ACCELERATOR PEDAL 3

Recently reported VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL problems on 2010 Ford Fusion

Basically the car shut down driving down the pennsylvania turnpike on friday morning at 65 mph, the car totally shut down. this happened 2 times at 65 mph and one time at about 25 mph while entering the turnpike. i was very lucky that the tractor trailer behind me going about 70 mph, saw something was wrong with my car and had time moved over into the passing or he would have hit my car and killed me. this happen one more time during my morning commute at that speed. i took my car yesterday to the ford dealer and he repaired the throttle body motor assembly. i have notified ford customer service case # cas-#[xxx], but i believe this is an immediate life & health safety recall issue. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I was driving my car on the expressway and suddenly my engine died with no warning and the rpms dropped. i came very close to an accident and luckily was able to get it off the road. people drive very fast and i feel lucky to be unhurt. i have a defective throttle body and i can no longer drive my car till it is fixed. this is very dangerous and should be recalled. they say the circuit board is faulty and is sending the engine the wrong signal. someone is going to get seriously hurt or killed . please add this to your list of other complaints. i bought my car on july 11, 2009 thank u *tr

I was driving to work in rush hour traffic with cruise control on doing about 60mph and all of a sudden the car lost power.......engine began to run rough and would not accelerate above an idle (rough idle). there was no response to the throttle; the car would not go faster and could not maintain speed. it only decelerated. i immediately pulled out of traffic to the shoulder and limped to the nearest side street. i turned the car off, checked under the hood, and when i restarted, it ran perfectly fine. a check of the web and contact with the ford dealer indicated the throttle body was bad. the dealer indicated this was a common problem, that the part has been upgraded twice but my vehicle was not part of a service bulletin/recall. a new throttle body and about $500 later the car is fine its clear may drivers/customers are experiencing this same issue this was dangerous. when the issue happened i was being followed closely by a large truck. i had no warning and the only available option was to immediately pull out of lane and onto the shoulder.. fortunately i was in the extreme right lane and could pull out of traffic without incident - it would have been a serious incident had i been in the center of left lane, or where there was no available shoulder. *tr

Throttle actuator control system is stuck open. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 75 mph, the vehicle stalled with the illumination of the maintenance light. the failure recurred on three occasions. the contact was able to pull over and restart the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where it was stated that the throttle body needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. the approximate failure mileage was 53,000.

I was driving on the highway at about 65 mph when my vehicle lost power. pushing the gas did nothing. i had to coast off the side of the road. restarting my vehicle seemed to resolve the issue. the second incident was in town. i was driving about 35 mph when my vehicle lost power. i pulled off to the side , the vehicle sputtered as if it might die. i turned off the engine and then restarted it. i drove about 1/4 mile to my mechanic who was unable to diagnose the problem with his scanner. he thinks it is the " drive by wire " or a sensor. *tr

Upon accelerating from a dead stop at a traffic signal, i could not accelerate past 15 mph. i pulled over to the side of the road an the car was idling very roughly and on the verge of stalling. i turned the car off, waited 1-2 minutes, restarted the car and the car was running "normally". i don't recall if any of the dashboard lights came on. i took the vehicle into my local ford dealer and was told that the issue is the throttle body and it needs to be replaced and that the stalling could happen at any given time. unfortunately the part id on back-order for 1-2 months so i need to live with this dangerous issue for some time. the car is a 2010 ford fusion. i am the original owner (purchased in dec '09) and this is the first occurrence of this stalling issue. *tr

I was driving about 45 on straight stretch of road car felt like it went into neutral but it did not lost all power pressing on the gas did nothing was able to pull off road yellow-wrench light came on car started missing real bad so hard the car was jumping a little so i cut the car off and then it started back up and ran ok for about 10 miles did the same thing again-i took it to local ford dealership rented a car they told me on friday as it did not happen with them and did not throw a code they could find nothing wrong with it and i needed to drive it again and if it happened again to bring it back on monday- i picked car up drove it saturday about 40 miles and same thing again i drove it on home as the ford place was closed i am afraid to drive it as it is very dangerous -sunday a friend of mine drove behind me to take it back to same dealership and about 10-12 miles car did same thing (4th time) was able to restart it and then drove it to the dealership with a note about the problem. spoke to dealership yesterday and today and once again they tell me as the code was alerted and they drove it 20 miles and it was fine -the car is not fine it is dangerous to myself and others -i expressed this to them and was told there was nothing they could do as they don't know what the problem is to drive it and if it happens again to come back? i looked on the internet and found many other examples of the same problem -if there are a lot of concerns what can be done to get ford to admit this is a safety problem -i talked to them about the throttle body assembly problems but was told it may be the problem but would not recommend replacing it because they don't know. *tr

