Recently reported VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL problems on 2013 Ford Fusion

While operating my vehicle from a stop to a rolling position, the transmission is not propelling the car forward like it should. i compare it to a manual transmission scenario where the clutch isn't released all the way, so the rpms rev-up, but the car moves forward a very slow pace. this has been going on for about 2 months now. nothing seems to resolve the issue. this occurs everyday, regardless of engine temperature or weather.

Have yet to receive a notice of the takata airbag recall and now my light is flashing on while driving. i've had 2 diagnostics done on my car before i fixed the issue and after i replaced the abs sensor on my left front wheel and i'm still getting the same codes for my abs, service traction control and hill assist lights. i have had my brakes replaced thinking that was an issue because my pedal is depressing to the floor while in motion and feels like it won't stop when turning to park. what else am i to do?

While decelerating, the rpm jumps up to 4 or 5 and the cars shifts hard. does matter if i am going up an incline or or flat plain road...it happens.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. while driving 50 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning while the accelerator pedal was depressed. the contact attempted to depress the accelerator pedal again, which caused the vehicle to accelerate at high speeds. the contact regained control of the vehicle and took it to town ford lincoln (700 3rd st se, east wenatchee, wa 98802, (888) 470-0454) to be diagnosed, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified and advised the contact to file a complaint. the failure mileage was 70,000.

Jumping during acceleration when the car is shifting gears. car acts as of it wants to turn off .

Takat recall: driving car warning light comes on then off too fast to see what warning is. while driving on a street, car tries to stop on own like hitting brakes which i am not.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. while driving at an unknown speed, the accelerator pedal fractured without warning. the vehicle was towed to courtesy ford lincoln (401 pleasant valley blvd, altoona, pa 16602) where it was diagnosed that the accelerator assembly failed and needed replacement. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 26,500.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. while driving approximately 55 mph with the air conditioner activated, the vehicle stalled without warning. also, when depressing the accelerator pedal, it became difficult to depress. the contact was able to coast the vehicle to the side of the road. the contact powered off the engine and the vehicle failed to restart. also, when the air conditioner was turned off, the vehicle restarted and was able to operate normally. the failure recurred twice when the air conditioner was in use. the vehicle was taken to phil long ford of denver (7887 w tufts ave, denver, co 80123, (855) 981-0291) where it was diagnosed that a transmission flush was needed. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 123,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. while driving 60 mph or more with the cruise control engaged, a wrench warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle lost power. the contact stated that the vehicle was serviced at an unknown local dealer per nhtsa campaign number: 17v209000 (engine and engine cooling), but the failure persisted after the recall repair. the vehicle was not taken back to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was approximately 98,000.

My 2013 ford fusion titaniumtransmission went out at 80k. i was informed by the dealer that, "upon teardown found transmission case cracked and metal in transmission." here is the letter describing the situation that i sent to the ford dealer after many calls with ford manufacture: i would really appreciate your assistance in dealing with my transmission repair, steering temporary locking, and check engine light issues with my 2013 ford fusion. on december 24, 2017, i started my car after taking my oldest son to get his haircut, when my ford fusion started to jerk, lose power, and steering locked when we attempted to drive away from the parking lot. i was really disappointed that my car, at such a young age, started to act up, but somewhat grateful it happened prior to leaving town on december 26th. my car has been at the dealership since december 26th, and i was finally informed of the hefty cost of the repairs this week (25 days later), for a new transmission. as you may understand, this is very discouraging because i only need nine more payments to pay off the car and don't understand why the transmission suddenly gives out and the steering temporarily locks before paying off the car. i'm perplexed by the denial from the ford manufacture company to assist in this matter since this is a transmission product issue. please explain, because i have several concerns: is this the typical shelf life of a 2013 ford fusion transmission? if not, then it would appear to be a manufacture defect. if so, then the transmission and product of this make and model is not of good quality. is the damage from a cracked transmission or the gears are defaulting to 5th gear or both? we would really appreciate you looking into this matter and assist with paying the costs of the transmission malfunction. what other solutions or recommendations do you have available?

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. while stationary, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact coasted to the right side of the road and was able to restart the vehicle. the contact, an independent mechanic, stated that the throttle body was faulty. baystate ford in south easton, massachusetts (703 washington st) was made aware of the issue and stated that there was no recall for the throttle body. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 42,160.

I bought a 2013 fusion used last year i have had the car die going 70mph on the freeway several times and i have had the door fly open goinv 70 mph on the freeway and then wont close . last week my car wouldnt go under 80 mph white smoke barreling from the exaust with two days previous a low coolant warning coolant was added . car smelt like diesel fuel burning . went thru a tank of gas in 30 min and the car now sits at ford since the 5th of august waiting for tech to look at it. i already know its is a situation that ford needs to recall after reading all these complaint. i could have died and my kids im so upset

While driving on the beltway, the car accelerated then started slow down. i merged off of the beltway and onto a ramp to get somewhere safe. at the ramp the car light of the air bag came on then, the car came to a stop, and all the lights came on. and the hood of the car was smoking. i lifted the hood and saw the fire under the engine. we moved away from the car and luckily a man in a work truck saw us and had a fire extinguisher and put the fire out. the car is with the dealer but, nothing has been completed at this time. the car has been with them since 5/3/17.

