of the drive way the passenger door opened up. my wife tried to close the door but it would not close. i had to wait over the weekend to take car to dealer for repair. *tr

I was driving my car out of my apartment parking lot and the rear passenger side door swung open. i stopped right away. i checked the door latch and it was down but when i pushed the door to shut it would not catch and shut. *tr

My dash door indicator light came on and after checking the doors found the passenger rear door had opened and would not close. after trying several times to close the door no luck it would just swing back at me. i have emailed ford to get info on this problem but no response back. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. while driving approximately 45 mph, the front seat passenger noticed that the front passenger door was not secure. after stopping the vehicle, it was discovered that the door would not remain shut. the vehicle was taken to the local dealer (hixson ford, 2506 s. macarthur dr, alexandria, la) where it was diagnosed that the door latch was faulty and needed to be replaced. all four door latches were replaced per nhtsa campaign number: 17v210000(latches/locks/linkages). the contact recently discovered that the front driver's door experienced the same failure listed in the recall and after the remedy repair had been performed. the manufacturer was not notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 60,000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. the contact stated that the metallic tape on the transmission gear selector had peeled off creating very sharp edges and causing a laceration to his right hand. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 32,000.

Passenger door opened while driving. both doors will not stay latched. *tr

The front passenger door of my 2013 ford fusion will not close. i took the vehicle to my local ford dealer and the diagnosis was failure of the door latch assembly. the part is on backorder and i was told they have no idea when the part will be shipped. while at the dealer, there was another 2013 ford fusion with the same problem on the same door as mine. i have owned this car for almost two years and there is no way a door latch should fail this early. the total cost for the repair will be $431. *tr

While driving with children in the back seat of the vehicle the rear passenger door became unsecured. the door latch failed and would not re-secure. this was the second incident on the same car in less than 2 weeks. the first time the front passenger door would not secure. that first time ford repaired the door. while picking the vehicle up after the repair another ford fusion owner was dropping off his vehicle with the same issue. the same dealership had another fusion in a couple days earlier with the same problem. this is a safety concern. my family was in the car when the door failed. *tr

**this is the second time this happened** the latch on the front passenger door failed. my husband shut the door at the grocery store and the door bounced back, it would not latch. this is not safe! we were not driving at the time of incident but if we were there could have been an awful result. our extended warranty covered the replacement latch but we will probably have to wait another 3 days for them to order the part and fix it. there was no rental car assistance provided and this was our only vehicle. **note** there was another latch issue a month prior on the rear passenger door which i already made a separate report for** *tr

The latch on the rear passenger door failed. i opened the door and then shut it and the door just bounced back. at the time my family and i were in midland, tx and had to drive all the way back to austin, tx (6 hours) with the rear door tied down. this was very unsafe as we have a 1 year old son that rides in the back seat. we were not driving at the time of incident but if we were there could have been an awful result. our extended warranty covered the replacement latch but we had to wait 3 days for them to order the part and fix it. there was no rental car assistance provided and this was our only vehicle. **note** there was another latch issue a month later on the front passenger door which i will make a separate report for** *tr

Not happy with my vehicle if my first time buying a ford for my family. after i purchased the vehicle i found out it already had recalls and the dealer at ford and didn't notify me about it i really don't feel safe at all driving the vehicle. i made a request with ford motor company for a buy back on my vehecle. at that time it was denied because there was only one recall. well now there is eight and i request for a second time for a buy back i really need to return this vehicle so that i could really spend a little more money and get in to a benz or bmw

Front passenger door latch failed. door would not lock. drove car to dealership. currently still there, door latch was ordered, waiting on repair to be completed. this is our second door latch failure in less than two months. first failure was the rear passenger door latch. complaint was filed for that as well. *tr

In october 2012 i purchased a 2013 ford fusion se 1.6l engine with eco boost, which now has approximately 26,000 miles on it. the left side hood latch is not functioning properly preventing the hood from latching securely on that side. it is a significant concern for me that the hood may release in full while the vehicle is in motion. the overall safety of this vehicle becomes of greater concern to me given this recent issue in light of the three prior safety recalls on this specific fusion model. *tr

