My powersteering and advantrac both are still acting crazy. i was told that my vin wasn't apart of the same recall that is currently issued for my 2012 ford fusion. at random times the powersteering notfication and advanctrac alert with come and my steering will with completely lock up with very little time from the alert. this has happened with both intown and highway driving.
Steering wheel is hard to steer and a message keeps coming up on the dash saying 'service track'
My cars power steering has completely ceased up. i bought it used just over a year ago in july 2018. the light has come on for service along with the traction control light. my car has roughly 170,000 miles, maybe a little less. in looking up this issue, there is a disturbing amt of people with the exact issue who have actually had accidents because of this. luckily i have not but my car is now worthless as there is no way i'll be able to afford the repairs yet i still have to pay for the loan. my car was in motion when this happened however my boyfriend was driving on the highway, roughly at 70mph, and was able to continue driving. i dont have the muscle to do this, nor am i taking the risk. i also know my vin is not covered under the recall but ford should know by now that there is obviously something going on with other cars not covered by the recall. this problem needs to be resolved! someone is going to get killed if they havent already. it's not right to just ignore this issue. something needs to be done.
While driving to work 11/4/19 i got a message on the dash saying power steering now and advancetrac when it came time to make a turn at a light after exiting the hwy i had to struggle and pull ... i couldn't believe my car lost power just like that. 71k miles no warning before that day of steering problems.
Last week i received a recall for the airbags on my vehicle. before i called for an appointment, i checked the recall on line and noticed the steering is also being recalled. two days later while driving, lights started going off on my dashboard. the steering and tsc lights were blinking and ringing. i had no idea what to do! i read the dashboard which said check my power steering fluid, ther is no fluid well??? i called my ford dealer and was told ' we will fix the airbag, but have no idea about the steering issues, my car has no recall for that' i told them i was looking right at the recall notice, and since i wasn't notified, they can't fix it. i told her i cannot drive the vehicle that the car won't steer, she told me to have it towed in. i have purchased a 1990 bronco i, a 1999 ford ranger and a 2007 escape from this same dealer. these vehicles have as follows: 660k,588k and 290k miles on them. my ranger still has the original muffler. is this the way i should be treated. if the car has been recalled for steering, which you can easily see from the tire wear, than why doesn't ford stand up and repair it, since there is a recall. i could fix it myself, but ford has blocked the computer usage, do i need to bypass that also. i'm a simple man who loves his fords. i brag constantly about my vehicles. i brag constantly about my dealer. i feel betrayed!!!
Power steering failure /service advancetrace
Driving down i35 at 75 mph advance trace came on and lost steering as it took it to the nearest dealer and said rackandpinion need replaced to get system to talk no steering on vechel i see recall on this but dealer says it is not and i must file a complaint on ford i order to get it fixed with out paying 2600 for repair
'takata recall' i was driving on a city street approx. 40mph when all of the sudden lights and sounds on dash board went off stating service power steering and service advance auto trac after pulling over turning the car off then back on you no longer could steer or drive the car.
Hit a deer and the air bag did not deploy. moving at 45 mph sometimes on start up steering assist doesn't come on - parked today (05.29.19) advancetrac light came on and the car is making growling type noises.- driving parking lots and streets
I went to stivers ford about the air bag be to the end of january and the beginning of february the mechanic took my recall information said they would call me as soon as the new bags got in never heard from them i called every month only to be told nothing came in yet so i called ford customers service they had me on hold the mechanic in montgomery stated that there was no record of me ever being there. customer service left me on the phone with the mechanic to make an appointment she hung up the phone i gave the mechanic my first and last name then he repeated back to me my first and last name with my address keep in mind he had all of my information in the system the whole time. so i made an appointment for friday may 31 2019. there is a faulty tire light on that won't go away even when i had the tire checked the car stopped in the middle of the intersection during the green light in heavy traffic the 🔧 light came on with the check engine light and the flashing faulty tire light . i put the car in park and turned off the engine then restarted the car and drove home i was very afraid because the cars behind me were moving pretty fast i was blessed to not be hit from behind. next day drove the car to a repair shop. every thing was working fine they ran a diagnosis showing the throttle was stuck and would not reset so it is stuck.
Driving on highway and msg popped up and said service powertrac and service power steering now. steering wheel locked up and became hard to turn.