2013 ford fusion engine acceleration while driving. i was driving on the freeway at 65 mph with my husband and son. all of a sudden the car accelerated and would not stop. i pumped the breaks , when i realized that was not working i put my foot on the break all the way. the car finally started to slow down but would not completely and the engine was still in acceleration. when i was able to slow it down to a safe enough speed, i put the car in park and turned the engine off. we were able to get it to a dealership 2 miles away where it has been there since. the dealership is great, its ford corporate that is the problem. this is a major safety recall that needs action right away. we have been without a car for over 2 weeks. the dealership and ford corporate stated they have not seen anything like this. ford corporate has walked through steps with the technicians to try and fix the issue. they have replaced many parts and failed at every attempt. they still do not know what is wrong and refuse to accommodate us in any way. i cant even get a return call from ford corporate. time for a lawyer. this is a major safety issue and needs to be addressed before someone loses their life driving this car.

We were driving 70mph cruise control on a highway, let off cruise control to decrease speed on the upcoming bypass and the engine immediately powered down and we coasted to a stop on the side of the highway bypass. the engine light and orange wrench appeared. the car would not start thereafter. we had to call family to get out 5 and 7 year old and a tow truck to take the car to a shop. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. while attempting to accelerate from a stop sign, the engine stalled without warning. the failure was persistent. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the electronic throttle body failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

Electronic throttle body malfunction, car was parked in a parking lot and after returning to my car i started it and put it into drive, as soon as i let of the brake and touched the gas peddle the car maxed out in rpm and the car accelerated on its own even after pushing on the brake resulting crashing into a light pole.

I purchased this vehicle new delivered to the dealership from another location with just under 200 miles on the odometer. i noticed my first issue when the motor would stall going at a low rate of speed 15-20mph through a parking lot at about 22,000 miles on the odometer and also would hesitate to start. i only assumed it was bad fuel being such a new vehicle. this happened periodicaly up untile the engine gave an over temprature coolant display killing all but idle power to the ingine making the car undrivable. thus i had the car towed to the dealership at excactly january 3, 2016 with 64,056 on the odometer. i had then noticed recalls for this particular motor in fords fusions and escapes with this particular size engine. after the recalls repairs were completed for my vehicle i still experienced engine stalls, but less frequent throughout this period and rough idle at initial start of the engine more frequently as time passed. the over temprature coolant message came on again, at 87,000 give or take ( again towed to dealership so they will have reported milage). i was informed that numerous repairs had to be made and are not covered under any recalls although i feel this vehicle more than meets the criteria for numerous recalls. i have had this vehicle checked for coolant leaks from another certified shop and no hoses have been found to have any leaks.

The right passenger front door latch was replaced with the same defective latch part that has a recall, this door is intermittently sticking which is making me extremely nervous that it is going to fly open while traveling down the road with my toddler or someone else in the car, along with passengers on the road. i am in fear of being locked inside of the car as well, being that it doesn't have any key holes! the door has stuck approximately 5 times since the "repair" at fairwary ford in burgaw, nc. also when i place my car in reverse and press the gas pedal there is a delay sometimes before it starts to reverse, this can be fatal if someone is ever behind me!

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. while driving 50 mph and releasing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle stalled without warning. in addition, when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate. the failure recurred several times. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the computer software needed to be updated. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the check engine warning light illuminated. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer, but the technician was unable to duplicate the failure. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 26,757.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. while driving at various speeds, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to respond. the contact would have to restart the vehicle in order for it to resume normal operation. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 39,000.

While driving north on i-25 with cruise control set at 75mph, suddenly the vehicle stop forward acceleration and instantly began decreasing speed. immediately, i stepped on the accelerator to no available power. the engine refused to communication with the accelerator as the rpm would just increase but no actual power was given to the vehicle. i tried multiple times to get the vehicle to respond but eventually had to pull over because no power was available. even after somehow avoid 3 lanes of constant traffic, i attempted to start driving again without shutting the vehicle down. during this point all that would still happen was the vehicle would rev the rpm's, but not propulsion was available. i had to shutdown the car completely on the highway shoulder in order to get the car to respond to any time of gas demands. i have heard about the throttle body issue many customers have been experiencing and believe i have the same issue. this is a huge safety concern because losing power while in cruise control at 75mph can lead to catastrophic results. i believe that this needs to be looked into because it causes immediate panic from the driver as they attempt to drive safely out of the traffic. this is the second time this has happened to me in this vehicle. the first time, ford mechanics blamed the problem on the recalled fuel pump and replaced it. since clearly that was not the remedy to this problem, i believe that more investigation should be done to understand the full scope of the immediate loss of power that myself and many other have experienced. *tr