21 aug 2013 heading home from work at 5:30pm. i pulled up to the traffic light that was 10 miles from my destination, light turned green i accelerated to reach the alloted speed for the road. 1/2 mile down the road the car began to surge, no power to the engine, rpms where not operational, car began to slow down, engine and wrench light came on. i was able to pull off the road to safety. sat for 10 minutes, turned the vehicle off and on numerous times the engine and wrench light both shut off and the car ran fine all the way to my destination. 12 september 2013, on my way to florida on interstate 10 at speeds of 70 mph on a busy interstate the car surged violently and began to slow down leaving us to dangerously move across lanes with no throttle response to get to the shoulder of road to get to safety i sat for 20 minutes, using the same remedy i was able to get the vehicle to start and run but the engine light remained on for the remainder of the trip. no shops where open to run a diagnostic test, i could not find out the code the vehicle was alerting me it had. 20 september 2013 at 1:30am coming back from florida neared a red light to stop the vehicle ran fine at speeds of 60mph stopped at the light and proceeded to make a left turn on the green signal @ speeds 10mph the vehicle stalled, surged badly and gave no throttle response in the middle of the traffic lights, leaving us to gradually to steer into an opened lane. the car started back up a few times still surging and not showing signs of driving until i shut it off for the last time.

Loosing power and acceleration capability. engine continues to run however quite the hazard on a congested freeway when you suddenly loose power and speed. diag is that it is a faulty throttle body assembly. costly repair just after warranty expiration not to mention highway hazard and towing expense. *tt

I was driving home from the local store and came up to a light. as i started to turn right and accelerate, the engine suddenly stopped accelerating. the incident occurred at about 1000 rpm's. the "service engine soon" light appeared. i quickly pulled over to the side of the street and turned the car off. i turned the car back on and got no more then 100 yards without the same thing happening again. i repeatedly did this until i managed to get home. a tow truck took it into the dealership and they said the throttle body was bad so they replaced it. i'm thankful this didn't happen when i was turning left with oncoming traffic which could have easily resulted in an accident. *tr

Upon accelerating from stop at city intersection to 30 mph, car suddenly lost all acceleration. coasted into nearby lot. "wrench" light on. turned car off. luckily, no car had been approaching from rear, and this was before entering ramp to busy 60 mph highway. car ran, as if normal after re-starting, wrench light out. drove 15 miles to dealer service shop. shop performed ford's throttle body test procedure and verified throttle body had failed. shop replaced electronic throttle body assembly; car at 54,000 miles. from researching, see that this a prevalent issue with increasing rate of occurrence (a top 5 car complaint over past 90 days). given the apparent incident rate, intermittent nature, and odds of occurring with sudden surprise in traffic moving at speed, clearly presents a hazardous condition and compromises safety in otherwise normal driving circumstances. evidently problem occurs within predictable range on odometer, which probably indicates some manufacturing defect leading to premature failure. along with the resulting safety risk exposure, this does not reasonably meet automotive consumer expectations for the equipment and technology. as more vehicles go through this mileage range, may become epidemic with increasing odds for bad outcomes. wanted to add my event to the list; maybe can save someone else potential serious accident and injury. to this point, the car seems good otherwise, but this item needs to be taken seriously and by all rights get remedied in a proactive manner.

Without warning, engine stalled on highway at 60 mph causing rapid deceleration. after restart, continued intermittent stalling without warning creating a hazardous situation. *tr

Due to the failure of the throttle body, the car engine quits at various speeds or will not accelerate and stalls with on coming traffic. when this happens, the cars power brakes and steering fail to work creating a very unsafe event. ford has had hundreds or thousands of problems with this according to the local dealership, if fact they have several cars waiting for parts (throttle body) to repair in their back lot. i have been promised by ford customer service the part would be shipped for over three or four weeks, but they have shipped none due to the manufacture on back order or putting the parts in "new" cars to sell. we have no choice but to keep driving the vehicle doing this time. ford refuses to provide a rental car since my car is "out of warranty", in the mean time, they will not ship the part to repair. if, according to the dealership, they are having this problem with multiple models, why has this not be a recall by ford to fix or furnish a replacement while they can't send the part to fix the safety problem. (when the car quits at 35-60mph in traffic, this is a safety problem.) *tr