Takata recall as of today may 10,2019 we have not recieved any recall order for air bags system.also our car is loosing power while driving it.to a complete stall. this is be address with our mechanic, several attempts to repair.issues continues
On march 11, 2019 as i was driving on the highway, the steering wheel locked up and with all my strength was barely able to navigate my 2012 ford fusion safely to my home. during this incident i had the 'service power steering now' indication on the ipc (instrument panel cluster) as well and an advantrac (ford's traction control system) light. the following day i called and asked the ford service advisor if there had been a recall in the past for power steering issues on this model. he said no but for me to take the car in for a diagnostic check. i had my car towed to corwin ford on march 12 for a check-up. on such date i get a call from corwin ford noting they would need to replace epas and front suspension front and rear lower control arms for $3,420. and once again, the service advisor stated that there had never been a recall for this issue. i can't afford to fix this issue and will be having my car towed back to my house tomorrow. i paid ford $144 today for the service check.
Vehicle was stationary when power steering went out and advance trac. dealership fails to acknowledge why they advise a new power steering rack and new control arms. was told control arms are seizing up putting too much stress on the power steering and shortening it out. why not perform the recall work first to see if it fixes it rather than propose almost $4,000 worth of repairs? the recall i'm referring to is 15v340 and 15s18
Power steering failure
2012 fusion with 62,000 miles. when stationary, it makes a sound when you turn the steering wheel just slightly either way. mechanic says the electric rack and pinion is the problem and it sounds like this is a common issue. i don't think i should be having this issue at only 62,000 miles. this is a very expensive fix. sounds to me like there should be a recall on this.
For no reason i got two warnings when driving stabilize and power steering. at the time my mom was driving. she couldn't turn as we were turning a corner and ended up in a ditch! from what i see this is a problem with a lot of other ford fusions! and this isn't recalled? theses shouldn't be going out already? my vehicle has 60k miles! we could have died!
Was driving around 35 mph and heard a clunk. a few seconds later and another clunk. then heard a grinding noise and the loss of traction light came on, so i put my foot on the brake, at which point it became clear that the grinding noise was from abs engaging. slowed down to under 25, and it stopped these issues. sped up to above 30, and the problems reoccurred. as these things happened, it became harder to steer. car system was malfunctioning in some way to think i was losing traction and that abs need to be engaged. there was no reason for any of this as i was traveling straight on a dry (sunny, no rain), straight road. eventually the service advancetrac light came on as well. was able to find a place to pull over by keeping the car under 25 mph (any speed above that seemed to re-engage the issue). even at low speeds, loss of traction light and service advancetrac indicator remained on. this issue is dangerous as it makes the car harder to steer and control. i was lucky to be on a straight road with no other traffic.
Starting my car every morning, and the power steering doesn't work. i turn the car off and start it again to get it to work. took it in for recall once already. . fan won't work at all, just smells hot. for ac, heater, and defrost.
When driving my 2012 ford fusion sel awd, the power steering will (at random) cease to function and causes extreme difficulty in steering. it is nearly impossible to pull over safely. at speed this is an extremely dangerous and terrifying event. the lights for the traction control system, the power steering system, and occasionally the advance trac system come on. it is not always all of the lights all of the time, and the errors vary. i have had it looked at and the codes read, and the problem persists. i need this fixed as i have two small children that i refuse to allow to ride in the car as i'm afraid for their safety. it strands me at random at work and at school an hour from home as well. upon cranking the lights for power steering failures come on and i have to sit and wait on a ride. this is unacceptable. someone needs to fix this problem as every time i have called multiple ford dealerships, they give me a runaround explaining there is no recall for this issue. this is unacceptable because the internet is rife with posters have the same exact issues i am having and are having no assistance either from ford. please help us with this problem, as i cannot afford to purchase a new car after this one has drained me of my resources.
Lost power steering. have service power steering now message and service stabilitrac.
Upon accelerating from a rolling stop, the car will sputter and stall out infrequently. the battery and altenator have been tested at different places and all have passed the tests.
My car takes about 2 mins to start. the gas acceleration goes from normal to slow when i'm driving. i go into reverse and my car stalls and jerks really hard. when i'm at a stoplight or a stop sign my car will act like it's losing power and the whole car shakes. the lights on the dash come on then disappear days later with new lights on such as check engine doors open ect. there are times i will be driving and my car will slow down on its own like i hit my breaks. when i was backing up going in reverse the car jerked and i hit someone however it was in a parking lot. there was no damage to the other vehicle. when i put the car back in drive after i had it in reverse from backing up i backed up again there has to be something wrong within the car itself. i'm worried about my safety as well as others. the malfunctioning of the car has been going on since about a month after i got it and it's been almost 2 months since it's beenin my possession.