While driving at slow speeds (0-10 mph) the vehicle accelerates on its own. sometimes when pressing the accelerator the vehicle doesn't respond, causing me to have to further press the accelerator, and when the vehicle suddenly responds, it rapidly accelerates. *tr

Fourth occurrence with this vehicle! driving home from work, approaching roundabout, decelerating from 40mph, vehicle lurched and lost power and began rapidly decelerating. wrench/powertrain light, airbag light, and engine light all came on. vehicle towed to dealership. this is their fifth attempt at repair. *tr

This problem can happen at any time while driving . you could be going thru an intersection or getting on the high way .the problem is when you step on the gas pedal nothing happens no acceleration. the engine is still running. the car then goes into a limp home mode of sorts, with an top speed of 25 mph then 5 mph then back to 25 mph , it's kind of the feeling you get when there's water in your gas. going up any hills can be a problem as the engine does not have the power for this task. this creates a serious safety issue that could lead to injury or someone being killed. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. the contact stated that while coming to a stop, the engine rpms increased excessively as the vehicle suddenly accelerated without warning. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer for a diagnostic. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure and current mileage was 9,000.

While cruising at about 45mph the car suddenly decelerated, the orange wrench light came on, and the car would not accelerate. while idling, the engine was shaking abnormally. this is the third time this has occurred, once at 40mph cruising, and once at about 65mph accelerating. all three incidents have happened about 200 miles apart. all three times i was (barely) able to pull over and restart the vehicle. each time the car took longer than usual to turn over. previous to this, there were several incidents when downshifting from overdrive into a passing gear. when the car shifted down, the transmission would thump and shift abnormally hard. the orange wrench light would then come on. i could still accelerate but i would have the same "hard" shift every time i accelerated fast enough to for the automatic transmission to switch into a passing gear. when slowing down to a stop, the car would surge forward each time it down shifted. after a restart the problem was temporarily remedied, until i tried to accelerate while in overdrive again. *tr

On august 02, 2013, my 2010 ford fusion 3.0 while driving on dc metro area 495 highway i noticed that even i have pressing the gas pedal the vehicle started to stalled almost having a mayor accident. i turned off trying to figure out what happens and decided to turned on again and working like nothing happens for at lease two weeks when happens again. i check with the ford to see if there are having a recalls on that and i was told that they are not receive to many complains on that to create a mayor recalls on that but lookin online i saw alot of complains. that make me believe that ford motors company knows about the problems and because of the cost of repair and parts and the amounts of vehicle involve on the problems they do not wanted to fixed. *tr

On two occasions the vehicle spontaneously accelerated while backing out and pulling into the garage. this happened with 2 different drivers and conditions were similar with very low speeds and we were able to stop the vehicle both times by applying the brakes. *tr

The moon roof window opened with out any button being pressed. storm rain was starting. there was a lot of auto traffic. i was driving , my wife was sitting next to me and there was a car coming out of a parking lot to the left of me and perpendicular to my car :what happened next simultaneously was: a. auto went into "collision avoidance mode"; windshield several red led warning lights began blinking, and alert noise from auto started , and steering wheel shuttered. the later two actions are not terribly clear to me b my wife started to shout for me to watchout. c i started to press on brakes. thus avoiding a collision between my car and car to be moving across my path i was told that the car does not stop in any type of collision mode. it just slows down. i did not know whether this avoidance mode was present (at the slow speed i was going in. i did know that when the car was in cruise control and this mode was activated and that avoidance reactions were activated. . i am very concerned that this may happen again. with serious consequences occurring. *tr

I was traveling at about 40mph and a message flashed on my gauge stating something to the effect engine lower temp. i continued to drive the car and message went away. i later found out that my car had been recalled for possible fire due to engine overheating. i assume that this message is the pre-cursor to what could be a possible fire. i took my car to the ford dealership and i am awaiting a response from ford on a possible fix. the car was only 1 week old. i have requested ford to take the car back and get into a non-affected engine type. *tr

While driving to work on the highway 65-mph the engine shuts off without warning, the instrumental panel starts acting up as if you are turning on and off the key. they found a lose wire to the instrumental cluster on the second time they replaced the instrumental cluster. it has been taken back six times and now the dashboard shuts down and i lose lights, signals, and other electronic features. i have lost power steering and brakes in between. they offered me an extended warranty??? it is a shame that a consumer who buys a car from a dealership has to go through the grinder just to get out of their lemon. i just want to get out of this vehicle. *tr