Within 2 months two door latches failed and had to be replaced. i worry about the other 2 now. i don't know if they would fail while driving. both happened when i opened the door and then could not shut it. *tr

The front passenger door opened and would not close. the plastic latch assembly failed to secure the front passenger door. the dealership service department was contacted immediately. advised by service manager to wrap seat belt around handle of door and fasten to secure door in order to drive the vehicle to the dealership to address issue. the dealership service department note describes the issue as an "insufficient latch". the cause noted in the service departments review was that the latch assembly "does not operate properly". the corrective action documented and completed by the dealership service department was to remove and replace the front passenger door latch assembly (part # fmc be8z 5421812 b / note: insf description: latch). *tr

There is currently a "safety recall" # 15s16 for the door latch and brought to dealership to have it repaired and the other doors repaired as well since it unlatched without warning and now understand that this may happen at anytime and we are frightened to drive car on highway. the dealership informed us they will only repair the broken door only. this is a safety recall and it happened to one door meaning we are now at risk of having it happen again. we do not feel safe at all driving this car since it already happened. would appreciate it if someone from your organization could contact country ford in henderson, nevada and tell them to replace all the door latches on our car. the car has been at the dealer since july 30th, 2015.

Rear seat was folded down, rear center seat belt locked itself in the retracted position. rear seat, driver side, would not go back up do to center belt being locked. took car to dealership, rear center seat belt was replaced. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. the contact stated the shield deflector was lose from the bottom of the vehicle. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician stated that the chimp monks were eating the shield deflector and as a result, it needed to be replaced. the failure and current mileage was 9,647.

(takata recall) i hereby state that i was in a motor vehicle accident with this vehicle with no fault of my own. at the time of the accident 03/15/2014 this vehicle should have been totaled out but was not done so.the airbags did not deploy with the way and the impact that i was hit by other party. i than took this vehicle numerous of times to hasting ford in greenville nc where they was suppose to have researched and properly checked and fixed everything detailed. i am yet to this day still having problems with this vehicle shifting gears caused by accident, body is coming apart, camara is not working and i am still suffering from the bodily injuries of my hip being shifted from accident. i am seeking legal attorneys at this time due to i feel that ford could have taken better care and replaced this vehicle knowingly that this vehicle is not safe to me the custom. at this point i do feel that ford should be responsible for any suffering and vehicle experience that i am enduring at this time. i would like to say thank you for your moral support. i was traveling down the main highway when another vehicle came from a side road driving 60 mph without breaking speed crashing into my 2013 ford fusion.the accident occurred in wake county nc. around 12:45 p.m. *tr

While reaching over to my right to push a preselected radio selection button, i swerved to the right. no damage. but the placement of the radio tuner to the right of the console may cause other drivers to reach over and swerve. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. the contact stated that the metallic trim in the interior caused an extreme glare, making it difficult to see the road even when wearing sunglasses. the contact also mentioned that he sustained injuries to the eyes after being subjected to the bright reflection. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was contacted about the failure. the failure mileage was 14,578.

We really like our 2013 ford fusion - except for one major snafu - visibility when making a turn. the attached photo, made from the position of the driver's eyes, shows the problem. one must move their head forward and backward to view beyond the large blocked-out area behind the pillar to make sure there are no people or obstructions to the driver's intended path. in the attached photo over 50% of the crosswalk is not visible. there is also a problem when pulling up to a intersection to make a left turn, and looking to the right for oncoming traffic. a large portion of the roadway view is blocked. very annoying and potentially dangerous. too late now for modification but changes should be made for future models. a big and dangerous penalty to pay the for styling. the photo is at: http://www.reesphotos.com/temp/130617pib030-800.jpg. *tr

The front body panels around the headlights are loose and you can hear some kind of a rattle around the back passenger side door when you get over 55 mph. *tr