Six months after purchasing my fusion brand new, it left me stranded 6 hours away from home on the side of the road with a wrench light on and no acceleration. after a tremendous tow bill that ford would not cover (yes i have the extended warranty) i had my car brought to my local dealer and found to be and replaced the throttle body. yesterday on my way to work, it started doing the sputtering and jerking again and that wrench light came on and i lost all power control to my vehicle. thankfully i was able to make it to the side of the road. after a few mins it did crank back and i was able to drive about 15 miles before it did it again and this time my engine light came on. now my local ford dealership is saying all i can do is pay to have it fixed again because my extended warranty just ran out and it is going to be expensive. i don't understand why a recurring problem can't be fixed. it is very unsafe to have a car do this while on a highway. especially when you have kids in the car like i do. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving approximately 25 mph, the engine stalled without warning. the vehicle failed to restart and was towed to an authorized dealer where the faulty throttle body was replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the defect. the approximate failure mileage was 54,000. updated 10/17/13*lj

Was taking off from stop light and lost control of acceleration pedal. car would not react to pressure applied to pedal. put car in park and it started jerking. turned car off and on again and it acted fine for the next 30 miles. same thing happened again. took car to mechanic, couldn't find anything. a few days went by with no issues, then while driving at around 45-50 mph, the wrench light came on and the car dropped speed immediately to 5 mph. i had to make an emergency pull off in the grass as another vehicle was behind me and we were going around a curve. i started car again and drove about 3 miles and it did the same thing while driving. this has now happened about 8 times. our mechanic has looked at the car twice and couldn't find the problem. *tr

I was traveling at about 45 mph and without any warning my car stalled. it would not accelerate at all. i had to just let it coast and attempt to get out of the road. the car was still running, but very rough. after i cut the engine off, in a few minutes it did restart. but by this time a deputy had shown up. he would not let me try to drive the car, because it could happen again and would be a safety issue. i had to have the car towed. when they checked the computer nothing showed up. i then took my car my car to a local ford dealer. and without even checking the car the service person told me that it was the throttle body. as this is a common problem with my car. ford needs to recall this part. this is going to cost me around $600 to repair my car. this is extremely dangerous, if i had been in heavy traffic someone could have been injured. *tr

I was driving west bound i-275 in northern kentucky, near i-71 when the vehicle lost power. i narrowly missed being hit by other vehicles as i moved to the emergency lane. turned the car off and then on and everything seemed normal. i drove to a nearby ford dealership and they stated the problem was likely a defective throttle body. they replaced the throttle body and i have not had any further problems. based on internet search, this is a common problem and one that is a safety issue. please issue a recall. *tr

Ever since 80,000 miles on my car has hit i've been having throttle body issues. at first it was only once in a while when shifting between 2nd and 3rd my rpm needle would bouce and feel the gears having troubles changing. at that point when the car was unable to shift the mechanic light would turn on and disengage my car not allowing me to use the gas. after pulling over the car would still rev and shake to move forward. upon putting the car in park and turning off all was needed was to re-start the car and would be good. only until recently the problem only increased. i had a 30 minute commute that took 1 hour and since the car would disengage i had to swerve and vear traffic just to pull over into a safe location. my car during my last trip stalled a total of 19 times in 1 trip, please demand a recall as i can see per the internet i'm not the only one. *tr

Ford fusion 2010 has defective engine fuel system/computer identifying the throttle body as the non-functional part causing a safety hazard to self and others. at 60 mph freeway speed the car goes into an instant "low rpm mode", causing complete loss of foot pedal control and rpm immediately reduced to 800. at this point the car is an unguided missile looking to strike something. the power steering is non existent. my car did this on 8-19-2013 with only 12303 miles on it. this has to be an electrical malfunction of the throttle body sensing circuitry being defective. it is only a little more time until this gets someone killed. after stopping with a dead engine, starting again results in very rough idling and no more than 800 rpm, which is incapable of moving the car. shutoff the ignition, check and have good oil and transmission and cooling levels. started the car again and it was back to normal, until one block later at a stop light......same thing again. if ford does not do a recall on this, they will have to spend money on the relatives of the dead people's lawsuits! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle began to decelerate in a jerking motion. the vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the roadway cautiously. the vehicle was later taken to an authorized dealer where a diagnostic testing was performed, which detected a faulty throttle body. the vehicle was being repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 76,120. updated 9/19/13 *cn