When i purchased my vehicle it had no recalls that i was aware because i was told a vehicle can't be sold with a recall. i began having problems with the power steering and the steering when it rains had to pull over because the car started to tail spin i was very scared the vehicle began to fish tail and because of the power steering problem had minimal control.this is a very expensive repair which should not be pasted on to there customers.i was told by ford they can't help me.i am the new owner so ford should fix my problems with this car.it is a safety
Since owning the vehicle there have been instances where the power steering assist warning would flash on my dash, typically during cold weather. i could turn the car off and then back on and the issue resolved itself. i purchased the vehicle in late 2012. it happens when i go to start it after it sitting overnight or while i am at work for 8 hours. as of yesterday (6/18) i began having trouble with the power steering when i went to leave work and drive home. i turned the car off and turned it back on and the issue once again resolved itself. this morning (6/19) i went to start my car to leave for work and the power steering assist/advancetrac message flashed on my dash. the advancetrac notification is new, it never happened until this morning. i have no power steering whatsoever. i have read multiple reports of this happening to other fusions of the same year as mine. the dealership told me that it would be $1500+ to repair this. it is an ongoing issue that has been happening sporadically since the vehicle was purchased.
There was a recall for the power steering assist and it was y taken in for service last year and today the power steering assist came on twice and i lost all power steering while driving the vehicle thank goodness i want going to fast and was able to pull the vehicle over and shut it off and back on and it was working again. this had happened a few months ago as well.
Having issues with the advanctrac failure. this is the second time this has occurred the first was covered under warranty. this time the warranty has expired. took it to the dealership and they quoted me a $1800 quote to fix. this is a issue that everyone with this vehicle is having. i came outside and my time had went flat when i proceed to add air to it and got in the car to leave. i had absolutely no power steering. at all. this is very dangerous.
While driving down interstate, vehicles steering assist warning light came on. immediately the car became difficult to steer and turn. controlling the vehicle was extremely difficult.
The advancetrac system has gone bad, forcing me to lose power steering and power to the engine. incredibly hard to diagnose the exact problem. replaced multiple sensors and fuses and issue still exist.
The vehicle was parked in my driveway upon returning from errands. the next morning the power steering assist and the advancetrac system failure lights were on. this has happened before while driving and after parking at my workplace. usually restarting the vehicle would correct the issue. this time it would not reset and i brought it to the ford dealership where it was purchased. i understand there was a recall on the 2012 ford fusion and other ford makes for this same issue. however the dealership says the vin # on my fusion doesn't match any current recall and will not cover the cost of repair. my question is if this is a known ford problem why should it not cover my vehicle with the same issue for recall ? just because the vin # isn't in the system is no reason not to fix this. it is a known problem, many situations exactly like mine recorded online. how are they (ford)not responsible?
Power steering failed and the car left the highway and both front tires blew out and damage to the wheel and undercarraige was apparent.
I was on my way home from work and the lights just came on for no reason. steering wheel locks on sharp turns at slow speeds. cuts off bluetooth when it happens. abs, traction and brake light come on. i looked on cars.com and saw a recall in 2015 for this same thing. i got my car in early 2016. under my vin it says the power steering was serviced in 2014 before they even knew about the recall. now the ford dealerships don't see the 2015 recall in their computers. this is extremely dangerous and i don't want to get into an accident. please help me.
Takata recall i received the notification concerning the airbag recall in the mail the day before the vehicle was involved in an accident and was eventually considered to be a total loss. the airbag in the drivers side did deploy and pieces of what i thought were glass were embedded in my skin on my left hand though there wasn't any glass in that area that seemed to be loose. i also noticed that the airbag continued to burn for an extremely long time. the accident occurred and after all parties were evaluated and the road was cleared a bit, the tow truck arrived and the steering column still had smoke coming from the airbag region which the paramedic mentioned seemed to be longer that usual for it to still be smoking. this accident occurred while ,y vehicle was in motion and hit a stopped car which then hit another vehicle on a city street while driving in the forwards position.
I was traveling down a main street and i heard a beep and power steering assist fault lite up on my dash as well with service advancetrac came on so i pull off the road and into a parking lot and my wheel all the sudden got stiff. i sat there for a few trying to figure out what was wrong and i turned the car off and let it sit for a few mins and turned it back on hoping it would go away well it didn't, so i got it home finally 6 hours later still with all them lights on and the wheel being stiff let it sit over night and everything next day i go back to the car hoping once again it would go away and it didn't.
Luckily while parked, wife started up her 2012 fusion to go to work. power assist fault and service advancetrac display in info screen and car has no power steering or traction control. had vehicle diagnosed, fault codes u3000 and u2011 were present. called dealership who said no open recall on vin. recall 15s18 does not cover my vin even though the car fits all of the criteria for the recall including date and manufacture location. ford cust. service unwilling to help. parts covered by the recall were replaced on sept. 13, 2016 by local ford dealer at previous owners expense, parts failed again less than a year later. these parts are not safe and ford is unwilling to fix the problem or extend recall to all vehicles affected by this electronic power assist failure. i've read hundreds of similar complaints now, what does it take to hold ford accountable for the safety of their products?