On august 18,2013 i was driving about 50 mph when car went limp( did not stall), idle was very rough. after trying for about 10 minutes to figure out what was wrong, we turned off engine and restarted car. the car was fine for the next week. then on august 25, 2013 the same thing happened again. again, repeated turning engine off and restarted. on august 26, 2013, i was wait in a drive through and the car stalled. i had to keep the car running by two footing it ( one foot on gas all the time and one on break as to not hit the car in front of me). i then called my mechanic and we replaced the battery since it read weak, and no codes come up when put on computer. that did not fix the problem. after he did research on the problem, he replaced the throttle body. this should be a recall part. it is going to cause a death one of these times when the car goes limp traveling on highways and such. *jb

Vehicle lost power and would not respond to accelerator, just prior to entering freeway on ramp. wrench icon appeared on console. fortunately, no one was following, so was able to pull over to side of road safely. car began to shake. turned off car - was able to restart and get home safely. reviewed symptoms on line - consistent with throttle body issue, which appears to be a frequently reported problem with the fusion. took the car to the dealer next day - confirmed it was defective throttle body. service manager indicated this is a common issue with the fusion, and they see one or two a month at just this dealer. part had been back ordered for some time, but luckily had just come in, so vehicle was repaired same day (out of warranty, of course - 3 year old car with 40000 mi). seems like this is a known problem with potential safety implications that ford is well aware of - why isn't this the subject of a recall and replacement before this happens to someone at 70 mph? *jb

I was driving about 60 mph on the highway, and the engine stopped. i coasted to the side of the road, and turned off the key to reset the alarm code. the car started and drove normally for about 2 miles, then the engine stopped again. within 5 miles the car would barely run at all, the engine was mis-firing and clunking along at 2 mph and stalling every few feet. i had no previous indications of a problem. the car was running fine, and then within 5 miles it was completely un-drivable. the problem was failure of the throttle body, cost $525 to repair. there are many reports of this problem on the internet. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving approximately 15 mph, the vehicle decelerated and began to shake. the wrench warning icon was illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. the technician stated the electronic throttle body would have to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 77,000.

In the middle of my drive home on the interstate at 60mph, the car just suddenly lost the ability to accelerate. as i put on my hazard lights and began pulling off to the side of the interstate, the car began mildly lurching. luckily, i was able to safely pull to the side of the interstate and get the car stopped. i turned the vehicle off and restarted a few minutes later to find the vehicle appearing to be completely fine. i got off of the interstate at the next exit and luckily made it safely home. upon taking the car to the dealership to be looked over, i was told the throttle body was "gummed up" and would need to be replaced. i am told that this type of repair is not something commonly needed to be done on a car only a few years old with only 56,000 miles, and the sudden loss of all ability to safely control the car on the interstate is an extreme safety concern. *tr

It 68000 miles had to replace the throttle body on this 2010 ford fusion 2.5 .this is not under the 80000 mile coverage, and it is a part of the fuel system that is covered. *tr

I had just started and was exiting a retail establishment. i was driving down a slight incline approaching a stop light when the car started shaking and dramatically lost speed. the wrench light came on which according to the manual indicates a possible powertrain/transmission issue. i turned the car off and then restarted (in the middle of the road) and drove to a safe location. i was lucky that at the time i was driving at a slow speed and approaching a stop light. if a car had been behind me someone would have been injured. *tr

While doing 50 mph on a highway, the car suddenly lost power. the motor was still running, but it was as if it was in idle. depressing the accelerator did nothing. i pulled the car over to the shoulder and stopped. the idle was extremely rough. there was a 'wrench' indicator light. i turned the car off. as i restarted the car, it was very rough to start then after a few seconds, idle was normal. i drove without a problem for about 20 miles when the problem re-occurred in the exact same manner. when i started the car this time, the 'wrench' light was off, but the 'check engine' light was on and remained on. the ford dealership says the throttle-body needs to be replaced, and that this is not covered under the power-train warranty. *tr

My 18 year old son was getting ready to get on the freeway and the vehicle suddenly slowed to 30 mph. we took the vehicle to the dealer and they replaced the throttle body at our expense. this issue is so common that ford is having a hard time producing enough throttle bodies. the part is on national back order and this particular dealer had a car in the shop that had waited 1 month for this part. this is a serious safety issue. one minute later and my son would have been doing 65mph on the freeway. imagine if he was in traffic and suddenly could not travel faster than 30 mph. in addition, since this event the ford sync and bluetooth features no longer work. *tr