Restraint control module - sensor assembly failed
Warning: "service advancetrac"/"service power steering now" on dash. lost power steering. recall 15v340000 does not cover my vin. have to drive w/o p. steering, cannot afford to fix. opened case with ford, # cas-12641499. hope to get my vin included in recall.
The electric power stearing went out while i was driving on the highway going 70 mph and pulled me off to the side of the highway and blew out my tire.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford fusion. while driving approximately 45 mph, the "power steering assist fault" and "service advance track" warning messages displayed and the power steering suddenly malfunctioned. the steering wheel became difficult to turn. the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer and local dealer (brookland ford in brookland, mi) were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. the failure mileage was 97,000.
While driving on a highway, the tcs indicator light came on and lost power steering. the following messages also came on - "service power steering now" and "service advancetrac"
I was driving on the 15 n at about 70 mph. the steering wheel veered to the left and locked. at this time, the power steering was lost. took it to the dealer and he said that the rack and pinion was no responding to any input and needed to be replaced. *tr
Throttle body. i looked it up and found a "recall" situation?
July 15,2016 my 2012 ford fusion, with 30,212 miles jerked and stalled. had to coast to the side of the road. to restart and the wrench light came on. took to dealer on july 18 was told it sounded like the emission throttle but have to run test i need to pay 115.00 that would go toward the repair have a extended warranty but she states it's on me.
Unaware that my throttle control transmission was defective. my car shut off, while i was driving at approximately 35/40 mph, on a bend entering a bridge and i was almost hit by a bus. when i started car up again, it went into limp mode and it creeped until i got to a safe area and had to have it towed. ford repaired it for free after i made numerous calls but i had to pay for a rental which cost me $140.00. if i had been traveling down a major highway, i couldve been killed. i never received notification of this defective part. also, my evaporator sensor went bad in my fusion. a known defective part in earlier years up to my year car. the car is only 4 years old and i have no air conditioning. the part is a $20 defective part but the repairs cost over $600.00 because the entire dash needs torn apart. i feel that since ford knew of this defect, this should also be repaired free of charge. i have a handicapped son who needs air conditioning and financially i cannot afford to pay such a large sum of money to replace this well known defective part.
Mu 2012 ford fusion lost power to the steering on the highway so when i pulled the steering wheel hard so i can get to the side of the highway when i finally got to to the side of the highway i turned the car off and turned it back on the steering wheel will not move and a message on the dashboard appears and say service "power steering know" so i had to call a tow truck and when it got to the dealership they said it is a problem with electronic steering rack and pinion faulty and it would cost me 1,500 dollers to get it fix so i started researching on the nhtsa website and found out it was a recall but my car was not affected and i don't know how cause its alot of people with this same problem with their 2012 ford fusion.
Driving at 60 mph i could hear friction worsens and car would lose momentum easily because of the friction. then i start to hear a knocking sound somewhere in the engine perhaps or the wheel unsure and as all that worsens, i can feel the car losing control like it's gotten a flat tire. power steering got stiffer while the car kind of drifted left and then right as tho i was going to lose control of the vehicle. it was really scary so i immediately slowed down because i had no control on the steering.
Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2012 ford fusion. the contact was experiencing issues with the steering column in the vehicle. the dealer inspected and repaired the vehicle, but provided no written diagnosis to verify what was repaired. in addition, the traction control and eps warning indicators randomly flashed. as a result, the power steering and traction control failed randomly. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v340000 (steering). in addition, the tpms warning indicator illuminated several times. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the dealer made no mention of nhtsa campaign number: 17v024000 (air bags). the contact was to check with the manufacturer to determine when the recall repair would be performed. the failure mileage was not available. vin tool confirms parts not available.
Saturday, oct 31st, the low tire pressure was indicated and verified the right-front tire was low when the car was started. i drove the car 3000 feet about 25 mph and service advancetrac and power steering assist fault displayed. brought the car to the dealership and they claim the tires need replacing. excluding the low pressure in one tire, there should have not been a failure and the tires are not bald.
While driving car warning indicator on cluster flashed "service advance track now, but car continued to drive fine. parked car at store and upon return and starting of car pulled out of parking lot and had no power steering almost impossible to steer car at this point, then warning on dash displayed "service power steering now", and "service advanced trak now". was able to get car to dealer, but as of today 7/2/2015 the dealer has not been able to fix it. and has stated over the last week and a half that parts have been ordered and may be in any day, but can not provide a time frame for the parts or the fix.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford fusion. while driving approximately 60 mph, the stabilitrac warning light illuminated and the steering wheel became very difficult to turn. the vehicle was restarted and operated as normal. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 57,000.