Most recently, while i was driving my 2010 ford fusion around 25 mph, my car slowed down, but did not shut off, and i couldn't accelerate. my rpm's dropped and my wrench light came on, so i pulled over and shut the car off. after a few minutes, i turned the car back on and it appeared fine. this happened 2 times in one week. my understanding is that i need a new throttle body. this car is a brand new 2010 ford fusion with 68,000 miles. i would not expect this type of problem/expense and am very frustrated. side note: i have had many other issues with this vehicle since the time i bought it. the other problem related to transmission "revving" that occurred when decelerating around 25-40 mph or between gears. i had my vehicle in multiple times at a ford dealership for this issue. they completed computer resets and ran other tests. the problem still continued. we escalated to the bbb and was awarded a ford field service engineer inspection and had a vehicle data recorder installed. the issues i described could not be replicated. *tr

While traveling in the middle lane on i-77 at 65 mph, the car suddenly decelerated to a stop. the car was running but the car was unable to move. fortunately a brave passerby pulled off onto the left median, stopped traffic in the left lane, directed me to put the car in neutral & pushed my car over the left lane and onto the left median. a state highway patrolman, coincidentally, came by and called a tow truck. he pushed me farther off the road, fearing a rear end collision. the car was towed to a ford dealership where the throttle body was replaced. the tow cost over $80. if i had not purchased an extended warranty this repair would have been over $700. this was a terrifying incident as this is a heavily traveled stretch of interstate. i consider myself very unfortunate that i was not involved in a serious accident. if the good samaritan hadn't helped,i would have had to either stay in my vehicle & risk a rear end collision or try to leave my car in the middle lane, cross the left lane by foot, and wait for assistance along the left median. i have since learned that the throttle body defect in ford fusions has been well-documented. there should be a recall. i worry for my nephew & son-in-law who both have 2010 fusions. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that she attempted to accelerate from a stop and the vehicle moved only a few feet into an intersection before failing to accelerate any further. the vehicle was shut off and restarted, and the vehicle operated as designed. three weeks later the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis and the contact was informed that the electronic throttle body would need to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 43,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, there was a sudden loss of engine power. the contact mentioned that the wrench icon and the check engine warning light was illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the electronic throttle body needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was repaired. the approximate failure and current mileage was 66,000. the vin was not available.

We were driving on a highway when the cruise control kicked off. i realized that the car had no power, so i went to the shoulder and the car was shuddering as i came to a stop. i turned the car off, checked to see if there was anything i could see wrong in the engine compartment, checked all fluids, etc. got back in the car and it started right up. we went a little while longer and it happened again. all in all, it happened probably 8-10 times in a little over a 100 mile trip. the wrench light would come on when the problem appeared, but only the service engine light would stay on after restarting.when we got back into town, i went to auto zone to have the engine code read and it was p2111 (throttle body). after doing some investigating, i found that this is a very common problem among these cars. i found out that it is very easy to replace, so tried ordering one. the part that most sources have listed is around $170. but, that part is not available and the replacement is $324. i think ford is gouging the consumers to fix a known problem that should be fixed under a recall. i have a 4 year old car that i don't dare take a trip with. *tr

I was driving in morning rush hour traffic and the car suddenly jerked and then just stopped. it would not accelerate and i was barely able to move the car off the road. i shut it off and was able to restart the car. however the car was acting the same. i took it to the dealer and was informed that the throttle body failed (code pewee). *tr

I was driving home doing about 50 mph, and all of a sudden the car lost power and i was unable to accelerate. the car started shaking violently and it finally stopped down to about 2-3 mph. i took it to the ford dealership and had to pay 824.00 to replace the throttle body. ford never mentioned anything about this being a problem. i have seen numerous news stories about this very problem. *tr

I was driving down the interstate and i pushed the gas pedal but the car would not accelerate. this happened twice within 2 miles. i took the car to a local garage and they said it was the throttle body. i took the vehicle to my local ford dealership and paid for it to be fixed because the car was no longer under warranty. hopefully if there is a recall, i can get reimbursed for my repair bill. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the vehicle jerked and lost acceleration. the wrench icon and the check engine warning light illuminated after the failure occurred. the contact was able to coast the vehicle to her destination. the failure was experienced numerous. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and a diagnostic was performed, which located the failure at the throttle body. the throttle body was not replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure and current mileage was 66,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled with the illumination of the check engine warning light. the failure recurred on several occasions. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where it was stated that the throttle body needed to be repaired. the vehicle was repaired and the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 62,000.

Driving down i-95 at 70mph when the throttle cut out. an amber wrench trouble light was illuminated on the right side of the instrument panel. pulled of to the side of the hwy. able to restart the car, but the engine cut out again about 2 miles down the road. started up again and limped to a parking lot. this time the amber, check engine light was on. called dealership and they said it sounded like a throttle body problem. i was able to limp home for 15 miles. had to maintain the engine at 1500 rpm or below. as soon as i went above 1500 rpm, engine would cut out or start choking and had no throttle. *tr

My wife and son were in the car and had stopped at a busy 4-way stop intersection. with no prior warning the car started to shake and the check engine light and battery light came on. the power steering was barely working and the car stalled just past the intersection. they were able to restart the car, but the minute the car was put in drive it would start shaking etc.... we had to have the car towed back to van bortel ford in east rochester ny for repairs. the dealership stated that we needed a new throttle body ($465.34) and a new battery ($123.90) on a 3 year old car. they indicated they new of a possible recall and told us to hang on to our receipt for a refund if the recall happens. *tr

Sitting at a light and the vehicle started idling very rough - dipping below 500 rpm and surging to about 1200 rpm. car went into limp mode when i hit the gas. pulled into a gas station, shut car off, restarted after about 30 seconds. ran fine for about 5 minutes. then proceeded to idle rough at the next three stoplights - this time not surging. car eventually stalled and had to be restarted all 3 times. seemed to run ok on the highway, but stalled once more at a light after getting ff the highway. idled it in driveway when i got home. idling very rough but hasn't surged or stalled now. *tr

While driving on the highway, the car suddenly lost all power to accelerate and drifted to a stop. the problem did not persist after re-starting the vehicle. however, the failure occurred several more times under similar conditions (highway driving, 30-60 minute trips). when i took the vehicle in for repair i learned it was an issue with the throttle body (part number 9e926) and that the part would need to be replaced and was not covered under 5 year/60,000 mile warranty. i am filing this complaint after learning other fusions and ford models were having similar throttle body problems and as such the issue should lead to a recall. *tr

8/11/13 driving home after church, traveled approximately 1.5 miles when wrench light came on and vehicle lost power. no throttle response. coasted off highway and after three cranking cycles it restarted with no lights activated. drove next 15 miles home with no problem. 8/12/13 driving in town after approximately 1.5 miles the same thing occurred. after three cranking cycles it restarted and drove home with no lights. plugged scanner in at home and found code on freeze frame of p2111 indicating throttle stuck open. looked online in ford fusion forum and found several others with same issue. ford indicates the throttle body needs replacing. i believe this a safety issue that ford should recall and repair at no cost to the consumer. my 16 year old daughter drives this car and stalling in the middle of traffic or losing throttle response is not a safe situation for her to be in, especially if this occurs when pulling into traffic. *tr

After accelerating away from a stop-sign the engine abruptly began to run exceedingly poorly, and lost nearly all power. i was unable to accelerate or maintain speed. after pulling onto the shoulder and stopping i was able to restart the car, but attempts to drive it would result in stalling at about 5mph. after about perhaps 50 feet. the car was subsequently towed to the dealership where the throttle-body was replaced at my cost. *tr

As i was driving on the interstate the car rpm jumped and the car proceeded to shake a bit. when i tried to give the car gas nothing happened. we had to pull off to the side of the road, when the car began to shake much harder. we were forced to turn the car off, wait a moment a turn the car back on. it has done this two us a couple of times while we wait for the part to come in. *tr

My pregnant wife was driving my car home on the highway when the car suddenly died on her while she is in the fast lane. she pulled the car over to the side of the road and turns the engine off and then back on. about 20 minutes later the car dies out again, this time the shoulders are non existent and she is forced to turn the car off and on in the far right lane. my wife and unborn child could've died last night and it seems this is an issue that ford is aware of. when are they going to recall these faulty vehicles or at least replace the faulty parts that they put in them. we shouldn't have to pay one penny for their mistakes. *tr

Was driving on highway with cruise control set. vehicle began decelerating as if cruise control had shut off. i attempted to resume the cruise control with no success, as the car continued to decelerate. i pushed on the accelerator in an attempt to regain speed, because a vehicle behind me almost struck me in the rear. i had to maneuver onto the shoulder and came to a stop, because the car would not accelerate. i shut the car off and restarted it. it ran rough, but would accelerate and i was able to continue my 85 mile journey home. i have since learned this is a common problem with the 2010 ford fusion 2.5 liter engine, as the throttle body is defective. *tr
